Came here after having brunch with the girls at the Dorian. It was a street away & at first, the store sign was so small so it is easily missed but it is such a hidden gem! The owners Carlos explained that their beans are from Costa Rica farms and they are roasted very differently than other coffee shops! Excellent coffee. The aroma and flavor will only make you want to come back. Very inviting decor. All the wood you see inside is hand carved (tables, wall carving with tiles). Plenty of seating outside and fair amount inside too. This place just opened 4 months ago. It is a joy to have coffee here. Disrespectful younger gentlemen. I walked in and this employee was sitting at the table where I walked in. I asked to confirm they had a bathroom there and he said yes but the nearest public bathroom was the ferry. I said, well if I'm buying something I can use the restroom right? (I only had to pee). He said well we'd rather not trade like that. To me that was disrespectful. I'm walking around mind you I'm clean, freshly shavin etc with no reason for him to think of me like some bum on the street. I am looking for a snack and the restroom. But he'd rather refuse business because I also am confirming I can use the restroom then to help a calm respectful person like myself that walked in the door. As I walked away I did say "no disrespect, but that makes no sense" and just decided at that point not to work with them or push the issue. He yelled while I'm out the door "have a nice day" being just that much more of a jerk. I went across the street, used the Hyatt bathroom no problem, cleaned up after myself, then stopped at the sandwich shop across the street for a water and chips while I wait for a friend. The owner and operator is named Carlos; he's a super nice guy looking to build up his coffee business. He told me they're open 8-5 on weekends to start, and they're working on expanding their menu. This morning, I went to coffee Bodega while it was "pouring heavily" and I had a meeting in "15 mins" since I reached there. I chose this coffeeshop based on reviews. After I ordered, I noticed signs around the couch area which said keep calls short. I asked the barista, that I have a half an hour meeting and this is my first time here so I didn't know the rules. Can I have my meeting this time? He said, "no, we want to keep it quiet." I told him that I thought he could be more forgiving considering that this is my first time here and I was not aware of the rule and that it's raining heavily outside. I left all my purchases for them and ran to another coffeeshop to get to a meeting which was then 5 mins away. To the barista and whoever thinks like the barista: I wish you get stuck in similar situations. Not because I want you to have a bitter experience like I did! I actually wish you encounter kind and sweet people on your way so that you can learn how to be kind and compassionate. But, I wish you a similar experience, so it triggers your mirror neurons, so that you train your compassion muscles and understand why kindness matters when you are in trouble. read more

02/02/2023 I wanted to find a good spot to do some homework. When i went inside the barista was cold and rude to me. As a black women i observe how people react to my presence for just existing. I thought to myself is he acting this way towards me because im black or thats just his personality type? I continue with my order and payed 7$ for a cup of coffee thats really not worth 7$. Poorly made and with no good energy. after I got my coffee i sat down open up my lab-top then ask the barista for the wifi pw. He didn't even say nothing. He just pointed at it with an attitude and it was at a angle where i couldn't even see it so i had to get up more then 3 times ..when he could have been just a gentlemen and told me. what a jerk!. Then the older male came out from the back asking the barista if i pay for my coffee. I heard him then i move to the back area as my heart was pounding because i was so heated however i needed to finish this assignment! mins passed and they kept on looking over my way. In my head im like is this going to be a male karen moment? The older male who i assume is the manger goes over to my table where i was siting and ask me to move my bag off a little wooden stool telling me this stool is for the table near the plants. I then told him i didn't move the stool there it was there when i sat down! what sucks is that I get this treatment durning black history month and this is why black people especially women dont like going to Caucasian owned establishment! This may have become one of my favorite places in the Marina. It is a little coffee window that is operating out of Jaxons (crazy I know). They have a some pastries (always got to get myself some costco muffins) and amazing Americano. It is also reasonably priced given they are located in San Francisco, and in the Marina nonetheless. I recently took my first trip to San Francisco to do one of the most daring things that I have ever done in my life. I met someone for a pretty incredible few days