    I try to visit Commander Palace each time I attend Jazz fest. This year was my 20th Jazz fest and while I have not been able to dine at this fantastic restaurant on each occasion, when I have it's always been a totally rewarding experience. I went with a friend when we were Sat in the main dining room downstairs. We started with cocktails that we each enjoyed: FRENCH 75 brandy or gin | lemon | sparkling wine CRESCENT CITY COOLER cane run rum | guava | lime | ginger ale Everything looked so good on the menu that we splurged with the following appetizers after the excellent server went over the menu with me since I am gluten intolerant. Shrimp & Tasso Henican Wild Louisiana white shrimp stuffed with housemade tasso ham. pickled okra, sweet red onions, five pepper jelly and Crystal hot sauce beurre blanc Pomegranate Molasses Glazed Colorado Lamb Tender morsels of harissa spiced 16-hour braised lamb shank over crispy garlic-herb confit eggplant with black sesame & foie gras tahini Butternut squash soup The Shrimp & Tasso Henican was delicious only overshadowed by the Lamb. The butternut squash soup was also excellent. For our main course I ordered the Tasso Brined Double Cut Duroc Pork Chop over chermoula spiced wild rice w/toasted pistachios, compressed pineapple compote & smoked pepita-chèvre pistou. So good but so large I took half with me for later. My friend she ordered the Pecan Crusted Gulf Fish- Prosecco poached Louisiana jumbo lump crab over spiced New Roads pecan crusted fish with roasted corn, asparagus, grilled kale, melted leeks and whiskey spiked crushed corn cream We were brought for our "anniversary" of our meeting the year before a delicious dessert of ice cream and caramel that topped off another fabulous meal with excellent service.

    What a treat to dine here. The food and drinks were excellent! Service immaculate and ambiance high end if you ignore the silly balloons. The star of the show has to be the bread pudding soufflés.. never had anything like it

    During a recent visit to New Orleans my husband and I were referred to trying this restaurant. It wasn't close to where we were staying but worth the cab ride. We booked reservations months in advance and it didn't disappoint. Every dish was delicious. The bread pudding was our absolute favorite. .25 lunch martinis couldn't be beat either. Definitely a restaurant to try while visiting NOLA.

    OVERVIEW: An easy 5/5! This place had some French quarter charm and divine southern upscale cooking. Service is excellent, the wine list is an entire book-long, and the food was exactly as expected. An extraordinary experience overall and I would definitely come back when visiting NOLA! QUICK FACTS: - Reservations? Yes, highly recommended - especially for weekends or large groups. - Parking? We Ubered, but it looked like street parking and valet were available. FOOD RATINGS: - Lamb pastrami chopped salad (5/5): This was one of the best salads I've ever had! Like an Italian chopped, but the lamb pastrami was phenomenal. Everything was fresh and bursting with flavor. Lettuce was crisp, a generous mountain of freshly-grated cheese, and a side baguette bite with Brie. A must order! - Shrimp and grits (5/5): Creamy, rich goodness. This is one of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. I loved the incorporation of broccolini, zucchini/squash, and beets. A beautifully made dish. - Lemongrass yellow tuna (5/5): Light and fresh! Sauce was tangy and flavorful, and the greens (edamame, shishito, herbs) paired nicely. I could have eaten an entire filet of this for sure! - Strawberry shortcake (5/5): Made-to-order!!! A stunning seasonal dessert. The biscuit was fluffy and perfectly cooked, and the whipped cream was marvelous. Light and fluffy while still being creamy. An amazing end to our meal!

    Fun and festive Easter weekend brunch here. Nice to have live music, good service and pastels everywhere to celebrate the season. Best dish by far was the bread pudding souffle - taste and texture were fantastic! Also appreciated that we were able to share the three course brunch menu instead of ordering our own. The rest of the food was good, not particularly memorable, but no misses either. Recommend the crescent city cocktail as a delightfully refreshing compliment to the meal.

