Ordered rice noodle soup with chicken and sliced pork and spring rolls with sliced beef and shrimp. The soup was okay. Though broth was so good, the meat was plain. It was missing something, maybe the chili oil. But overall it was good. It was a very light meal, so maybe adding rice might make it heavier. The spring rolls with the peanut sauce was the best part. Spring rolls! I was craving these refreshing wrapped wonders so I headed over to get an order to go. I liked how there were multiple options in different amounts to choose from. I opted for the "phan nem tom cuon" to go: A set of 3 pork and shrimp spring rolls with lettuce, mint, pickled daikon and chive. At $6.99 it wasn't too bad of a price and the friendly guy at the counter said it would be ready in 10-15 minutes so I could wait or shop at the nearby Mekong Supermarket until it was ready. I opted to go do some shopping and when I came back around 15 minutes later the rolls were all securely packaged and ready for the trip back home. The rolls looked so delectable when I opened up the bag! They were filled to the max with veggies and meat. I especially loved the inclusion of a crispy crunchy little fried roll inside of the filling, it made for a lovely textural and taste difference to the softer meats and veggies. I did get one shrimp that still had its tail on it so I got an unpleasant chitinous bit towards the end of one roll, but the rest were delicious. This is definitely one of my go-to places for Vietnamese broken rice (Com Tam)! Usually whenever I go to Mekong to get groceries, I would stop by one of the restaurants in the area and this is definitely one of my top picks!!! There is a side of pork bone soup served with your order. The soup is savory and delicious and the pork pieces just melt in your mouth! My favorite thing to get is the grilled beef with the shrimp paste wrapped in the tofu skin (Number 33). Usually all their rice dishes come with the scallion topping, shredded pork, and steamed egg. You can customize what meats or items you want from there by choosing from the menu or making substitutes! For those new to eating Com Tam, you are served a side of the fish sauce and you can pour it on top of your dish to your liking! All the items on the plate should have different tastes and textures yet still work together in perfect harmony! If you're interested in trying a variety of their meats/items, I would recommend getting Number 21, which comes with 10 different types of meats. The plate is huge and can easily serve 2 people. If you are eating it by yourself, you might just have a lot of leftovers for the next day ;) Not only is their rice delicious, their Buns (rice noodle salads) are also on point! For when I'm in a mood for more veggies, I prefer getting the bun and everything comes out fresh and delicious. The flavors and textures are all there! Located within the Mekong Market, I liked their food here and service was good too. Came here in a rainy day and warm noodle soup sounded so good. I never had any other type of noodle beside the standard thin rice noodle at any Vietnamese restaurants and the clear noodle they had was very good. I also learned I like this vegetable called "tan-o". It was served as a side. I didn't know what it was at first but I liked it so much, I asked the server the name of this vegetable. My go to meal is the broken rice plate #27 with either barbecue chicken or short ribs, with an egg roll and fried egg. It comes with a broth soup and veggies on the side. I was pleasantly surprised at Com Tam Thuan Kieu. I was expecting your traditional pho (Vietnamese) restaurant. They do not have the traditional pho. They do have wonderful assortments of Vietnamese wraps like egg rolls, and crepes as well as other noodle dishes (more seafood) and rice plates. I ordered bbq pork combo rice plate. It was large portion with lots of flavor. My son ordered the egg noodle beef meatball soup. Nothing like the regular pho but delicious regardless. The best dish we had today was the egg rolls. It's not the traditional flour wrapped ones though. I believe it is rice flour wrapping which gave it a nice crunch. The fillings were abundant and really tasted every ingredient inside. We have been coming to this restaurant for years as our family enjoys some of the food here. On our visit today we came as a group of 7 and we had the order typed up on our phone. At first we try to order the food in Vietnamese but the server in Vietnamese said to just show him the text and stop talking which was extremely rude off the start. We proceed to just show him the text like he asked which has specific details on it and he proceeded to get the order wrong. We bring this up to their attention and he begins to say we lie about the order and that he confirmed the order and that we lied and changed the order. After that he thought we didn't speak english and proceeds to turn to the kitchen staff calling us liars and talking more disrespectful remarks, by the time we get the food we keep noticing he keep talking and multiple times see employees peak their head from the kitchen one at a time with him and when we look at them they turn back in and walk in. It is an uncomfortable feeling when your server assumes you don't speak English and tries to talk down on you and your family and having employees constantly looking at you and talking about you. When it comes to getting the check we receive the tab and notice instead of charging us for the plate in which we were supposed to get rice and three meats, they chose to charge a different dish and charge the third meat as extra order which costed more so they cheated us on the bill too. We have been coming to this restaurant for more than 7 years around the time they opened this location. We have known most of the family that works here they even used to have another son work here who was always so nice and kind and helpful, we haven't seen him the past few times so don't know if he noticed things being done wrong or what and left or if he noticed the attitude that we saw today but this visit was very unpleasant and uncomfortable and very unprofessional. I understand it is holidays and there is a lot of business right now but there are a lot more professional ways to handle yourself. Be careful ordering takeout here. Yesterday I ordered a pound of grilled beef which I have done in the past and they gave me only half. Since the price has increased by 40% and the portion seemed ridiculously small, I put it on the scale to confirm. Even with the container and sauce which should not be counted, it was still half of what it should be. Called the restaurant to ask if they might have given me the wrong order and the guy who picked up was very rude. Left me on the phone for a long time while he talked to other customers without putting me on hold. Once he came back, he tried to argue with me that he was right. This time I was meeting a friend for lunch and I thought "why don't we try this place", so we did and we had an excellent food.
