We visited this restaurant a few days ago & was so excited it opens earlier than most Vietnamese restaurants but soon found out that didn't make a difference. Our party of 5 arrived at 9:39 & we didn't get our food until 10:08 with the last meal received at 10:22am. We didn't get offered or they didn't even swing by for water refills, told us my baby couldn't seat on the edge because it blocks the walk way (we understand but never have been told this before & we were the one customers in the restaurant at this time) and overall the atmosphere was just disappointing. The items we wanted to order weren't available either which is interesting because we were the first customers of the day. Even when we flagged one of the employees down to ask for additional silverware he brushed us off & loudly said, "I know I know you have one more dish. It's coming!" Went on friday morning and the com tam bi cha suong nuong was so fresh!! Literally a gamechanger! The grilled pork and steamed egg was so good. The broken rice was also nice and fresh. I was hoping for a nice meal, but honestly left pretty disappointed. The prices are definitely on the high side, especially for what you get, the flavors just felt ok Everything was kinda bland and didn't wow me at all, though my friend liked the food. Parking was complicated there are not a lot of spaces since they share it with other restaurants too. Inside, the place felt off it's hard to pin down exactly, but it wasn't very organized, and it came across as chaotic rather than bustling in a good way. Best Vietnamese grilled pork in town! My go to is the Bun Thit Nuong + side egg roll (cha gio). Super hole in the wall place off the mesa Asian district on dobson. We didn't think the Pho was that special but usually get the Pho with brisket (pho tai nam). Super crunchy and crispy crepe (banh xeo). Service is quite fast for food orders and even to-go orders. It definitely is hard to find this place if you're visiting for the first time and the driveways can get confusing as two only go to the dominos in the front. There is a 2.99% credit card processing fee, so bring cash to save. Interior design is a bit lacking but the attention is paid to the food and less on aesthetics. read more

Visiting from the Bay Area so expectations for great Vietnamese food in AZ wasn't high but wow I didn't think it could be that bad. First, you should know we got a 25 min uber here so we were kind of committed to eating here. Upon walking in you can tell the place was kind of run down and unfortunately it was very filthy. There were old food and stains on the soup spoons and dipping bowl. The walls were full of grime and stains. I was actually very nervous about drinking the water cause it had a smell to it. Like I said we were kinda stuck eating here and ordered the Pho Tai and spring rolls. The spring rolls had old shrimp and veggies. I couldn't finish it. Pho was alright honestly, I liked the broth but you can tell it has been sitting for a few days. But didn't make me feel great when it started to separate while I was eating. As a Viet, you can sometimes judge a restaurant by their veggies and these ones were baddddd. Some of the basil were already browning and the bean sprouts were soggy! We came here for dinner, expecting a chill dinner, some delicious food. However, the experience was opposite of that. The older lady who waited on us was pretty crude. When we first arrived we were seated and waited a lengthy amount of time to be waited on. Water was brought, she asked if we were ready. I requested the combination pho XL $17, with a beef rib added $6. She became upset, pointed to the menu and said NO! NO MORE BEEF RIB. She continued talking loudly and waving her hands around. I waited and then said ok, that's fine. Added my soda. Our orders were taken and we waited another lengthy amount of time for our drinks to come out. After 15 mins I was about to get up to go look for her and ask if I could get our sodas when she came back out. We eventually got all our drinks and our bowls of pho. The broth was decent. The meat was not cooked in the pho broth. It was dry and tasted plain, not flavored like the broth. It wasn't enjoyable. We requested refills but never received it. After we ate, we waited and since our check was not brought to us, we watched how everyone else was being serviced and noticed they were tended to and some received there checks and had paid and left while we were still waiting. We went up to the register and paid. We paid cash, mean auntie lady kept counting it out loud and loudly voicing that we still needed more but we were going through our $20's and counting them out and placing them on the counter, then added the correct change. While she stood there loudly saying "you still.....money!". Me: (exasperated) yes!!!! We know! Calm down. We paid and left, won't be back. Simmer down and change your attitude, you're in customer service. Smile a little! Joke and laugh with your customers!!!! It won't kill you. read more

