I've been to Colour Nails Spa a few times before, but decided to finally write them a review because of today's visit. I typically don't do acrylics but sooo happy that I got Andy as my nail tech. Tbh, I was nervous at first because of how fast he was doing things but halfway through I realized that everything was coming out great (and even). I wish I could give them a 5 star review but my visits haven't always been consistently great, and the customer service needs a bit of work. I came in 2 weeks before I was set to get a manicure because I saw the shop being built. I told the lady I wear my real nails and they look like fake nails but they're real and I need someone who can do my nails with care. She told Annie or Kevin would be the best choice for those types of nails. I felt she was a little cold after. When it was time to get my nails done I called and made my appointment. I asked for Annie or Kevin and they booked the appointment with someone different when I arrived. I told the woman that these were my real nails. She gave my a smart and cold reply, almost like "so". It took me 6 months to grow my nails out after someone filed them too low. Once she started everything was moving along normally until she flipped my hand over to "clean" the nails and filed my real nails on the inside. I started pouting because I realized that she had thinned out the nails and no other technician has ever done that on my real nails. The woman who did my feet was coughing and then took her mask off and gloves and started massaging my feet with her bare hands. Now after 6 months of no issues, 4 of my nails have broken. This is my 3rd time coming here - and it's getting sloppier each time. I never feel relaxed - everything is always rushed. Funny how it takes forever to get a seat but time flies when it comes to getting your nails done. I asked for short almond - said he doesn't do that and he says it'll be too short- won't look nice. Uhmm just give me what I want, I've gotten them done how I asked before at different salons & no problem!!! He still said he couldn't go shorter like I wanted - so I went for coffin & played it safe bc I got scared. Shape didn't match opposite hand. First time doing gel, splotchy w bubbles. I suggest you stop overbooking and take time w your customers. My pedicure was alright - also rushed but paint job was fine, nothing relaxing ... no bubbles , the scrubbing was weak. For the most part the service is good here. It's a Tuesday afternoon and they're completely booked up. I'm waiting but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get in today. I don't have a favorite yet but they are fairly nice considering and they do have a lot of business. I come in for a pedicure and manicure. There's a parking lot which is mostly always full and they do take appointments. Next time I'm calling in. Didn't get in...gonna go to the competition! read more

I arrived first thing in the morning, and although Andy had an appointment soon he was able to fit me in and fix my horribles nails done in south L.A. if you look at my last review of the other nail spa you can see the huge difference. Used to drive all the way from the west side just to use this place! Now I live within walking distance - what a treat! For gel mani + regular pedi, it's $46. I think that just went up a bit, as I've been coming here since Summer 2015 and I swear the total price used to be $42 (before tip). It's still the cheapest place you'll find within LA city limits tho that's not a nasty place! It's always packed, but somehow they can always get people in as walk-ins with very little wait times. Parking is free in the shopping center's lot. Just be aware that the 99 Cent Store is also there, so on weekends it's like the hunger games to find a spot sometimes. The staff are all super sweet and good at their craft! My nails rarely, rarely chip! Do the obvious - wear gloves while washing dishes - but other than that, I don't take any other real precautions. My gels will last 4 weeks without chips. I usually pick them off around 3.5 weeks tho bc my nails have grown out so far. read more

Let me start by saying the way they treat the customers isn't the best. They need to work on costumer service. The guy that did my nails did a good job however the color I chose was with the rest of gel nail polishes so I assumed was gel but it wasn't. My nails were taking forever to dry I messed up like 5 of my nails while waiting for them to dry. So I asked for them to remove the color and pain them with an actual gel color the guy that who painted them did a bad job as you can see. I walked in at 5pm and was seated almost immediately. I got my previous gel manicure removed and got a new one. While he was removing my initial polish he used his drill which I thought was to just remove the top layer to make the soak off easier but before I knew it all of the gel polish and half the thickness of my natural nails had been filed off. Now my nails bend even with the new manicure. The manicure itself was rushed and done poorly and without much care for the health of my nails. It's only been 3 days and my hair is already getting caught under the polish and on many nails you can see the uneven layers, lifting, and bubbles in my nails. The pictures don't accurately show how bad they look and feel in person. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until I got home. I was surprised at my experience after reading the reviews and seeing how busy it was in there. Maybe it was a fluke but I will not be returning. read more