that felt like a story line to an indie romantic comedy. As our trip neared, one of the things that we shared was our morning routines. Every day began with a text conversation over coffee or tea. One thing that we sought out upon arrival to the city was a place to get our morning coffee, for the first time face-to-face. Each morning we were greeted warmly by Carlos, and he even remembered our orders after only one visit. The coffee was fantastic and I appreciate that everything was farm-to-table, as I always try to support the local economy. As a Michigan native, we have some outstanding coffee roasters, but this fantastic little spot, much like the company I was keeping, far exceeded my expectations. Whenever I get to tell someone about my little get away to San Francisco, and how it was the start to a really great story, I can be sure to mention that every morning began at this very bodega. Carlos is a wonderful example of someone showing passion for what they do and he made us feel very welcome as patrons. I came to this coffee shop three times. First two times they ignored me for 20 minutes with a line growing outside while the barrista mopped and cleaned as if nothing mattered. I left. I gave it a second try, the exact same attitude as before. Ignored the customer seems to be the motto. Maybe it is a favorite customer that gets served. I still gave it a third try. Time: 9:15 am Pacific Monday morning Dec 4, 2023, Downtown San Francisco. Not a single person was inside! The barrista, same one, gives me a glance, "what do you like?" " A pour over, please", I ask. I tell him the name on the first pour over on the menu. "And the Danish please. Also I would like three of those mini alfajores. Please". He glances at me with a surprised look, "Alfajores instead of the Danish?". He seems annoyed. "Oh no, in addition to", I correct him. He smirks and grabs three minis. He heats up the Danish without asking me. I am keeping my mouth shut, watching him. He starts on the pour over. Another customer walks in, a young man from out of town. He is a nyker. He is soft and timid. The barrista suddenly picks up a conversation with him and asks friendly questions. Looks like the new customer could be trusted and he serves his Espresso order immediately. This customer's order took 5 minutes or so. I am still waiting. I see there is a display of variety of chocolates from Colombia at the counter. I speak in Spanish marveling at the chocolates. The barrista is surprised. He asks me where I am from. I say my origins. He asks the name of my country once again. Oh shit! I am definitely on the "bad" list now. I ask him where is he from. He says Venezuela. I say, that's cool. I grab my order and thank him then walk out. Worth a fourth try? I don't think so. Coffee quality: on the acidic side, medium roast. Low depth. Pastry: over heated Danish, rubbery from microwave heating. Super oily and dense. Alfajores? Glad I got the minis. Ya lo estoy decepcionada. read more

I ended up drinking my coffee there while chatting with the owner, Carlos, and his son. I live in North Beach and make a trip out to their Fillmore location any chance I get. The coffee was great (got the salted maple latte) but the wait was really long, about 20 minutes to get the coffee despite only two people ahead of us. The guy who took our order and gave us the coffee wasn't super friendly and seemed new/flustered. One of our orders had oat milk, the other 2% milk. He gave us both lattes but didn't say which one was which, and walked away. We asked him, he ignored us while he finished what he was doing, then finally came back to answer our question. Stumbled upon Coffee Bodega while walking toward the Ferry Building in SF on a beautiful Friday afternoon. There was an intriguing sign on the street claiming "farm-to-table" coffee. I know the phrase in terms of food, but never associated it with coffee. I HAD to stop of course. I only drink one cup of coffee a day, with an occasional shot of espresso when the mood strikes. I'm so glad I stopped. The place is warm, welcoming, and charming. Exactly what you might picture an upscale, yet unpretentious coffee shop should be; immediately I liked the establishment. Finally, I tasted the coffee and thought it was bright and nicely balanced. The "staff", at the time of my visit, was a dad and son duo - both very charming. I usually don't write reviews but I have to... Coffee is good but croissants are 1-2 days old at a minimum. And they charge them at regular price. The guy tried to warm it up on the microwave. I asked why and he said "to bring the butter up"? No French person would ever warm up a fresh croissant... he was basically saying "to try to revive this very old piece of pastry". I wish he had just said the croissants were old and given me the chance to choose if I still wanted them. They were super dry. They had even been refrigerated. I didn't say anything to not spook other people from the shop. Owners if you want to be a "farm to table" restaurant(whatever that means) food needs to be fresh to start with. read more
