Nice servers but not checking on your tables is a big no no ! I ordered an omelette today. Potatoes you can taste the oil & the few I got were kinda hard. An omelette that states ham & cheese ??? Well missed the bark there. Tiny tiny specks of ham and one slice of American cheese on top. Omg. It was horrible! Coffee was great. Mom had pancakes that were way too thick & cold. I was working in the area and decided to try this place. The place reminds me of old diners and very cozy with lots of booths. If you're an Elvis fan, there's a room that's called Elvis room with lots of memorabilia. I ordered the southern fried chicken and it came with bread and butter and a choice of either soup or salad to start with and a choice of either fries or mashed potatoes to go with the chicken. I couldn't believe how delicious the chicken was and not greasy at all and the fries were really good as well. They give large portions for a very good price. The service was great and the regular diners are friendly. Place has plenty of parking space and Just found out it's under new ownership as I was leaving and were super friendly. Wait: Came here for a late lunch! There was no wait and we were seated right away. The restaurant definitely has an old school diner vibe. Parking: There is plenty of street parking & they also have a lot! Service: Our waitress took our order super quickly. Food came out in about 10-15 minutes and the waitress always came to check with us to see if we needed anything. Food: I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs because I was craving pasta. Unfortunately, I don't think this was the best spot to get pasta at! It was a bit by bland, and the garlic bread tasted a bit off. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles which I took a bite off and I definitely regretted not ordering this instead. The chicken was sooo tasty and crispy. Full of flavor. Came in on a Friday afternoon for lunch with my son. Nice relaxed ambiance with a nice volume for the music. The staff was very friendly and attentive plus the restaurant was very clean. I got a Turkey Bacon Melt which was delicious a big serving of turkey with a few strips of nice crispy thick cut Bacon and an amazing gooey melty cheese and a heaping pile of fries. My son had a grilled ham and cheese with added bacon stripsall the same compliments apply to this sandwich a great serving of delicious very slightly sweet but not overbearing deli styled ham his bacon strips weren't as crispy as he requested and again that oh so good melty cheese also a big portion of fries. We were there in the morning for brunch, so we decided to sit outside and enjoy the sunny California weather. The menu contained traditional American breakfast and lunch items. We ordered the following: Country Fried Steak with eggs and hash browns: the country fried steak came with a thick layer of gravy, but not an excessive amount, which I preferred. The steak was tender, with a nice crisp batter on the outside. The eggs were cooked perfectly over easy. Hash browns were phenomenal...crispy on the outside, with flavorful and soft shredded potato underneath. Tina Melt with French Fries: it came nicely griddled, giving a crunchy and buttery bite to the sourdough bread. The tuna was not overly drenched in mayo, so the bread was able to remain intact. It's served with melted Swiss cheese. The fries were the perfect texture for me...crispy on outside and soft on the inside. Mimosa: it's served with a cute mini champagne bottle and a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Colonial Kitchen keeps their menu items simple and traditional. Gave this place a try since the reviews seemed good. Ordered a pancake breakfast with the works, they only had wheat and rye today so I got the wheat toast.... I dont see how they didn't notice the MOLD on the bread that they served me. I give 2 stars because the potatoes O'Brian were good. The salsa on the side wasn't really what I would call a salsa, more of a sauce or something, but I didn't enjoy it. The place is located on the side of the road in San Marino. There's ample parking out front and on the side. The place is huge inside but you can also dine outdoor. The staff are friendly attentive. The owner comes by to check up on you as well as their staff which is nice. However, we ordered their eggs benedict and looked nothing like the pictures on here. The sauce seemed diluted and bland and the egg wasn't cooked perfectly. It was almost cooked through which isn't what a poached egg is supposed to look like. We asked the servers and they had no idea what we were talking about and just confirmed that those were poached eggs. Nevertheless, I think this spot has a potential. Great food. My husband loves the Elvis Room lol. We have eaten there multiple times in the past 10 years. They serve different types of excellent food from breakfast/ brunch to dinner. There's also a piano inside, and if you're there on some lucky days, you can hear them play while you're eating. It's just a fantastic place to eat locally in the San Gabriel Valley. When we used to live in Alhambra, we were just down the street and loved being so close to their location. I highly recommend it to anyone since it is never crowded. It's a great place! read more

