Went to check out Condados on South High St last night. Went for dinner and had a good time. The food was great and the staff was friendly. Krystal the manager stopped by our table to check that our food and service were good and she seemed to genuinely care. The atmosphere was very casual and they have a very nice outside patio area on one side of the restaurant and sidewalk seating in the front. Our food orders came quickly and the food was delicious. Noticed that they had a lot of carryout orders while sat and ate. All in all it was a good time and I would recommend the place. read more

I thought the tacos were very good!! Had the beef brisket and pork carnitas in a flour tortilla, cilantro, onions, queso fresco, salsa and spice habanero sauce... very basic but very like México City street tacos!! You don't really need any other topping because it would just take away from the flavor!! I would recommend lite onions because restaurant doesn't grate the onions, so they end up adding too much of it!! Also ask for lime wedges on the side.... let's make it authentic!! Sorry no photos of tacos, only cocktails!! Nice circuses, friendly staff! I regret tremendously going there for dinner. I'm not sure who's fixing the tacos in the kitchen but it certainly cannot be someone who has even a middle school level culinary knowledge and skill. In a city where you could find any amount of food carts offering authentic tacos, I'm shocked Condado is able to grab a downtown location with such poor quality tacos. Pardon me, but I just cannot with good conscience recommend this place to ANYONE. read more

Stopped into Columbus to break up a long drive home from DC. Our hotel recommended this place and we were starving after a long car ride, so we ordered from Condado. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I can't hold back. We ordered on line and had it delivered through Door Dash. The online ordering process was fantastic, as were the text alerts and the delivery process. Very impressed. But then we opened the bag of food... Tacos were subpar at best. If you're still using iceberg lettuce, diced tomato and seasoned ground beef on tacos you need to come out of Tuesday Night Dinner Land in 1978. My goodness. They were awful. They were cold. I asked for NO DAIRY on 4 of the tacos...guess what was on 2 of them? We ordered chips and in the chips were dices of tomato that somehow made it in the bag. It's as if the chips were recycled from an uneaten batch on a previous order. Hope not. One of the tacos was so salty it was inedible. We threw away 1/2 our food because it was just not good. Also ordered a ginger ale...never showed up. I'm not trying to be mean, but cmon man (in my best Joe Biden voice). If you're trying to be the next hip and cool taco place you need to bring your A game. This place would be out of business in 2 weeks in Chicago. And all yours for $75! Kinda goes with the whole Columbus experience. The town is hole. The hotel was a hole (in the middle of downtown nonetheless!) And this restaurant followed suit. Great spot to order ahead and scoop up during Covid. We haven't had a chance to enjoy the indoor dining during the pandemic but that looks to be a great set up too. Great location in the heart of downtown. Perfect for a gorgeous night when you want to explore the Commons or enjoy a downtown afternoon. This one is a bit smaller than it's Easton and Polaris counterparts, so be prepared to wait occasionally. Service coupled with the mediocre food was disappointing. A group of three friends and I met here on a Saturday @ 5 pm. It was not busy at all, a few tables on their patio were full, and a few on the inside. We got seated right away. Downhill from here. Our waiter (mind you, we saw three waiters the entire evening) was short and impatient with us. They had several food runners, but as this place started to fill up, service started to really suffer. Our orders where discombobulated: I was missing a Lunch Box taco, given an extra one to eat there, my friend's Box order was forgotten. He did eventually get it situated. The food was not memorable. Not at all. So much grease from the meat. I decided to get a Lunch Box: Five of their tacos in a to-go box, since we were headed to The Commons for a concert. Figured it'd be perfect, if someone got the munchies as the night rolled on. Kind of a bummer that you can't get any pre-suggested taco in a Box - It's only the last three that can come in cardboard. I chose a Los Sanchos (subbed in a soft flour shell) to eat there, and got the Poncho's Ghost Lunch Box (minus the ghost sauce, and added their pineapple salsa) to go. All I could taste from the Sanchos is hotness/spice. No distinct flavors. Dripping all over the place. I forgot about the Box tacos till I got home. I decided to munch one down, since it had been 5 hours since eating - a bedtime snack. Bummed: Absolutely no specific flavor profile in the Ponchos, either. Just spicy. **DISCLAIMER** This review is really more of a 3.5 stars but you can't do halfsies on Yelp so I rounded up because they just opened. There's a quote on the wall of this establishment that says, "si tus tacos chupan es tu culpa,' or something to that effect, meaning, "if your tacos suck, it's your fault." This is because you can build your own taco from top to bottom. Let me explain. You are handed a scantron. This scantron may send you into a tailspin of flashbacks of your childhood education days but this standardized test is a lot of fun. You get to choose what type of shell you want, what protein and all of your add-ons. You can even choose some sides. What I really love about the scantrons are the Veg/V/GF/D that help you identify what is vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or contains dairy. This is a big deal to me because of my milk allergy and it made me very happy. On the other hand, the scantron can be pretty confusing and was pretty daunting for my group at first. My 2 companions elected to go with the pre-made tacos that were on a separate menu because they were overwhelmed by the scantron concept. I very nearly joined them but I'm glad I tried it the other way because it was fun. Let's get to the food itself. Okay, for starters, we ordered an appetizer of chips and guac. The guac was really tasty and had a spicy little kick to it. The chips were REALLY bad. I was so disappointed. They were all just tiny broken pieces and they were completely saturated in salt. It was really rough. We got a second batch of chips that was slightly better but overall we couldn't even come close to finishing the guac because the chip fragments wouldn't allow it. The tacos themselves were bigger than we expected so we were all glad that we had only ordered two. I was very glad that they came with a fork and so were my comrades because not one of our taco shells made it out of the basket without completely disintegrating. I'm not sure what is up with these shells but I got the harder corn shells and the others got the flour shells and they all fell apart immediately. It made for a very messy experience. I tried the chicken and the shrimp ceviche. The shrimp was delicious! The chicken was meh. I may have put too many toppings on mine or something but I ended up not liking the chicken one much at all and only eating the ceviche one. I also ordered a side of rice and it was delicious! I almost wish I had just ordered that because it was good enough to eat on its own. Perfect combination of cilantro and lime juice! The side portions are very small which was a blessing since the tacos were bigger than anticipated. The best part about Condado is the drink selection. It is fantastic. I tried the Lady Lilith as well as the Buckeye Mule. The Buckeye Mule features Watershed products so I knew it would be a winner but the Lady Lilith was fantastic as well. I tried my boyfriends Blood Orange Margarita and it was also super tasty! The atmosphere gives off a "Dia de Los Muertos" vibe which is fun. The space is actually bigger than I anticipated and they also have a nice little patio. The restaurant was super crowded but they set the chairs up in a way that made it comfortable while eating. The service was mediocre which I mostly attribute to the busyness of the restaurant as well as the fact that it is a new place but it was definitely a slow dining experience and our server forgot multiple items such as my boyfriend's second drink and everyone's side dishes but hopefully that is something that will improve over time. I am excited about Condado because it is in my neighborhood and it is a short walk from work. I can only hope they'll get their act together with those ratty chips and make some changes to the taco shells and beef up the service. Safety isn't something you normally have to consider when you're going out to eat. I was out recently protesting, and carried my "Black Lives Matter" sign into Condado. A "Ken" in a Trump hat came up to me after having been drinking and tried to rip the sign I had out of my hands. Then he and another member of his party actually came outside, they were seated inside, and tried to intimidate my friend and I. Management did not ask them to leave... I think if someone had been drinking and grabbed even a CBJ sign, they would probably be asked to leave. I actually felt intimidated and my friend and I left. read more

