After two plus decades vegetarian, this was the type of NYC restaurant I would dream of as a kid. The menu is full of classics that I never would have the opportunity to try other wise. The Coletta Chicken Caesar was crunchy, creamy, and hit the spot. The chicken was tasty and textured, and my carnivorous partner loved every bite too. The hot honey pizza was delicious. A delightful build of heat with crema and great crust. Cocktails were great as well, my Fumo Di Mare was amazing. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders were super lovely and attentive. The restaurant is cozy and well lit. We had a memorable Valentine's Day and left with a list of dishes I can't wait to go back to try. read more

Here is my take on these: Spaghetti Carbonara - this had such a nice aromatic flavor! Very good with the seasoning. The pasta was cooked perfectly. And I loved the bits of "pancetta" inside. Hot Honey Pizza - the first pie we tried. Surprisingly really spicy! If you're a spicy food fan, then this should be your choice. The pizza dough was great quality - thick and soft with a nice crisp. Nice drizzle of honey on top. Wild Mushroom Truffle Pizza - very generous with the mushrooms and super truffle flavor. The caramelized onions complemented it well. Like the Hot Honey Pizza, they gave a generous portion. Can easily be shared with a few people. I can't decide if I liked this or the Hot Honey Pizza more. I really liked both! Last but not least, we ordered the pistachio ice cream. Also a generous portion! But it was okay. I would have liked to taste some more pistachio flavor. The fig inside was good! I was hungry and so excited to sit down to have a nice meal. The hostess must have been new or something because she seemed to be confused about why I was there. She eventually gestured to the bar where I sat and had a meal. I ordered the Steak Tartare, Sunchoke and Scallop Risotto and tiramisu. The dishes came out quickly and at the right times. Loved the tartare. Great flavor and texture. The risotto came out undercooked. The rice was chalky and hard. I tried to eat around it and ultimately sent it back because it was inedible. I should've cut my losses but instead i ordered the sausage ravioli. While waiting for the ravioli the manager(?) came over to "explain" that the texture of the risotto was because it was a "gluten free" rice and it expands. I was really confused because rice is always gluten free...I am not sure if it was a micro-aggression or she was trying to save face, but it was incredibly annoying because I love risotto and I have eaten enough rice in my life to know when it is fully cooked and when it is not. Some bites of the ravioli were good. The filling to pasta dough ratio seemed off. The filling was a dime sized ball of sausage and there was too much pasta. It was all very dense and heavy. The tiramisu was bland and has no espresso (or any other) flavor whatsoever The food was a disappointment but what made it worse was the service. It started with the hostess and continued up the chain. I was the only person sitting at the bar but had to flag the bartender down at every step of service. My glass of water was empty and never refilled. The manager "checked in" to see if everything was okay with the ravioli but didn't notice the empty glass. The food runners were great in the brief moments they stopped by. Maybe it was a bad day for the staff. Delicious vegan Italian food!! Been here a few times so far and it is easily one of my favorite vegan restaurants in New York City. Highly recommend trying the pizza here. The crust is PERFECT- slightly crispy out the outside with a nice chewy dough on the inside WOW. I thought Double Zero was my favorite vegan brick oven/wood fired style pizza, but after trying Coletta it is even better. I have tried the meatball pizza, and the mushroom truffle pizza. Both are great! Truffle is def is great option if you love mushrooms. They have a large variety of appetizers- recommend the vegan calamari made of mushrooms. For pastas, I really enjoyed the pasta vodka which usually isn't vegan- the sauce is slightly creamy but not too heavy. The "squid ink" ravioli is very unique. I remember not liking the Alfredo too much? A bit too heavy, but could be personal taste. I think you just have to see what you order throughout your meal, and balance things out. I would recommend mixing tomato based and non-tomato based (creamier) items! Tiramisu here is a delicious way to round off the meal- great coffee and liqueur flavor. Drinks are ok- depends if you like cocktails with your meal. They do have a vegan espresso martini so that's a nice option. They seem to always have specials so there should be something new to try! Service was wonderful, in addition to a beautiful restaurant. Great ambience- stylish, modern but still cozy. Nice all-occasion place, whether it is for a celebration, date or catch up with friends. Service was fantastic - so many offerings sound good so we tried a few different plates, but didn't want to overcrowd our small table. Our waitress offered to stagger our orders so we could enjoy multiple plates which worked out perfectly. Now onto the food... and I'll preface this with I'm not vegan at all, but have had plenty of vegan foods. - Chicken Caesar Salad with balsamic glazed chicken was a surprise hit for me. I came here with my baby in a stroller to meet my friend who also had her baby with her in a stroller. