Hands down the best Cantonese food in town! We ordered a lot of fried dishes, but surprisingly, none of them felt greasy at all. The chef's oil control and wok-hei are absolutely top-tier. Must-orders: The Scallion Ginger Fried Chicken (super crispy and juicy), the Crispy "Bai Hua" Chicken (crispy skin stuffed with bouncy shrimp paste), and the Fried Mushrooms with Foie Gras Paste (paper-thin batter and bursts with juicy flavor). The place is low-key, but the food speaks for itself. Will definitely be back!

I've been wanting to come back ever since my first visit during Christmas 2023, and I'm happy to say the food is just as memorable as I remembered. What makes this restaurant special is that it offers a creative take on Cantonese cuisine while still respecting traditional flavors. The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable, making it a great spot for family gatherings, celebrations, or a nice dinner with friends. The Crispy Shrimp-Stuffed Chicken was easily the highlight of the meal. The crispy chicken skin and flavorful shrimp filling worked beautifully together, and the sweet chili sauce made it even better. The Signature Iberico Pork Char Siu was tender, juicy, and infused with a subtle honey aroma. The Stir-Fried Glutinous Rice was packed with dried shrimp, Chinese sausage, cured pork, and mushrooms, bringing back memories of home-cooked Cantonese meals. We also enjoyed the Scallops and Shrimp, as well as the Crab Meat Fish Maw Soup, which was light, comforting, and full of flavor. You can tell the chefs put thought and care into every dish. If you've already tried the usual Cantonese restaurants around SGV and want something a little more creative and refined, Colette is definitely worth adding to your list.

Overall we enjoyed our meal and experience and would totally come back to try other dishes. Food - everything was fresh tasting. Lobster: we enjoyed the Colette special sauce, it was aromatic with the basil, good level of spice, and lobster meat was cooked perfect. Salt and pepper calamari: great crunch, wish it had a little more salt & pepper & garlic seasoning most pieces weren't coated, but the calamari texture had the perfect chew. Crispy vermicelli with beef: loved the crispy noodles and soft beef stir fry textures together, definitely ask for chili oil with this dish, it needs that extra umph of flavor for the noodles. Salted egg yolk pumpkin: I normally love this dish, only wished the outside was crispier, got soggy fast and with how thick these are cut you want the crispy exterior, but flavor was good. Only thing that made me feel a bit "eh" was the chipped plateware they have and continue to use. Service - wonderful! Everyone was so friendly and had nice customer service. They even helped recommend dishes and also share opinions on what we shouldn't order which I loved. Parking - free parking lot! There are a few spaces right in front of the restaurant. But around the side there's more parking as well.

I dine semi-frequently at Colette, as I live nearby. I lately have been ordering the same favourite dishes each time. I was surprised to read here on Yelp that the original famed chef left for a few years and recently returned, because I did not notice any major changes in the quality of the dishes I usually order. The current manager was my waiter this time, and he said that staffing has been a challenge; he himself also worked here, left , and returned. Colette offers a somewhat non-traditional, somewhat elevated menu, not as varied as other Chinese places, although they do offer dim sum and lunch specials. Note the menu on the website is old and kind of obsolete; the newer menu, which is laminated and has photos, is more extensive. The dish I always order is their fabulous chayote minced pork. I've also ordered their live lobster when I have a hankering. They have the lobsters and crabs in tanks on view, priced per pound. They can prepare it in several ways; I always choose stir-fried with ginger and scallions and add noodles. They also have some specialty dishes like winter melon soup that you must order in advance. I ordered 3 other dishes, only one for the first time. That was honey-glazed beef cubes. Slices of beef covered in sliced almonds on a bed of asparagus with an orange sauce that was similar to orange marmalade. Tasty and unique. The other 2 dishes that I've had before were the golden yolk luffa and the goo-loo pork (aka sweet and sour pork). Luffa is a gourd (like a cucumber) that is edible when young, but turns into the fibrous sponges we bathe with when mature. It's slighty bitter, here stir-fried with salted egg yolk. The pork was pretty traditional, slightly elevated with the addition of strawberries. For me, a reliable neighbourhood spot for Chinese. I hope they can keep it together.

We had no idea about this restaurant, but some friends ordered take out for us all and we were so surprised! We have now ordered on our own and the food is delicious. My husband can't stop talking about the lamb chops! I don't like lamb, but it's nice to see him so happy. The smacked cucumber salad is outstanding!! Absolutely delicious and refreshing. Loved it. We also had the fried sticky rice (amazing) and I had the mapo tofu, which I love but don't often get since my husband doesn't love tofu but since he got lamb chops... We are thrilled to find this restaurant, and especially because it is fairly close. Lucky us!

We ordered the crispy honey shrimp and crispy stuffed chicken among other dishes. I'm only reviewing these 2 dishes because these are one of the popular items they offer. Crispy Honey Shrimp - Lightly fried, sweet and somewhat sugary. This is delicious as they are jumbo size and split open easy to eat and get rid of the shells. They are somewhat sugary in my opinion, but still acceptable. Crispy Stuffed Chicken - Light crispy exterior, shrimp paste filling. I wasn't a big fan of the shrimp paste filling, but it was not bad. The light crisp skin was what balanced it out. I might try other dishes next time. The restaurants a little far out from where I live, but I can definitely consider if I'm in the area. Service was great, the place was about half filled, so no complaints there.

Colette is a stop I always make when I am in the area and recently hosted a birthday dinner. The dishes are inventive and tasty. Favorites include the beef vermicelli, sui mai, chayote, fried pumpkin, tofu and mushrooms. They have a nice large patio area and the service is welcoming.

