Just Trying to Live My Best Life, 1 Cone @ a Time & Save on Parking lol So let me set the scene; Its Thursday night in LA & i'm outside cuz Im a single woman approaching 40, & I've decided that the best way to do that live my best life, is to be outside and enjoy everything--see shows, eat good food, hang out with friends, and let's be honest...do a little people-watching. Beautiful men and women alike. I'm here for it. This week , that meant two back-to-back nights at the Hollywood Bowl. On the second night, I decided to switch it up and reconfigure my parking at Ovation Hollywood (formerly Hollywood & Highland). if you didn't know this, you can catch the shuttle bus to the ball directly from ovations for six dollars or just show them your metro pass and it's free. I'm out here giving y'all the game and I hope you're listening ! So i'm tryna figure out how i can finesse the whole parking situation. That was the plan. Cuz parking in LA... sigh its never JUST parking. It's a strategic, overpriced game of survival. Here's the situation: * Parking at Ovation is $25 max. * If you're seeing a movie, you get three hours for $3 with vaidation * Other types of validation get you two hours for $4, and then it jumps to $1 for every 15 minutes after that. Let me tell you something. By the time you drive in the parking structure, sit through the internal traffic hellscape, and find a spot, 30 minutes been done passed!! So I start thinking... I'm only going to be gone for three hours to catch this show. If I can just find a validation somewhere cheap, I might be able to shave down that $25. But of course, nobody at Ovation is out here volunteering that they validate. There are no big signs. No friendly "WE VALIDATE PARKING" banners. Everyone's acting like it's some underground poker game and the validation cards are being held tight. So I start walking. And walking. And walking. (Ovation is like a maze with escalators, by the way.) Then--I spot a Ben & Jerry's. Cue the light bulb moment. This Ben & Jerry's shop is located on the bottom level towards Hollywood Boulevard Which I think used to be just a kiosk tucked into the upper level of Ovation, right across from the movie theater. I guess they got money now lol it was like let's do it big. LOL It's got the signature colorful walls, the chalkboard menus, and that sweet smell of sugar and waffle cones wafting into the air. I head in, do a quick scan, and see cones priced at $2 and $3. start doing the math... If I can get validated for buying a cone, that might be the move. because a small single cone of ice cream is eight dollars!!!!! When you can go to the grocery store and get the small little carton for six dollars!!!! WHAT THE FUDGGEEE so yes, definitely going with the cone by itself. I ask the young woman behind the counter if they validate--and she beams and says, "Yes, we do!" YASSSSSSS Lawd!! gotta sea salt and caramel waffle cone for $3. It was super pretty and honestly, tasted better than expected--though a little too sweet for my personal preference. didn't finish it, ended up tossing it before boarding the shuttle, but I wasn't mad at it. It served its purpose. By the time I got back from the Bowl, my parking had been reduced from $25 to $13. Add the $3 cone, and I'm sitting at $16 total. Still cheaper than paying the full parking rate, and I got a snack out of it. Not bad. If you're at Ovation Hollywood and need a validation hack, Ben & Jerry's is a solid option. The staff was friendly, the transaction was quick, and they're not stingy about validating--even for a small purchase. That's rare in LA. And next time I'll actually get some ice cream in the cone. read more

My first experience here was great, so I had some high expectations for this time around. I went in around 7pm and although it was busy, we were helped really quickly. We felt welcomed by the staff, they were all friendly. The selection was great, everything looked fresh. The location was clean and peaceful despite its surroundings. Overall a happy update. We were in Hollywood on a hot day. Unfortunately, Ovation is a Mecca of chains. With all the LA indie chains, there's nothing better here to represent the local foodie scene than your regular stores that I don't go much to anymore. Good reason for that. Maybe tourists might be comfortable to a place like Ben & Jerry's but we could do better here! Crowded store, customer service decent, prices on the higher side. I got 2 scoops for $9 more than at indie shops. Got Cherry Garcia and Strawberry Cheesecake and barely had any fruit in it. Cherry Garcia tastes better when you get it in the supermarket. I was surprised by the lack of flavors these scoops had. I tried this location because was hot and I was in the area, other than that, I'd avoid it in the future. On a lovely rain soaked day while taking a little stroll through the Highlands after we grabbed lunch at the La popular restaurant a tantalizing scent of warm sugary sweetness drifted up my nostrils, and I was drawn to Ben & Jerry's. Smells heavenly in there. I was pretty full from lunch, so didn't order anything but also the prices are quite ridiculous. I think it was nine dollars for one scoop and $12 for a waffle cone. Come on guys! Lady behind the counter was kind of rude, so we left, but really fun decor and the waffle cones look delicious. Holy cow! What's with all the bad reviews? I thought this place was pretty darn good in regards to the many different Ben & Jerry's stores I have been to. This one is right next to the hall of fame too in such a popular tourist part of Hollywood. The store had a constant flow of guests and smells so good from the outside! The scent of waffle cones can be smelled from the walk to the mall onto the outside street. My friend has actually never had Ben & Jerry's before so she was a bit slow in ordering but the woman at the front was so patient with us and even validated our parking. Stopped by this location for a treat while parking at Hollywood & Highland. I had heard that they had a few vegan flavors. I tried the chocolate chip cookie dough. Definitely delicious. Of course the price of one cup here you can buy a pint at the store but everyone knows that. Bonus they validate parking, although it didn't work for me this time, good to know. Shout out to the fine staff at this location of Ben and Jerry's. I can't imagine how tired they must have been with it being a high traffic location on a Saturday when the Dolby had back to back performances of the popular kids show Bluey. The staff was so kind and understanding to kids who wanted to try flavors and had good solutions for the epic "I want a cone" demands of kids a bit too young for Phish food on a cone. I stopped in on a nice sunny day with bae... post Dave & Busters shenanigans (on the second level) and was feeling the need to scream for ice cream. We walked in to a well laid out maze of sectioned line dividers (of retractable belt variety) and a well lit room of frozen goodness. This location resides right at the foot of the entrance to the shopping center across from the escalator. There were three cool... let's call them... cone artist who were working when we stepped in. Two lovely ladies were helping another customer... the only very kind gent on duty was ever so helpful when it came to questions about the non-dairy flavors. He knew/knows all. They have two or more sorbets and two non-dairy ice creams offered at the Hollywood & Highland Shopping Center... the Chocolate Almond Fudge Chip and the one I nabbed two scopes of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough I shared but also dominated via cone over cup (vegan powers activate). I did only want one scope but was glad they topped me off with another. I think it's great that they do have more than half a handful of options for the non-dairy ice cream lovers in the world as most other locations only carry one non-dairy ice cream and maybe two sorbet options... I hope they add in another one or two as this is Hollywood and there are a lot of non-dairy peeps in the world or people who go with acai or froyo instead because of limited options. Will definitely stop into this immaculate tourist friendly lure of a ice cream paradise again soon even though they're a little pricey. read more

