I really wanted to like this place. This was the second time visiting the restaurant thinking the first time was just an off night. The food just isn't there at all. When you have dishes for $40+ you shouldn't have to ask for salt and pepper to taste something. Food was bland and the seafood was so fishy we had to send it back. The food itself was fine (I ordered the scallops), but the overall experience was uncomfortable. The bartender, Jordan, seemed out of it--his eyes were glazed over, I could smell marijuana on his breath, and he spent the evening staring at women at the bar in a way that made the atmosphere feel awkward. Honestly, it was unsettling. On top of that, I saw who I assume was a manager (Heather, if I caught her name right) publicly scolding an employee in front of everyone. It came across as unprofessional. I'd noticed her doing something similar on an earlier visit when the restaurant was still new, and at the time I figured it was just first-month stress. Went to their opening, great food. Posted a picture of their brownie dessert which was awesome. Brussel sprouts roasted instead of fried! Great find. The bacon wrapped dates are better than Scottsdale steakhouse I was at previous week. My wife and I went here for lunch. What a great place. The atmosphere has a Southern-style charm that is both eloquent and charming. The server team has a Top Chef uniform vibe going on. There is a large open room that could be closed. There is a separate room for about 14. The general seating area is mainly booths. The bar looks super comfortable. Parking is good for now but will be tough when everything opens up. Luckily there is a parking garage nearby. Food and drinks. We had fried tomatoes and pickles with pimento cheese. They were both perfectly fried. They use a cornmeal batter that holds in the flavor. The fried tomatoes had crumbled goat cheese (chevre) which is amazing. The pimento cheese is homemade and fricken amazing. I had the house Old Fashioned and it was perfectly made. For meals, we had the Shrimp and Grits and blackened fish tacos. The shrimp and grits were so buttery. The shrimp were a little rubbery but good. Mushrooms were abundant but still really good. My wife said that the tacos were very good with the perfect amount of heat. For dessert, we had the Butterscotch tourte. It was so good and truly tasted different with each bite. read more

We had a reservation for 7 PM on New Year's Eve. We did not get seated until 745PM, and by 9PM we had only had two glasses of wine and a Moscow mule. No food whatsoever to include appetizers after two hours! Once again, many apologies flowed from the staff, but we decided to throw in the towel and give up. Of course it was too late to go anywhere else because it was New Year's Eve and we did not have a reservation anywhere other than Copper and Sage. Our wonderful evening was ruined . This is our 3rd visit to Cooper and Sage in Goodyear. Today we ordered the fritto misto, scallops, shrimp po boy, two drink and a bottle of wine. All the food was good but the shrimp po boy was awful. The plate was soaked in liquid and the bottom bun was so saturated that it completely fell apart. I sent back the sandwich and asked them to remake it with no sauce. It came back, after all my party was done eating and was dripping in the same white liquid, that turned out to come from the slaw. The manager offered to make something else but at that point I didn't want to wait another half hour to eat. The manager took the meal off the bill, which I would expect for a dish that wasn't eaten. He offered nothing else in way of customer service. For $180 bill, with tip, I would expect to at least be able to eat the food. read more

The deviled eggs were rather bland and the bourbon nuts didn't really tie in so overall those were a disappointment. What a fun place! First time for me at this amazing restaurant. We were greeted by our amazing server Jordan. He knew the menu well and made great recommendations. We started with the fried green tomatoes. Good crunch, tender inside and the pepper feta crumbled added a nice pop of flavor. We followed with the fish and chips - crunchy walleye and seasoned fries. We wanted the beignets for dessert but the Chef was not satisfied with the quality and came to our table to explain. Marcus suggested we try the praline torte which did not disappoint. My main reason for trying Cooper and Sage was because friends told me that two of my favorite seafood items (scallops and mussels) were amazing. This was our first visit to Copper & Sage. We were a little disappointed with the venue overall. It's very noisy due to the extensive hard surfaces. There are no tablecloths, and the bright lighting and noise level give the restaurant a cafeteria vibe. Our waitress, Montana, was delightful and provided excellent service. The menu tries to cover a broad range of choices, from seafood to pasta. Southern (Grits, collard Greens, fried Green Tomatoes, Blackeyed Peas, Bayou Mussles), Italian (Fritto Misto, Tagliatelle), Meditarian (Hummus, Bacon Wrapped Dates, Olives), Mexican (Pork belly & Blackened Fish Tocos), Asian (Shishitos Peppers), American (Chicken Wings, Burgers, Fried Pickles) and more. My wife had the Fried Pickle, and I had the Olives for starters. We were not given Plates for our starters, which was a little awkward. So we picked out of each other's serving bowls. I had the Pan-seared scallops, and my wife had the Chrispy Chicken Sandwich for mains. They offer an extensive liquor, drink, and wine list at average pricing. I had two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc; my wife had a Grey Goose martini. My scallops were just a touch overdone on one side. The Parmesan risotto and corn sides, with the Scallops, were good. My wife's chicken sandwich was also good and substantial and had excellent fries. Our Check, with a 20% tip and tax, was $157.51. This restaurant has been open for a few months, and we expect it to improve with time. read more

