I've been here a few times and the high-quality gelato with rich flavors and the high end marketing lives up to the hype. However, every time I've visited, the shop has been extremely busy with a long line out the door. It seemed like there weren't enough staff only 3-4 at night and sometimes 2 members during the day which made the wait much longer than expected. The employees there remained friendly despite the constant line. I think the store could really do something about the understaffing during peak hours. The gelato itself was great and worth trying, but paying $10 for about 150 grams of gelato + the 30+ min wait wasn't that worth it. I have experience in food service so I know that there is so much that a understaffed crew can do. I think they should have a few more workers to balance the workload and line. read more

The inside of the store is super cute and has a cozy vibe, there's also seating outside. The lovely employee let me sample as many flavors as I wanted. All delicious. What a great addition to Santana Row! The shop is located next to the movie theater and Mendocino Farms, with easy access from the parking garage right across the street. I don't get gelato too often, but after trying just about all of their flavors, I think that's about to change. They had such a fun and indulgent variety. They had chocolatey, fruity, fun options with mixins, and even vegan options, truly something for everyone. Picking one flavor would be nearly impossible, but luckily you don't have to, and can get up to four in one cup/cone! I got one of the chocolates, raspberry, pistachio, and a caramel one when I went. The pistachio transported me back to eating gelato on a beach in Europe even though it was a rainy day. The customer service is so warm, welcoming, and friendly. It was like $15 for a large with waffle cone. We felt that there wasn't anything that special about it to justify that price. Also, it was way too melted, it started dripping before we even started eating it. Also, super sweet! We tried the mint chocolate, cookies n cream, and tiramisu, and the mint chocolate was definitely my favorite. I've been here 3x now it deserves a review! Welcome addition to the row and it's super popular with a line at the door even on weeknights! Open late too. Very bright and inviting indoors with so many flavors to choose from. I haven't seen a sign limiting how many samples one can ask for but I generally ask for maybe two. Seating inside and out. The tables are too close together inside though. Restroom available too. Staff are pretty nice and can recommend flavors if you're unsure. Flavors I've tried: Chocolate Pistaccio Crunch Stracciatella Chocolate Chip Cioccolato & Menthe Liana's Shortcake (strawberry jam) Greek Yogurt Raspberry Sorbet My favorite is the pistachio chocolate but it can get overly sweet because of the chocolate crunch pieces and pistachio gelato. Shortcake also gets sweeter over time but I loved the strawberry white choco crispies. I got waffle cones my first two visits and you can get one flavor for the regular size. Want even more sweet finishes? Get pistachio cream or chocolate hazelnut cream lined inside your cone or cup and/or add nuts too before they scoop the gelato in. During my third visit, I wanted something lighter so I got the Stracciatella & Menthe chocolate in a piccolo size cup (2 flavors allowed). Not as sweet as my prior choices. We went around 9:00 PM (they close at 11:00 PM), and unfortunately, a few of their most popular/famous flavors were already completely sold out. My friend and I went here on a Monday morning around 10:30 AM and luckily there was nobody in line! The whole Cafe area is set up like a cute little grandma's house or something very clean and modernize, but I love all the little fixtures! Kind of like Giada De Laurentii's house when she goes to Tuscany!! Hee simply adorable! The three employees that were there were incredibly helpful and patient as my friend and I got to sample the different various flavors. We were so happy nobody was in line behind us! Lol found out that they make all their ice cream/gelato fresh daily in this giant machine in the back and you can see through the windows people working hard at their craft!! When we got our ice cream, we sat outside since it was a beautiful morning and we got to enjoy our ice cream and play catch-up. I can't wait to see the different flavors that they come up with since summer is right around the corner!! I also loved the baked goods they had!! I got three different pastries!! The ambiance is okay but do expect lines on weekends (no surprise here) Bumping this review down to 3 stars because the service staff who helped us was kinda rude. I get that the lines are long during summer but that isn't an excuse for sloppy service. When we asked her to try 2 of the flavours available, she looked like she was so done with her shift. No response, no confirmation just handed us the sample stick while talking to her co-worker. We eventually bought a pint, once we placed our order with her she didn't say anything and walk to the fridge upfront. Came back and handed us the pint, we said thank you but what followed was silence. I don't expect big smiles and a warm welcome but at least the basic customer service which was lacking. I came on a Bacio Sweet Day where the gelato is donation-based (essentially however much you choose to donate is the amount you pay and donations are matched!) This event allows you to get a piccolo (2 flavors) I typically don't get gelato, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavors here! You can try samples before you make your decision and the employees were all very nice/open to help you. I tried the Giandujotto [Hazelnut & Chocolate], strawberry cheesecake, and pistachio, ending up with the initial two flavor samples. The texture was creamy and the flavors were deep and rich.