Great! Location right on Hollywood Blvd. Was walking the area on a Friday night and wanted dessert and happened to see this. I love Ben and Jerry's so this was an immediate yes. Greeted right when we walked in. It wasn't too busy. My date asked about popular flavors and sampled them. He ended up getting a double scoop of phish food and salted caramel. I got a kids waffle bowl of non dairy chocolate chip cookie dough. Soooo good. Both servers were great. Including the lady with the purple hair! There was some tables inside that you could sit and and relax and enjoy your ice cream but we ended up eating outside just cause it was a kinda nice night out. Came here to get parking validation and got 2 scoops. Not a big fan of tons of mix-ins in my ice cream so I got the strawberry cheesecake. The ice cream was not icey the strawberry was fruity and the graham cracker crumbs and cream cheese added a richness to the ice cream. Memorial Day weekend, Saturday afternoon... during a pandemic. I was the only person around, and their store was open. They have tables lined up against the counter so you can't get close to the ice cream windows. Also, I think I heard them say currently there is currently no sampling of flavors. They'd re-opened two days earlier, and the guy who scooped my ice cream said I was his first customer in two months, this being his first shift back. I had peanut butter chocolate something, and it was nice to sit out in the open plaza area of the very empty Hollywood & Highland. In fact most of Hollywood Boulevard was empty. To whom it may concern, today I went to the Ben and Jerry's Hollywood place to get some ice cream for my family. We went there very happy as we were walking the walk of fame for a few hour and we wanted to just take a break. When one of the employees Cynthia greeted me with an attitude. I try to ignore it as I only wanted to get my ice cream and leave. During our encounter every time she handed me an ice cream ( 5 of them) she did it as if she is trying to handed it to me very aggressively/throwing. Which one of them was not properly put good and when she handed to me aggressively a pice fell off and I politely ask her to give a new scoop. She passive aggressive told me that the ice cream is not properly made/secure as hinting that she is not going to give me a new one. I ask again politely that it wouldn't be fair I paid for a half a scoop that she aggressively did not secure and when it was handed to me it fell off. Then I said if I could have a new one. She refused and ask me to throw away the one I have when I ask to add a little more. Then I ask, if she wanted in the trash she can just take that one and give me a new one. Yet again she jacks the ice cream cone from me and just tossed it super hard across the wall were the trash can is. Then she just gave me a new one with more anger then ever and yet again she give it to me as if she try to abruptly tossing towards me. I stay quiet to read her frustration as I did not know why she was taking her anger at me. When she was charging me. I ask her if she was feeling ok, she answers me with a very aggressive and rude tone. "what do you care, I don't need your pity" I then said that I know she's not ok and I expressed my concerns to her because of the way she handed my ice cream cones. Then she started to curse at me saying to me to go "fuck myself" and call me a "Karen" I actually laughed that she call me that because I only ask for a little more ice cream. I then ask to have her name and she refused and said that it's not my concern. Ok I still try to ask if she needed help as I could see she was having some sort of mental breakdown and I try to advise her to take a break so she doesn't have to be like that to someone else. She yet again curse at me to "fuck off". I said ok can I have my receipt and thats where I saw her name and I said Thank you Cynthia. Now her other coworker instead of trying to help that situation he try to encourage the behavior and told us what else do we wanted in which I said that I am concern about her behavior towards us because we didn't do anything. Then my aunt saw the situation and try to also let her know that it was not ok. She once again curse at us and I started to record her attitude not only you can see her behavior but she also flip us off and told again to fuck off. I then told her "thank you Cynthia and you are doing amazing job" she continued to curse. I'm sure the cameras in your facility can check how bad her behavior was towards us. I'm sure she doesn't care how this review will affect her, she probably just hates being there and doesn't care how she treats the clients and it's not her business to run so to her is just not important. At the end of the day she will still get her paycheck and leave. I just wanted to raise that concern and I hope she gets the help she needs. If management need to see the video I will be happy to provide it. read more

I have visited twice and both times the staff were rude towards foreign customers. I understand it can be frustrating when someone takes their time as they order their ice cream, but if english is not someone's first language why are we rushing them to say their words?