Quick rant: I really don't want to be one of *those* people, but the music here is too effing loud. Seriously, my first visit here was a Friday night around 9 PM and the music was almost unbearable. During happy hour on a week day at 4 PM, the music volume had not changed at all! I shouldn't need to yell at my friends across the table during happy hour and dinner. ANYWAY, the food is good so I will probably continue to patronize Condado even though I might have hearing loss by age 30. I love the create your own taco set up. Even my friends who don't love tacos/Mexican/Tex-Mex (honestly don't know why we are friends JK) like coming to Condado because they can order tacos exactly the way they want. You have to pay for chips and salsa, but I don't mind. I usually skip the salsa and get the queso. Happy hour in on point here. Half off all margaritas and $1 off tacos from 4-7 PM Monday-Friday. HH is only in the bar area so be aware of that. If you don't like your food because you suck at making your own taco, they have some regular menu item taco options as well. Overall, I'm impressed with the food and the price point (especially during happy hour). My boyfriend and I just moved to Columbus and had some tacos here on our first date night out. We're both vegetarians and it's always nice to see different protein options on a menu - Condado didn't disappoint! Jackfruit's become an obsession of mine lately and it was so tender and the texture was pretty similar to the pulled pork it tries to emulate. My boyfriend got two of the recommended veggie options and I did 2 build your owns and we each got drinks - after tip it was only $33! We're from a pretty pricy area in northern Virginia so we really weren't expecting something so tasty to be pretty affordable. Looking forward to going back! read more

