    Lemon Whipped Ice Cream

Amazing ice cream and great service! I was craving ice cream so stopped here to grab some before my long drive. I got their new flavor, Whipped Lemon-- it's non-dairy! I added strawberries, raspberries & gummy bears :) The service was great and all flavors were well stocked! This location was clean and no line when I arrived at 3pm :D

Very clean ice cream shop. The service was fast and friendly. Prices were fair and ice cream was great. Clean bathrooms for the customers. I recommend this place for my friends and family.

Ordered an ice cream cake from Grub Hub for a family member's birthday. They didn't have the original order we made via the app, but that could always be a grub hub thing. Asked for "Happy Birthday" to be written on it and this is what came "Happy Bday" written as if a preschooler wrote it. Disappointed because their cakes are pricey and it would have looked better if it didn't say anything on it. The ice cream is amazing, but this was very disappointing.

Love this cute little shop! Ice cream was sooo delish and made exactly how I wanted it! The guy working behind the counter was super cool and very helpful with flavor combinations. I saw the reviews weren't that good here and didn't want to pass by giving a good review when it was totally deserving! Atmosphere: laid back and friendly. Inside: only a handful of chairs and some small patio chairs outside. Not good for large parties. Location: it is upstairs and there is an escalator to get up but you can only take stairs back down. All in all it's a good store, but location is not completely user friendly to all. Would visit again when back in town.

Chef Maeve Rochford, the owner of Sugar & Scribe won Season 2 of Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship. She is also known for competing on Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay and Kids Baking Championship. We recommend trying the following: *Butter Poached Lobster Benedict with Poached eggs, Maine Lobster, Arugula, Parsley hollandaise with side of potatoes and bacon. *Blueberry Love Pancakes with blueberry compote, snow sugar and white chocolate mousse. Both orders were excellent 5/5 stars. I tried the Horchata Latte but couldn't really taste the horchata and wasn't sweet enough for me. I wouldn't order this latte again, but maybe y'all would enjoy the flavor better. The restaurant has outdoor seating with heating lamps and welcomes well behaved dogs in their outdoor patio. We had excellent customer service and look forward to coming back! Give this place a try! Happy Yelping :)

The area is right by the La Joya beach so it was a bit busy and we couldn't find parking in the parking lot they had but luckily there was plenty of parking not too far away. Sugar and Scribe has a very inviting decor and atmosphere. They have a very colorful patio and super cute interior as well. It had a very spring/summery vibe with all the beautiful flower decorations. When we arrived we were lucky that there was no wait, and we got seated right away. Our server was sweet and attentive and came out order right away. I decided to get the fried hot honey chicken and biscuits and my boyfriend got the fried chicken and waffles. Unfortunately, my fried chicken and biscuits were way too salty and I struggled to taste any hot honey. It just tasted like watered down tobasco sauce, which was disappointing! My boyfriend said he loved his fried chicken and waffles. He also thought my chicken wasn't too salty, but I felt it was for me personally. So I guess it might be a preference thing. Overall, we had a good experience there. I would give them another shot and maybe try something else next time!

When I eat that, I prefer to takeoff the hard layers and then savor the yummy middle separately. It's a whole experience! Well, I originally came for the croissant. I also ordered some Too Good To Go bags to see about testing other things out. To my surprise, there were some savory croissants bread and Napoleon's. I always assume Napoleon's were overrated and then I got to try this and thought wow I get why they make these now.

