Tried this place for the first time recently and we ordered their Tiramisu (2), Bamboo (Mango & Passion Fruit Mousse), Fruit Tart, Rouge (Strawberry Cake). Our absolute favorite was their bamboo, which was a creamy mango delectable delicious round cake. my friend brought it over and so I have not visited the location itself, but it was incredible even after spending a few hours in her kitchen/car, as she was out shopping in Santana Row and picked up some of these treats for us when she came to visit our home afterwards. all the cakes really lasted the test of time sitting in her hot car and in the fridge when we had left over the next day. I'll definitely have to come in in person and see what the storefront is like and order more of their mango and passion fruit mousse because that was absolutely my favorite one. The mango is smooth and creamy and rich and decadent, nothing like any other mousse I've ever tried. admittedly, I've always been a huge fan of mangoes, and so that might be the reason, but the reason that my friend picked it up in the first place, is that I also really love tiramisu, so I was surprised to like the moose more than the tiramisu, which is usually my go to in any bakery. They're tiramisu was pretty good (though I believe my all-time favorite will always be the single slice tiramisu at Whole Foods, (which somehow always tastes different than the full cakes and often goes out of stock). Additionally, she ordered their strawberry rouge after this was recommended to her by someone working there (their staff are super nice when she ordered, great and friendly customer service). Can't wait to come to the bakery myself, which was apparently a beautiful area to sit and eat outdoors especially, and so I'll definitely come in and have this mango mousse again, as well as try some of their other stuff. Overall, I can see why they're so popular and the location is great given that we're often in the area shopping, so I'd absolutely recommend it! read more

Yum! Yum! Yum! Whenever I am at Santana Row with my girlfriends, we always stop in for some tea and dessert. I really like Cocola Bakery. They have some amazing treats such as the "3-Color Chocolate Mousse". It is a white, milk, and dark chocolate mousses on chocolate genoise, $4.60. The "Baccara (Raspberry & Dark Chocolate Mousse)" is composed of genoise, dark chocolate & raspberry mousses, hazelnut paste, with a fresh raspberry, is also very good but you have to really like raspberries because it does have a strong fruit taste. It is $4.60. Another one of my favorite items is the "Dome (Banana Crunchy Mousse)." It is an almond chocolate cake, hazelnut crunchy disc, and banana milk chocolate mousses, $4.60. Some drink items I enjoy are the cafe au lait- $2.35, hot tea- $2.10, or a vanilla latte- $3.50. The down side to this place is that it is very busy and so sometimes you can be in line for 10 minutes before you can give them your order. read more

Coming to Santana Row, I always come expecting slightly higher prices. A store is relative to its neighbors and competitors. Cocola has I would say, reasonable prices for the things they serve. I came here today with a friend in the late afternoon / early evening time, and she got the Banana Hot Chocolate, which she loves, and I got a eggplant sandwich. I love eggplant, and when I saw they had eggplant, I couldn't resist. The sandwich took a bit time to make and I guess put together. I wish the bread and "grilled" eggplant were a bit warmer, but it was still delicious. The price of sandwiches before tax is $9.90. I got a sandwich and two scoops of this celery potato salad drizzled with olive oil. Again, for the area, prices are reasonable, while if this were anywhere else, I may have taken a star away for over charging. (Rent at Santana Row MUST be insane. As a finance guy, I do take into consideration, their operational costs, including rent and other overheads, which is why I consider it probably about right to stay afloat with some profits. Of course, I have no numbers to back this.) Anyway, I would recommend it, but I myself am not able to afford coming here too often. Stopping in for a coffee will set you back about the same as if you stepped into a starbucks. The difference is marginal. read more

I felt I should have trusted my instincts and only go to a bakery for pastries/desserts, but after hearing some coworkers rave about the turkey sandwich here I had to try it for myself. The verdict? I wasn't impressed. Food - I had the roasted turkey sandwich and it was okay, but pricey at ~$11 for what it was. Too much turkey and not digging the carrot salad either but I'll take it. Service - Poor. After ordering and giving my name to the cashier for my take-out order, I took a seat near the register to wait. Then 15 minutes later a male employee called out "turkey sandwich for someone!" I went up to get it and the female employee who had my to-go bag seemed upset with me that she had called my name 5-10 times on the OTHER side of this bakery packed with people, and then added that sandwiches are "ALWAYS given on the other end." Excuse me...? First, you ask for my name but then refer to me as "someone" when I pick up my order? Secondly, if sandwiches are meant to be picked up at the other end of the store I feel that I should have been told so by my cashier. My final thoughts: do yourself a favor and stick to the desserts! read more

First time here coffee was good and chocolate croissant was good aswell however the Asian lady that attended me was somewhat rude(I didn't get her name seemed like she wanted to rush us out). Great pastries and okay staff. When I went there, it was the end of the day so they were out of most things to make a sandwich or a salad. But that being said, this establishment is a in a nicer area and should accommodate for that. The cashier didn't tell us what they were out of so every time we ordered, he said "oh we don't have that". He should of at least just told us what they do have. We needed up ordering and sitting by the deli/food prep area and saw that they did have most of the items which was weird because he said they didn't. We ended up switching our order because of that which was annoying. The place wasn't the cleanest and the staff seems young and inexperienced. This place is not worth the money. read more