First time trying Colette since they changed ownership from years ago. If I could, I would've given them a 3.5 stars overall instead of 3. Let's start off with the service. We arrived at about 5:00pm and considering the dining room only had one other party, we thought the 3 servers behind the counter took quite some time to bring us our waters, or take our order. After ordering, the kitchen did have our food out in a relatively quick manner (probably because there were no other orders ahead of us in queue). The food presentation was decent, but none of the dishes that we ordered really had a "wow" factor to them. In fact; the broccoli was too heavily salted. The best dishes were the honey shrimp as well as the diced beef cubes, but once again, nothing to "write home about". Overall the restaurant is clean, and the outdoor patio looks aesthetically pleasing for photos. The one bathroom however is not kept very clean and had a stench to it. I don't think we will be returning, especially for the price point of the dishes.

Come for their lunch special! You wont be disappointed! Tons of options and free dish when you spend $48

Really solid Cantonese restaurant. The wok hei on the dishes was great, seafood tasted fresh, and the portions were generous. You can tell they focus more on flavor and consistency than trying to be trendy. Would definitely come back with family or friends.

This place really can fit any vibe you want it to have. The dishes here are also really creative and different than other places, which I always love. I definitely would have to recommend the black truffle mushroom noodles or the black truffle fried rice. Both are incredible. I loved that rice so much because it was one of my favorite dishes (chicken fried rice) and then made even better with truffle! Anyways would go back for that dish and maybe try some more of their dim sum menu!

The restaurant nearby my home is so cozy and tasty.

Tasty food and nice service. The restaurant is nearby my home and definitely will be our home must go restaurant.

    Charles S.

Colette is a fantastic spot with great food, a lively atmosphere, and consistently enjoyable service. The dishes feel fresh, flavorful, and well-executed, with generous portions and strong presentation. Everything we tried had bold seasoning and a good balance of texture, especially the stir-fried dishes with crisp vegetables, tender meat, and rich sauce. The restaurant has a comfortable, energetic dining-room feel that works well for both casual meals and group dinners. Service was smooth and friendly, and the food came out at a good pace. 10/10 -- highly recommend for anyone looking for a flavorful Canton fusion meal in Pasadena.

Is dim sum only during lunch?

I ordered dim sum at night. They said they're doing it all day as a promo but I'm not sure until when.

Why are they closed? Does anyone know if they will be reopening?

The previous, breakfast place has closed, and the NEW Colette is a Cantonese Fusion restaurant with an excellent chef and top-notch ingredients. Well worth a try under the new management!

Only brunch on the menu. No buffet. Hope this helps.

Perfect family dim sum experience for us…read more We took out my parents and in-laws for dim sum: my parents' very first time ever. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. Once we were seated, my parents were immediately impressed with the decor: elegant and cultural without feeling overly modern or cold. And can we talk about the tea kettles? They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

We ordered A LOT so I'll just touch upon some dishes: -Our favorite item was the egg tart but maybe because it came straight out of the oven so it was piping hot. The crust was super flaky, and custard was velvety smooth and not too sweet. We were so tempted to get seconds but we were too full. -The bean curd wrapped with shrimp and pork was on point as well. -The chicken feet didn't really meet expectations. Normally I like it, but I wasn't impressed by this one. -the ham sui gok was good but I feel like it could've used more filling -fried rice had big juicy shrimp but rice was on the saltier side -Inconsistent crystal wrapper textures across all the different crystal skin dumplings. Some mushy, which I don't like. Some chewy, which I do like. The fillings were delicious though. Cart workers are a little pushy when it came to dishes they wanted to get rid of. TIP: Best to get stuff when it's hot and hasn't been sitting in the cart. Can accommodate large groups as it is Chinese banquet style seating with large round rotating tables. Parking is plentiful but it fills up quick surprisingly.

It was great to go with friends who speak Cantonese because mine is so rusty, I can only understand but not speak these days. I was so hungry I didn't even let my phone eat 1st like the yelped I am, but only remembered to take a photo after we had eaten at least half our plates! Having grown up with NYC and SF dim sum, NBC is one of the few Los Angeles area places that has the selection and flavors of my childhood. Some favorites were the har gow, taro puffs, and tripe. We got the roast duck but it wasn't very meaty or flavorful. We got the congee which was ok, but lacked any definite personality. The chewy fried dumplings were more dough than filling. The siu mai and veggie dumplings were both solid. I didn't try the bitter melon or turnip cakes because I don't like the taste of either, but I was happy to see them available. We got a claypot rice dish with spare ribs and Chinese sausage which was good but the rice was not crispy on the bottom. I saw they had chicken feet, which I usually love but they didn't look appetizing enough to order. Would definitely go back for other dishes and with more people so we could sample more selections.

I like coming here because it is not usually very crowded, and it is possible that it's because the pricing of the food is usually on the higher end. That being said, the food is reasonably good. The seaweed tofu salad has a nice kick to it. The black pepper beef was cooked well and the seasoning was not overwhelming. The crab fried rice tasted good, but the flavor of the crab was not as prominent. The dumpling was solid, but certainly overpriced for five pieces. The Dan Mein with chicken was a solid dish, but probably could get similar dish at the Chinese restaurant in San Gabriel Valley. Parking is easy, on the street or in the parking lot behind the restaurant. You can also park in the parking lot behind the Jamba Juice, which is located south of the Cordova Street. The servers were excellent, very attentive, extremely friendly, and definitely helpful. Would definitely come back, but knowing that it is on the expensive side. For seven dishes, pretty standard ones, it was approximately $150 after including tax and tip. The ambience was definitely immaculate, very clean restaurant, and the food was pretty solid.
