Yeah it sucks, that's it. 2 hour street parking except one day a week on each side (check the signs!!) also that road is pretty sketch, constant honking and almost collisions happen often-probably people looking for parking lol, just be aware and drive safely :) Are you craving that oat milk iced vanilla latte and avocado toast while you scroll through pinterest and try and but ultimately fail to solve wordle? You've come to the right place. Good customer service, nice workers (which is refreshing since trendy places tend to have snobby workers-Carlsbad, I'm looking at you *cough cough*). Tried the iced matcha with oat milk, was pretty good. Pretty standard. They serve the typical pastries and snack foods here as well. Dog friendly :)) They also sell very cute stationery, gifts, decor and knick knacks (the boho-y vibes are strong-ya feel me?). Seating is decent, some outlets available depending on the location of your seat, and it can be VERY glare-y and a bit TOO bright depending on where you are sitting and facing since they do leave the windows open so beware of that. You may not be able to see your laptop screen or your friend or partner/anything because you'll have the sun in your face. Sunglasses may be needed. Bathrooms are clean too. Always a plus! Communal is the quintessential hipster coffee shop! The vibrant ambience is inviting and picturesque. When one sees a "hipster" coffee shop on the television, particularly set in California, you invariably end up with something rather like Communal. Complete with patrons glued to various devices such as iPhones and laptops, paying no attention to those around them despite the close proximity of some of the tables. I have only had the avocado toast (and the cucumber avocado toast that is not currently on the menu) but I love it. It is my go-to for a brunch. read more

Love the look of the place! So many cool things to check out and everything! The coffee is good and strong! I needed to add some extra cream and sugar at home. Parking can be a little tricky since it is a busy neighborhood/area. My friend saw some ladies outside having something in a bowl she thought looked good. I told her we should ask the girls what they ordered. She did not want to do that, but I wish we would've done it! Instead we got oatmeal. I was shocked to see the cashier grab a pre-made oatmeal cup from behind the counter. I thought maybe she would pour it in a bowl, but no lol! She did add some fruit which was cool, but a $2 up charge. I must've misread the menu since I thought the oatmeal came with lots of fruits, but this was not the case. The oatmeal was fine, but small. I don't think I have had an almond flavored oatmeal before. For $6, I could've walked to the liquor store around the corner and got an oatmeal cup for way less. Dope spot. Space: open, airy, abundant and welcoming. If west elm had a cafe/wine bar People: the staff is kind, constantly testing out drink recipes and freshness ( I think - they definitely label so that's a good sign of hygiene). when busy just remind them if they forget your pastry or something bc they're people too. I used to bartend, so shit gets hectic and I get it. patrons are chill and helpful. good amount of foot traffic, but not a crazy volume where the staff is overloaded and drinks are missed. the customers are friendly so the vibe check is on point Coffee: Great drinks so far - the cold brew mint thing and house brews are good. Their lattes are good too. It's coffee, so it's hard to mess up. I love coffee and pull my own espressos so I don't expect a highly dialed in grade of quality anywhere. They make their drinks well, and if you don't like it just talk to your barista and work with them. Work/study: Great spot to study or work from. Plenty of outlets. I love this place. One day I'll snag a cinnamon roll! haha it sells out by 11:30 am on weekends. note: Restaurant industry is struggling everywhere. Some places are short staffed while other places deal with shortages. You'll notice anywhere that people are training others. Take it chill, give space, and just work with the flow of things. Give helpful feedback rather than aggressive criticism. First and foremost I want to say don't let the aesthetics of this coffee shop fool you. I recently visited this place over the weekend with my sisters and felt very uncomfortable. From what I would have thought would be a lovely coffee date with the gals turned into such a horrible experience . If I could give zero stars I would have ! There was one employee who took my order I forgot to get his name but he was very nice when placing my order. Although following that me and my sisters were constantly being stared down as if we weren't welcome . Yes we are paying customers & bought coffee / food. Throughout our time there employees were very unwelcoming as if they did not want to serve us . Yes we were a party of 14 but kept our areas very tidy & in no way did we disturb others. In fact customers came up to us admiring that we were getting together and thought it was cool. We did exchange gifts there but made sure to clean afterwards. If your from oside you know how oside gets down . Everyone's friendly and welcoming . This place was far from it . I will not be returning !!! read more

I'm not sure where to leave this review as it's for their flowers- not the cafe. Having been to the store and seeing their gorgeous flower arrangements I was very excited to have an opportunity to order a flower crown for my daughters 16th birthday. The communication was great ... the product was disappointing. There was a great difference between the online photo and the product we received. It almost felt like the main flowers were missing. I went to JoAnns and bought silk flowers to finish it to expectation before her event. I didn't say anything on picking it up because I didn't want to embarrass my daughter. I emailed the florist and received a 'sorry your disappointed but that's what it is' response in return. So, in an effort to save others from the disappointment I felt- understand that what's online is not what you will get, even accounting for seasonal availability in flowers. read more

One of my friends told me this was a really good spot to go to for studying and that they had really good coffee so I decided to give it a try. I came today around 3:30 and it is a really nice coffee shop from the outside but the service completely ruined the experience for me. I saw a cute card on my way up to the cash register, so I brought it up to the counter to buy it. A lady with curly hair and a beanie walked up to the counter to help me and I handed her the card so she could scan the barcode. After she scanned the card, she literally tossed it onto the counter in front of me while I had my hand out to grab it back. After a moment of disbelief, she said "anything else" and I ordered my coffee. She submitted my order so I could pay and then walked away without a "thank you" or "your order will be out in a moment". I walked around, looking for a table for a couple minutes but was unsuccessful. after a few minutes, someone left the bar seating, and I was able to grab their spot. The coffee took almost 10 minutes to come out and was subpar to be completely honest. I wanted to like this place but it felt very pretentious and uncomfortable. I ended up only staying for about 10 minutes until I decided to go to my regular coffee shop, which I should've done from the beginning. read more

Love this cafe! Super cute with lots of fun stuff for sale. The plants everywhere make for a calming environment. The avocado toast here is one of my faves - the rosemary bread is the perfect touch. False advertising on business hours. I got there at 7pm and it was closed. There were two girls inside did even look up. Very disappointed.

The girl with the light brown hair and red nails wearing the brooks sweater making the drink was actually so rude. I waited 30+ minutes for just an iced matcha. I asked 15 mins in who a drink was for when I saw a matcha on the counter, She said it wasn't mine. Another 15 mins later I asked again who the same matcha that I asked previously is for and if she had made a matcha under my name. She said "Oh I made that one a long time ago, Noah took it" and then dumped someone else's matcha that was sitting on the counter for a very long time that was all melted and watered down into a to go cup and tried to give it to me. She had a rbf and was glaring in the rudest way at everyone. I didn't see her smile once. Note for the girl: if you hate your job so much maybe you should quit!! :) also when the guy working next to her asked what happened, she said "nothing it doesn't matter" like yeah it does, you have terrible customer service ms.girl! read more
