My mom loves com tam and after trying out so many places in OC, this is the place to go. They make mainly com tam and with an exception of pho and bun. We got #5 broken rice with shredded pork skin, egg cake, and bbq pork and added a fried egg. Their egg cake is fresh not dry. The bbq pork is so flavorful, tender and moist. Their shredded pork skin is not the best because it's too much skin to meat ratio. Got #46 rice vermicelli with bbq pork and egg roll. How you judge this dish is by the meat and the bbq pork is super moist and flavorful. We've ordered here numerous times and their bbq pork does not disappoint. There's every combo you can think of. One of the tips to have a delicious com tam plate is that you have to ask for the fattest bbq pork chop pieces, a sunny up and extra fish sauce because they never give you enough. The restaurant is small and hard-to-spot but it is in the same plaza was the Wok Experience. There will be lines during peak hours, but wait times are usually short. The Com Tam comes out in an instant and it'll leave you full for a while. The restaurant is tiny and parking is limited. They also accept card payments along with cash. Prices are average at around $10-$15, due to inflation, but you get what you pay for, and the portions are gigantic. I ordered the Com Tam with Tau Hu Ky, Suong Dai Han, Egg, and Bi (Shredded Pork). In an area full of delicious and affordable broken rice options, Com Tam Thien Hao has some of the best plates available... if you don't mind the slight premium in cost. I had heard about Thien Hao through friends who claimed it's the best cơm tấm in all of Little Saigon, which was a challenge I had to accept. Along with Hawaiian plate lunches and Taiwanese pork chop rice, Vietnamese broken rice is among my favorite rice plates. My long-standing favorite is Com Tam Tran Quy Cap so I wanted to see if Com Tam Thien Hao was on par or even better! What you'll notice during peak lunch hours and weekends is that there is almost always a line outside Thien Hao; the fact that people line up at a broken rice place in Stanton cannot be understated because I know I wouldn't be looking for broken rice out here unless someone specifically recommended it to me. Once inside, the restaurant is medium sized, probably only seating 30-40 people max. The rice plates themselves range between $14-20 depending on how many meats and accoutrements you pick; a bit pricey compared to what I'm used to but inflation is a thing. There are also fried egg rolls and fresh spring rolls, vermicelli, and pho available but for Thien Hao, you should really come here for the cơm tấm. I've had the BBQ pork and fried shrimp cake (Thịt Nướng, Tàu Hủ Ky) as well as the pork chop (Sườn Nướng) and honestly I would come back just for the BBQ pork. Similar to my beloved Com Tam Tran Quy Cap, it had a delicious smoky flavor, but was tender and juicy... the meat itself served in this spiral-cut, julienne-style slices. The pork chop was fine, but the regular Thịt Nướng is what I'd come back for. If you're a fan of Tàu Hủ Ky, theirs is pretty unique... without the oil and grease I've had at other places. Finally, each plate is served with pickled vegetables and a light broth, enough for a simple but well-portioned meal. I can see why some people swear by Com Tam Thien Hao and it's certainly going to be added into my rotation. Cash, card, and Apple Pay accepted! read more

So today we venture to come here on a Friday lunchtime and sure enough there is a line but it's not as much as on the weekends. Compacted and kernels are truly a broken in smaller sizes which is the way that I would like it. The grilled pork that came with it was tasty, although it was thinner than what I be used to at other places, the pickled vegetables that come with it was fresh and the fish sauce had the right amount of sweetness. The interior is small but given that it was the middle of the afternoon, there was no wait. The menu is large and they are most famous for their broken rice dishes here. A hidden gem down the street from hubby's family. He kept telling me this was the best broken rice in the area and I'm so thankful I finally got to try it last month. The pork was charred and seasoned perfectly. They gave generous portions for the price. The seasoned fish sauce was perfect and mixed well with the pork and rice. I've been coming to Cơm Tấm Thiên Hào for a while now, and it's definitely one of my go-to spots for bún thịt nướng. If you're thinking about coming here, I highly recommend arriving right when they open or just before lunch to beat the crowd--this place gets packed! But trust me, it's worth it. The first time I tried their bún thịt nướng, I went all in and got the chả giò (egg rolls) too. The bún thịt nướng was absolutely fantastic. The grilled pork was incredibly flavorful, perfectly cooked, and reminded me of the street vendors in Vietnam. The vermicelli was fresh and well-balanced with the veggies, and the star of the show was the nước mắm (fish sauce). It had the perfect combination of salty, sweet, and tangy--just how it should be. And did I mention they offer unlimited fish sauce? I'm the type of person who likes to drown my bún in fish sauce, and it's a dream here. I love sipping on the leftover fish sauce after the meal! The place is always clean, and the owner is super attentive, making sure everything runs smoothly. I also appreciate that when you get a to-go order, they're kind enough to include extra fish sauce (again, unlimited!) which is a nice touch.
