California customer service: - just landed back to Orange County from Orlando after a long flight. My boyfriend and I went to this local broken rice Vietnamese restaurant that my family has always been going for years before we all move to Florida. Put our party of 5 on waitlist, waited for 20 mins then we got call to sit in. I told the host that my friends are 5 mins away, he said "no worries, take your time". I called my friend and ask what they want so I can just order since they 2 red lights away. Somehow the OWNER appeared in front of us and said "since you guys are not fully present, I cannot take your order cause the food will get cold, if you guys can go ahead and wait outside while the other party can come in first it will help our restaurant move much faster." I clearly told her they are just 2 red lights away, and the host let us in anyway, she turned over to the host dude and started yelling at him (clearly her store didnt even have a sign that say "full party must present in order to be seated") for letting me and my boyfriend come in without a full party. We then went back outside to wait since we didnt want to make a fuss, and my friends arrived right after. We finally get seated in after another 15 mins wait since our table was given to another party , however the server lady had the audacity to tell us if we can order our food faster when we just sat in. I know you guys are busy and would like the business to move a bit faster, but please have some manners toward your guests! Your failure in service made me lost my appetite. read more

I've eaten here several times and I've never been disappointed. They have many selection of dishes to choose from which are delicious, freshly cooked and authentic. Not to mention, the wait time isn't that bad. I enjoyed their cơm tấm bì chả thịt nướng, sườn nướng, and bún thit nướng. Also, the atmosphere/environment is nice, however, it's kind of compact to the point where, sometimes, you have to be waitlisted if it ever gets crowded. Typical Vietnamese mom and pop setup. You'll find all the traditional items on the tables. Seems a bit dirty but it is how it is with these establishments. Food wise, base on personal experience, they tasted ok. Flavors are close to other establishments. I wasn't a fan of their soup that came with the rice dish. It borderline bland really. I've definitely had better soup at other establishments. My broken rice dish looked common and didn't have much of thought about platting. Again, these places are truly measure by their taste and nothing else. I thought it was fine overall. I would recommend that they put more thought about their presentation, look into the flavoring with the soup, and be sure the utensils are clean. Stumbled upon this place while looking for something to eat near the Costco business center. I always crave a broken rice (Com Tam) dish, and this place did not disappoint. We ordered a pork chop and BBQ beef rib plate. Both were cooked well and delicious. I'm not the biggest fan of the shredded pork skin. It is sort of flavorless and the texture doesn't leave much to be desired. The egg cake was delicious. The crunchy shrimp cake was yummy too. The grilled shrimp on sugarcane was awesome. I didn't expect it to come out like a fishcake, but I enjoyed chewing on the grilled sugarcane very much. Our meals came with a small bowl of broth and fish sauce for dipping. That sauce is so addicting. I could literally pour that stuff on anything. The special roll was good, but could be better. Overall, my husband and I enjoyed everything and will definitely be back. This is by far the best com tam I've had. Other places are hit and misses especially considering each prototypical plate consists of a meat, broken rice, egg cake, shrimp cake, shredded pork, pickled daikon/carrots, sugarcane shrimp, fish sauce. This place nails every single one of those parts. Not only that, their flavors complement each other so we'll. I'll have to say that this is a good example where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We came as a family so we were able to try the different meats (pork, beef short ribs, chicken, shrimp). This is where the place stands out. I don't know how they do it, but they really do a good job on the marination. All of them were so tender and juicy fresh off the grill. When we got in, they were BUSY, but was promptly seated. The servers were attentive on refills and drinks. And though we were a party of 6, the food came out quick and hot. By the time we finished, it was lunch rush hour or something because there was a line outside the door. However this didn't stop us from coming back here 2 more times during our vacation.