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and our babies. They shifted tables and even attached an extra table for us in case we needed more room. We were so comfortable and it made the dining experience so much better. The food was phenomenal! My friends and I went for dinner on a weeknight a few weeks ago after I read a rave review in "The Daily News". I wasn't sure how Kosher and vegan would be but I was intrigued . The first issue was the temperatur. We were seated in the back, and it felt like the air wasn't on. I asked our waiter if he could turn it up. It was a little better after that but still not very comfortable. The food, fortunately, was the best part. We shared the Fig And "Feta" Salad, which was one of the best salads I've had in a long time. The citrus came through nicely, and all the other flavours made for a really flavourful dish. Great texture too. I would have put in more figs and mushrooms. One of my friends had the rigatoni and enjoyed that but the signature dish is the pizza. My friend had the Wild Mushroom Truffle and said it was very good. I ordered the Fig Jam And Prosciutto Pizza. The pie looked beautiful and I loved the faux-prosciutto. It had a great texture and smokines, and was a great goo contrast to the fig jam. The base was like a puffy bread and it was baked well: not blackened or dry. I would have liked a little more in the amount of toppings. For dessert we had the Chocolate Budino. My friends liked it a lot but I thought it had an unpleasant after taste. And right after a waiter set the dessert on the table, we got the check. That was pretty rude and unprofessional. And no one came over to check on us during the meal to see if there was anything we needed or how we were enjoying the meal. The food was good but the space and service were lacking. We started with the incredible warm bread with olive oil, and fig jam. The JAM!! Give me 5. I almost wish I had more vegan friends so I could return to Coletta for more meals, but alas my friend circle is mostly omnivorous and would rather not eat plant based. I may have to return on my own, for the food and ambience here is why they're still successful years after they opened, in a punishing market on a block where the turnover is high. You should definitely order the crispy calamari. The king oyster rings imitate the real thing so well that my vegan friend who does not enjoy anything that hints at tasting like flesh avoided it. For something more vegetable forward, try the fried artichokes. You also can't go wrong with a lemon ricotta toast, theirs topped with pistachios, fennel pollen, lemon zest, and micro mint. I'm salivating as I type this. You could do worse than to share a number of their pizzas. Whether it's the fig jam and prosciutto with crema parmesan and aged balsamic or the wild mushroom truffle. This place gives Double Zero, the former king of vegan pizza in a fancy sit down space a run for its money. Their wine and cocktail list is so robust you may need your server to point you to some recommendations, like I did, paralyzed by so many options. They even have an entire section dedicated to hot coffee cocktails, which I didn't know one needed 4 options for, but in the age of the espresso martini craze, I suppose this makes sense. This place would be perfect for a celebration, date, or even just a special night out. I think needing to have meat in your meal for it to feel complete is very passé, especially now when we have beautiful vegan establishments like Coletta. read more

I took my fiancé and his father out for my graduation dinner and I'm happy to report that all of our appetizers and meals were absolutely perfect, but the ravioli was the one to die for. The bread had the perfect amount of oil on the crust, with many unique sauces coming along with other app that we got. The venue overall is really lovely, lights dim, cool plates and modern vibes. If you're looking for vegan Italian food, Coletta is way better than its competitor, Soda Club. I only went to Soda Club once but I found the food mediocre and the service horrible (a two hour wait for two pasta dishes!). Coletta has a great ambiance (though it's loud when busy), and delicious dishes. My favorite is the Carbonara. The food here is definitely heavy on the oil, so if you're not into that, I wouldn't recommend it. But like all the City Roots restaurants, it appeals to meat eaters with its good fake meat options and other vegan lookalike foods. read more
