My usual is the tri-tip steak sandwich with the cabbage salad. Don't let the purpleness of the cabbage weird you out. It's good. Trust me. Turkey cranberry and brie baguette sandwich is good, and made me widen my horizons on sweets mixed with my entree. The banana hot chocolate is good, the iced chai latte is better if you got it at starbucks. I recommend the Creme Feuillette WITH the strawberries (too sweet without it), Raspberry Mousse, and Creme Brulee. The fresh fruit is really yummy, but expensive. I came here twice within 24 hours. For French Macaroons. And they were worth the hassle of dealing with Satan Row! And don't let the long lines at this place scare you away. They seem to keep things moving and you're through the line and out the door with your goodies in a reasonable amount of time. Customers are very pushy here, so it's good that the line moves swiftly because being pushed and bumped into was trying my nerves. They have two sizes of French Macaroons - small and large. Splurge on the large ones. The raspberry was my favorite. Hazelnut was very good. Hubby enjoyed the pistachio and coffee. I also tried a pineapple twist on my second visit, which was flat croissant-like pastry with coconut and pineapple. It is definitely something I would get again. Not too sweet, light and flaky. I was going to get an iced soy latte BUT... Their soy is NOT ORGANIC and they don't offer any alternative non-dairy milks. Not that I am an organic snob, but soy milk is one non-negotiable. Even Starbucks uses organic soy milk. So I have to subtract one star. The cost difference isn't that much for organic soy milk, and for the prices they charge and for how much business they seem to get, they can splurge on the organic soy milk. I'd give this place a 3.5 if possible. The sweets taste as good as they look in the display. I attached a photo of what I had today; the Elegant Cheesecake. It's delish! Even as I was taking pix of it at my table outside, several people stopped to look and comment as if I had a cute baby or something. But at $4+ each, I personally think it's more pricey here. I also recommend the banana crunch cake as well a the tiramisu. It's a cute place, small (but luckily there's in and outside seating) and always busy so you have to squeeze between people. Customer service is consistently pretty good and efficient. Was in the very back of the line, but moved pretty quickly. I wouldn't go here regularly just cause I'm not a huge sweets person, but it's good for a little treat after a meal or some wine every now and then. One of my favorite and nicest place to hang out after a long day. They stay open longer then most establishments at Santana Row and have a big selection of sweet treats with hot & cold beverages to pair up with. Change it up a bit and pick something you don't normally get and 9 times out of 9 (that's right, 9 out of 9!) you will not be disappointed. Or you can do what we do, order one of each! Make sure you have someone you can share it with!! You can people watch outside while you enjoy your treats or you can enjoy the indoor ambiance of a busy coffee shop inside. In our field trip to the Row we stopped in for the much needed honey's coffee (Honey Badger's get cranky without their coffee) and I found Cocola wonderful. Their broken pottery chairs were quaint and cute and their service was prompt and friendly. My orange juice was fabulous and my biscotti fresh as any that I've ever had. Yum! My only complaint was that I needed to ask for ice for my orange juice even though it was quite warm out. I don't know who drinks warm orange juice especially on a hot day... but sadly it isn't me. read more

Cocola sells their desserts via Costco, so naturally my mom and I were thrilled when we saw it here and in person in Santana Row! They have the best food you could probably get in the area, especially for the prices. I got a chocolate croissant and bowl of fruit, with a chocolate mocha. My mom got the same thing. A side of fruit at any restaurant would cost the same price, but at Cocola, you get significantly more here than you would anywhere else. Cocola Bakery is definitely a prime example of that saying "don't trust a book by it's covers". Pleasant for my eyes, but does nothing for my taste buds. I was doing some holiday shopping in Santana Row when my stomach started growl. I decided to stop by Cocola Bakery to grab a quick bite so I could get back to my Christmas shopping. I ordered a Black Pepper Jack Tri-Tip sandwich since it sounded so appealing. Later I decided to get a raisin pastry roll as well. The raisin roll was no good. It was hard and did not taste fresh at all. What a disappointment since it looked so welcoming and delectable in the display. I've been tricked. The sandwich finally came out and of course it looked great. But much like everything here, looking great does not mean tasting great. The sandwich lacked flavor and was quite bland. Even for somebody who was hungry, this was not good --thats when you know, all hope is lost. I have been coming to this cute little bakery since 2008 and it's somehow managed to stay modern and classic at the same time. I believe the owner is Persian but the vibe of the cafe is very French. Aside from the amazing coffee (the selection is huge, definitely not limited to the basics) they also have great baked goods and even better quick bites. My absolute favorite is the turkey cranberry sandwich, or any of their macrons. Not sure if they have WiFi and this place definitely isn't a place you would want to post up and study or do work at, its more of a social place to have a cup of coffee with a friend when you've both sworn off alcohol - until like 24 hours later. read more

The desserts from behind the glass beckon me whenever I walk by. Do I give in and order a dessert and coffee? Yup. Every. Damn. Time. A trip to Santana Row isn't complete with a visit to Cocola Bakery. They have delectable pastries and the coffee complements the pastries. They have lots of seating indoors as well as outdoors. During Fall and the Winter you can still sit outside because they have heaters. It's awesome to sit outside because of the fresh air and the people-watching. And now with the gorgeous Spring weather upon us, it'll be even nicer sitting outdoors. What's my favorite dessert? Hard to say. I love everything chocolate. And cream cheese. Ugh! I always end up spending too much money here. Everything is overpriced, but so delicious so I keep coming back. Not only that, it's open late so it's the perfect place to go after dinner or when you're craving sweets at 10pm, which often is the case for me. My favorites are the mini mousse cakes. Cocola always gets me! Whether I'm shopping or grabbing a meal, more often than not, I make a little pit stop here. They have a large variety of pastries and desserts as well as a few sandwiches and salads. Unfortunately, I'm the kind of person who finds something they like and can't stray away and try something else. SO, so far, I've tried (and by tried, I mean, eaten a million times..) the vanilla, pistachio and chocolate macarons, opera cake and the triple layer chocolate mouse cake. The 3 layer chocolate mouse cake is literally TO DIE FOR, so eat it slowly and savor every bite! Last time I was in here, we picked up a couple giant chocolate macarons (yum.) and I noticed they have miniature mouse cakes. I decided to save those for next time. As for their baked goodies, they are pretty standard. I had their strawberry cake before and it was pretty good but the strawberries were on the sour side. The cheesecake was light and fluffy but would suggest serving it with a strawberry sauce because the taste is a bit monotone. The creme brulee was alright, wasn't as sweet as I would have liked it. Their hot chocolates are huge, a friend ordered it but didn't care to taste it. They have complimentary water and also serve lunch type dishes. It's in a good location but they could do a little better with the sweets. The strawberry thing was tasty, but the real whip cream was very, very sweet. The bread was delicious and the croissant was super good as well. I was surprised to learn the croissants are made with almond flour. My daughter has a nut allergy and I always check and was very glad I did. We eat croissants many places and it's the first I've heard of a place using almond flour. I was informed most of their pastries are. I've passed this place everytime I visit Santa Row. I finally decided to try it today. Their desserts are all very eye catching and look delicious, but I settled on the fruit tart. I was actually pretty happy with my choice. The fruit was fresh and sweet. Loved the amount of Blueberries on it, and I love the Raspberry filling. It was very satisfying.
