First time in San Antonio and caught wind of this place seeing good reviews for the tacos and breakfast options, but we sat and waited just for us to never be served. Seeing other tables that came after us being served. After 45 minutes, we decided to ask if we had to order ourselves at the front but were told by the owner that a server would come to us to take our order. Disappointing Customer Service Experience Today I visited Panchos and Gringos and unfortunately left very disappointed with the overall experience. The owner, who was also taking orders and serving customers, came across as extremely rude and frustrated when we placed an additional order after initially sitting down. When we first ordered, my child did not want anything to eat. Afterward, I decided to order a cheeseburger and fries for my child. The owner told me that he could not take the additional order because it would disrupt the cook, although he eventually agreed to place it. He then came to our table and explained at length that his cook was not professional and might become upset with additional orders. As a customer, I found this extremely uncomfortable and unnecessary. We were completely willing to wait for the burger, but the order still came out incorrectly. We specifically requested the lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles on the side- in which he said he could not do. Instead, the burger arrived with only a bun and patty--no cheese and no fries. There were other issues as well. The utensils provided to us were dirty, which is especially concerning at a restaurant. There also seemed to be a lack of clear direction when entering the restaurant. Customers are apparently welcome to get their own drinks, but there was no signage or explanation indicating this. What was most disappointing was the customer service. As we were paying, the owner reminded us that he would not take an additional order like ours again. That was an unnecessary comment and left us feeling as though we had inconvenienced the business simply by ordering food. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but customers should not be made to feel like a problem for placing an order. We were paying customers, we were in no rush, and we were simply trying to enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, based on today's experience, the customer service and overall organization need significant improvement. Stopped in for breakfast on Sunday morning. Entire floor was handled by one friendly gentleman so the service was a bit slow, although efficient. Food was good, although my bean and bacon taco was a little skimpy. The hot sauce (ask for it) was extremely hot, but very flavorful. Use was caution!! Came here with friends for Saturday brunch. This is your classic definition of a hole in the wall mom and pop shop and it was absolutely amazing. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Seating was pretty open and they were willing to rearrange your seating to accommodate your group. As you can see from the menu, part of it is handwritten which speaks more to its mom and pop nature. The lovely part is there's a coffee station with both caffeinated and decaffeinated with a random assortment of mugs that you're at the liberty to choose from. They also have a free station where you can choose one of any item you want to go with your meal whether it's rice, pudding, fruit, or juice. I ordered the breakfast chilaquiles. It was warm, hearty, and filled you right up. I definitely left there full and content. Everyone else in my party loved this place as well. This love affair is profound and genuine. I tried rojo chiliquiles and my companion tried verde chiliquiles. My gripe with so many mexican restaurants is their lack of care when ingredients are misaligned, presentation is haphazard, and tastes are boring. The drink options are in a self serve area but the owner was so helpful he helped mix the perfect iced coffee for us to start. It is a cozy mom and pops diner, the drinks are all self served and the owner is the one receiving the meal orders. I ordered the steak and egg sandwich and I have to say it was really, really good. My kid's dad ordered their pork chop plate that came recommended by the owner, it wasn't the best, it lacked seasoning and flavor.
