I received a personal pizza today and it was clear that someone ( I'm guessing the delivery driver) stuck his filthy hands in my pizza to grab a piece of sausage. The decor inside is quite unique, as it pays homage to the past, with a modern look. When you walk in, you are greeted by the host. The bar is to the left. If you're up for a beer, Connie's has 2 specialty beers produced for them. The wine list, choice of hard liquor, and cocktails is on par with the best restaurants. The pasta, pizza, appetizers, and desserts are all a cut above most places. The pizza crust may not be for all, but the ingredients make up for the thicker than average crust in their thin pizza. The spaghetti and meatballs is the best I've had, and I've eaten at dozens of Italian restaurants. For appetizers, I recommend the buffalo wings, which has some kick, but you won't need to call the fire department. If you want a more mild choice, the BBQ wings are great. The ranch is homemade, and better than anything in the supermarket. Also, try the lightly crispy calimari. Squeeze some lemon, and dip in the marinara. Yummy! Pizza wise, they have every possible choice you can imagine. Desserts are delicious too, if you have room. The icebox cake, tiramisu, and canolis are all scrumptious. Overall, with the food and service, you won't find too many places that do everything right, and if something isn't right, they make it right. My family has been going to Connie's on Archer for over 15 years. Any special occasion or event downtown and we would top it off with a trip to Connies. With the pandemic we haven't been there in years, but our first trip back was as amazing as it's always been. Edgar remembered us after all these years and makes you feel like old friends. Tonight we celebrated our 50th high school reunion here at Connies pizza. We are the class of 1972 from Saint Mary of perpetual help high school that resided on 32nd St. off of Morgan Avenue. Connies has been around as long as we've been in school actually longer. I just want to send a shout out to all the waite staff here at Connies to the chefs for the amazing and wonderful food it was phenomenal. But I want to send a huge shout out to Edgar the manager who made everything so accommodating and smooth for us and made sure that everything we needed was taken care of and just made this whole experience wonderful. Worst experience, I took my family there last month the waitress Astir I think that was her name she never introduced herself. She took our drink order I asked for a pitcher or Pepsi and a round of water for our family of 4, brought the pitcher back and 2 glasses of water. We order appetizers and asked for the remainder of our water. We bought a deep dish pizza no plates came out we had to ask for them. I order chicken vesuvio the breast meat was so dry I couldn't even bite into it, I left that behind. We had not been here in a long time and I am so glad we finally made it back. Connie's was a staple in my younger days. I am so glad it has not changed a bit. Service was friendly. Prices are fair, pizza and appetizers are so very good. Wine is reasonably priced as are draft beers. Plus they still have the "Connie's bread". When we come here we always order the minestrone soup French fries with house ranch. Btw this is the best dressing I had ever tasted. We get Connie's pizza delivered to the office all of the time and I really like it! It's higher quality pizza that can come thin crust, middle-crust, or deep dish crust style. My favorites are the margarita pizza and the chicken bbq. The pizza has a unique crust and loaded with cheese. They don't skimp out on the ingredients and it's good quality pizza that is filling. They make it really easy to order take-out/delivery. You're actually talking to a real person when you place your order without having to wait, which I appreciate. I wouldn't say this place is on the deep dish levels of Lou's, Giordano's, or Gino's East but it's pretty good. Definitely above the other national pizza chains like pizza hut. However, the prices can be very high. For the pizza itself the prices are ok since the pizza is so good, but we ordered a salad and appetizers and weren't too impressed. The appetizer to get is the mozzarella wedges, those are tasty! Don't get the chicken tenders, the tasted like they were frozen & microwaved. We ordered delivery today and while only being a couple miles away, the pizza wasn't warm. It tends to cool off pretty fast, but it's still tasty cold. I just enjoy a warmer pizza. I enjoy Connie's Pizza and have recommended everyone from relatives to co-workers to order from them when holding an event. My job, a non-profit, often uses Connie's to cater events for our students. Moving forward I'm afraid, I will not be ordering or recommending without sharing my experience. I live in an apartment complex and have deliveries of all kinds to my door frequently. However today, I was told by my Connie's driver on the phone as he arrived that "Connie's RULE is to NOT enter THIS complex" and I was told that I had to meet him at the entrance at the security booth. I explained that my apartment location is very far, too far in fact, to walk and I would have to start my car to pick up my order at the gate. I was told "That's the rule. Those other guys were breaking it". I had to get dressed, warm-up my car and DRIVE to pick up my pizza from the entrance gate. Maybe this RULE should be listed on your website so customers can be aware that they must participate in their own pizza delivery. I ordered delivery. They said it would be an hour. It was just shy of an hour and a half. We got a small thin crust cheese pizza with ricotta and a Special deep dish. The thin crust cheese pizza was ok. Frozen dough? Almost no sauce. Bland and cardboard-y. The deep dish was good. Lots of cheesy goodness and the crust was soft and crisp at the same time. Sausage chunks were very large but veggie balance made that ok. The cannoli wasn't filled all the way - empty in the center. The green powder on the ends with chunks of shell make it look like there are a lot more pistachios than there are. I'd skip them. Cheap and not worth the calories. Their pizza is hit or miss for me, much like their ability to give decent customer service when screwing up an order. Many of the restaurants I've experienced on the North side handle situations far differently than what I've come to notice down and around here. It's odd, more could be said, but I'll leave it there. I have a friend that lives within blocks and goes for their food often. She loves it but she also isn't a cook. I've only ever had their pizza carry out or delivery. Not their biggest fan. It's a combination of the thickness and the cheese, I'm not crazy about it unless it's offered as a free slice at a house party, then.. well, I may or may not eat it. I ordered a large original pan special par baked for carryout and it did not disappoint. The par baked pan pizza dough was super soft and barely cooked. The fresh toppings were all laid on top of the pizza. I followed the baking instructions on the box and the end result was probably the best carryout pizza we've ever had. The crust was perfectly cooked and crispy with a super soft interior. There's something about baking it fresh at home and eating it straight from the oven that made the pizza soooo good. My mom, who is a die-hard chicago deep dish fanatic, could not stop talking about how good the pizza was. We didn't even try the deep dish, but the original pan pizza had a very generous amount of crust to it (in a good way). I can't imagine how much thicker the deep dish could get. My parents were very impressed. The large original pan pizza cut into 8 slices fed 4 adults with no leftovers. It was the perfect size for a filling meal, but if you are looking to gorge yourselves, you might need to add an appetizer. I highly recommend the par baked original pan! read more
