IM lovin the decors,minimal but elegant,one huge frame in the wall that is really attractive..red and black colored design,the tables are immaculately clean during my visit,it was a bit busy already but service is quick..most servers are bilingual and they are wearing a black shirt and pants as their uniform. This is probably one of my favourite chinese restaurants. Located inside the international village mall. My cousin recommended this place to me since she really loves the congee here. Service was okay, no rude waitress. CASH or DEBIT only! We (5ppl including me) ordered a lot this times since we are so hungry. here are what we ordered: * pork liver & meatball congee - good portion, generous toppings (aka meat), taste is really good * bbq duck - we ordered the plate portion, the dipping plum sauce is amazing! * deep fried silver fish - this is SO GOOD to eat with just white rice or the congee, I found the fish is bigger than other chinese congee places which might make the fish itself less crispy (but the taste good) * Sliced beef with vegetable chow mian - the noodle is crispy and they put the sautee beef and veggie on top, just okay in my opinion, but my parents love it so much! this one is like 2.5 ppl portion * I couldn't remember the name but it's steam broccoli and on the top, it has mushroom and deep fried japanese tofu , portion was so big good for sharing! taste is good I found this place is affordable and it is good especially if you eat with a group of people since you can order variety of dishes and share them. read more

With Congee Noodle house closed due to construction issues next door and so many Wonton restaurants going out of business from the owners retiring to other challenges and now this. Covid19. But before this, back in end of February when we all thought we were all safe, I was enjoying, really enjoying my bowl of Wonton Noodles with Siu Gao dumplings with some family. TBH, I did just get my tattoo done earlier and I was on a gummy that was medicating me more for the pain but the extra benefit to this was my postive upbeat attitude and everything tasted awesome. If only I could've stopped giggling. Suffice it to say, when I get the chance to come here again, after this craziness has come and gone. I really want to come back and get my bowl of wonton noodles with some house chow mein. Being stuck in the house has got me craving for this. ok so it's not really in a good part of town and sometimes this mall has some sketchy patrons, but ignore them. Think of congee and wonton. It's in a convenient location and had a comprehensive menu. If you want some good ol' Asian comfort food, definitely would recommend (even my mother, who definitely is not lenient when it comes to judging congee). The service was quick; however, it did take awhile to get seated due to the large influx of customers around 6PM. Overall the food was quite enjoyable - not too oily and definitely hits the spot on a rainy day. Plus the price was very reasonable and one bowl of congee is quite a lot! I actually split one with my mother and felt very content/ comfortably full at the end of the meal. We came around 11 am on Friday. Short wait. This is tucked into the west side of the mall right as you enter from Penderton. (So on your right) 4 stars for congee: I got the minced beef congee and my friend got the sliced beef congee. I also got the fried turnip cakes. Good congee flavor and texture. On the salty side. Huge bowl. I think another flavor would have been better: with salty egg maybe. It just lacked some kind of savoriness without it. The turnip cake was 3.5 stars. They give huge portions. This might be my new favourite restauraunt in the area. Located in the International Village Mall, this place is just a short trip from downtown Vancouver, or an even shorter trip from Gastown. The food is delicious, filling, and cheap. A big bowl of congee will run you about $6.50, and their side dishes such as steamed veggies or pan fried radish cakes are pretty hearty portions for around $5 more. For two people, a bowl of congee each and some steamed bok choy was more than enough food to make us stuffed. The bbq duck is rich and fatty and goes really well with the peanut, ginger, and green onion broth. Free parking for 2 hours is offered, and the space is larger than it looks from the mall. Service was surprisingly good for a small-ish chinese restauraunt, and our server was always around when we needed more napkins or wanted something else without making us feel rushed. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for comfort food at a reasonable price, or even just looking to try something new in the area. read more

Was truly missing HK style food and decided to try this place near work. Ordered the "四寶飯", rice with BBQ pork, Roasted Pork, chicken and salted egg. This is nostalgic as my parents used to order this a lot when we were growing up in HK. It was very tasty! One of the best I have tasted in Vancouver. Have been craving congee (Chinese porridge) since I had it almost everyday for breakfast during my visit to Taipei and even googled how to make it as it must be so simple to make rice soup broth when I came back as the trick is quadruple the water to rice ratio. I had to run an errand nearby and considering the day outside, I ordered their house seafood (prawn, scallop, squid & fish) congee special. It was good and I added their chili sauce to decrease the intense seafood flavor prob from the squid, think the seafood was previously frozen. The service is what you would expect as this is located inside a strip mall in Chinatown. It's an option for a rainy Vancouver day if you're not interested in making your own congee as I've heard it's easy and perhaps one day I will try. Fyi, they only accept debit or cash. read more

Congee Noodle Delight serves up excellent Congee! I find congee options to be a bit lacking in the Vancouver downtown area so I come here whenever I get the urges (only about 10-15 min walk from downtown core, also easily accessible by transit). My favourite congees on the menu are the sliced fish and house special (scallops, prawns, mushroom, squid). I come here once or twice per month and have never be disappointed with the quality of their congee. The service staff are also very friendly but the restaurant is located in the International Village mall that sits in a pretty seedy part of town (I have personally not had any problems though). read more

