Placed a phone order and it was ready for pick up in 15 minutes on a busy Friday around noon so that was nice. It's open daily 11am-9pm, except Sunday! Parking is in the back and very small but there is street parking available Inside is very small but there is outdoor seating. Ordered the Hainan Chicken ($14.50) and the chicken has definitely shrunk in portion compared to several years ago when I last had it. The chicken tasted very bland and disappointing. Hainan Chicken Rice is one of my go-to meals. I always order an extra ginger sauce. Of course, portion size has been going down through the years and price is up but this is still my favorite here. The dark soy sauce, ginger sauce, and hot sauce were good accompaniments for the poached chicken. The rice had a delicious flavor from the chicken broth used during preparation. This is still the exemplary Hainan Chicken Rice that I use to compare others to. Shrimp Rolls came nine to an order. They were crispy with a good tasting filling and a mild spicy sauce. Great for sharing. My other favorite item is the Curry Beef Tendon Brisket. Their Malaysian style curry sauce is slightly lighter in color than before but still tasted the same. I haven't been here since 2011 and I am glad I came back. It has been such a big change since the last time I tried Hainan chicken dish. There's a lot more seating which is at the patio area compared to back then and definitely a change in decor and interior design. There's Hainan chicken we got dark meat which is $1 extra, looks a lot smaller than expected compared to the rice which was 3/4 the dish. There's best part of the meal was the creamy fish pasta, cheesy and creamy full of mushrooms and fish fillet. I think it was amazing, but not for those lactose intolerant. The only complaint I have for Savoy is the seating but that is not enough to remove a star. I refuse to judge a place negatively simply because they are so good at what they do, they run out of seating. Parking is easy enough and plentiful if you use the neighborhood but be mindful of pedestrians. You can see school kids walking around during the weekday. The food is where this place deserves my respect. I'll have to come back to taste the rest of the menu but the three I got were delicious. Roasted Cornish Hen: crispy and savory. The meat is a little dry but it goes well with the three dipping sauces they provide as well as the moist seasoned rice that it comes with. It may be a bit dry for some people but that's the riddle of the Cornish hen, it's quite difficult to have it be moist AND crispy. Baked Escargot with Herbed Butter went very nicely with the bread it was paired with. The slight sweetness of the bread coupled with the herbaceous butter and snail made for a decadent bite every time. I'd love there to be more butter so that it doesn't run out before the bread does. Baked White Fish Filet was moist and delicate in flavor. You get a choice for the sauce: tomato, cheese, or cream. We chose cream and it worked very well. But having grown up eating Hainanese Chicken Rice and trying versions of it across East Asia, I have very high standards for it. Haven't been here in a while since before I started Yelping, and then it was mainly for the Hainan chicken. It's known for the chicken, but I honestly think the other menu items are worth trying and kind of outshine the chicken now. Tried the curry beef stew tendon and brisket and that was delicious! There was plenty of tender beef and while there was a little tendon, it was mostly meat, which was great! It was very flavorful. The Hainan chicken is still good, although the portion of chicken does seem a little on the small side now and the sauces are okay. There are other items like the seafood pasta and even the pizza that look really good. Didn't get those this time but I saw others order things besides the chicken and I genuinely want to try them. This place has always been busy, but we didn't have too much of a wait for a Friday night and sat at the counter. Service was fine - not overly attentive but when it's busy with diners and plenty of phone orders, I get it. Still, our water was filled and orders came out quickly. The locals know of better spots. But I'm not local, so Savoy is all I've ever known. They have other items, but everyone comes here for chicken rice. Practically every table will have an order. Boneless chicken, by the way, so non-Canto friendly, and you saw that with the mosaic of people coming in to pick up an order. But then the daily special menu caught my eye. It's Thursday. Chicken ala King, the chicken Al Fredo of Hong Kong, the one white sauce Western dish that HongKongers think of. It's fine. But the execution is also pepper heavy there is no taste semblance to the original dish...)
