I been a customer of the computerized cobbler for more than 10 years and they have always done such a great job; bringing my shoes back to life and making them look almost like new. Just went there this morning, only because I had to pick up a repair for my GF. Got to the mall at 10:05am...no one was at the store. Went to Sears to burn some time, then when I got back it was open, but none was there! Really. After 5 minutes, the lady shows up. then besides picking up a repair all I needed was two pairs of heel plates (takes about 30 seconds)....Noone else was int eh store, but she asked me fi I could come back tomorrow. Worst experience ever! I definitely rate this store and the female manager a NEGATIVE five stars. Buyer Beware! If you are even thinking about going to this location inside the mall, stop yourself right now and do NOT, I repeat, do NOT step one foot inside. I walked into this store looking for black paint for my already black ankle high suede boots. The manager showed me a can of M&B Suede Renew in black. She had to use a step stool to reach for the last can on the top shelf. When she brought the can over to me, I noticed there was a drip of dried black paint on the bottom part of this can. I asked the manager if she could sell me a different can. Obviously to me, this can appeared to be previously used. The manager said (speaking very loudly) this was the last one in the store. I questioned her about the black drip of paint at the bottom of the can. The manager's response was, "I don't sell used things, only brand new things. This can is new. We couldn't still be in business for 30 years if I sold used things!" At this point in time, I should have walked out of that store as fast as I could, knowing I was about to be ripped off. Instead, I trusted her when she said to me, "I guarantee this is a new can." She asked what I needed the can of black paint for and I explained I wanted to darken my black ankle boots. She insisted that I bring my boots into the store so she could darken them for me because that's what they can do there. I kindly declined, and I made my purchase. BIG MISTAKE! I went home, cleaned my black ankle boots to prepare them for the can of spray, shook the can as directed on the back, and as I sprayed my right shoe, I noticed the can struggled to spray out the black paint. I shook the can again, and put force to the spray button. I was able to spray one light coat of black paint over my already black suede ankle boots, so I went on to the next shoe... and then it happened. The so-called new can of black spray paint for suede shoes RAN OUT OF PAINT! I called the manager and she said she sold me a new can and that I just needed to buy ANOTHER CAN so I can spray my other shoe. WHAT THE HECK? She again said that the can she sold to me "is only good for ONE shoe, not for one PAIR of shoes." I told her I truly believe she accidentally sold me a used can. She then began to argue with me saying, "You need to purchase another can of paint for the other shoe," and continued saying that, "sometimes it can take three or four cans of paint for one pair of shoes." At this point, I thought this can't REALLY be happening? I asked to speak to the Owner of this store. She yelled, "NO, you can only speak to me because I am the manager." I told her since I knew she and I weren't getting anywhere with this incident, that I would rather speak to the owner so they could try to help us with this unique situation. Again, she yelled, "No!" Then she said she has a customer, and immediately hung up the phone. I called another store at a different location in San Diego and explained what I just went through at the Escondido store. This store had a courteous sales associate who asked the main shoe repair person about the can of paint I bought, as I explained to this sales associate the brand name of the can and size. They then told me that the can I purchased has enough black paint inside to be used on 10 pairs of suede shoes, or 2 pairs of long suede boots. I called the manager back at the store in Escondido, told her what I was told by another store of the same name, and she yelled at me again saying, "The can is only good for ONE shoe, NOT a pair of shoes!" Then she accused me of spraying too much paint on my one shoe and that's the reason I ran out of paint so quickly. She declined to take ownership of the sale, told me that she cannot give me a refund or exchange it for a new can because I already used all of the paint inside the can, and insisted that I just buy another can so I can paint my other shoe. When I asked once again that she have the owner of that store call me, she yelled, "NO, I am the manager and you can only speak to me." Then she yelled, "You don't call back complaining about the same thing. It's your fault how you spray your shoes, not mine!" And hung up the phone. Would you believe this was over something that cost less than twenty bucks? It's so true... WOW! This manager is a complete liar, does not show accountability for her actions, yells horribly loud, and needs to be replaced with a new, more professional manager in order for this store to stand a chance of surviving. Just picked up an old pair of very comfortable boots I had resoled. They look like new! Great job!