Comfort food times 10! My beef brisket and wonton noodles was simple perfection. Flavourful without being too salty; generous amount of meat; and a basic broth at a reasonable price. I added a Chinese donut which was the perfect add-on. I took home a salted fish and chicken, fried rice - a classic. It could have used more salted fish, but most restaurants are cheaping out on this ingredient. I'm taking away one star because they charge an extra $2.50 if you want a different noodle. It's an excessive charge considering other noodle houses give you a choice for free. Otherwise, I like this place and would definitely come back. read more

Then I get this plate of oily noodles with a few pieces of beef. I ask for the bill from two waitresses and took forever to get my change. Portions are actually just OK for price since most of it is made up of cheap carbs. Special Egg Foo Young ($14) -Menu doesn't say, but it contains BBQ pork slices and shrimp. -Shrimp were big. BBQ pork was tasteless. -Portion weak for $14 but you are probably paying for the shrimp. -I was initially told it was a mix of seafood and shellfish. It was NOT. And they did NOT give me the correct info until AFTER the dish arrived. WTH? BBQ Duck with Rice ($9 for big plate) -Waste of money. Duck had basically no meat, no tasty fat. You are just getting skin plus the rice it's sitting on. No.69 Hot Chili Minced Pork with Noodle ($7.50) -The menu says "Cold Meat" but the meat was hot. Huh? Still, the server insisted what he brought was correct. -Not spicy-hot at all. Sauce tasted like that tomato sauce from canned sardines. (No, I'm not joking). To make your food more palatable, use the condiments. I tried the reddish vinegar and the oily chili, which was weakly spicy-hot, so use lots to get any flavour going. Amazing surprise! I admit I know very little about congee but after walking through gastown on a cold evening this sounded appealing. The menu was a little overwhelming but I ordered the BBQ Duck Congee as well as the radish cake and sticky rice roll. The Duck congee was absolutely amazing! Warms up the soul and the Duck was very juicy, tender and full of flavor. This place probably isn't for everyone. I am not a fan of American style Chinese food. To be completely fair; I think you get what you pay for and CND is a pretty cheap place to have some classic chinese dishes. If you're looking for something that looks and tastes authentic, CND will fulfill your requirements and do it without breaking the bank (which is great!) That said: - The service is atrociously poor. I was one of perhaps 4 tables on a Wednesday afternoon and they still managed to take ages to take our order, or respond to requests for anything. - CND has an open kitchen concept where you can look into the kitchen and watch the magic happen; except in this case I literally watched them nuke the three dishes we asked for. It just strikes me as incredibly off putting to go to a restaurant with a full kitchen, only to have them use a microwave to make cold food edible (and dry). - There was a table that had sat down before us, and it took so long to get them their food that they left after my table had started eating. This is fine, sometimes things happen; but the attitude of the staff that this lady had slighted them by not paying for something she hadn't been served was galling. (Again, there were only 4 tables being served) So... I don't know, I think you can do better? Go upstairs to the food court, there's a chinese place there that's far superior. read more

I had an appointment nearby at the Work shop Salon so this place hit the spot with taste, price and speed of service. The wonton/beef tripe and noodles was ok. It tasted somewhat oily w possibly too much "flavour enhancer". The spring rolls were nice and crispy but the filling was a bit mushy and oily as well. Came here as a first-timer during a weekday night ~7p, there were a fair amount of people during what should be their dinner rush, and for a place like International Mall, you should expect a very oriental crowd. Everyone seemed happy and content however, signaling to me that this joint was an at least decent and comforting place. Either way, I ended up ordering the Seafood congee and my partner got the fish fillet congee, and we both shared an order of Roast Pork after being told they were out of Soy Chicken... They were also out of salty and sweet chinese donut ! How are you supposed to make congee a full meal without bread? I guess I will give them benefit of the doubt as it was getting later into the day ... : ) But ended up having nothing to pair my (lovely) hot soy milk with : ( Both bowls of congee were absolutely delightful. The broth was thick, warm and comforting and felt just like home. I suppose due to my choice of Seafood that they included a liberal amount of small slices of ginger into my bowl to counteract the fishiness that the fish, squid, scallop (?), and shrimp that might come from it. What I found was the ginger freshened up the bowl and there was no overly fishiness taste at all, and was very fresh. What was disappoint was that the fish fillet congee had no ginger. The pork belly was awesome and came with a generous serving that was tender and had a caramelized crispy skin that was mouth watering. All in all, a great place inside a decent location. There is probably better to be explored and delighted by Vancouver, but this has no trouble hitting the spot ! read more

This is located inside Tinseltown mall. I came here for dinner with a few friends of mine. Most of the menu was seafood and meat based, however, was able to find something for myself. Not a lot of vegetarian options. The menu doesn't disclose all the ingredients, therefore, if you have seafood allergies be careful. I've noticed that some of the dishes that came out for our table had shrimp in it even though the menu doesn't say that there is shrimp. It was the right order apparently but they don't tell you that they put shrimp in. Lots of seating inside, no real ambiance. The service was fast since it was only a few of us that day. The portions for what you pay was very decent. The price was cheap as well. Just a heads up that they're a cash only establishment. read more

We came here on a Sunday night and it was still quite busy. As others have mentioned this place offers comfort food. In doing so we orfered the wonton noodles with soup, beef brisket with soup and the deep fried chicken. The latter costed $13.50 for 12 pieces. For me anything deep fried is good. It was the garlic and chilli garnish that added a nice kick to the crispy chicken (see picture below). I just wished the beef brisket was more tender. The wonton was standard fair...ie comfort food.
