My wife and I have been there before and it was ok. On today's visit I ordered a double without cheese and my wife ordered a single with cheddar cheese. The burgers we received today were pitiful; imagine two Krystal burgers pattys, one on top of the other but round. That describes the size of my burger today. My wife's was like a single Krystal burger rounded. She was able to tear off an entire inch of bun around the circumference of the burger. And to top it off, her burger had a nickel sized hole in the middle. Utterly ridiculous. Eat there if you don't mind getting 1/4 of what you pay for. read more

I don't like giving five stars based on a single visit but I was IMPRESSED! First, when I told the attendant I'd need a few minutes because it was my first time there, he walked me through my options very clearly -- and patiently. Second, the burger was quite good: hot and fresh, with fresh condiments including leaf lettuce, a slice of tomato, cheese and mustard. Third, (while I'm certainly no expert), the hushpuppies were the best I've had. I don't live in the South but we recently visited Hilton Head, Savannah and Charleston, sampled hush puppies in all locations, and the Cook Out's were THE BEST by far. From a fast-food joint; who knew? Last -- and this is my only criticism -- the cole slaw (my second of two sides) could have used more vinegar bite. It was pretty bland. I get so excited everytime I visit Richmond/Bowling Green and get to go here. Instead of wondering what you want to eat and where you'll get it from, you can go to Cook Out and they'll more than likely have it. The menu is HUGE...a little overwhelming, in fact. Apparently this place is famous for its milkshakes, and I can see why - 42 flavors you can choose from, not even slightly exagerrating.. I ordered the cajun chicken sandwich with fries and chicken nuggets. And let's be honest, the main reason Cook Out won me over is because you can order chicken nuggets as a side...YAS. The sandwich was pretty good, and had a good kick of spice to it. Overall, they just have a lot more selection than your average fast food joint. We just came here last week for the first time and loved it. We had been craving a good cheeseburger and fries. I see this as a higher quality fast food restaurant with typical fast food, or lower, pricing. The burgers REALLY taste like they came from your dad's grill. They have 4 different types of burger sizes, from regular to huge. The huge burger is 2 of their biggest patties on one sandwich. If you get cheese, the cheese is always melting!!! It's so wonderful. Their hot dogs are also amazing. It tastes like a high quality dog, and it's price is also extremely competitive. One thing I'm going to spend a lot of time talking about is their cookout rounds. I am positively in love with these. They are hashrounds with cheese inside!!! Yes, it is as good as you think it is. Dipped in ketchup, or eaten without sauce yield the same result; a blissful experience for your taste buds. One can get a meal here for under 6 bucks a person if done correctly. I would give anything for Cookout to come to Wisconsin. When I'm in an area where there is a Cookout there is a 100% chance I'm going to go there. I've now been to Cookouts in 4 different states, this makes me a king of lowbrow eating. As always, the menu is vast, and I have a family of 4 that I'm eating with, so we sampled many different items from the menu. Service was incredibly friendly and totally correct, and our order had a high degree of difficulty. Top notch menu items include the onion rings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks(!) and of course, you must upgrade to a shake. I had the chocolate peanut butter. And I actually prefer Backyard Burger. If you've never been to Cook Out, don't go through the drive thru. The menu is big and confusing. You need to decide before you get to the speaker, because otherwise you'll feel rushed. You get two sides with your sandwich. I got fries and onion rings. They gave me 3 onion rings. I have been to several Cookout locations, both in North Carolina and here in KY, and it is the best burger place on the east! Great value, phenomenal burger. i love how all the toppings are fresh and free. I also love how you can get a Bacon Roll-up.. as a side! and I always get it with Cheerwine.. it's the best cherry cola I have ever had, and a bit of an obsession. A meal is only 4.99.