    Biggest tip is book as far in advance as you can! It's a New Orleans institution, and their infamous 25 cent lunch martinis Wednesday thru Friday ensure they stay booked up. So I had the Cochin de lait tostada, which is pork shoulder on a tortilla goodied up with cheese and red bean purée and a pickled relish. As my choice of soup I chose the demitasse tasting of all 3 soups: the turtle, creole gumbo and the soup of the day, which was a corn and crab bisque. All great-I'd have hated to miss tasting any one of them! As usual, we were all too full for dessert. I guess the martinis were our dessert... Another tip...be sure to walk thru their kitchen! It's worth a trip.

    There is nothing to say that's not been said. Excellent. Food quality is tops, and the service is world-class. Came in with a smaller group of four. Was blown away. From the kitchen tour to the food and the drinks, thank you! Service, I will say, is more casual, or they feel you out, if that tracks? For such a high-end place, they are more happy to have you than "you should be grateful to be there." Which I love! Jokes, fun and good times is the atmosphere here, but always with respect and an incredible wine and food knowledge. The tuna was a big Star and the bread pudding soufflé, come on now?!! A must get. Not sure what's up with the pepper jelly on that shrimp with ham, but sell me a bucket. This is a can't miss stop! As far as the dress code, just read it and look nice, you look great. Feels good to have standards like this and it adds to the fun. You have pants and a coat, I know you do :) cheers! We are traveling, so our clothes were limited, and maybe a little wrinkle here and there--nobody is getting turned away. They are happy to see you!

    We frequent Commander's Palace quite often. We are here two nights ago and it was wonderful. Unfortunately, we had a different waitress. She was drool, inattentive, and condescending. Although the turtle soup was divine, the salad had no dressing on it when it arrived and the garden risotto was bland and unremarkable.

    Perfect night at Commanders Palace. I have to share that the food was fabulous, but what made our evening so special was the team that served us. Emma's team made us feel like family. Her team was constantly checking in with us making sure everything from the water glass to our anniversary cocktail was perfect. When we arrived, no less than 20 people greeted us as we walked to the table, Seated in a corner with glass everywhere overlooking the neighborhood met us feel relaxed at home. Emma started our experience, with champagne and garlic toast , we followed with a cocktail as we peruse the menu, and decided on our courses. I chose the 1-1-1 soup sampler, turtle soup with Sherri. Black Eyed Peas and cabbage soap, and the third was their famous gumbo. The trio allowed me to taste their soups, and I was not disappointed. I think my favorite was the turtle soup over the gumbo and that surprise me. My wife had the black eye Pea and shredded pork soup. For dinner Kathy had the Garlic seared Louisiana Gulf shrimp over sweet corn creamed polenta, and I had the Prosecco poached jumbo lump crab over spiced New Roads pecan crusted fish with roasted corn, asparagus, grilled kale, melted leeks, and whiskey spiked crushed corn cream. The corn cream complimented the fish perfectly. We paired it with a recommended, red wine. For dessert we both had Commanders Palace signature Creole Bread Pudding Soufflé with a whiskey sauce. The soufflé topping was so light and airy and as we spooned past the baked topping we experienced the caramelized, cinnamon bread pudding beneath ... and of course the sweet whiskey sauce... I have a new favorite dessert.. This a desert you do not want to miss. As we enjoying the dessert, Emma brought us each a Milk-Punch Brandy....(brandy, half-and-half, a sweetener, topped with nutmeg) a unique treat to close the dinner. This was a dinner to remember... make sure you plan an hour and a half to two hours to enjoy Commanders Palace.

    We come to Commander's Palace once a year on our trip to New Orleans. Each time we have had an excellent experience. The past couple of years, we have come for their famous 25 cent martinis. Drinks are always excellent and food is amazing! Service was spectacular and the building is beautiful.

