I don't know if I went on a bad day or what. The place smelled awful. Like when you go to a restaurant and the grease trap needs cleaning or they have an issue with their bathroom. When I opened my box of cookies, it had the same funky smell. I walked in and got half a dozen just to try. Good price, it was $9 and some change. Trust me, that's a good price. These are all big, soft cookies. Chocolate chip - a little too sweet but a standard chocolate chip Cookie Monster - they looked nothing like what you see pictured online. They are a blue dyed sugar based cookie with white chips I think. Tasted better than the standard chocolate chip and had the bonus of dying your tongue blue. Lemon - the icing on this cookie is nice and lemony, the cookie itself was good. White chocolate chip - sweeter than the Cookie Monster, but seem to be the same bookie base. The Cookie Monster tastes different because of the blue dye. I'd buy these again if I wanted cookies and didn't want to make them myself. The price is good, and they aren't a bad cookie. Crumbl cookies is down the street and those cookies are terrible, overpriced, and all sugar. The Cookie Broker's cookies are better. read more

I wanted to do something for my staff to kick off a new year. Someone recommended Cookie Brokers. After a quick look at Yelp and their website, I placed an order via email. The response from Gilbert, the owner, was extremely quick. I sent him our logo and colors. He took it from there. He made ordering easy. You pay online in advance which kept me from having to make a trip and go inside. When I picked the cookies up, I couldn't have been more pleased. They were absolutely stunning. The logo and colors were spot on. I hadn't even tried one and they already exceeded my expectations. As I requested, he put two in a cellophane bag and closed each up with a ribbon. I sent these to my employees on Wednesday for a Zoom meeting on Monday. Every employee said they were delicious and still fresh. When two packages got lost in transit, he helped me get them replaced right away. Cookie Brokers is a small family run business which is all the more reason to support this them. I initially came in to get six cookies but ended up getting a dozen because, let's face it who could resist the display case of soft fresh baked cookies? Oh and if you have a dog too? They got fresh cookies for them as well in a bag to take home! My dog loves pumpkin flavored treats they also had peanut butter but I knew I had to get her the pumpkin. The guy that was helping me also let me know that they were safe for human consumption as well, but I got them for her so ill pass. The flavors that I ordered were chocolate chip, peanut butter stuffed, lemon, and carrot cake. All of them were amazingly good. I also wanted to try two of their bars that they had. I ordered a s'mores and a lemon bar both were really good. I'm not so much a lemon fan but I did like the bar. The s'mores was really good too but very very sweet and rich so make sure you have something to drink with it. It's definitely worth a try if you're around the area. The concept is pretty simple and straight forward. Homemade cookies and cookie bars for sale in a beautifully renovated space on Grand Avenue. As I write this, Cookie Brokers has been open for barely a week so it will be interesting to see how this new addition progresses. With Grand Avenue dessert icons Treehouse Bakery and Novel Ice Cream nearby, is there room for another diehard dessert spot in this neighborhood? I stopped in on a Saturday mid afternoon. You'll find Cookie Brokers just a block south of Roosevelt Street on the west side of Grand Avenue. The interior of the building can seat about 30 with a prominent wall mural adorning the interior. The mural of a cookie baker stealing a bite for himself will catch your eye as soon as you walk in. Over on the west side of the interior you'll find the menu and pricing breakdown. But you'll want to stare long and hard at the dessert case where the cookies are lined up to tempt your palate. You've got your chocolate chips, your M&Ms, your peanut butter, among others. But for my first go I decided to take a gamble on the cookie bars. Specifically the S'mores Bar and the Magic Bar. The S'mores bar is exactly what you'd expect. Cookie dough topped with chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow all mixed into a gooey bar for consumption. The Magic bar is a coconut bar with chunks of chocolate and peanut butter mixed in. Total cost for the two cookie bars including tax came to $6. Both bars were pretty solid and the S'mores bar stood out in particular for stuffing as much s'mores goodness as they did into a bar almost an inch thick. In addition to being entrepreneurial cookie makers, the owners here have a goal to make enough money such that they can eventually contribute a portion of every cookie sale to a non-profit called PICK (Phoenix Inner City Kids). For now, proceeds from every Cookie Brokers t-shirt go to PICK. I genuinely hope they reach this goal. For now I'm hopeful but mostly taking a wait and see approach with this new neighbor. The cookies are good, but I'd like to see a little more variety in their offerings. The space itself is beautiful and a great place to congregate so hopefully their menu will be equal to the task. If nothing else, Cookie Brokers is a great spot for a quick cookie fix or to round up a huge batch for takeout. And I mean, who can say no to cookies? read more

Some of the images were complex and I wasn't sure how they would turn out but I had nothing to worry about.