So I bought my daughter a pair of UGG fluffy slides for Christmas at this store. Bought them on November 30,2019. When purchased, I specifically had mentioned we were doing Christmas shopping and that these were for my daughter. The lady waiting on me NEVER stated that all returns are only 2 weeks. Doing the math, it was almost a month until Christmas. IF SHE HAD mentioned that, I would have happily taken myself down the hallway in the mall to Nordstrom's, who also carry said shoes, for same amount. I just saw them as we passed, they were on my list, so I bought them. Fast forward to Christmas. The slides I purchased from this store had a strap that was all stretched out. Just one. That tells me someone tried them on and stretched them out. My daughter was disappointed and we decided we just had to return them. So I go back to return and the lady tells me I only had two weeks, and refused to switch them out for a pair that were not damaged and that I had to go through the company. THIS is why people do not use small businesses! If this had happened at Nordstrom's, they would have gladly returned with no questions asked. This place sucks, will never spend money here again, nor ever recommend it. Hope it was worth it to them. read more

Bait and Switch Alert: Just bought a pair of new Birkenstock sandals. They had red tags on them that said $129.95 (you can get them online for $99 but I was in a hurry). I bought them. When I got to the checkout cash register the bill was $150. I asked the Manager why, when the price was $129.95. That was too much sales tax. "Oh," she said, "other customers place lower price tags on shoes . . . but when we get to the cash register, we scan the shoe box and it gives us the right price." "But you're the manager. You're responsible for inventory," I said. "You're also responsible for checking price tags and making sure they are accurate. To do otherwise winds up with deceptive and fraudulent advertising." She repeated the same mantra. I'll be contacting corporate headquarters (The Computerized Cobbler); I'll be contacting the management of Westfield Shopping Center, letting them know one of their merchants is employing bait and switch tactics, and I'll notify whichever governmental agency that enforces bait and switch laws. In addition to that, we'll be commenting in our column in The Paper, reminding our readers that there are still bait and switch tactics going on and The Computerized Cobbler is a store they may wish to avoid. read more

Horrible experience!!! 1 of 2 shoes was not fixed on pickup. Took an extra 5 days to fix (instead of a day on their error). Then I was told after paying and pickup that they won't warranty repair on that type of shoe... I wouldn't have fixed it knowing this. The service in this place sucks and I would also give negative stars if I could! I took in two pairs of shoes last Friday, one needed heel caps and the other had a broken heel. The broken heel was not completely broken off, the adhesive was failing near the back of the shoe. The "trainee" (as she was later referred to by the manager when I returned to pick them up) told me the heel would have to be removed and re-glued with industrial glue (same as used by shoe factories) for a cost of $16.99. I asked if they could guarantee their work. She told me if it broke again within 2 weeks, they would fix the repair for free so I agreed to get the work done. When I returned to pick up my shoes yesterday, the heel caps were replaced with no issue. The shoe with the broken heel had NOT been fixed. When I asked why the heel was still broken, the manager told me they had fixed the leather on the heel which was coming off. They had glued the leather back on. That was a lie. The heel had some scuff marks, but nothing a good polish wouldn't fix which is what they did. When I asked why they hadn't done the repair I requested, she pulled out the ticket and said "see, it says re-glue heel". It actually said re-glue BROKEN heel. The manager took the shoe from me and tried to break the heel saying "see, it's completely broken". I said, I know it's broken. That's why I brought it in. "Well, we only charged to glue the leather down, to fix the heel will be $20.99." Ok, so I should pay another $4, right? Wrong! She gets on the calculator, banging on the keys Madea-style, then says it will be $13.00 more. So I asked, why should I have to pay for a repair I didn't request? And she says...wait for it..."our trainee made a mistake". She doesn't know how much to charge." Not the answer to my question nor what I wanted to hear. This is not the first time I've had an issue with this shop but it will be the last. I took my broken shoe back and I'll be looking for a reputable shoe repair service. read more

