With the weather getting colder, pho is always a good idea. I've passed by this place several times, and always saw lots of people enjoying their food. I decided to meet up a friend here and try it for the first time, and right when we entered we were greeted by the owner. Right off the bat, I could tell the service was going to be great. He was very sweet and helpful, and made us feel comfortable. We ordered the nem nuong rolls, pho ga, and pho tai. In my opinion as someone who grew up eating this food, the food here was okay. The spring rolls could have tasted fresher and the pho wasn't the best; it could have had more meat and onions/cilantro. It was also served with 1/4 of a lime, and when I asked for more I wasn't told I would be charged for it. But that's fine. Been coming here for years and somehow haven't left a review...fixing that now. Usually don't have to wait for a table and today's visit was no different. Sat ourselves and the staff came over to greet us with menus and water. Kids love the grilled pork rice platters here so immediately ordered a few plates and fried rice for the wife. Usually order the pho, but decided to deviate. Food came quickly and was delicious as it usually is. Devoured our plates and paid at the counter. Quick and easy experience. It was our first time trying this spot! Our server was so personable, friendly and funny! She joked a lot and kept us engaged. She had a bit of sarcastic humor which we appreciated. We had the crispy egg rolls and I had the brisket pho which was great. They have additional sauces at your table to adjust the spice level and flavor. The food came out quickly, too. Caddy corner to the Asian Market on Dobson is this little gem. Super unassuming in the middle of the very busy Asian district in Mesa. When you walk-in the lights are low. They have what is essentially pic nic style seating. With a direct entrance to the outdoors and another into the Asian market. The servers were busy and working a lot of different tasks. While it was not jam packed with customers, there was a constant flow of patrons in and out. My wife and mother-in-law shared fried shrimp won tons, pork and shrimp spring roll, and the thin sliced beef pho. Every bite they took was followed with an audible "mmmmm" another compliment. The spring rolls were girthy to say the least, with two large shrimp in each and a nice large slice of port in it. The won tons were fried to perfection with a healthy portion of shrimp in them as well. I enjoyed the vegetable Pho with fried tofu in it. The broth flavor was welcoming and robust. The kind of broth that makes you feel hugged on a rainy day. Something someone lots of care in making. You could tell the vegetables were added just before being served., They were still crispy, giving the soup a nice bite rather than soggy mush. The tofu was pleasant especially after soaking in the broth a while. I feel they could have been cut smaller, maybe half the size and had a bit more. The noodles were phenomenal. Was avoiding them because I was really trying to eat light and avoid as much carb as possible, but once I ate just a little I couldn't stop. Used to love this pho spot, but apparently they've added a "We Don't Feel Like Trying" service fee now. The broth is still decent -- probably because they haven't figured out how to ruin that yet -- but everything else has taken a nosedive. The service was so bad I'm pretty sure my server was actively avoiding eye contact like I owed THEM money. I told them my soda was flat, and somehow they still charged me for it. Honestly, the atmosphere was just as flat as the soda, so I guess points for consistency. Ordered the combo rice platter and got what looked like chicken and pork run over by a steamroller into paper-thin slices, then drowned in a vat of teriyaki sauce. The lingering soy sauce aftertaste haunted me longer than the meal itself. Sad to see a place that used to be good fall this hard. Between the ridiculous fees, lazy service, and disappointing food, I'll definitely be finding a new pho spot to frequent. Been here on 3 occasions now. I always get the chicken wings. Its two full wings (drummet and flat). No sauces just a simple fried breading. Amazingly delicious in its simplicity. Have tried several pho dishes and the fried rice dishes. Never had a bad dish, everything is on point. I come here all the time and it has always been one of my favorite restaurants, which is why this experience was really disappointing. The food tasted completely different this time -- it had almost no flavor and honestly tasted frozen or watered down. Even the rice paper rolls were hard and stiff. We were there for about an hour and the service was horrible. It felt like the servers were ignoring us most of the time. When I tried talking to one of the waiters about how different the food tasted, instead of listening, she told me it was probably because I was in a bad mood and said next time I should come in with a better mood. She even asked if me and my husband were fighting and implied that I just had a bad attitude. That was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. My family visited Sedona from CA for the Christmas holiday, and we stayed at Embassy Suites by Hilton in Phoenix. On the second day of Christmas, we decided to visit Mekong Plaza, a well-known place for the Vietnamese community. I tried UnPhogettable, where we ordered Spring Rolls, Phở Đặc Biệt and Bún Bò Huế. The phở broth was okay, and the bún bò was also decent. The environment is nice, clean, and eye-catching, especially since the restaurant is located right next to the main entrance of Mekong Plaza. I agree with most reviews that this place deserves 4 stars overall, but I took off one star because of one staff member (the only Asian girl with dyed blonde hair). Unfortunately, she did not demonstrate good customer service--she spilled water on the table while dropping it off and walked away, and she handled utensils carelessly, almost throwing them toward customers. That said, the owner is very nice and professional in running the business. I would recommend this place if you don't mind the service from that particular staff member. read more

After a concert down the street, we dropped by unPhogettable for a family dinner, and overall, we were pleased with our experience. The Pho was very decent - all four of us in my family ordered Pho, and everyone enjoyed their bowls. The service was also good; our server was friendly. The only reason we wouldn't give it a full 5 stars is that the prices were slightly higher than we expected. However, the quality of the food and service was still worth it. Our group was missing unPhogettable's food. You're greeted as soon as you enter. We were seated quickly. It didn't take long and we all knew what we wanted. #7 was very popular. Pho (soup) with noodles with veggies & tofu. Two of those orders substituted shrimp for the tofu. They were happy to do the change. The others ordered bun (vermicelli) with pork. The shrimp allotment was very generous. There is an added fee for the substitution and well worth it. Excellent food with nice, helpful staff. They thanked us as we left too. My friend and I walked into the restaurant earlier this afternoon to try the food here. Having never had Vietnamese food before, I was a little worried about whether or not I would like it. Thankfully, the staff was very friendly and were able to give recommendations to suit my taste. Deciding to try the pho, since it was in the name, I ordered the Number 1 pho that consists of various cuts of beef. My friend picked a noodle dish with beef as well as a pair of spring rolls for the two of us. My eyes grew wide when the waitress returned with a massive bowl for me and the spring rolls were about the size of a 12 oz. can of soda. Both were very tasty, and the peanut sauce for the rolls was epic. My friend's noodles were a little more tame in comparison portion wise but he would not stop raving that it was delicious. We both got full quickly and have plenty of leftovers. Unfortunately, I can't give full marks because it seems that every single item on the menu has jalapeño in it, and I am not a fan of spices for heat over flavor. This is may be more the fault of myself for having not had this cuisine before. Ultimately, it was good food at a decent price point, but I don't think I would go back. The food was absolutely delicious. I do wish the pho choices were a bit more varied. I also felt that the accoutrement were a bit lacking. We were only given bean sprouts, jalapeños and Thai basil. DEFINITELY try the chicken wings!!! Pricing was perfect! I'm all about value so I felt everything was priced appropriately and totally worth it. The restaurant was clean and spacey.
