I have always loved Connie's pizza and I'm so glad that they have a gluten free crust now. However, I was there over the weekend with my family and the service was HORRIBLE!! We ordered a kids meal and a few pizzas. The kids meal took over 30 minutes to come out and when it did come out, it got sent to the wrong table and our waitress didn't even do anything about it! When we asked her about the meal her response was that she had already put the order in. Little kids get hungry quickly and IMO their orders should be prioritized! It doesn't take that long to make some chicken nuggets! Then, once our pizzas came out the waitress didn't even bother to come check on us to see if we needed anything else. Our table ran out of drinks and the waitress was no where to be found. By the time she did check on us we had already finished our food. We were a large group so gratuity was already included. But, I don't feel she deserved this amount of gratuity. I've been going to Connie's pizza for 30 years and this was by far the worst service I've ever had! Out of towner (Houston) in for a weekend... I asked every Uber driver which deep dish pizza was good to get. Connie's was mentioned a few times and I did find it better than Lou Malnati's! Which was another pizza highly talked about. I really enjoyed the pizza but the calamari was less than desired... Lou's was waaaay better there. What a great Chicago establishment! The pizza is delicious, and surprisingly relatively affordable. The restaurant space is huge, but be warned, it gets busy on the weekends! The Sicilian is usually the best. Pricey pizza---DO NOT ORDER AFTER 9 pm. The order will say an hour and a half then it arrives in 35 minutes. Not cooked dough. Hardly any sauce or cheese and burnt. Happened to me 3 times. They will give you a coupon or trade pizzas. You must take photos. The second one will be good. It's the point. When you pay 40 dollars for pizza you want it right the first time. WE WOUKD RATHER WAIT FOR IT TO BE DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. We used to love this place. We celebrated countless birthdays, graduations, Sunday family dinners, etc. But I'm not sure what happened. The service decreased, the ingredients are definitely not the same. It had been a while so during the cold days we decided to order AND get delivery. No. Not doing that ever again. We had my daughters Bridal Shower at Connie's Pizza on Sunday 3/3, and it could not have gone better! Manager Julio and staff were awesome. They made this special and hectic day go off without a hitch. They accomodated everything I asked for, even moving tables at the last minute! I was born and raised in Chicago and I have not had Connies Pizza in Forever. So I ordered one. This was NOT the same pizza I remember as a youth or even a teen. Blah! Now I have had Connies at Concerts, United Center, etc. I thought maybe that was the cheaper/crappier version of the real Connies. I was wrong. This is just as bad as that stuff. I've had dinner here twice in the last few months. I really like the ambiance on weekday nights. It's always bustling with people but the wait is short. I love the way the building looks inside, it feels like you aren't in the city. On Mondays they have a special and if you tell the waiter about it the pizza is half off.. We knew this because we receive their emails. They have different types of pizza and we got the thin crust and a pan pizza. They were both really delicious. The think crust is not as thin as I would have expected and I liked it that way. They put warm bread on the table which was delicious. I really think all restaurants should take the time to warm the bread they serve. The tiramisu is good! And the servers look like they like their job! Very friendly and efficient. read more

I'm a born south sider who loves Connie's more then anything especially the bread ( yummy ) but since I've became an adult I've notice it had taken me almost 2 hours to be seated to just barely being served my food.Thats not including a "reservation" and that's if they take them anymore.be prepared to wait for at least 40 min before your seated.It took our waitress another 20 mins just to get our drink order.But that time your irritated and just want to eat but I kept my cool because I noticed another waitress come in and help so I assume our waitress was semi still new.I've been there done that so I know how it goes.By the time our food came out we devoured it so fast my kids literally ate everything! And thats not normal so I know they were starving. Went here with a crowd. Was told when I called that if you have 20 people now, you have to go with a group package that is $19.99 per adult and $7.99 per child. Crazy but that where we wanted to go. Ended up with salad, Pop and 5 Pizzas. Also ordered 2 Pictures of Beer. Got the bill and divided it up, told everyone what they owed and most of them left. When we went to pay the bill we were told it was the wrong bill. They gave us the right bill and it was $300.00 more. We have had more people at other times and had appetizers. We have NEVER had a bill for that amount. Everyone had left and I didnt have an extra 300.00 to pay. They did adjust it some but I still ended up paying quite a bit more. This in my eyes is unacceptable. We have always gone there with a crowd and will not anymore! Connie's is my favorite pizza in the city. I ordered it for delivery many times before going into the restaurant, and was really surprised at how interesting the place looked. Service was great. I wrote the