Been coming here for YEARS, most often with a large group of friends. There are two managers, and either/or is always there. They are both incredibly rude and unprofessional. Seems like every time we're there one of the two is aggressively speaking to customers. If customers are sitting down at a table to try and decide what they want to order, or if part of families/groups are at a table while their friends/relatives are in line ordering drinks/desserts, one of the two managers always seem to come out and yell at the customers for not having drinks in front of them. SHAME SHAME SHAME Cocola...your store is in SR, your products are not cheap, so please refrain from hiring staff that is both accusatory to and unprofessional with customers. read more

Overpriced but a nice treat if you're not paying attention to the cost haha. Service was friendly and fast. I love the ambiance of the place. It's a bit narrow but I think it works. I would imagine when it's busy though the place can feel claustrophobic. Almond tart (7.5/10): The Almond Tart had a nice almond flavor and the crust was buttery and not too sweet. I actually really liked this dessert. It was a bit dry but I didn't mind it? However, I've had the Almond Honey Cake before and that was a lot better in my opinion. The almonds are caramelized and the cake is moist. The tart wasn't bad though for a smaller portioned dessert with almond flavor. Baccara (8/10): This dessert was delicious and tart and bouncy. The outer layer was like a jelly and the inside had several layers of mouse. All of the flavors compliment each other well. This is definitely one of those places you come to after eating dinner. came with my sister to try this place out since she had a great experience the last time she came. this bakery is located in santana row, near stores like lulu lemon and tesla. its interior is clean and i like that there is both inside and outdoor dining areas. they offer a wide variety of pastries and sandwiches, along with teas and coffee. We ordered a lemon tart, cortado, and a sparkling lemonade. I paid $20 ($22 with tip) for those three items alone. The sparkling lemonade comes in a sealed bottle, while coffees come in a porcelain cup to enjoy while dining in. When my sister first got her drink, she was only given black coffee. My sister ordered a cortado, which is espresso with equal parts warm milk. my sister went to the employee to see if she could get her drink fixed, they looked confused and stared at her until another employee stepped in to fix her drink. when she got her new drink, she said it didn't taste like espresso, and that it tasted just like black coffee. she didn't want to make a fuss about it so we left it at that. negative aside, the lemon tart was really good. in all, the best thing about this place is its aesthetics. you can take really cute food pics here, but the quality is just okay. the service is just okay. my sister was disappointed with this trip so maybe it was just a bad day but i personally won't return. read more

This feels like one of the establishments at Santana Row that has still been there after many years. I give a 4 star rating because I don't consider it exceptional, but it is good enough to be going back. One plus (or maybe a minus for some) is that they allow dogs inside ! So that was fun to bring my family's dog in today. The servers seem pretty efficient in moving the line along. There is not much indoor seating, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. I personally really like their outdoor seating furntiure, as it gives me the 'en terrasse' vibes in France. It's been a while since I have actually purchased more of their pastries, but this morning I got a keto bite, which was small but $6. It tasted okay, but I wish I would have asked them to heat it up. Their chai drink is not anything notable, either. It also feels a bit crowded during the weekends, as this place is very popular. I think it could be fun to go one day on a weekday morning when there might be less people and order a drink 'sur place', as well as a pastry that is warmed. read more

After a delicious lunch we decided to go here for coffee. Cocola Bakery is a charming French bakery and café serving French breads and pastries that are all baked daily on location. This indoor/outdoor café also serves gourmet sandwiches on fresh baguettes, with salads and homemade soups. We decided to have Mocha Bianca and believe me it's very tasty and creamy coffee. We also got dessert - pineapple twist, pineapple custard filling and cheese danish. If you haven't tried this place, I will highly recommend it and do try the pineapple custard filling dessert and the mocha bianca, I promise you will not regret it. I loved it and the service is great, the inside sitting can get crowded but they do have outside seating as well. As I write this review, I am craving that coffee for sure. I came here over the weekend with my parents to be pleasantly surprised by the delicious selection of desserts, pastries, and beverages. My Parents and I ordered two desserts and two beverages. When eating the banana chocolate mousse cake, I thought that it had a nice banana flavor. It tasted like fresh, real banana, whereas other desserts I've had tasted like artificial banana flavor. The chocolate mousse was very light and fluffy. The cake overall was not too sweet and tasted very delicious. I will definitely be getting this again. The Banana Hot Chocolate was perfect. Although a little bit sweet, it had a nice real banana flavor. The entire time that I was drinking the hot chocolate, I was questioning how they made it taste like real bananas. I have to say this is one of my favorite hot chocolates I've ever had. Regular/ plain hot chocolate just won't cut it anymore. Overall, I always have a good experience at Cocola Cafe. There's plenty of seating and so many yummy desserts, pastries, and beverages. Since the cafe is very, I recommend coming in a group so that one of you can find seating and the others can order. i walked by this bakery and there were a lot of people sitting outside and enjoying their pastries, so i had to try it too! the ambiance of the bakery is giving porto's bakery meets americanized bakery trying to be parisian (think a more boujee paris baguette). there was a line, but the wait was quick because the workers moved fast. we got 4 mini macarons to try each flavor (the flavors weren't posted anywhere so we had to guess by the color), but having tried macarons from paris (and mcdonald's paris lol), i do have to say that these are quite scrumptious! the macaron cookie itself is nice and soft, and the filling is flavorful (but a bit sugary, so good thing they give free lemon-infused water lol). i also included pictures of their other pastries, cakes, and cold food - be sure so give this place a try! read more

I like to judge a bakery by how well they make their croissants. Cocola had the regular and chocolate croissants on display when we were there on a Saturday night, so we decided to try the chocolate croissant because it was technically more sophisticated than the regular croissant, so here's my thoughts on the piece. 1. Inconsistent texture - the outer layer was glazed with a simple syrup, leaving a glossy finish that made the croissant glisten. However, this finish made the exterior layer too crunchy compared to the rest of the croissant, which had layers of doughy and flaky intermixed. It was not a cohesive texture throughout the croissant. 2. The chocolate filling - there were two fillings inside the croissant: bits and pieces dark chocolate and a milky hazelnut creme. Not a bad combo, but definitely unusual to have two filings. The extra filling changes the taste profile and adds weight to the pastry, which throws off the croissant:filling ratio. Got the Bamboo which is mango and passionfruit mousse and it was disappointing. The cake is 4 layers and only the top layer has any fruit flavor. The two cake layers are extremely dense -- not fluffy or flavorful at all. And the second mousse/cream layer is really thick and dense and doesn't have great flavor either. Overall, dense, dry, and not good flavor. Do not order this. On top of that, the staff weren't very friendly and the line was really unorganized. 2 o'clock in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day on my first trip to San Jose. Everything was great except for one thing - we decided to take our food to Cocola Bakery. In my personal opinion, this place could have avoided the bad reviews if they removed the main dishes from their menu. We didn't take the desserts, but I think they are delicious (because they look like it). I bought my favorite grapefruit juice, which was very good (but I could argue about the cost, minus $2 - and that would become a great price for a just juice). We also ordered sparkling water, which almost turned into pink sparkling water. The cashier was on training, and I completely understand this because I had worked in the same field before, but there should always be someone present to the trainee to oversee the whole process and deal with difficult issues. The cherry on the chocolate cake was the extra charge for the turkey in the sandwich, which they asked for after we had already paid. It was very frustrating because we even left a tip. Finally, the salad was bitter and stale. I was only happy with the juice and my company, who actually looked upset at that moment. I don't like to see my favorite people in an upset mood. read more