First time here today and was greatly greeted right away outside walking through the patio seating to the entrance to inside. We can be seated anywhere in here is always a plus. That's what I love to hear. All restaurants ought to be like this. Customer service here is marvelous and friendly. They're immediately attentive with more water and napkins after seeing we have just my hot chocolate and waters with lemons on table here first while waiting for my salmon dish. Soup is really great. The ambience is calm with cute music playing at perfect volume. Not too loud and I love that ha. Can't stand being in places with music too loud. Music volume in here is nice and classy. Disappointing experience! Way too long to order, no decaf ready. Hardly warm toast/muffin (had one left) with one tiny packet of butter brought long before omelette was served. Omelette and potatoes was a jumbled plate of barely warm food. Long wait for check that was finally brought on a device (no paper check) but after giving card paper receipt came out from computer handheld machine. Had lunch here as part of a group presentation. Being placed in the Elvis room was very uncomfortable (stuff/no air circulation), also the table was sticky and dirty. Most people had sandwiches and were happy, I had the salmon which was dry (overcooked) dry rice, and frozen veggies. Thank goodness the salad was delicious. Also had ice tea because the creamer for my first choice of coffee was bad. The service was ok the gentleman taking orders and bring out the food was very nice. Don't know why some unkempt young man in a red sweatshirt was helping out (he was doing a good job) but still. We have come to colonial kitchen for years although we have not been there for a while. It was such a disappointment. The service was slow and sloppy and we had to ask for coffee and request a correction to an errant order. The quantity and quality of the food has plummeted except for the fresh-squeezed OJ. The delicious fresh hash browns cooked to a perfect crisp are now the frozen mushy variety that can be found at any cheap diner. I see that another review mentions change in ownership. Too bad. This spot opens daily from 8am-2pm. I know they've been here for a while because we would drive past this restaurant since I was a kid. There's parking in a private lot or you can park on the street. I've been here two times, but my family have been here 3-5 times because of their senior menu where it's $11 for your meal if you come before 11am. I came with three older family members and they each got their own senior meal. I'm vegan and the waitstaff clarified with me that each meal is cooked in oil and not butter. I ordered a side O'briens, and boiled/sautéed veggies topped with two small pieces avocado. I don't understand how a small plate of veggies costed $15. I can make this breakfast at home for less than half the cost. The average cost per meal on the regular menu ranges from $15-$20. read more

Well, it's certainly been a minute since I've made a review on this once repetitively habitual place to nosh... lol I have been feeling a smidge better and reminiscent of happier and carefree times of my life. I had remembered the GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH being prepared on a Brioche bun with a salad and colonials famous fries. It was without fries and not on a Brioche bun. I really like the hash browns here. I've had hash browns many places and this is hands down the best . They are so thick and crispy such a wholesome Vite you could easily get full just ordering them. We came in and were greeted by a large pile of dirty dishes by the door and flies circling it....We passed a few uncleared dirty tables as well. The restaurant had only about 4 other groups of patrons on a Friday morning. Service was a bit slow. It took a while to get our orders taken and and refills for coffee. They left the door open, so flies were coming in as we ate, and we spent most of the of the meal swatting flies. I'm not sure if their ac was broken, but it was off and the restaurant was very hot. I've been here a few times before covid, and they had the same amount of staff in the past, but wasn't the restaurant wasn't dirty and service was faster too. They have their own small private parking lot, and prices were a but pricey, but prices have gone up almost everywhere. Titan breakfast: The hashbrowns weren't crispy and potatoes were a bit hard and undercooked. The dish comes with "chilled" fresh squeezed oj, but mine was warm with no ice either. Well I go to this placed because of its service top servers ! The good is average for the price ! It's a bit pricey ! Things I noticed recently! 1. Flies landing in my food 2. Small flying insects 3. Water marks on ceiling nit changed my experience in osha training it's mold 4. I am speechless. My wife and I got home from work late but was craving some American breakfast food. I remembered a little place off of Huntington blvd that was cute. We got here and it was empty. It was us and another party. We were cross sold to get dinner items and that they were delicious. My wife got rack of lambs and I got the rib eye. Let me say this...norms would have been better... i imagine Gordan Ramsey yelling This is BLAND. Oh come on and slams his hand on the steak. It was unedible. It also tasted like they boiled the steak with the lamb then put it on the grill after...maybe they had to defrost the items together, but I could taste the lamb on my steak. Been here a few times already in the last couple of months and so happy to have found this place! It's definitely been a go-to for a holiday brunch, as well as a regular Sunday brunch. You must get a glass of their fresh squeezed orange juice -- it is so tasty and refreshing! They squeeze the juice right behind the counter in a fascinating juicer contraption -- always fun to watch it in action while waiting for the food. My go to is the Eggs Benedict. It's a run of the mill Eggs Benny, but done very well! The Canadian bacon/ham is perfection. I've also had bites of the Belgian waffle with the apple topping, which is such a delightful sweet treat! They seem to a bit understaffed at the moment, but the staff is really great and do the best they can. It's a quaint spot only open for breakfast/brunch and lunch.