The skill of Andy and April is exquisite! Before I let my nails grow out, I got my acrylics with Andy and he got the perfect shape every time-- never too thick or fake looking. He was also very fast and efficient. He's popular and always busy, so be sure to schedule an appointment in advance! His sister April is equally as talented and fantastic. She is so sweet and kind, always does a perfect gel manicure, great massage strength, excellent at matching color to pictures, and quick as well. Another review about being new to LA, so bear with me as I find my go to places. On that note, Colours will definitely be my go to nail and waxing salon :)! When I go to a nail salon, the first thing I consider is sanitation of the facility (and their instruments), friendliness/ attentiveness/efficiency of the staff. All of which are beyond satisfied here!! The parking is kinda tricky as it is in a plaza and they get very busy (reasonably so, because they're amazing). So consider that and prepare to be patient if you decide to come at peak hours. It's obvious they do the best they can to accommodate everyone, without sacrificing the service they provide to others!! The prices are very reasonable, especially for the service that is provided. Jenny did a great job on my toe nails, she filed them/shaped them and cleaned the cuticles just as I wanted (I love them super clean), and unlike other places she did so without me pestering her to!! The real hype for me comes from LESLIE!! She's a super awesome, friendly, and cute lady that takes a lot of pride in her work. I'm so thankful (by chance) to have gotten her :) Now, I will absolutely always ask for her when I come here!! I came in as a walk in today and I got inspiration from another Yelper's nails and I'm so glad I did. This place is amazing. I loved the service and my nail tech, Tom, did an excellent job at recreating the nails for me. He was very friendly, attentive and funny. I got acrylics done and a pedi. It came out to $58 which is a good price considering how good the nails came out. I highly recommend trying. Update: I broke a nail about a week after visiting. And I called ahead of time asking if I could come in to have the acrylics removed. The person on the phone said that they would be available today to help me. I came in about an hour later and the attendant at the counter was very rude and dismissed me when I went to the counter and explained I had called ahead and he claimed they were busy when the salon was empty. I didn't appreciate being brushed off entirely without a care after I had made sure to call ahead of time so I could stop by to remove the painful nail. Needless to say I'm taking my business elsewhere because I don't feel like being treated like I'm a walking ATM. TL;DR I broke my nail and called to have it fixed and when I arrived I was told they were busy despite the salon being empty. Extremely rude "customer service." Not coming back here again. read more

We walked in with four people, they were able to accommodate within 5 minutes, I wanted a gel manicure with a nail design and a pedicure, total was $50. I had nail tech April, she was very efficient and super sweet. My pedicure I chose a color that turned out what I hadn't expected after one coat, the nail tech kind of rolled her eyes when I asked for another color (I couldn't get up because April was working on my nails) I apologized but she did a good job. I have been going to this nail salon religiously every 2 weeks for 8 months and I generally left happy every time I went up until a couple of days ago... I went in to get 2 of my nails fixed that cracked and I didn't want to have band aids on them for a very important event I had that night. I went in and I waited for 30 min before I was helped which I can understand they were busy. I sat down and was talked down to the whole time about how needed a full new set which I didn't want at the time due to being in a hurry. As she pressured and judged me she kept trying to pry the acrylic off of my nail and ripping off half of my real nail on both of my fingers. She dipped my bloody finger in acetone to try to get off the acrylic over and over again. At that point I was in so much pain I begged her to put on a tip to hide my torn apart, nub of a finger nail so I would at least be presentable and she said that it was a "dumb question" to ask and she refused to fix my nails. It was one of the worst, most traumatic experiences I have ever had with someone so incredibly rude. I'm extremely disappointed because I liked the work they did but I refuse to give them my future business after this horrible encounter. read more