    I'm almost sure CP doesn't need another glowing review, but we had a glowing lunch so here goes. Reservations are hard to come by or just booked way well in advance. There was no availability online, so called the restaurant. Chastity helped "squeeze" us in and are so appreciative that she did. The twenty five cent martini lunch was recommended and for good reason. Martinis are solid with elevated blue cheese olives available. Limit of 3 p/p with entree because "That's enough." Hostess warm & welcoming. While being seated you pass a parade of servers saying Welcome In. The dining room, lights, tables, chairs and decor are all Charm. We were waited on by several people, Offir our server and Celest who never allowed my martini unfilled. A thorough explanation of the menu then tough choices, it All looked amazing. On to the food: Garlic "toasts" to start. Yum. Appetizers, told myself just one then ordered two. Remoulade Shrimp on a bed of arugula and Corn Fried Oyster on cream sauce greens. Classic and Classy. Fresh French table bread for 'sopppin Soup course, how to decide between Alligator, Gumbo or 'of the Day. DON'T, sampler of three available! Turtle w/ a drizzle of sherry highly recommend, gumbo equally so. My wife and I both got the fried chicken salad on bib lettuce with blue cheese. The chicken was just perfect and plentiful. Other elements like onion and red peppers complex and complimentary. Other notables: The wine list is dense, thoughtfully organized with choices of size and worldly depth. Management on the floor and Active. Dessert, great choices but we had to pass. Won't make that mistake next time & can't wait. If that wasn't enough, we were given a tour of the kitchen, additional dining rooms and wine cellar after our meal. Honestly one of the best lunches/meals in my life and very reasonable $$ an incredible value.

    We had an early reservation for the Saturday Jazz brunch. They walked us through the kitchen which was nice to see and a smaller bar area to our seating room which was past the outdoor patio. We were treated to nice soft jazz and were happy that they went around the room to ask each table for a song request. L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole was mine. All the balloons were a nice festive touch. I'm told it's only for the weekend. The service was impeccable and they were dressed in tuxedos. We had a team of two servers and they were attentive and not overbearing or rushing us. We had Bloody Mary drinks and a delightful espresso tequila drink. Delish! My favorite was the pecan crusted fish. Cooked perfectly and wonderful flavors and sauce. All my favorite elements: fish, corn, crab, green beans, and crispy batter. My plate was clean! Desserts were impressive. Sad we couldn't finish them. I tried my best to make a dent in the huge banana pudding. We went next door afterwards to buy some gifts and keepsakes to remember this nice experience. It's a cute little gift shop with quality items. I recommend the whole experience and then walking around the beautiful homes afterwards to work off a full belly!

    No, there is no free standing bar.

    I think that’s up to you…the musicians travel around to the tables. I think mentioned before, if child gets fussy it would be uncomfortable for everyone!

    I would be surprised because it's a pretty high end place, but just call them and ask.

It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo. I got the marinated olives to go so I could have a little snack later. They were just stuff I feel I could get in a jar... not really sure if I could justify the price. My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Charming patio, and beautiful intimate interior with just 4 seats at the gorgeous bar and about 6 small tables inside. The cocktail menu is seasonal, and this spring, many were tea infused. I had the Columbina with gin, jasmine tea pear verdita, boomsma and lemon, and my husband had the Jewel sazerac - both exquisite. We shared 5 small plates - the crawfish bread - crawfish inside a crispy, flaky croissant like bread - OMG deliciousness. Then the tufa crudo - so fresh and flavorful, the crab tartlets - fine, but not as good as the other dishes; excellent salad, and the broccolini in a housemade horseradish goat cheese sauce - wow; one of the best broccolini dishes we have had. The carrots looked amazing, too. What a treat!

While I knew of the drink French 75, on the bar menu it was offered with either gin or cognac. I decided to try the cognac and so glad I did. Perfectly delicious! It turns out that drink is actually a French 125, so I learned something new that night. Great spot with a great vibe.

While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.

The Apothecary was the cure. We grabbed seats mid bar and before we even finished settling in, there were waters waiting on the bar. That simple move already separated this place from the chaos outside. It's hospitality in its cleanest form: welcome in, take a breath, we got you. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Floral without tasting like perfume. Bright without being sour. A drink that makes you slow down. Plus a magic chemists surprise. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in. Served in a textured coupe with a cherry skewer, details handled like they actually matter. Outside, the streets were selling amnesia in plastic souvenir cups. Inside, The Apothecary was serving adults. Let Bourbon Street keep the grenades. Give me the anecdote .
