Condado used to be one of my favorite taco places, but they've really grown off of me. I used to enjoy their awesome stuffed shells and their chips, but I've realized that their shells are just very unhealthy and unauthentic. They're just way too oily and they're not even technically "taco" shells. The meat options also aren't too great--especially their shrimp option. Their shrimp filling is way too tart/limey to enjoy. Their tacos are also just way too overwhelming. There's just so much cheese and guac that the taco itself isn't very enjoyable. The flavors are also pretty average. The place is ok and a super hot spot for students, but in terms of authenticity, the tacos are extremely Americanized and lacking true Latin flavors. read more

The friendly neighborhood bar vibe was cool and the tacos were excellent. I took off a star because the old fashioned was just strange. If I could only eat one type of food for the rest of my life, I would choose tacos. I mention this because, while I wouldn't claim the title of taco connoisseur, I have a more than healthy appreciation for tasty tacos. I was introduced to Condado Tacos about a year ago and have been a huge fan ever since-it has quickly become my favorite taco place in Columbus. Their queso is a generous portion, creamy and delicious, and topped with jalapeños, for those who want a little extra kick. It also comes with red and green salsa, which means it's a great appetizer for a group. You can get variations of the queso, but honestly, the normal version is so great that you don't need to. The chips are crispy and thick enough to support scoops of queso or guacamole without being too thick or chewy. As a vegetarian, I really appreciate that Condado is a place where I will have multiple delicious options, which isn't always true. The servers I've had have all been incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients, which is great for folks with special diets/dietary restrictions. A friend who eats gluten free recommended Condado and I've introduced my mom, who is vegan, to their tacos and she was hugely impressed with the selection. To top it all off, their beer menu is solid and they have some tasty margaritas. Definitely worth checking out if you like to customize your meal, are vegan/vegetarian/GF, or just like really delicious tacos and drinks. I love to go here for drinks or dinner. We went here for Galentines Day last night and I've never seen it not crowded which is awesome! I got 3 create ur own tacos, 2 with shrimp and one with portobello. If you are creating your own, I would suggest not overloading on toppings and pick a good sauce that sounds the best to you. I had to leave a review to let everyone know that the management is phenomenal at this location. I had an issue with a to-go order so I gave them a call and they went above and beyond to fix it. I wish I got the name of this manager in particular because he deserves the recognition (and a raise) for providing excellent service on a very busy night. It's easy to make mistakes on a busy night, but it is not easy to answer the phone on a busy night, solve an issue, and provide great service. Cannot recommend this location enough! I went for Happy Hour with a friend who introduced me to this magical eatery. I love tacos, like if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life that thing would be tacos. So now that we are up to speed on my taco-love, I hope my opinion is trust worthy to all you fellow Taco-lovers. The great thing about Condado is that you have the option to get a pre-made taco or to design your own extravagant delicious masterpiece. If you want to try my tacos I ordered: 1 taco in a Sweet Lucy tortilla ($1 extra), with Pulled Pork, Pickled Red Onions, Red Cabbage, Queso Fresco, Corn Salsa, and Habanero/Mango BBQ..... This taco is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Highly recommend my delicious concoction. and 1 taco in a flour tortilla, with Shrimp Ceviche, Jicama + Cabbage Slaw, Chihuahua cheese, Pineapple salsa, and Cilantro/Lime aioli.... This taco was also EXTREMELY delicious, can't go wrong with ceviche. Tacos are $3 plus any add-ons that are clearly stated on the menu. For Happy hour, tacos are $1 off. The other great thing about Happy Hour is half off margaritas!!!! If you like sour and sweet, I recommend the Prickly Pear Margarita ($3 for Happy Hour), so delicious... but I could only handle one because of the sourness. I had the awesome opportunity to try Condado tonight, and the atmosphere and food was fantastic. They aren't quite done with the decorating, but the place looks fantastic so far. They have plenty of great draft beers and high-end liquor behind the bar to let you know that they mean business in the Short North. You get to create your own tacos or choose from pre-made favorites that were put together, and all of the options that we were able to try were delicious. The chorizo and brisket were fantastic, and their sauces were so tasty. Considering this was a soft opening, the service was pretty stellar, and our server in particular had a great understanding of everything on the menu, We were able to meet the owner and manager, and both were able to take time to chat with us about everything on the menu, and their ideas for the future of the bar. I expect this place to be a new favorite in the Short North scene and draw a good amount of attention from Bakersfield and many other bars in the area. By the time we left, the restaurant was packed, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves knowing it was their first real night in service. I could see this place being a great hangout late at night or being a spot where Short North goers start off with a good meal before they get the chance to explore the rest of the neighborhood. This is another great step in connecting the Short North to the South campus and should draw a great following in the weeks to come. read more

They wanted to spend too much time explaining the concept of this establishment, rather than just letting us figure it out, and answering questions if anyone gets confused. Almost 35 minutes? Really? What'd you order, Gwen? Chips and Salsa Verde to start. The chips weren't bad. Basically, fried slices of flour tortillas. The salsa, however, did not get the same respect. All I could taste was sweet sugar. No tomatillos flavor. No spices. Just green. I decided to make my own tacos, since that's what a majority of Yelp Reviews suggest. One House Made Chorizo. And a Chicken. I couldn't get over the chorizo's metallic taste. It was very pronounced. Not good at all. No sausage taste :( The toppings on that taco didn't help to hide the taste. The grilled chicken was ok, in comparison. Nothing spectacular, but I could taste a hint of the protein. The extremely mediocre taste did not leave a lasting impression. read more

