My favorite here is that vermicelli noodles. I think it's number 61 or something but it is Bomb. They also have a cubed, steak with tomatoes and onions. That is pretty delicious. I really didn't want to do this because I've been here many times and there has been no issue until now. We ordered over the phone for 5 different entrees. The first incident that happened was when my dad started eating his pork dish and there was a bad smell to it. It smelled spoiled. I called to inform them about the pork and to make sure it didn't go bad. I wasn't trying to get a freebie, I mean I probably should have. The person who I talked to over the phone seemed apologetic but started laughing, which I assumed and hoped was a nervous laugh more than a rude gesture. I let it go and moved on. Right now I was eating the rest of my food because I had leftovers. I was eating the korean bbq when I saw a white/gray hair on it. My dad and I are the only ones with hair and his is a buzz cut. I have dark brown hair. This is why I'm writing the review. I'm really disgusted because I already ate more than half of my food. My entree alone cost $18. I took accessible vietnamese eats for granted when I lived in San Jose. About 4 weeks after I relocated to Santa Cruz is when I realized that I want to move back. Not just for the variety of eateries but because of my family and friends. Having to wake my kids up at 5:30AM is not an easy task. My kids have been through everything w/ me and 99.9% of the time, I never see or hear a complaint. I'm a lucky mom. Despite being born here, both of my kids prefer vietnamese food over everything. Vietnamese food is not just pho, banh mi, and spring rolls! There are everyday rice dishes that most people have never seen or heard of. I am selfish because when I have the chance (except for occasions), I would always pick something that I like. For once I went out of my way on a Thursday evening to go back towards San Jose (I was in Campbell) to grab a bowl of pho to share it w/ my little man. Spacious. I like this location better than the one in Milpitas. Service was friendly and genuine as the other one so kudos to that! Speed was exceptional. The place was clean and so were the restrooms. I walked in and was anticipating how Gavin will react when he sees the bowl of pho. I was quite right. His eyes lit up . I gave him about 60-70% of the soup. I ordered a regular bowl of pho (tai, sach, gan). He finished it! I finished my portion as well. The broth was flavorful, could use more star anise but it all came down to me missing my childhood. My parents would take us to eat dim sum every Saturday morning and to eat pho every Sunday morning. Perhaps I should start a tradition w/ my kids. A great meal. A great price. This place used to be Asian Garden a few years ago... Upon entering, I realized that this is a chain w/ locations in E SJ and Milpitas! The fried egg rolls were remarkably similar to Vung Tau's. They were really good! The cilantro and romaine lettuce were plentiful and very fresh! I ordered the Banh Cuon and they were really fresh! The rice noodles were pretty thin and they were full of ground pork! As other Yelpers pointed out, the BBQ Pork from their Vermicelli was also top notch. The BBQ Pork was very flavorful! I love how conveniently close this restaurant is to work. I've dined in and had take out from here, no complaints from this gal so far. My friend gave me a choice whether I wanted Taco Bell or Vietnamese food for dinner. Uh... no competition there. I got #15 com tam thit nuong (broken rice with BBQ pork slices) and he ordered lemongrass chicken over rice. Both were SO GOOD. He started chowing down my food, thinking it was his. He was wondering why his didn't taste like chicken LOL. He agreed that #15 was perfectly marinated in amazing BBQ. I seriously love this place. I think I can easily eat here twice a week and not get sick of it. I lack decision making skills so I normally order an appetizer and two entrees when I come here. I think it is great that I can order 3 things and not be broke afterwards. My top 3 things to order are spring rolls, bbq chicken with broken rice and the pho with well done beef and tripe. This is my family's go-to weekend lunch spot. The good food and casual atmosphere is what keeps my family coming back. My favorite order is the vermicelli with pork and egg roll (#70), the fried egg roll is particularly good! Their pho is tasty as well, and they are generous with the amount of meat they put in. The staff are friendly and the food is ready quickly. There's plenty of tables so there typically isn't much of a wait even when it's busy. I came here recently and couldn't wait to come back. I brought my boyfriend and we both agreed that the pho here is bomb! We both got the rare beef w. extra beef on the side. I live in the Camden area and this is the only Pho restaurant I know of out here. The outside isn't that appealing but the inside is much better. I came here last week to get some Pho since I was feeling under the weather. I ordered the meat ball pho noodle soup. Its the only one I ever get and I love it! From the standpoint of a dive-y, value Pho joint... this is pretty awesome. Service was good, the classic Pho/Asian dishes are pretty tasty. The size of the restaurant is pretty good too, so it might be good if you have a larger group or if you are afraid of lines during peak hours. However, I believe that a restaurant should have a minimum standard for what shape their bathroom is in as it is a reflection on what they prioritize and how they think. Last week we took my bro in laws cousins from London to the beach and we were really hungry and this was the place everyone agreed on. It's cheap and fast and DELI!!!! "The Pho Place" is seriously delicious! My GF is a huge fan and ever since I moved down to SJ we try new places to eat around town, but this Pho spot is great! I usually get the Shrimp Pho and she gets the Meatball Pho. Very delicious and they do not skimp on the Shrimp at all!!! They have a few different sauces on the table and I love this one in the bottle that is kind of sweet, mixed with sriracha and there is also this house sauce in a little serving dish that is amazing. The beef broth is full of flavor and delicious till the last spoonful. Lots of onions and noodles, even in the medium/regular size. (I usually do the Large tho) I highly recommend their Mango Smoothie. It is made from 2-3 mangoes and works so well with their Pho dishes. Cannot wait to come back! read more