Two parking spots located directly in front of the shop are reserved specifically for Nail Customers Only. The place shares its parking lot with surrounding businesses, so parking can be difficult at times. SETTING Generally very clean. Salon has 6 manicure stations and several pedicure/massage chairs with foot spas. TV available for entertainment and put on mute with closed captioning. Wide variety of colors and brands of nail polish including OPI and China Glaze. Special room in the back for eyebrow waxing and threading. CUSTOMER SERVICE Walk-ins accepted and no appointment is necessary! **TIP: But make an appointment for weekends cuz they tend to get super busy! Regarding nails, I've always been happily satisfied because the employees are friendly, attentive, and ask you exactly what you want and successfully deliver. They inform you of other additional services (such as Callous Removal or Sea Salt Scrub for Pedis) but tell you that it's an additional charge and don't pressure you into getting it. However, I am NOT a fan of their Eyebrow services and traumatized from my last experience here. I went in for a simple threading once, and ended up with part of my bottom left brow waxed off. I clearly stated that I wanted a Threading when I checked in, so the employees clearly need to improve on their Communication. Against my better judgment, I let the woman thread my brows but was ultimately displeased and ended up fixing it myself at home with tweezers. QUALITY The manicurists do a great job on the manicures and pedicures cuz the polish is painted on precisely and my hands and feet are always relaxed and silky smooth after being massaged and moisturized. **TIP: I recommend Eric, Andy, or Tammy. I wish this place was closer to my house. I came here an hour before a date because my toe nails were looking like a hot mess. Just to clarify, it was the nail polish that was looking like a hot mess, not my toes. I called 10 minutes prior and they said they could take me in. I wasn't familiar with the area. I was coming from singing at a mass in Silverlake, but it was easy to find. It's in the same shopping center as the grocery store. I think it was a Food 4 Less. There is plenty of parking. They had a nice selection of colors on the wall and I waited there for about 7-10 minutes before I got seated at one of their luxurious massage chairs. These were probably the nicest nail salon chairs I've ever sat in. The guy who was doing my pedicure was really cool. I told him I had a date after this appointment. So after all the pampering he did to my feet, before he applied on the nail polish, he asked me if I wanted some lotion for my legs to make them nice and smooth since I was wearing a skirt that night. I said sure... (this was aside to the lotion that was already on my legs and apparently this other lotion was special). When he put the nail color on one toenail, he stopped and asked something I've never heard any one of my manicurists ever say to me, "do you like this nail color?" Me: "What? Did you just ask me if I liked this nail color?" Dude doing my manicure: "yeah... Because it sometimes looks different on a nail than from whatever's in the bottle" Me: "yeah I love it! Thanks for asking!" He had me at that question. And this is why I wish this nail salon was closer to my place. The end. read more

*UPDATE: I was contacted by the shop and offered a free manicure, but have chosen not to return. The offer was appreciated, though!* Probably the worst manicure I've had in LA. I hate to leave a bad review because the owner seemed so nice, but I feel obligated because I was cut pretty badly, to the point of bleeding. I made an appointment the day prior, came in, and was seated at a pedi chair almost right away. All was well until halfway into the pedi, when she accidentally sliced the cuticle on one of my big toes. I bled for a few minutes, the girl apologized, and we moved on. Before we started, I opted for the callus removal add on, but after the pedi all of my calluses (gross I know) are still there. I waited about 10-15 minutes before the same girl came back to do my nails. During my manicure, she cut the cuticle of my right thumb pretty deeply, also causing bleeding (pictured). Overall, the paint job was sloppy and rushed. She didn't apply enough coats, and had some pink polish in her top coat brush (my color was nude), causing pink streaks in 2 of my nails (pictured). She made no attempt to fix it, so I think she felt rushed because they were busy. Luckily, when I went to pay, the owner took a look and apologized for the poor job. He took a minute to remove the top coat that had pink streaks, very quickly applied another coat of nude, and another top coat. (He did this at the payment counter.) I could tell if I'd gotten him (who I assume is Andy, from reading other reviews), I would've had a much better experience. He also gave me a $10 discount. If you go here, I'd recommend ONLY seeing Andy or Nancy. read more

Kevin and Andy gave me exactly what I wanted, all at a great price :) I scheduled an appointment, came a little before to get seated at the right time. I showed Kevin a pic, and he performed. He didn't engage me in conversation, but he was pleasant. The salon is a bit cramped and it does get packed with walk-ins, so I highly recommend calling for an appointment. I originally gave this place a 5 star rating but that sh** has been REVOKED!! That's because every other time after my first experience have been displeasing. BUT THIS LAST TIME on New Year's Eve I ended up.. no, I was left sitting in a chair soaking my hands in acetone for an entire hour because the man who (see pics) was working on my nails got upset because I corrected him on the price. He was trying to overcharge me! Another time I went I was overcharged but I let it slide, since the old man (I don't remember his name) did a decent job & took his time. Mind you this man in the pic did my full set when I was there prior, and it was rushed and just a bad job from start to finish & he overcharged me then too! Not only that, his attitude was so obvious, yanking my hand, sucking his teeth, & putting on the nails in the sloppiest manner (see pics) LOL so I went off. Andy, (the manager or whatever) noticed, intervened, offered to do my nails but not before he TOOK HIS SIDE & commended his sloppy ass work!! Blaming his sloppy work on my nail beds -__________- I denied his offer and he basically left me in a chair with acetone to soak and if I didn't say anything after an hour, they wouldn't have given a sh**. There are other negatives about this place but I'll name the main ones: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE Charge more than listed price You wait forever even with an appointment It is the cheapest place I've found but you definitely get what you pay for. I had gotten acrylics I wasn't too happy about at a different salon and he put new ones on and made them perfectly! I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he gave me just that. He stayed after closing to finish my nails and seemed more than happy to. He even said he sometimes stays two hours after closing time and he did not at all seem frustrated by this.
