We are so excited for this Copper and Sage location in Goodyear Arizona. It is so cool that the Goodyear city Square has now incorporated some restaurants. We have eaten at the Phoenix location and enjoyed the experience. I cannot wait until the weather goes down and we can sit in their outdoor patio. Our server Michelle was excellent. We enjoyed the drinks, including the holy water, which is very different. A coffee drink that is clear. The crispy chicken sandwich was delicious. We started with the pickles and pimento, which was very unique and great. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Our friends enjoyed the catfish Poboy and the Smashburger. I shared the kale salad although I did not enjoy it. The kale was very large and the dressing was a little on the spicy side for me, but my friend loved it and she wants to come get it again. Have been here already 3 times since it opened. The appetizer list is one of the best of any restaurant. The devil eggs, wonderful. The fried green tomatoes,excellent. The pickles and pimento, bacon wrapped dates, and chicken wings are all delicious. The schrimp and grits entree and Nashville hot chicken were both very good. We tried Copper & Sage for the second time (this past Saturday night) and had a much better experience. We were seated in the main area (not the Jade Room as before), which was hands down, much easier to hold a conversation. Maddi, our server was quite pleasant. She was very engaging; attentive, yet not overly so - and checked in on us at the just the right time, every time. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were very flavorful, and would have been outstanding, had they been served hotter, as they came to us only warm; however, the cracked pepper chevre and balsamic reduction really make this appetizer sing. I had the Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay which is always consistent. My husband ordered the C&S Old Fashioned and said it was "over the top," best he has ever had. Once again, the scallops were a winner: served piping hot and tender, with a very nice sear on top, and had a wonderful, sweet flavor. The charred corn was a bit too smoky for my taste; however, the parmesan risotto was very creamy and the flavor was "spot on." My husband had the NY Strip and was very pleased. He said it was done to perfection and the flavor was excellent. The Manager, Dan checked on us a couple of times, which was a very nice touch. Ordered the deviled eggs. The flavor was good until I started chewing on egg shell. Ordered the $50 wagyu short rib and it just tasted like a cheap roast. They had shaved leek on top of it that was inedible, it was the consistency of straw. Also ordered the hot chicken sandwich, it had no flavor or any spice at all and the coleslaw was cabbage and vinegar, it was so bland. The server was great but the food was terrible. Great location in casual setting with premium cloth napkins, heavy silverware and stylish glassware . Extensive drink menu. Not sure about the menu but definitely glad it was unique to the area. Focused on the south with a new orleans flaire of catfish po'boys, deep fried wallieye and fries, deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, etc. with few healthy options. My tagaliatelle was plentiful with homemade pasta in a creme sauce but it arrived warm at best. Ambiance is nice, the service was awful and the food was mediocre. Our server Zayna was terrible she barely came to our table although she seemed to be pretty attentive to the couple at the table in front of us. We had to flag down the server from the table next to us for water and multiple other requests and ended up tipping her instead of our server as she did considerably more work. I've only been three times, so . . . The food was good and mostly (and nicely) made on-site, the service was excellent throughout. The menu is not adventurous but it's solid and reliable. The drinks were good but on the expensive end of pricing. And where such pricing is justifiable in a destination high-end resort, that's not happening in Goodyear or this establishment. Not bad! Came with a friend who had scallops and I had the wagyu braised short rib and both were pretty decent. My dish could have used a tad more salt while the scallops could have used a tad less. Returned the next night for date night with the hubs and he had fish and ships and would try something else next time. Sad to see all the Karen's leaving reviews on this place- we are lucky to finally have a nice establishment in the hell of Goodyear Arizona and this place has a GREAT ambiance (sorry it's not Applebees Karen) and awesome music, great bar with fabulous drink selections, and a pretty eclectic menu. I don't know another place around here I can get catfish or scallops or beignets without going to Scottsdale. You all need to lighten up. Service was great, everyone was very nice, food came at a decent time (again, not McDonald's where you'll be served in 10 seconds) and it's in a FABULOUS area. Awesome for date night. Service was exceptionally slow. We were initially going to patronize Overeasy next door, but they had a 1 hour wait for the patio. We were quoted 15 min for seating and it actually took 25, not too bad. We were sat and not attended for almost 25 minutes. We ordered drinks and they took almost 15-20 minutes to come out. Our food took an additional 20-30 minutes to come out. It was difficult to get staff attention. We overheard apologies to the table next to us for running out of several food items. General management and organization was lacking. December our waitress was nice and was obviously frustrating with the state of everything. Food quality was pretty good once it was served, but the wait detracted from that. read more

