    Raspberry sorbet with chocolate chips
    Hart P.

After a spicy meal, I craved something sweet. Cold Stone Creamery fit the bill. The raspberry sorbet is the softest ice cream in their freezer (no milk) but their delicate touch mixed the chocolate chips just right and didn't turn the sorbet to mush. I was in and out with a mid afternoon order on a weekday. Glad I found them.

Smiles and sharing came with this scoop. The staff was really accommodating and helpful in making my daughter sure she got the right mix.

I experienced one of the best services at a Coldstone's ever. We came in after lunch around 330pm, and the person that served us (Alexis) was very understanding and helpful to make the perfect mix. Even offered to change it out of our wasn't perfect. My daughter loved it so much she scooped all the melted liquid with her spoon. Thank you for making our daddy daughter day extra special. You guys are amazing!

Famous baked cake batter with chopped brownies; all in waffle cone

With famous middle eastern ice-cream aficionado Mashti Malone's about a block away, popular established corporate juggernauts are vying to oust the little Mom and pop store. With rising prices though, cold stone sells great ice-cream no mistake in that, but it's something that customers such as I will return to only on occasion. This of course is strictly to see what new creations they have too offer. Their classic bake battered cake ice-cream is a good choice for any patrons otherwise unfamiliar with their offerings. Recommended to whip in a couple homemade side brownies into the cake-batter and garnished atop a regular waffle cone. Cold Stone might not be as good as Mashtis or Newbies Salt and Straw, but don't count it out. It still outperforms baskin Robbins and tom and jerrys and most soft-serve niche food trucks.

We visited this place on the Christmas afternoon and the place was not as crowded as we hoped it would be. We were standing behind 6 people and had to wait almost 20-30 minutes before we could choose our ice creams. There was only one woman who was preparing and serving the ice creams and managing the counter and payment as well. She was trying her best to keep pace and apologized to all of us for keeping us waiting for so long but I find it strange that there were no more employees on Christmas afternoon at such a busy place.

It taste like your licking the inside of a undefrosted freezer and I can't tell if it's from the fridge it was stored in or the frozen stone slab they mixed it on but the taste permeated throughout the meal tasting it mostly in the back of the throat or mouth.

Their flourless chocolate cake is the best and not too sweet at all. We love their cookies. The service is ever so nice. You can order ahead and pick up or just walk in. It is never too crowded. The vanilla cake was pretty good - I liked how they use cream cheese frosting, as not many places do that. I do think that the cake itself was dry (perhaps because it was the size exposed to air). The chocolate cake slice was pretty good! It's one of the better chocolate cakes I've had, where both the cake and the frosting taste like chocolate. It was moist, as well, which was good. The flourless chocolate cake was decent - I liked their buttercream, but the texture of the cake itself seemed a little off. The bakery is adorable and there are so many cakes to look at. The workers are also very nice and helpful.

Awhile back, I took my 4 year- old there for a cupcake. As we were waiting in line, the owner got in to a conversation with the lady ahead of us. They complained extensively about the clientele coming from The Horror Bodega next door. She said that they weren't "her kind of people" and that the people from the comic store across the street weren't any better. She went on and on about how if she had known that "those kind of people" would be buying her cupcakes, she would have never rented the new location and how she didn't feel safe because they dressed like devils and wore ridiculous makeup. We couldn't leave because my kid was committed to get this cupcake, but I will not spend another dime at this shop. In response to the owners comment below: I walked in at the same time as the woman you had this conversation with and she left before I did. Your shop is small and it is impossible to only hear a portion of your conversation. You can try to reframe what you said after the fact but I understood exactly how you felt about your new clientele. I sincerely hope that the ridiculously made up devils chose to spend their money somewhere where their hard earned cash is appreciated and they are made to feel welcomed and safe. You have certainly lost a customer in me.

While the flavor variety is awesome and they don't skimp on fillings, man are these cakes typically dry and a little dense. Had the tropical coconut pineapple cake for a friend's retirement party in December and while the price of a small cake is steep, it was very good. I was impressed! Another friend and I debated what the best berry and cream cake was. I said WholeFoods. She said SusieCakes. We taste tested. We both stood our ground on our opinions. Last weekend,I had the strawberry cake at a birthday party and it was very dry and dense. And the baby's "smash cake" never really got any deeper than the frosting layer, which leads me to believe it was also dense. While I was doing my friend the favor of picking up said birthday cakes, I noticed the pineapple coconut was back in season, so I came to SusieCakes the next day to get a slice. Very friendly staff! But very dry cake. So disappointing after paying ten dollars for a slice. Overall, the vibes are always good. The flavors are great. But the texture is just not it.

I'm no stranger to the complexities and different layers of textures and flavors that go into the making of the "perfect" macaron, and I have had my fair share over my foodie career. But these girls are doing something truly special with their little concoctions that pack more punch per macaron than a dozen cakes put together. Each individual one has the perfect amount of flavor and balance of sweetness, and you can really taste the delicate undertones of whatever it is their putting in there; whether it's a slightly sweet Raspberry, a nutty Black Sesame, a sweet & savory Salted Caramel, or the ever-popular Ube Sweet Potato, I have yet to get one that I didn't absolutely love. Macarons aren't the only sweets they're cranking out, either. They also make these tiny adorable cupcakes that are almost too cute to eat- although that never stopped me- and as with the macarons, they're not overpowering in their sweetness, but perfectly balanced, with enough heft to satisfy that sweet tooth, but small enough that you won't hate yourself later, (unless you're like me and scarf down four, at once). So, if you're fortunate to come across these beauties at your next festival or event, DO NOT pass them up. They are worth every penny, and then some.

That's a lot more than a typical order, but Sheila was up for the challenge. I needed 8 flavors of macarons in two hues of red, blue, green and yellow. Sheila made one special trip to our office to see the furniture she needed to match the colors to, and then made another trip to go through the different types of display containers for the cookies. The displays matched the shape of the style of furniture in each room - she was so wonderful about working with our space to ensure the cookies were a highlight and enhancement to the space. Not only was Sheila great at focusing on the details of the event, she was flexible. We had to move the event date twice - not something either of us wanted but even so she was very reasonable with the overage charges due to the change of plans and rolled with the punches really well, which says a lot of a smaller, independent vendor. I am burying the lead here, but the product is AMAZING. The french macarons are terrific. I knew the Yelp reviews were true when I tasted the sample box and knew I'd have a hard time picking "just" 8 flavors for our event. The day of the event people were moving quickly from room to room in order to try all of the flavors. Salted Caramel was gone in a flash and Mint Chocolate was another favorite. I personally think the Ube Coconut is a fantastic unusual flavor everyone should try. So my review on the actual cookies is not just from me, but 300+ employees where I work who were gobbling them up with smiling faces.