I live realy close to the downtown Condado and this one's my go to late night hangout. Of course you can customize your tacos but the ones on the menu are pretty amazing too. I have tried all of them on the menu I cant say I disliked any of them. But the 3 that are my favorites are ooey gooey, the mantis and the bubba kush. The tacos cost $3-5 apiece. This place is amazing. The customer service was fantastic. The vibe was super chill. The margaritas were superb! And the tacos? Forget about it. We got the blood orange margarita which was so good, the jalapeno margarita which was interesting but also good, the blackberry, prickly pear, and strawberry and they were all delicious. We got beef brisket tacos and the beef was so moist (yep said it) and sweet, the pollo wasn't bad, and the shrimp is cold but good too. I got cilantro lime aioli on two of mine and it is on point. If you go for happy hour, you get 1/2 off margaritas and $1 of tacos which are $3.50. Such a good deal and the food and drinks are so good and the service is the best I've seen in awhile. I've been to Condado's probably over 20+ times lol. So it's kind of surprising that I am finally dropping a review. But their food is pretty good. They do the Americanized tacos well. There is so many flavors in just one of their tacos. There is A LOT of different combinations to choose from, and none of which you can go wrong with. They have all the typical proteins: Chorizo, Brisket, Steak, Chicken, ect.. Everyone has strong flavor that doesn't get lost within the taco. Which is good because there can be a lot going on within every taco you make. There is also a lot of choices within Cheeses, tortillas, Sauces, Salsas. There are so many different items that you can make your tacos with its hard not to have a different variation of tacos every time you come in. I'm not sure if I have made the same taco twice since I've been coming toany of the Candado's locations. Also I'd like to throw in that I recommend that you start off with the queso. It's pretty good, it's nice and creamy and not too runny or too thick. I like getting it topped with Chorizo. The chorizo has a strong flavor and adds to the queso. Although I will say that their chips are a little on the greasy side. *Side note* Their margs taste like they dont have too much alcohol in them FYI* I love the way they set up their ordering system. When you sit down you will find menus on paper pads where you tear one off for yourself. There are pencils available so you can write your name on your menu and fill in the bubbles of what you want like those test everyone had to take in HS lol. Once you fill that out the waiter takes your menu and they prepare your food based on what you marked you wanted. It's simple but a pretty good idea and offers something different. I can say that I've never really had bad service at Condado before. Everything is normally pretty quick and you get everything you need. Every location of Condado is pretty colorful with art on the wall. It's a pretty hip vibe in there and they offer outside seating which is great. But be prepared to be sitting right next to strangers. You will have people right next to you because the tables are very long and you share the tables with everyone that comes. They do have a couple tables here and there that are separated and you won't have a stranger right beside you. But if you are socially comfortable it's not a big deal at all. Condado is very solid all around. This goes for all of their locations. If you're looking for good tacos, then don't waste time and go to the nearest one to you. I have not found one that I didn't like. Only leaving my review here because this is the last one that I've visited. 5 stars because they do everything well and nothing wrong. read more

It was a little hipster place close to our hotel. Overall I thought it was good. The menu was really confusing - they need to clean it up. Two menus you can write on plus other menus, it just needs to be streamlined. The guac was good, had a little zip. The chips were good - the salsa had to be requested which was weird. Create your own tacos start at $3.50 a taco, which seems reasonable until you see add $1 for rice, $1 for black beans, $1 to upgrade your shell, $5(!) for ghost pepper steak, etc. The add on prices are absurd. All of a sudden you have a $12 taco the same size as a Taco Bell taco. For that much I expect a full meal. If you're eating several, forget it. To get around that, I ordered a side of rice and a side of beans to just sprinkle on my tacos myself. The sides are about the size of a salad dressing cup, but had enough in them for my 2 tacos while saving a couple bucks. The brisket taco with the cilantro aioli I chose was ON POINT. I didn't care as much for the pulled pork option. I also had a banana margarita which tasted exactly like banana baby food, so take that as you will. I actually liked it. Happy Hour is only in the bar area, which sucks if you are at a table. I hate restaurants that have happy hour limited to one section of the place. Offer the specials to all your patrons who choose to give you their business over anywhere else they could go! Good, but not as good as the hype. read more