Hoping after a few months this will get better. A lot better. Completely disappointed at the overall experience for brunch, from walking in to paying the check. Music & ambience - upon walking in the staff seemed overall confused, like they have weren't sure how to seat a group of 5, not 4 not 6. Music was "different", modern jazz hip hop techno?! and a bit loud. We went to check seating outside and the music was WAY too loud. Seated in the front room, the echo chamber or fishbowl? The entire room is hard surfaces, floor, walls, glass, ceiling etc. wasn't fun carrying on a conversation. Front of room is all windows and this morning it was blinding, shades or tint? Wall to the entrance area is all windows. If u use it as a private rm, it's not private, no blinds, you'd be in a fishbowl. Asked about the GIANT TV in the room, server came back with, no, it's a screen saver. ? We thought the server seemed as new, as in never ever had served before. Walked away and then came back to confirm order and had it wrong. From placing the order to food arriving = 40 min if not longer. The Big Ass Mimosa was teenie tiny and for that price?!?! not again. About 1/3 of the fill on their website. :-( The food was medimediocre at best. Not enough gravy to even cover biscuits, maybe 2 tablespoons. The "cajun" gravy was tasteless, flour and water. It was hard to find the avocado on the avocado toast, lots of greens though haha. The potatoes were super super salty. Many times the staff came by to check but never took empty plates etc. We, 4 of us, even tried calling them back but they just keep walking. Crab cakes had way more filler than anything, not much crab in those cakes. Oh, and the eggs. Eggs over easy?! That you could pick up the yolk with a fork with no runny egg, more like over cooked. HERE'S THE KICKER! Got the bill $130, put in $90 cash and card to split. Server pocketed cash and tried to charge everything on card. We called server back, "oh, i just thought you were really really generous." Are u fricking kidding me?!?!? Not even the slightest bit apologetic. It will be awhile before we are back. read more

My wife and I went to Copper and Sage for a date night recently and had a lovely time. We had a few appetizers - but by far our favorite was the friend green tomatoes. YUM! For dinner we had the Tagliatelle and the chicken sandwich, which were both excellent. Cooked well and very flavorful. The ambiance was great - we had a nice romantic evening and even on the patio (which is HUGE!) during a hot evening the weather was perfect. The staff up front was very nice and welcoming, our server seemed to be new so was very patient, but later found out our food order was "glitched" and waited over 30 minutes while other customers were served. Appetizers ordered and delivered pretty quick, but downhill from there. Dinner order and we waited, waited and waited. Inquired a couple of times and told it was coming. Mind you other tables around us came after us and received their food. Manager just came over to apologize. Food finally came, it was good, but not worth the wait. Overall environment was quite noisy, hard to have a conversation at our table. Total time in there was over 2 hours, and again they were busy, but not that busy. Big miss on trying to make anything right by server, especially being first night and getting the right impression out there for the community. Passing on my experience on with friends and family as I wouldn't want them to go through the experience I did. Took 30 minutes to get our adult beverages from our server (the bartender). Manager on duty did give us water and take out order at approximately the 20 minute mark, when our food came only thing 'hot' were the potatoes, eggs were missing the cheese she specifically asked if we wanted and the biscuits were fully crunchy- even where the gravy had been sitting for some time. The only quick service we received was when he cleared our plates and immediately brought the bill. Upon receipt, we asked for a review card and he stated he could get the manager. When she arrived, we explained above and included the cheese 'upgrade' to our eggs which we had been charged for but not received. Her only response was he had an eight and thirteen table to prep drinks for at the same time as us, hence she herself had taken our orders and since we had already paid she could offer us coupons for next time. We politely declined and stated there would be no next time due to above and she said well you should have sent the food back to which we explained no thanks, we were starving and had already waited so long (note, the drinks came out 2 minutes before our lukewarm food) and did not wish to receive spit in or otherwise desteoyed food or wait again even longer. Her response was if course we dont do that here but I see your point of the wait and hunger, would you like the coupons for next time? No thanks. Will not return. read more