Went in for the first time, asked about inserts for my new boots. The lady was rude and unhelpful. She gave me insoles to try and ripped apart my brand new inserts from my boots so I had no choice but to buy new ones. I was quoted almost double what they were actually worth! I left infuriated with my new boots that had no insoles anymore. Called today to try to see if they were going to do anything about it and got the run around. The brands of quality and healthy shoes are great. But, if you put an order in or leave a repair, it could take way longer than promised. Also, I bought a pair and returned them immediately, ordered another pair, paid the difference. When I picked up the new pair, the younger daughter again charged me the difference! She kept my receipt and demanded I owed her. I was quite shocked, and to not cause a scene, I again paid and took my shoes, but have never purchased there again. I didn't realize this was more of a shoe repair store, so their wasn't much of a selection. I showed her several pair of shoes I liked but she said some had no half sizes, 7, 8. 9 etc. . After some confusion as to the type of shoes she had, she brought out a pair of " Born " shoes a size 8 M. They were tight around the width, but she said at no cost she could stretch them. There was kind of a nick on the shoe, but she said that was because of the leather. The shoes, came to $140.00. I never did see a tag, but I trusted the store. On my way home, I started thinking of the whole experience and went on the Born website. same exact shoe cost $95.00. The receipt shows a batch number and amount, no tax and a sale on the receipt, what Sale? Is this legal? I would give zero stars if it were possible. My experience with the store manager, Maria S. was the same as Al in his 9/21/2016 review. I wished I had seen his review before going to get my boots repaired. I also am fighting the credit card charge with my credit card company. Reason for score: A. Shoddy workmanship on boot soles B. Poor customer service by the manager C. False advertising, stating on the job ticket, "All work is guaranteed to your satisfaction." The soles of the two pairs of cowboy boots were ruined by the shoddy stitch work of their machines. Maria even admitted that it was the machines fault, but would not re-do the work to my satisfaction. I asked numerous times if she would make the boots right and re-do the stitch work on the soles. She in turn, yelled at me numerous times that she does not manufacture the boots. Like I don't know this already! I just want them repaired properly! I will never go to this establishment again! Once again I received excellent services from the lady that took my shoes and the one that I picked up the shoes. I took my wife shoes to get new heals and cleaned. I have a pair of boots that the zipper was not working and I asked to find the cost to replace it, she told me it did not need to be replace but just fixed just like they did my daughter before. I can't attest to the work that they do at this location, but their customer service is awful. Like a previous reviewer said, you have to be VERY specific about what you need done and you need to have them write it down. I took a pair of boots in to have the shaft widened, and they gave me a date that they would be ready by. I went back on that date and they weren't ready, they gave me another date. I asked if they would call me if my shoes were not going to be ready when I came back and she said of course they would. When I went back on the second date, they still weren't ready (they didn't call to tell me, of course) and they gave me yet another day to come back. This time I called on the day they were supposed to be ready to double check that they were done. The owner/manager was very rude on the phone because I had to call her twice because I couldn't hear her on the phone, and told me they were ready and to just come by and get them. My shoes still were NOT ready when I went in. When I told her that I had called and she said that they were ready she said she hadn't understood what I had said on the phone. She said she could have them ready in the next two days, but I decided to just take my shoes elsewhere. Dishonest!!!! Be very careful here. I had a pair of black evening shoes that I had attached a pair of $80 clip-on earrings by clipping them on the shoes AND SEWING black thread round them to make sure they would not fall off. I thought about removing the decorative clip before taking the shoes in, but trusted the people at this place. Big mistake. They stole the decorative clips and denied that they were ever there, even though I pointed out pieces of cut thread that were still left on the shoes. These people are theives. read more

