Overhyped and overpriced. The coffee shop establishment is cute and spacious, with decent outdoor seating. But the coffee itself is only a hair above "pretty good". Service too is a hit or a miss, the young blonde girl that took my order was not personable at all and just look disgruntled and over it, she even hit my wife and I with the signature "Gen-Z Stare". My wife and I both worked retail and food service for years so we know how much the industry sucks, but still, her attitude does not get a pass. Honestly this individual is a discredit to Communal Coffee. However, when I picked up our order, the brunette barista was super kind and helpful! Hopefully the rest of the team is more like her and not the blonde girl. So shoutout to her! Lastly, I asked for light ice in my iced coffee because I don't like watered down coffee and they filled it only 3/4ths full. I payed for a full coffee but got 3/4ths instead (see photo). The place has windows all around which  gives it an open and welcoming atmosphere. The service was fast. We ordered; -Batch brew for my husband - two Ube Matcha Latte for me and my daughter. The drink had the perfect balance between matcha and ube with the right sweetness. Love this place! This place is beautiful! I got a beautiful floral arrangement for a friend and she loved it! The matcha ube latte was also amazing and the avocado and hot honey toast was bomb! The only thing is that their chai latte was pretty spicy! Heavy on the ginger which I didn't mind but was too spicy for my 15 year old daughter. I used to absolutely love coming to Communal -- I was here almost every day, and the salted maple sausage sandwich was my go-to treat on my days off. But ever since they changed the recipe (more than once), it's just not the same. The English muffins they use now taste cheaper and nowhere near as good. The last time I ordered it (2-3 weeks ago), there was WAX PAPER cooked into the cheese and egg. I didn't realize until I had eaten most of it. I was told I'd get a refund, but never received one. I paid $30 for a sandwich that now tastes like something from McDonald's, plus a coffee I didn't even drink -- and honestly, coffee in this town has gotten way better elsewhere. I also used to love their bagel with herbed cream cheese and raw onion, but it's a gamble -- half the staff tell me "no" without even checking (lazy), and the other half will actually walk to the kitchen and confirm. It's inconsistent and frustrating. Today I decided to give them another chance and ordered the avocado toast, which has always been bland except for big chunks of salt on top. I asked for balsamic to make it better -- they didn't even have balsamic in the kitchen. In the end, I canceled my order before finishing it because I knew I wouldn't be pleased. I tried their salmon lox bagel and it was so good. The bagel still tasted like a bagel too. Cream cheese wasn't too salty and the textures went well. Was in town visiting friends and they suggested this place as one of their favorites and it was easy to see why. They have a pretty nice storefront set up with all kinds of goods to browse while you're in line. They had mugs, and kitchenware, but they also had jewelry, books, and clothing. They had something for kids, adults, pets. There was so much to see. I didn't get a chance to browse the entire store but it definitely made me want to come back to peruse through it all. Seems like it would maybe be a good spot to grab a coffee and grab a last minute gift if you were visiting someone and didn't want to show up empty handed. There were people there with their dogs and kids so it was pretty family friendly. Parking wasn't too difficult, we found a spot right out front, but I'm not sure if that's the norm here. Service was friendly. I opted for seasonal latte and it was good. It wasn't too strong, but it was enjoyable. We got 4 drinks total and they didn't take long to prepare at all. They have a lot of tables and seating indoors, but since it was a nice day, we opted to sit in the back patio. There was definitely more seating in the back so if you're with a group, the back would be the place to sit. Definitely worth visiting if you're in town. read more

I really enjoyed my mocktail and the harvest bowl that I had. The only complaint is the portion sizes. I typically don't finish my meal and this time I left hungry. The harvest bowl had the best aioli I've ever had! I need a side of dat lol. You can tell their dishes are nicely crafted and someone takes pride in it. It was a super cute place to chill. It's very lounge like and the mocktail I had was this hibiscus ginger beer drink that was so good but also very small for a mocktail. It might just be me but mocktails should be larger because the lack of alcohol. I really wanted to like this place. If you are looking for a place to hang out and Instagram - this is your spot. If you are really hungry - check Yelp for photos before ordering we got the "sandwiches" , which were basically "English breakfast sandwiches" - my bad for not reading the fine print. For over $12 bucks - I didn't think it would be snack-size but I was wrong. Sorry I expect American-portions..not Iceland/european portions.. The orange cardamom latte was disappointing- did not have the fragrance of neither. I paid a dollar more for oat milk too. Disappointed. It was fine as a regular oat latte ...it just wasn't an orange cardamom latte..if you've ever had it in Seattle..this one just ain't it. Sorry communal. To be fair, our experience was tainted by drunk day drinkers talking loudly in the outside seating area. We would've moved except my latte took forever and we were too starving to move tables once our $12 snack arrived. Will I try this place again? Phenomenal service and amazing coffee/food! This is my third time here and I have always been served quality coffee with great customer service. The staff is so so kind. They double checked that a particular drink was dairy free, and they were beyond helpful/sweet in fixing a mistake I made when ordering a food item! This place is one of the most beautiful coffee shops I've ever been to. It has a flower shop within the cafe and a cute little section for local goodies and coffee beans. Wow the inside of communal is GORGEOUS. So many pretty colors and plants everywhere. There is plenty of seating inside and outside as well and free wifi for those who want to work. I got the ube matcha latte which is a seasonal drink. The flavors blended perfectly together and it came out super pretty. It wasn't too sweet as well which was good. I'm truly bummed to be making a negative update to my review. I hadn't visited in over a month but decided to stop in this morning to treat myself to a bagel and coffee. Everything was alright (except the batch drip coffee, which I drink black, was very acidic today), the food was good as usual, the service friendly. Only after the fact did I realize my $15 ham and cheese bagel sandwich was charged as $18, simply because I'd requested an everything bagel. Nowhere on the menu does it mention everything bagels costing an extra $3, only gluten-free bagels. Though the bagel sandwich was delish, no one could justify $18 for it! This place did not disappoint. It's equally cute from what it appears on the photos. Parking was easy to find, not as congested as downtown. It was also fairly slow when we arrived so we did not wait long to order or receive our food. You do have to go up to the cashier and order your food AND the one thing I disliked about it was that I wasn't aware we had to get our drinks from the counter. And, we weren't told this, so we were waiting for our drinks most of the time until I finally got up and asked where they were! This is a super cute coffee/drink spot in oceanside! Tons of street parking and the decor is adorable. Its quiet and calming with small groups chatting at a reasonable level. My coworker and I came by to work remotely and were able to sit down and order directly from the table. The lavender lemonade was delicious and they have cute holiday drinks now as well!