Very rude staff. It seems they only take care the nearby acquaintance. I waited behind two ladies who were buying coffee from one staff at the cashier. I left the aisle vacant so people can pass by. There were five others buying bakeries in front of the counter on my left. Another staff was serving and picking merchandise for them. I was not sure either staff saw me I was wait there facing the cashier. After over 5mins finally the staff were done with the two ladies and the five person party. I stepped closer to the cashier asking for a cup of coffee to the lady who was serving the five person party. She gave me an annoyed look. She asked me if I was in line. She pointed to another young lady customer who had just arrived one min ago and stood in front of the counter on my left. She could stand there because the five person party just left that particular spot in the store. Now both the staff lady and the customer lady were telling me "the line is there", eyeing the virtual line right in front of the counter on my left. How could customer know where the line is? and how could I stand there when 5 people were right there choosing bakeries? It seems they only care about people who live nearby or who knew "where the line is". You can see the pictures I took 10mins later and try to find the line. This used to be my go-to French bakery. What happened? Ordered cakes for my birthday. Nothing like the past and nothing like the pictures. What happened to the bamboo cake. Instead of a vibrant yellow - look at this mushy color. The chocolate framboise had no mouse, it was a dry cake with dried raspberry flavor on the top. UGH! I used to think Cocola was as close to being in Paris as possible - no more.... I guess we will be going to K-Market for their fantastic pastries from now on. read more

I read over 30 recent reviews and It was obvious most were nonsense, retaliatory, most likely written by disgruntled employees and entitled clients, some are pure whining and of immature nature. Examples; My coffee cup was not full. Honey, depends on what you ordered and the cup in the picture is huge, a size that would be considered extra super large, American style cup, anywhere else and in Europe, they would laugh to see coffee being served in a tub and for that price, while likes of you complain about it not being full. You're used to 711 Big Gulp dear, ain't you? Waaa, I had to wait in line like everyone else, waaa. That is called courtesy and acting civilized. Respect for others and display of common sense. What makes you entitled? I bet you even try to cut in line too and at the right time, you will be bit** slapped for doing that. And then, we had the lady trying to impress others by throwing one single French word in there and whining the product is far from French pastry. I disagree as obviously you did not know what to order. Dear clueless, products are at times, prepared based on market demand, demographics, and client preferences. Contrary to your belief, Taco Bell is not Mexican cuisine and Oscar Mayer bologna is not real bologna. Lemonade was expensive... Obviously champagne taste on a beer budget. This place is a real treat. It's in a convenient location in Santana Row, and on a rainy day in December, it's so nice to drop in, have some tea, and enjoy a dessert ... or two ... or three. My friends and I ordered the chocolate chocolate cake, the blackberry mousse, and the pomegranate cake. I also ordered a chamomile lemon tea. We all agreed that the pomegranate cake was the best, though the blackberry mousse was a close second. The chocolate chocolate cake was dry and not very sweet - not what we expected (or wanted). The tea was pretty good, though I did not get nearly enough hot water to really enjoy the flavor for very long. The service was fine, nothing spectacular or memorable (good or bad). I was torned between a one star and 2. Eveything looks so instragram worthy but don't be fooled that it will taste decent. We were looking for a nice hot chocolate and chai latte. But what we got was steamed milk with a mediocre taste of a chai and chocolate flavor. The chai came out of a juice box and the hot chocolate was just syrup which wasn't even stirred. I usually don't ever returned food. But today was the exception. When we mentioned this the managersaid it was "a standard measurement" ....but they would add more of the syrup. Sadly even after the addition of the juice box and more syrup it didn't taste good. Will not be returning. read more

On my visit we ordered the hazelnut cake which was a delicate balance of crunchy and moist without being too sweet or very dense. Cute little bakery nestled in the heart of Santana Row. Excellent location for those dining nearby and looking for something to satisfy their sweet tooth. Cocola offers an array of pastries, but the mango mousse caught my eye. There was something about the Jamaican colors (red, yellow, and green) that made me gravitate towards it. The cake was nicely garnished with a slice of kiwi, a blueberry, and chocolate curl. The mango mousse was excellent, but the colorful cake that surrounded the mousse was the total opposite. The cake was dry and had to be chased down with water in order to swallow. I ended up removing the out layer of the cake only to get to the mousse. Was it worth $5.50? Definitely not. I am frequently visitor of the Santana Row location in San Jose CA. I never experience a horrified customer service as I did on my last night visit. I was in the drinks section as I always do to order three coffees. Then a guy pushed his employee out the register area, screaming you cut through the line. I replied for many years that I do business here I always follow procedures and I never encounter any problems. Then he replied you need to go to the end of the line to place your order. So I did. After waited for while he never offered to take my order. So I said are you going to help me then a lady answer from the back I can help you. Then I asked for three coffees then she directed me right where I was in the first place. So I asked the guy for his name. He refused to identify himself. I asked for his manager he replied he was the manager. The individual was younger person with tattoos on his hand and was about 7pm last night. He also called me an idiot front of all the customers a total unacceptable behavior in hospitality business.