We arrived for a late lunch on Saturday around 3:15 and were seated right away. The first thing we noticed was it was SO loud. It wasn't even a full house. It's not possible to have a conversation without raising your voice. Not cool. The other negative is lack of fish taco options. Shrimp, yes. Mahi mahi, no. For vegetarians, they have portobello tacos, but that's not something I would ever order since I don't like mushrooms. Now for the good stuff. The order forms on the tables are nifty. You can take your time to check off what you want,and the server takes it when you are ready. I love it. I preferred the flour tortillas over the corn. The best protein, IMO, was the Thai Chili Tofu. The toppings that I tried were awesome: lettuce, red cabbage, and jicama slaw. I had the chihuahua cheese and the pineapple salsa. The choices for sauces are fantastic, especially the cilantro/lime aioli. The service was fast and friendly. The draft beer selection, and the margaritas were great, as well as the queso and chips. Condado is pretty great. That doesn't mean that there are never hiccups. But by and large my Condado experiences have been positive. First, it's just plain fun. The variety of toppings and the ability to mix and match at will is great. It has resulted in some winning combinations. There would be no way to list every such combination on a regular menu. The menu would have to be massive! These are not authentic tacos, nor are they trying to be. And that's totally ok. Second, it's a pretty good deal. The tacos (if properly assembled) are large and worth the $3 base price. It's an even better deal if you get them at discounted pricing during happy hour or other such events. Finally, the drink options are great. They have a good beer list and tons of options for margaritas. Like the tacos, the margaritas aren't going for the purist approach. Instead they're fun and different. I particularly like the sweet/spicy rim that's available. There are some misses: - the beer is served in mason jars. This is a trend I'm ready to see end. Just a regular glass please! - It's possible to put together bad taco combinations if you're not careful. This is the downside to so much menu freedom. My suggestion is to limit yourself to one topping from each category. A lot of the toppings are cold, so if you load up too much then it could detract from the overall experience. - It can get pretty noisy at times, so not necessarily the place for an intimate conversation. - You can find only order two different tacos per order sheet. If you want more than that another one is required. They should be able to fit at least three on a sheet. It would save them money AND paper. All that said, I'll reiterate: Condado is pretty great. If you're looking for a fun place for dinner you could do much worse. read more

Yep, the hype is real. This taco joint is so freaking delicious! My friend and I sauntered in here on a Friday night and had a relatively short 15-minute wait. Upon being seated, however, no one came to greet us for another solid 15 minutes. Annoying. I was kind of prepared to use the scantron-like sheet to start "designing" my tacos, but my friend, who had not read any reviews (and came based on my recommendation), was confused to say the least. Suggestion: it would be nice if the hosts explained the concept to patrons while they are waiting for a table or if the servers could initially stop by once diners are seated so that they are fully prepared. In any case, our server finally came and we ordered a pitcher of the regular margarita, pineapple guacamole, and two tacos each (one chorizo and one tofu for me and one tofu and one mushroom for my friend). We both opted for the soft tortilla + hard shell variation (veggie and meat options available). Since the combinations are endless, here are just a few tasting notes: - the food comes out super fast, which is awesome if you're dying of hunger - pineapple anything (salsa or guac) over here is tasty - I love that the menu items are garlicky; for example, the guac has a pleasant amount of it to make it very delicious - get at least one soft tortilla + hard shell combo; great texture - restrain yourself on fillings. I went overboard and had to take a taco home (though it reheated beautifully in the oven and was delicious with an egg for breakfast) - the veggie options are delightful. I had an interesting first experience here which I will get to in a moment. The tacos are good, nice flavour, house made salsas etc all on par with what I would hope to find in such a place. I love the house made chip side options.. SO many salsas and queso style dips. I also very much enjoyed the fact they had a ghost pepper salsa.. my kinda people! You know what is better than their tacos though ? Their Brunch! I honestly feel as much as I enjoyed dinner there the brunch menu just grabs my attention more. Take more traditional brunch/ breakfast foods and add a Mexican style twist to it. Of course they also have tacos at brunch but with breakfast meats mmmmm. So my first experience. Take note they keep house salasa on the tables but (at the time at least) they put it in a larger ketchup style container with the pointed tip. This would work for a hot sauce of sorts with no chunks or.. ketchup, mustard etc. Well after having a few pints at North High Brewing and a few margaritas here I did not have the good sense to just unscrew the top of this bottle to get the savory salsa in side. No.. I kept squeezing even though the salsa wasn't coming out. After a few tries I decided to harness the Power of Grayskull and give it one last attempt....... sigh... this resulted in shooting contents of the bottle all over the table and floor. Condado was a disappointing experience. This stylish tex-Mex place is located on High Street, at the northern edge of the Short North. On the recommendation of the waitstaff, I tried the "dirty queso" ($8) and corn salsa (sadly no free chips and salsa here). The corn salsa was nothing special, and the "dirty queso" consisted of a thin milky sauce, with black beans and small pieces of chicken. I tried the two tacos, one "El Santo" (chicken) and a build-your-own one with beef brisket. They were nothing special. The tortillas tasted like what you get at Kroger, and the meat inside the taco was drowned in sauce. The most disappointing part of my meal was the sides we ordered. I ordered rice and two types of beans ($1.50 each). The sides were served in plastic tubs (like the ones you put salsa in at Chipotle), and tasted stale and microwaved. The service also left much to be desired. It took a while to get the check, and we only got refills on drinks when requested. The prices were also pretty high.