We enjoyed the Romaine salad, Hot Chicken with beignets, pan-seared scallops, and Butterscotch Torte--all outstanding. The cozy ambiance made for a relaxing dining experience, and we felt comfortable settling in for a while. Our server, Ayla, was incredibly personable and amicable, adding to the evening's enjoyment. About 10 friends and I came in for a friends birthday party and we did not have great service. First of all, the charcuterie board was beyond disappointing even besides the fact that ours had mold on it. Our server Mariah was not very friendly either. We all work in the industry so we know how it can be sometimes but her service was not good. Our food and drinks were extremely slow without even one apology for the long wait time. One of us ordered a mezcal tequila/soda and she (without even asking or mentioning an upcharge) charged for the most expensive tequila on their menu. There were 3 tequilas below that she could have charged for or at least asked. Overall, not the greatest experience. The manager and the ambiance were both very nice but that is really the only good thing I can say about this restaurant. read more

There are not many places that I would just go out of my way to leave a review for, however, I feel the need to leave one tonight. Tonight my wife and I wanted to go out for our anniversary dinner and to a place that we have never been before so my wife recommended Copper & Sage. It was easy enough to make a reservation online. Once we got there, the greeters were present friendly and prompt. Our server Maddie greeted us within seconds and was very friendly. Without any questions or hesitation, she automatically said ohh happy anniversary! That was great to hear! She then asked if we have been there and we said no, so she then suggested multiple different options for both food and drinks! She was knowledgeable, personable and very friendly! The manager also came over and made sure all was great! They even provided us with a delicious dessert packed full of different flavors! First time trying this restaurant and was excited to try the food. Very disappointed. We arrived after the normal lunch rush (maybe around 2pm) it was not extremely busy, so we got in right away. The hostess was friendly and she accommodated our request for a quieter table. The server was very nice and accommodating, so A for service. I ordered the burger and my husband got the fish and chips. I also got iced tea, which looked like colored water with an unusual taste. I found out that it is earl gray tea, not normal black tea--not impressed. The fish and chips were very disappointing, especially for $27. The portion was large, but the fish had no taste and was overcooked. The hamburger was equally unimpressive. It had something stringy on it, I assumed it was onion, but no flavor so not sure. I prefer dill pickle on my hamburger and it came with, which I assume was bread and butter pickles (slightly sweet), which I removed. The tomato slice was small and mushy, and the lettuce was wimpy, like butter lettuce, not iceberg. As for the fries, I read comment about the great garlic fries, which both my husband and I got. They definitely did not taste like garlic fries and had no crunch to them, like they had been sitting for awhile. A friend got the crabcakes and said they were good. We really wanted to like this place, but with all the great restaurants coming to town, you had better step up the quality of your food! read more

We went for dinner tonight. The food was awful - absolutely awful!! The New York steak was more than 50% fat. Disgusting. They took it off our bill but I would rather pay for it and get a nice New York steak!! The fried green tomatoes were all panko crust - not sure if there were any tomatoes slices inside the panko crust. The crab cakes were so bad. Must have been made with canned crab. Super loud in the restaurant- could not even hear the person sitting across the table. Our server was very very very nice. But the food was so bad, we will not be going back. read more

My husband and I had a later lunch at Copper and Sage yesterday for our 41st anniversary. We both had filets which were delish! They gave us a complimentary dessert of our choice and the person who brought it over wished us a personal Happy Anniversary. (We chose the brownie one which was equally delish.). Our server Michelle was attentive and more than that engaging which is nice these days. On our first visit we met the General Manager who is originally from Saint Paul MN. Service was excellent, as were the fish tacos. Where this new restaurant fell down was with the walleye and chips - both were overcooked almost to the point of inedible. Walleye doesn't need a cornmeal coating to make it taste good as it only added to an unnecessary crunch. If I return, it'll be for the fish tacos and what's up with all the IPA's on tap?
