This is my favorite cafe to frequent in the rare occurrence I am in the Orange area. The cafe has such a cute, hipster vibe to it and has a large variety of drinks from coffee on tap to fruity, refreshing teas. The menu is also very creative and fun to explore as you decide which drink you want to try. A unique aspect of this cafe would be the option to try our flights of different drinks. I decided to try the kuya latte which was a mix of ube and espresso with oat milk. The drink was so creamy with the ube flavors mixing well with the creaminess of the oat milk. I will definitely try this drink again. There were plenty of tables available on a Friday morning, and i love the decorated interior of art and murals on the walls. I'm very happy to report that after years of having Contra bookmarked it did not disappoint. Contra not only offers a super unique welcoming vibe, but also super relaxed to just hang. Unfortunately the day that I visited I couldn't stay a while but when I was waiting on my drink I was able to soak in the unique atmosphere. I loved that they have a room sections off for vintage items that can be purchased, it had items from 90s Levi's to vintage Disney items and all great priced I landed on the espresso matcha per the employee who was working through register at the time, he was super friendly with his suggestions and offered his fav picks. It was crowded the day that I went so seats were pretty limited. The shop itself is super cute, there is a stationary and vinyl store in the back too! Lines can get long, but drinks come out pretty fast. Now, the real deal. How does the drink taste? In my book most of the drinks tasted amazing. They honestly looked underwhelming at first, but tasted really delicious. We ordered a flight (comes with 4 drinks of choice) and also 3 regular drinks. Flight flavors: dirty horchata, love birds, derozan, princess daisy - Dirty Horchata 3.5/5: my aunt enjoyed this drink, but it was not my cup of tea since it was cinnamon. The espresso was not that prominent - love bird 4/5: loved this! Would def try it again as a full size drink. Was not too sweet or too bitter. Had a light oolong flavor. Reminded me of milo milo. - derozan 3.5/5: I liked this, but it may be not everyone type. Has a strong black tea flavor, leaves a bitter after taste. However, I did like that the fruit flavor was still stand out. - princess daisy 4.5/5: loved this!! One of the cutest coffee shops in OC! I came by on a gloomy Sunday and it was filled with people studying. Luckily they have a bunch of seating so my boyfriend and I were able to easily find a spot. We stopped by Contra late in the evening. The shop has a stationary and another store in the back, which I thought was cool, but they were closed when we got there. There are also some books on the wall. There are quite a few tables, so we stayed to study. However, the music was really loud so it was hard to focus. There was also live music when we came, and I think we just happened to come during an event. It was pretty distracting for me, as I came with the intent of quiet study. Maybe I came at a bad time, but I felt like this was not the place for that. Service was ok, they seemed a bit distracted from chatting with each other. Really cute and unique concept for a coffee shop, with a bunch of different drinks on tap. There is ample seating, fast wifi, and bathrooms! Parking can be difficult in Old Towne Orange, but there is always something even if you have to walk a little bit. The strawberry matcha ("Strawberry Fields") was unique and like nothing I've ever had before! Instead of a strawberry compote, there is a layer of strawberry milk foam at the top of the matcha latte. Visited Contra for the first time a few weeks ago with some old friends who drove from Long Beach. We chose Contra as a meeting spot based on the great Yelp reviews. We were not let down. I walked in and fell in love with the vibe: lots of natural light, minimalist ambiance, sweet staff. There are so many tasty options for drinks, I was pleasantly overwhelmed at first: coffee-based, matcha, thai tea, fruity combinations galore. These are beautiful, instagram-worthy drinks. I have a feeling you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Honestly, this being my first visit to Contra, my only complaint is some of the regular customers can be a bit aggressive about seating. This is one of those coffee houses where students will park themselves in a seat for hours to study. Hours. So even though Contra has done a great job at providing seating, seats become scarce quickly. My friends and I hadn't seen each other in months so we were looking forward to catching up. There was one table open when we got there, which we were lucky to grab. Chatting with dear friends at a coffee house... nothing is better, right? Well, about 45 minutes in, we're deep in conversation. One those friend chats where you're so absorbed that you're sharing really vulnerable, personal things, kind of leaning in with your quiet voice because you're in a public space.... when a college-aged guy comes up to our table and boldly says: "Excuse me. Are you leaving soon?" I'm a little dumbfounded by his question. We were in the middle of talking about some deep/friendship/life topics, it couldn't have appeared to him like we were packing up or anything. I look at my friends (this is our first time at Contra) and we suddenly feel pressured to leave. It's odd because I look at other tables and see a lot of the same students studying as when we arrived. The college guy who wants us to leave has two friends with him with their laptops. They want our table so they can study. Feeling uncomfortable, we decide to just leave. So yeah, my hot take: if you're meeting friends here, perhaps just get your drinks to-go? Seating is iffy, and can get territorial with the college students. Though I loved the drinks and ambiance, being asked to leave was a bit awkward. If we were there for 3 hours, I might understand someone asking us if we could vacate so others could sit down, but having people imply you should leave after less than an hour felt very uncomfortable. But other than that, the drinks are beautiful and delicious, the decor is lovely, and the staff...and I can't stress this enough... the staff are wonderful and so helpful. I just wish they could have saved me from that socially-aggressive college-boy. On the other hand, I'm a 28-year old woman, and I should be able to say no to such social micro-aggressions. I should have said to him: "Actually, this is our first time here. My friends drove all the way from Long Beach to be here. We have no current plans to leave our seats" without feeling any guilt as they hovered nearby. But alas, like many women, I'm programmed to try to please others (I bet that boy knew that), so I let him win, even though we had no plans to leave, I said: "Oh. Yeah, ok. I guess we've been here long enough. We can leave soon." I caved. Let's end this on a high note: I highly recommend their Strawberry Swing Green Tea! Refreshing! read more