following letter to the email listed in most of the negative reviews in an effort to give Connie's a chance to respond prior to posting my experience on Yelp. In light of the fact that it has been 5 solid days and I've gotten no response, it would appear that Connie's merely adds these to give the impression that they are concerned and interested in addressing the issues their customers have had. Mike, Connie@conniespizza.com My friend, her son and I visited your store for dinner on 11/18/14. I have waited two days to cool off before writing this email to you. I have been in the restaurant business for 20 years and this is the first time I've ever wanted to call the health department. I give leniency, knowing what's involved, too much leniency frequently. We had Jeneve as our server, no sense of urgency with that one. All of the tables around us, with the exception of one were already mid meal upon our seating. It took her 5 minutes to make her way over to our table and another ten before we got our drinks. We each ordered Connie's tortellini with chicken and broccoli. That arrived and we'd still not received our salads, we figured we'd just get them to go. As I took my first bite, I realized the sauce was fishy, my friend who is ALLERGIC to shellfish immediately said she tasted fish and stopped directly. Thank God, she only had a small taste or believe you me, I would've been on the phone with the health department as soon as the ambulance left. Jeneve, had to be flagged down and it seemed that she didn't know what to do about the situation. Again, no sense of urgency, nothing. Her first thought should have been get the dish off the table and get the manager ASAP. No, it was actually to tell us she'd have them re-make it. I ordered the same dish, friend ordered totally different pasta and sauce. Now, we get our salads and now the manager shows up. Explaining she'd been busy and couldn't come over sooner. Had it been a more severe allergic reaction, I really question whether or not she would've shown up any sooner. I didn't catch her name, but she did share with us that sometimes the kitchen will cross use a pan after having shrimp in it! WOW, she DID just say that! She expressed her apologies and never bothered to come back after our new dishes arrived, great way to further add to a disaster. Our new dishes were watery, and worthless. Final nail in the coffin, the bill arrives and I find I've been over charged for my wine. Normally, a dollar wouldn't matter, but right now I'm about to flip. It was all I could do to stay seated and not just walk out the door. I ordered a pinot grigio, there's only one option on your drink menu, I assume that's the one I'm going to get. . Menu price is $8, I'm charged $9. Jeneve's excuse is that the one I got is better anyway, but just take the dollar off the bill myself. You would think after all of our experience this girl would have an apology in her pocket and NOT an attitude. I tried tracking down a manager upon our departure, she was no where to be seen. Probably the best thing, as again, I cannot wrap my head around a restaurant that has staff that has the least amount of concern in a situation that could have gone so very wrong. Cross-contamination is a dangerous issue! No one seemed to be to concerned, that's another issue. We live in Bridgeport. We will not be back. We will tell our friends of our experience, it's too outrageous not to. I order two pizza's a month and have a VIPP card with you. I'll be ordering from somewhere else. The food was actually good! Went in for the monday night pizza special. The carry out part was pretty empty but, unfortunately it took another 20 minutes for our pizza to come out, and in addition the red hed was not all that friendly (slamming pizza boxes on the counter, very short with customers, etc) the other young lady was really nice though, until she charged me the regular price for calamari even though they had a SPECIAL going on. Being new to Chicago and seeing people in my building order Connie's Pizza we thought we would give it a try. It took an hour and a half for delivery so by the time that it came we were starving. One of the worst pizzas I have ever eaten and very expensive. We ordered a large but it looked like a medium. You know how some waiter make you feel rushed if you have been taking up the table for too long after you finish eating? That's how we were treated right after we sit down. We order 3 different pasta. We didn't know what we want so we ask for more time but one of our friends was hungry so she put her order in first, about 5 minutes before place our. Well her food came out in a timely fashion but the other 2 pasta dishes took almost an hour to come out. The two pasta only come out at our prompting requesting them to put it in a to go box because we simply no longer have time, nor any inclination, to finish our dinner at the restaurant. At one point when we inquire the waiter about our missing 2 pasta dishes he informed us that it took a long time because it's pasta. Be careful when you place an order online. Connie's changed their policy on online ordering. I placed an order online & went to the Archer location to pickup my order. I was told that I should have received a confirmation email, once the email is received I should call the location to verify my order. What's the point of ordering online? Last visit was so awesome that we decided to come back for another weekday dinner date. Not sure what happened, but the pizza we ordered was not consistent as our previous experience.