It's probably more than a dozen years I first dined here. This location as well as the Glendale location have been 100% 5 stars. This location has a lot of regular customers of all nationalities, ages and incomes. I have even talked with people from other restaurants. They also do a high volume take out. This is my second time eating here, but the first time it was to go and figured I had a bad batch. I ordered the Pho Tai XL, and had high expectations. I saw they make their own chili oil in the front and was like oh this is going to be good. The soup is simply too sweet. There's good flavor to the broth you can taste the star anise, cinnamon, but gd it's sweet. I tried to salvage it with salt and chili oil and sriracha, but it's too far gone. We also ordered the Bun Rieu and Com Tam - which that was also good flavor but too sweet according to my fellow diners. The bun rieu I could definitely taste the crab paste, but yeah just too sweet. It's not a light sugar flavor either it's like rock sugar sweet. Also the portion sizes...hmm for my XL large Pho it did have a good portion of noodles, but meat was still like a regular portion in my opinion. We had lunch here on Sunday and it was not busy as there was only one more group of people dining in and the three of us. The employee greeted us and told us to pick a table. We got the egg rolls and spring rolls first, then the Thai tea, and finally the fried rice and soup. The soup was HUGE and def enough for the three of us to share. The meat was plentiful and the broth was flavorful. The fried rice was cooked well and had shrimp, chicken, and beef. The spring rolls were my favorite and my mom loved the egg rolls as they had a lot of flavor and were crispy. The Thai tea was creamy, cold, delicious, and we even bought more to take home. As a former Pho Thanh regular and a Da Vang fan, I was really hoping their sister location would be just as solid. The food *is* good, but the restaurant doesn't really stand out among the great Viet spots along Dobson. The overall experience has room for improvement. Pho Thuan Thanh serves some excellent dishes. It has some of the better pho in the area, GREAT bo kho with a generous serving size (definitely order this), good vermicelli dishes, and a wide selection of Viet favorites. Food also comes out fast after ordering, which is great! Service is subpar. I don't expect amazing hospitality at traditional Viet spots, but they don't handle rushes well. This time, we were seated but forgotten about until we asked twice to order (tables seated later than us were serviced first). The line to pay, with only 3-4 people ahead, took 15 minutes. The cashier does their best -- it's a process issue since they manually write prices and calculate, and takeout orders slow things down. I'm definitely always down to go if I'm asked since some of the food is pretty good. Seriously -- I haven't had bo kho that good in a while. 3/1/26 1330hours was shocked what happened to this Vietnamese restaurant we used to go to after church on Sundays. Their servers can't speak English and the other older man who replaced the first one was shockingly very rude in his manners and treatment he gave my wife and I. I think the broth is a little light, and they provide fried chili flakes instead of sriracha, but it usually comes with a good amount of basil, sprouts, jalapeños. Delicious and super filling. Healthier option too with all the veggies! My only gripe was that the fish sauce wasn't strong enough. Husband got an XL pho. Noodles cooked well, lots of beef, hot soup. This is a hidden gem- the most authentic Vietnamese restaurant that we have found. You can sense it in the ambiance while walking in. Their pho broth is amazing and we love their cha gio fried egg rolls. For the bun bo hue, we prefer a little more flavor, so we got a side of mam ruoc and it was perfect. We love our new friend, Dam, and his quick service! Remember to be patient and friendly to them, they are human too ;) They also have a refrigerator with cold drinks/desserts. First time trying this restaurant, and honestly, first time trying Vietnamese food in general. Came here with a group on a friend's suggestion, and I was so happy with everything. I had the #57, Com Bo Nuong. Basically, a sweet BBQ chicken with steamed rice. Absolutely delicious. Also had probably the best egg roll I've ever had in my life. The restaurant itself had a rather large dining room for a "hole in the wall" type of restaurant (instead of its own building like a Chiles or something else, is all I mean by that). It was clean, tidy, and I really liked the vibes. It's clearly a well loved community restaurant. The people working at the restaurant were really kind and quick. I can't wait to come back.