Horrible business practices. A simple, non-rush, heel change was not finished as promised. Employees are RUDE, DEFENSIVE, ARGUMENTATIVE AND DISHONEST! I Brought my boots in on a Saturday with the promise that they would be ready The next day by 11 AM. I arrived Sunday at 5 PM and they were not even touched. In fact, they were in a pile of shoes that were not even worked on. When I explained to the employee that it was to have been ready, she said they don't even have Repair people on weekends, So how could my boots have been ready? Showed her my receipt with the promise date of completion and she was not even empathetic. I informed this person that the employees need to be on the same page and understand that if a shoe cannot be repaired on weekends then don't make any false promises. I retrieved my unfinished boots back and got a refund. Don't trust these people. Additionally this place is overpriced. Ok.....start date for this was thursday. follow up on the review I posted for this so called business. Manager told me Saturday my boots would be done. I call them Saturday boots won't be done until Monday because they don't have the right size sole for my boots to be re-soled. Call them today (Monday). My boots now supposedly will be done Wednesday. Because they had to ORDER the soles on Monday....This is not the way to do business! No phone calls from them or anything. If I could give this business a minus 1 rating I would! Horrible customer service. The young lady I spoke with was very rude and wouldn't accept any responsibility whatsoever for the mixup. Awesome shoe repair place, I have a pair of boots that fit like a glove and they make my feet feel like royalty when I wear them, but unfortunately the soles got too worn out and I really did not want to get rid of them so I took them to get them resoled at the Computerized Cobbler. They fixed my boots in a timely manner and their prices are more than reasonable. They replaced my old boots' soles with good quality new soles and the stitching was implacable I would highly recommend this place. read more

I returned an expensive pair of shoes, never worn, after already having spent about 400.00 there. I also was picking up a pair that was being repaired that I bought there at the same time. When I dropped off the pair for repair, and bought the pair I would eventually return, the repair was said to be free (by Bertha). When I returned the shoes I bought and picked up the repaired shoes, Bertha said she had to charge me 10.00 for the repair since I brought the other pair back. First thing I don't agree with is the up front payment. If you pay in advance most likely you won't get good service. Second, I requested they stretch a pair of Ferragamo boots and re-polish them. They told me to come back in a week. I went back 10 days later and the boots were not ready, they said to come back in another 7 days. So at day number 17 I return only to find that the boots had not been stretched only polished (good thing I decided to try them on while at the store) so they asked me to come back another 7 days later... Frankly if they don't get it right this 3rd time, I'm going to request a refund and go elsewhere. This shoe place was the only place around that can fix my boyfriend's dress up shoes. We've been wanting to go for awhile so we finally decided to go last week. The lady who works there got down our information and told us it will be ready next week and she will give him a call. The total he paid was $60. The next week she did not give him a call so he went there. Then she basically says for a full fix it would be $30 more. I didn't think he would have paid for the extra $30 if she called to tell us that before fixing it, he would've just went to go buy another pair of shoes. But she didn't. I took a new, expensive shoe to this cobbler to have the straps lengthened for my mom who has a disability and wears a brace on one leg. I took in a shoe they had done previously to show exactly what I wanted done. Not only was the shoe not done when promised but the workmanship was poor and the material used was rough and cheap. I left the shoe to be redone but when I returned the women argued loudly (I asked her to lower her voice) that the work was the best they could do and that the strap would not show. She refused to redo the work saying they are only a "shoe repair". The motto on the sales slip says all work done to the " customer's satisfaction". The work was expensive, $50, and the employee rude. I would not recommend this shop to anyone as they do not stand by their work or motto! Negative stars to this shop!! read more