This cafe is the perfect place to get some work done or chat with friends. I love that it's located in the Orange Circle since it's walkable and near so many other stores. Parking is a little tricky right near the cafe, so I'd recommend just parking in the free structure nearby and walking the 10 minutes to get here. There's free wifi, outlets, and natural sunlight, but it's always busy so it might be tricky getting a seat for more than one person. My friend and I tried out the flight (11$), where we picked any 4 of the drinks off the left menu. The Princess Daisy (mango passion fruit green tea) and Strawberry Swing (strawberry green tea) were the two fruit teas we tried, and they were so good. I highly recommend Princess Daisy, since you get the nice balance of tea flavor and fruit. Lovebirds (coffee oolong milk tea) was pretty solid. Gold rush (viet coffee) was ... not good LOL. But it's okay, glad we had the chance to try out a variety! I also grabbed a strawberry fields, which had a strawberry cream foam on top of the matcha, which was super refreshing. I can't say that it was worth the wait Ambiance- it has a nice vibe with a lot of seating area and pretty eclectic music. Service- service was courteous, not overly enthusiastic but sort of neutral and balanced Food- this is where it gets the lowest marks. They don't prepare your drinks on the spot. All of the drinks in the menu are premade. They serve them to you from a dispenser attached to the wall. We bought two drinks, one with Matcha, the other one with Vietnamese coffee. Both of them had a weird aftertaste, similar to when you leave a drink in the refrigerator for too long and exposed. I guess I'll keep going to Urth Caffe for that unbeatable, freshly made taste. read more

I had the Derozan (lychee rose black tea) after lunch at Euro Caffe. It tasted refreshing and met my expectations of a good drink. I had the $5.65 option since the $4.85 cup looked too small for me. We arrived and found the cafe busy and full, but we didn't wait in line for long. The ambience was vibrant at the time as people stayed inside to avoid the rain. Not affecting this review's rating, but when I walked back to my car, my hands got really cold holding my drink due to the winter rainy weather. read more

YES! I have finally found a new favorite coffee place in the city of Orange. Its funny that this place has been around for years but I barely stumbled upon it because I happened to be walking my dog in the Circle and went down a street I have never walked down before. It is a bit of a hidden gem. My Goldendoodle, Java Bean, loved being in the store. He was constantly get requests for people to pet him which he parlayed in to hugs. The coffee is delicious! I had the Perfect Night. It is a delight for the eyes as well as the tastebuds. They also have these donuts that are pretty tasty. The dough is similar to a Krispy Kreme donut in texture. The ambiance is nice. There are chairs and tables as well as couches. They have artwork on the walls and I think they sell paper goods as well if you go to the back of the store. Its large enough that a little kid could probably wander around in while you enjoy a break from life's chaos. read more

I came here for the flights and I was not disappointed. I loved the fact that I can choose coffee and tea and their menu to choose from was a good amount. I had a hard time deciding because the flavor combinations were so good and very unique. Flights were $11 and I got there pretty early which is way better because I got to sit on a cute little couch and just enjoy my drinks. It definitely got busy maybe 30 min later. You are also able to adjust your drinks and there's even a sign up front to not hesitate to ask for drink adjustments. I told him I don't want my coffee too strong. There's another place I go to for flights and they said they can't adjust it at all. I would definitely come back here again. Also when they make the drinks, it looks like a bar where they pull the handle to pour beer so that makes this place very different. There's not too much seating for large groups, but thankfully, my coworkers were able to find seats. It is a bit loud in here for working, but I found myself enjoying their playlist! What a GEM! I am totally in love with Contra!!! It is located in Old Town Orange, there is street parking as well as a parking lot across the street. Restroom is in the back and requires a key. The ambiance in Contra is very comfy, warm and inviting!!! The few times I've visited, there is always a line which is a good sign and the line is worth the wait. Customer service is always friendly, turn around time to get your goodies it not long at all. I absolutely love that they have plenty of good options which include a coffee flight which is hard to find. Foxie is my fave as well as Daisy.
