Wow! I lived around here for years and didn't know there could be good places like these hidden in that corner until after I moved. It seems to be classified under hippie talk to want freshly roasted coffee but i'd argue it's not even coffee if it's past 2-3 weeks of roast date. Everything that's good about coffee is gone after that time so the bags of coffee you buy at supermarkets are past the best before date. Not even organic stores sell fresh coffee. Now to this roastery. This place is awesome. The price of coffee is amazing value. The bags are black and have vents for proper storage and zip locks for convenience. The coffee tastes amazing and it's perfectly roasted. I went on Saturday and there wasn't much foot traffic which kinda worried me cause this place is a gem. People love to mention starbucks but wow they don't even come close. Not even some of the better cafes in Dallas do. It's conveniently by the highway, ample parking space, perfect outside seating due to less foot traffic and amazing coffee! read more

They have AMAZING coffee. They have AMAZING cold brew. I've worked for a coffee roaster and many coffee shops over the years and can definitely say that these guys know what they're doing. Best coffee in Plano! I hope they get a better location soon that is an actual coffee shop. You can go buy coffee and get a cold brew but it's not set up like a shop where you can hang out. Coffee Del Rey is such a cute coffee shop with everything you might need, they have syrups, coffee, and even t-shirts. My mom found them online and we decided to try them as we're both coffee lovers. We both got the Del Rey latte and it was absolutely divine. They said it has some hazelnut, brown sugar, and cinnamon, all of my favorite things to have in coffee. I got mine with almond milk and it was smooth and delicious, it had such a rich coffee taste, and mixed with the flavors created one of my all-time favorite lattes. If I didn't have a Nespresso machine I would definitely be buying their coffee beans as well. Will definitely be back! read more

Local roasters are few and far between, and if you want the best testing cup of coffee you're going to want to go with fresh roasted whole beans. Coffee del Rey has all their bags marked with the date roasted so you know you're getting a fresh batch, and the varieties available are more than ample. Great place to grab a to go coffee. They roast and serve only there coffee beans. Their beans are of good quality. I really liked the Burundi I had. Oh and the 12oz pour over is only $2.00! Yes $2.00! It was a surprise to me. Also, they have have many other whole beans for purchase. I loved the fact they are sold in 16 oz. bags instead of the normal 12 oz. The Burundi I had was a great cup. They also serve espresso but not espresso drinks. I did notice a nitro tap. Maybe they serve nitro cold brew? I would recommend this place if you want great coffee without all the fu fu stuff. Not going to get a pumpkin spice latte but you will get a great pour over. The other coffee I purchased was the Brazilian Yellow Bourbon. I will cup this tomorrow. While in the Dallas area you should try this place. read more

We found Coffee Del Rey when we were searching for whole espresso beans without a coat of oil for our new supermatic expresso maker, Coffee Del Rey delivered. Coffee Del Rey is a wonderful micro roaster. My wife and I ate at Spoons Cafe in McKinney and my wife couldn't get enough of their coffee. So the last time we were there we asked what kind of coffee they used, and it turns out they use this wonderful local roaster. Our next stop was Coffee Del Rey (admittedly difficult to locate the first time, even though it's in a strip mall right off of Park and 75). The owner is very kind and was willing to talk to us and educate us about various roasts and helped us to pick out the Philosopher's Blend and could not be happier. Next time I think I'm going to try the Sunshiney Day Blend too. We've been using the Philosopher's Blend in our superautomatic espresso machine and it is heavenly. read more

I primarily come here for their espresso roast - it's the best I've found and I've tried pretty much all the other local Dallas roasters + what can be found at Central Market. Amazing place. I go here to get freshly roasted beans and they always turn out delicious. You will find bags of beans roasted on the same day or maybe only two days ago.