Awful!!!! And that is being nice...I took in a pair of shoes that I needed dyed for my wedding. I wanted them to be purple to go with the bridesmaid's dresses. The lady at the store said that she could dye them purple but that they may be a little lighter or darker than the color I picked. When I went to pick them up they were 3 different shades of purple all over the shoes with spots of black and drippings of what looked like purple paint. There were even parts of the shoes w/o dye. When I tried talking to them about it I was told too bad and they don't care. I said I would let others know and she said "they have been in business for 25 years and what I say doesn't matter." I went there on a recommendation by a shoe salesman at SAS because I needed to have a lift on a shoe. He said she had good rates and did very good work. I went to computerized cobbler and spoke to the owner about what I needed done. Her first quoted price was over the top high so we said we were going elsewhere to have the work done. She finally gave us a reasonable price and we left the shoe. She said it would be ready after 5:00 the following day, we called and it was not ready. It was ready the next day when my husband went to pick it up. However, the store was closed at 11:00 on Sunday morning and opened 15 minutes late. She had called the man at SAS shoes, not sure why but happy she did as my bill was $40 less than she quoted. The workmanship of the shoe is very good and she was very nice to deal with. We brought them in, and she said it would be done in about two-three days and she will give him a call. The charge was $60. Three days later I told him to call and get an update.. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My husband brought a very nice pair of shoes in to have the back of the shoe fixed because it was cutting into his heel. They assured him it would be no problem to fix. We left the shoe and went back to pick them up, while in the store I ran my fingers on the part of the shoe that was suppose to be fixed and nothing had been done to the shoe. Jasmine who was the clerk (I don't blame her she is just an employee) said she could feel the sharpness but there was nothing she can do. She suggested I call Bertha. On Monday I called Bertha and explained the situation and she said to bring the shoe in, I told her that I lived in Fallbrook and I wouldn't be able to get there right away and asked if she could just issue me a refund, she said she had to look at the shoe before issuing a refund. I made the drive to Escondido and all she did was yell at me that the shoe had been fixed I asked her if she can feel the sharpness on the heel of the shoe and all she kept saying was "it was softer than it use to be" EXCUSE ME! Don't go here. I asked for heels and soles on some BOC ankle boots. The lady asked if I wanted them 'cleaned up' and I said yes. She quoted me $27.99. When I picked up the boots, they had been reheeled and polished but no soles. I should mention that they do look very nice. However, when wearing them they are all off balance because they have new heels but no new soles. Lady argued with me that I didn't ask to have them re-soled? Really? How would I not know I wanted them resoled. So basically I paid for some black polish and beeswax that I have a home and still need my shoes re-soled. They did offer to re-sole the shoes for an additional $45. Agree with other reviews: Overpriced, no customer service and no real intention to do the work you ask for. read more

I was double charged by the store and was given so much run around and still didn't get my refund. I called and spoke to Vertha, told her I was double charged. She said she will check with her processing company and call me the next day between 1-2pm. I never got the call back, so I called again and left info with some other lady because Vertha was gone for the day. I thought, they are the once messed up and at least have courtesy to call me when you say you will call me. I disputed one charge with my bank. Then Vertha calls and says the payment was refunded on 1/26 (purchase was done on 1/21). She says since I disputed one charge with my bank and the other was refunded, that she don't have the money for the rain boots. I told her not to charge my card until I check with my bank on the refund and I will call by the end of the day and that I do not give her authorization to run my card. She still charged me anyway without my authorization. I called her and asked why she charged my card since I didn't authorized her, she says her processing company said to do so. I said, its not their name on the card and they don't have rights to authorize any payments. So I was right back to the double charge. I told Vertha to take care of the double charge but the end of the week and that I will not allow to charge me anything ever again. I also, asked to give me her manager's name and contact info. She stopped communicating with me. So I was forces to dispute the charge with my bank and deactivate my card. I will never shop there ever again and they are the once made huge mistake and putting me throw all the hustle. read more