When I placed the order, the employee asked if I would like to leave a gratuity. I told her I preferred to wait until I received the order, but she said they only accept tips in advance. I found that surprising, but I went ahead and left the tip anyway, expecting excellent service and attention to detail. The large strawberry cake was disappointing. It contained whole (not sliced) strawberries, (one had the green stem still attached) baked into the cake. Not only was this unexpected, but it also made the cake difficult to slice and serve. And truthfully, it wasn't very enjoyable biting into large whole strawberries. The cake itself was good (but not great), but for something costing close to $100, I expected much better. We also specifically ordered three vegan, gluten-free mini cakes. When my daughter picked up the order, she was told they had forgotten to make them. Instead, they offered gluten-free substitutes and, for the vegan option, a muffin because that was all they had available. She was left with no real choice but to accept the substitutions. Okay, what can we do, but why they didn't make them or call in advance to let us know? The biggest letdown was the response when I called. Rather than acknowledging the mistakes or trying to make things right, I was told that this is simply how they make the strawberry cake and that the substituted desserts were an acceptable replacement. After some back and forth, they offered to refund my tip, but I declined because I didn't feel that was the right thing to do. I also asked whether I could at least receive the missing gluten-free mini cake we had ordered, but was told they couldn't provide one because they didn't know whether the baker was available to make it. Mistakes happen, but when customers spend over $120 on a special-occasion order, you expect better quality and service. Based on my experience, I was disappointed with both the execution of the order and the way my concerns were handled, and I would hesitate to use this bakery again.

They don't have a lot of seating inside the cafe, but there are lots of tables and chairs outside at the plaza area. We were incredibly happy and super impressed with every single thing we got--from the drinks, to the desserts, to the famous halo-halo. Everything was delicious and perfectly balanced in flavor; none of them were overly sweet or bland. Here's everything we tried: ORIGINAL HALO-HALO: 9/10 This one was the more traditional version, having the brown sugar milk base with ube ice cream on top. It was really good, a little more on the sweet side. But I just loved and preferred the upside down version more. UPSIDE DOWN HALO-HALO: 10/10 This one had the ube base with vanilla ice cream on top. I loved this one so much more than the original. I really liked how the ube flavor stood out. I just think this one was more balanced compared to the original. UBE MATCH LATTE: 9.5/10 I love that the ube flavor was prominent enough here that you can really taste it with the matcha. None of the two overpowered the other--it was the perfect balance. It wasn't too sweet either. I also appreciate that they did not charge an additional fee for any of their milk substitutes. UBE BUTTER BAR: 9/10 This dessert tastes *so much* like the ube halaya we have and LOVE in the Philippines. Ultimate *chef's kiss*! UBE CRACK CHEESECAKE: 9.5/10 Creamy and luscious with a really good amount of ube flavor! Would gladly have another piece of this dessert, or five. UBE LECHE FLAN CUPCAKE: 7/10 I had high hopes for this one, but the leche flan on top was not as soft and bouncy as a leche flan should be. I found it a bit dry, like it was sitting out for way too long. The cupcake was okay--good ube flavor, but a bit dense and dry too. MILO CUPCAKE: 9.5/10 This one was really good--the cupcake was moist and fluffy with a great amount of chocolate flavor. I think the Milo was only in the icing, but I only got a slight hint of it there. Still very very tasty though! Overall, this was by far the best and most Filipino-tasting ube I've ever had here in the US--and we've had a lot of ube here. Will definitely be back!

THE BAKED BEAR @ PACIFIC BEACH…read more There isn't a dedicated parking lot, but you can usually find street parking or neighborhood parking nearby. Personally, I've always had the best luck with neighborhood parking since there are typically more spots available. Just keep in mind that Pacific Beach gets extremely busy, especially on weekends. By the afternoon, parking can be pretty difficult because everyone is heading to the beach and all the restaurants and dessert spots in the area. I've been wanting to try The Baked Bear for a while, specifically for their famous ice cream sandwiches. One of the best parts is that you get to customize your sandwich by choosing your cookie flavors and ice cream. I went with the Blue Monster ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies, and it was so good! It was super flavorful, and the cookies paired perfectly with the ice cream. My only downside is that the portions are much bigger than I expected. The ice cream sandwich is definitely large enough to share between two people, so I'd definitely recommend splitting one unless you're really craving something sweet. It was delicious, but it left me feeling a little too full afterward. The staff was very friendly, and the service was great. The inside of the shop is on the smaller side, though, and I did notice that the tables were a bit sticky and dirty when we sat down. I wish they cleaned the tables more frequently as customers came and went. Overall, I'd still recommend stopping by if you're in Pacific Beach. It's a great dessert spot that's only a short walk from the beach, making it the perfect treat after spending the day by the ocean.