Tacos are my life and I think Condado does tacos really well! The ordering system is a little different: a pad of paper and a pencil and you bubble in, scantron-style, what you want on your taco. Start with your tortilla options, move on to meat, extras, salsas, cheeses, and sauces. Mr David and I started out with chips, guacamole, and salsa rojas. I was super impressed with the serving size of the guac and was surprised at the spice level; it definitely has a kick to it! Good thing I like it spicy, because I think some people could be put off by the spice. The rojas salsa was medium in spice and just a little smoky. The chips are incredible - thick and crispy with a delicious coarse salt. Luuuuuurved those chips. As far as tacos go, there are more tortilla choices than just your basic flour and corn - several of the other tortilla options come stuffed with queso, guac, chorizo, etc. Mr David tried the Peezler and JuJu and said he prefers the JuJu. I decided to stay basic and tried one flour and one corn. The corn tacos here are served crispy, which I don't prefer, so I am more likely to recommend the flour version. Our waitress highly recommended the brisket and chorizo. HOLY TACOS THE CHORIZO! The chorizo was perfectly spicy and juicy and oh my gosh I could have eaten a bowl of nothing but chorizo, it was just that good! I was less than impressed with the brisket as it was very difficult to eat (read: not very tender). Everything else that you could possibly want to add to a taco is available here, but shout out to the cilantro aioli for making my life better (and please send me the recipe!!!). Try to sit outside on the patio as it is beautiful and fun. The staff here really has customer service down to a science. Everyone we encountered was excited to give recommendations and seemed happy we were there. From reading other Yelp reviews, it seems like a lot of Yelpers have mentioned the volume of the music being too loud. I was able to have a conversation without yelling and never had trouble hearing. There are so many good things about this place! I have been twice and have always been warmly welcomed. You can pick from a standard menu or you can customize every detail of your taco... I recommend customizing. I really enjoy the pulled pork, the brisket is good, but the pork is the best; I really liked the shrimp ceviche as well, but the poor is still the best... my husband thoroughly enjoyed the thai chili tofu The only complaint is that you pay for chips and salsa - they're like $1.50, but still....it's the principle. The last time we were there, I am sure that our server was high... but who cares, he was uber nice and chill ;-) And they kitchen is open until 12AM during the week and 2AM on the weekends.. which is great for night owls such as myself. read more

Food came out really fast, then I found out why like previous comment cold tortilla, cold meat. I also believe they were a little stingy on the cilantro, order cilantro & onions. Got onions ONLY !!! Also has the bowl with rice, beans and brisket. I got flavorless beans, rice and some kind of shredded meat not sure what it was. Honestly chipotle is better I was very dissatisfied! menu is so confusing. What a waste of $67 including tip never again! There are better places for tacos in Columbus. The menu is a fill in the dot card, pick a shell, pick a protein, pick a cheese, pick your toppings and pick your sauce. I went with one shrimp ceviche taco on crispy corn tortilla (they dont offer soft corn which are my favorite) and one house chorizo taco on flour. I added almost all the toppings, queso fresco and one with mild sauce and one hot (which wasn'thit at all). The tacos were good but the chorizo taco was almost as cold as the ceviche taco and there was not alot of chorizo or shrimp, mostly slaw and toppings but still pretty good tacos ($3.50 each). The side of rice ($1) was a small cup of white rice and was well cooked, just had no flavor. I'd go back when they offer happy hour specials to try the other options. read more

Second location of super popular, hip taco joint. Not authentic tacos, but affordable and really really tasty. Create your own taco combos, or choose one of the curated selections. Check out the custom taco shells for an extra dollar; the Sweet Lucy is my favorite. Who doesn't love soft + crunchy + cheesy + guac? Best of all worlds, and really makes your taco more filling. All of the dips here are solid - guac and queso are perfect, and you get a basket of homemade chips with free refills. If you get chips and a fancy shell, you probably don't need more than one taco. They have a rotating seasonal protein and marg flavor, so you can get something new every time. Minus a star for their ridiculous amount of disposable tableware and how mind-numbingly loud it gets in here. Happy hour is 4-7 PM - half off margs and $1 off tacos. In my mind, this is the only time the margaritas are really worth it, as they aren't very strong. The flavors are fun though. This is in the bar area only, so be prepared to share a bunch of high top tables with your new best friends. I can walk away stuffed full of delicious flavors and several margaritas for less than $20, which makes this a bangin' happy hour in my book. The servers and hostess were all kind of awkward and weird. The margarita flight was the best part about our meal. So, we got a couple more margaritas and they took forever to come. Then they tasted really bad. Then the food came out after probably an hour. The chicken was extremely salty. The ground meat taco was meh. I would compare it to graduation party food. On top of all that it was $60+ meal. I would never go again. Bakersfield is light years better and around the same price. I would go there instead. read more

Some of the most flavorful tacos I've had and so thoughtfully wrapped in foil to prevent a mess. As a vegetarian I was extremely excited to see 2-3 veg options for tacos (aside from being able to build your own) and my lord that sauce is to die for! Definitely has a kick of spice and I loved it. The guac is good as well but the nacho platter is quite tasty, doesn't get soggy quickly so you have time to enjoy the flavors and your conversation.