Was just in this restaurant and was so disappointed had to write this... Ordered a New York steak medium came well done, tried to get the managers attention as she was picking up a beer bottle from our table. I was completely ignored. Saw her spend time at the table behind us, about 5 minutes talking about nothing. As she was walking PAST us again I finally got her to stop. Told her the issue; my steak completely was overcooked. This has actually taken so long, my guest is done with his meal so I had to get mine to go. Which was not the evening I wanted after a long ass work week. She did take my steak off the bill but the point is you should treat everyone the same, not pick and choose. My money is the same as everyone else's. Chicken was mostly good with some dry spots, the slaw was again, an afterthought and the beignets are literal dinner rolls with a topping on them. We had reservations tonight, New Year's Eve, at 6:30p at the Goodyear location. Arrived on time (party of 6) and were seated about 6:45p. Drinks were ordered shortly thereafter. By 7:15p, our drinks arrived, minus one martini. We were informed that they were out of martini glasses, so the drink order was changed to a glass of wine. We then ordered food. We then ordered food, mostly off the pre fixe menu. By 7:45p, still no glass of wine. 9:00p, the food had still not arrived, so we asked to speak to the manager. She arrived with an attitude that reeked of "I really don't care", and "we are busier than we thought we'd be"; total indifference and clearly incompetent. Unfortunately, this clusterfuck was evident in all of the tables since no one was getting food or drinks. By 9:30p, still no food, we finally decided to leave and informed our server of our decision. A number of other tables also walked out. In 50 years of restaurant patronage, I have never walked out of a restaurant without paying, so this was a first. I will NEVER, ever return to Cooper & Sage again, and this will be a NY Eve story we will share with others. The incompetence of the management staff, the total and complete kitchen disorganization, the complete lack of empathy towards the customer, and ruination of a fun NYE evening with friends has left us speechless. We really wanted this to be our go to happy hour spot, but after three or four visits, it just doesn't seem like it will be. We both ordered vodka sodas last night, and the soda was flat. It wasn't the first time this had happened. We've tried many of the appetizers on the menu. The deviled eggs were good the first time, but for some reason, they are overly sweet now. The bacon wrap dates are like little sugar bombs. We also tried the pork belly tacos and could not finish them. They tasted like a tortilla filled with fat. Visited on a Saturday with reservations for dinner. Arrived as a party of 2 with a toddler. Was seated at a booth and not offered a high chair by the host. Even when our server came over and saw us with a toddler she proceeded to ask about drinks and ordering. We have been to many restaurants and this was the 1st time I was not offered a high chair and sat in a booth even though it was tables opened suitable for a high chair. Nonetheless I requested one and was provided with one. Once we began to ask about drinks options, food options and asked about ingredients our server was not extremely knowledgeable which is ok because it is a new restaurant. She did provide us with answers and was extremely friendly and warm. When it comes to the food, my husband wanted to order the chicken and beignets and was told it was sold out. Typically when a menu item is sold out the server would announce it at the same time she is greeting you and taking drink orders so we had to re look at the menu to decide on something else. The food we chose was ok nothing to rave about. Overall I think servers need some additional training, food comes out hot which is great, and the drinks were good but not consistent in that we ordered a drink twice and it tasted different from the 1st. read more
