This review is based on service since we did not actually eat here. We walked up and asked to be sat outside since we had our dog with us. After seating us and bringing us menus, a staff member came up to us and said they rethought it and didn't want the dog there and asked us to leave. Food is excellent, waitstaff friendly, but disorganized. Came in at 11:40 on Saturday- lunch didn't start till noon, so had to order from breakfast menu. (Or wait till noon, then wait till line changeover ). Sat at the bar, so half the time the bartender took care of me, the other half someone working the tables. Sat at the bar and wanted to order the entire menu. The bartender talked some sense into me and directed me towards the Calamari fries, sample of Avocado fries and the Crispy Chicken sandwich. The calamari fries were not the best calamari I have had but the first I have had in a fry form and they were very solid (gotta give them a break Chicago is in fact in the middle of the country - fun fact for everyone who's first day on earth was today). The crispy chicken sandwich was a generous portion and had a nice jalapeno spread and delicious pickled onions (think fast food chicken sandwich but 10x better). The avocado fries were a bit of a let down but not because of execution, I just didn't love the flavor of them. All in all, Copper Fox is a great spot for drinks or food and I would highly recommend. read more

This place is a hidden gem just east of Michigan Ave. There biscuits practically melts in your mouth. A diverse drink menu and good ole comfort food. Walking in for dinner the place was rather empty and we were seated right away. For appetizers we ordered the brussel sprouts and calamari fries. The brussel sprouts were amazing with a little bit of jalapeno mixed in. The calamari fries were not very flavorful but the dipping sauce was pretty good. My friend liked the fried avocado salad. I ordered the fish tacos. They came out hot but again not very flavorful. I preferred to use the sauce from the calamari fries over the one served with the tacos. Overall experience 3/5. read more

My husband and I were in Chicago for a few days and ended up getting dinner here twice because we liked it so much. We tried the biscuits, brussels sprouts, shrimp and crab roll, fish tacos, and the veggie burger. Everything was amazing. The fish tacos, in particular, were some of the best that I've had. Went in around 9 for dinner on a Saturday night. The service was quick and friendly. The food was excellent. The biscuits are worth the trip alone. I had the shrimp and lump crab roll with rosemary chips - it's made with any orange aioli that was perfect, and the roll was stuffed full. My daughter ordered the quinoa black bean burger & fries and said it was also very good - spicy and not dry which is her usual experience at other restaurants. We didn't try dessert. An awesome place that's both sophisticated but still pretty casual. If you check in on Yelp you get a free order of biscuits, and the honey butter that it comes with is just sooooo good! Came here my last night in Chicago and it was definitely the best dinner I had my entire trip. Our waitress was Celeste, and she was absolutely phenomenal. I wish all dining staff were as great as her. We had two yummy cocktails (the signature mules) and both of us enjoyed our main course as well. Visiting from a smaller town with a new little one in tow I somehow forgot all about how in the bigger cities reservations are often needed. But, we got lucky and ended up with a table without a wait at this great place. Our waitress was awesome for starters, she made sure our son had something to nibble on from the get go. She had great recommendations from food to alcohol. We started with the biscuits, mostly because bacon was mentioned in their creation, and they were delicious, just the right size as not to fill you up before dinner. My husband had the vegetarian quinoa burger which wasn't the greatest as it crumbled to pieces at first bite (the reason for the 4 stars) but the fries it came with were awesome. I went with the Caesar salad with steak. It was delicious with some of the best croutons I've ever had. I love bread. We each had a canned stout which fit just right with the meal. All in all a great relaxed place for a classy meal, without being uptight or overpriced, along with attentive staff which made for a great meal. read more

This place is amazing! I love their food and their attentive customer service is always on point. I've gone most recently for dinner and had their shrimp crab roll and it was to die for! If you like seafood, be sure to try it! The roll is so soft and buttery followed by the most delicious seafood salad that is so flavorful! It's everything you want. I've also tried their burger, the Copperfox burger and it's amazing!!!! They were recently rated Chicago's best burger and I know why! The meat is incredibly tender, bun is a lovely brioche and they use a cheese sauce (I think it's white barbecue sauce) that's to die for. They top it off with crunch my fried onions. Lord I want one now. Be sure to request Darius as your server. He was on point! He knew each dish like the back of his hand, he suggested excellent dishes for us to try and he was incredibly attentive. He even allowed my mother to sample the grits because she was unsure if she would like them! 5 star service! And of course, if you ever need catering needs, these guys do that too! Be sure to ask for Anthony Visione and he will take care of you. He is so professional, kind, and accommodating and he will do everything in his power to make sure Copperfox makes you happy! We arrived very early for dinner the night most of the city was buried by a blizzard. A friendly reception in a hotel eatery. We both ordered the "Prime Skirt Steak." A small portion of meat sat atop a mound of soggy fries. Sadly, there was nothing "prime" about this beef. We've had prime skirt steak, previously, and it's delicious. Wish we could say the same for this beef. It was chewy and lacked flavor. Very disappointing. Thank you for the complimentary #16 biscuits. They were tasty. read more

Came here to take a break from the hospital while a friend recovered from surgery. It was mid afternoon, so not very crowded. Had the fish tacos and a glass of pinot noir that was not on the menu but recommended by the bartender. Not in my usual dining circle, but definitely worth a try if you're on the area! read more

No slackers workin' in this kitchen! Loved the meal. The easy like Sunday morning cocktail was also good. #6 gin is a bit much for a martini. I asked for 1/2 cap vermouth in it and i totally couldnt taste it. Fox burger is good. If you ask for rare it comes that way, and the hand cut fries that accompany it were nicely spiced. They could have been a bit crispier if they were 1/4" slices instead of 3/8", but thats not a huge deal. Pan roasted salmon just a bit too salty, according to the elder son but he ate it all Pork porterhouse was great. The sauce made it, and i loved the crispy brussel sprouts on the side. The avocado turkey sandwich met with my younger sons approvaal. I loved the housemade rosemary potato chips. They were quite subtly flavored, but i liked the fact that the waiter checked with him when taking the order, making sure that he was ok with the rosemary. Worth coming back for sure. Not sure when i'm in Chicago again, but it was good enough to go again. read more

I brought a large group to the Copper Fox on a weeknight. From the reservation to the private seating area to coping with extra people who came along, the staff of the Copper Fox took it all in stride and were cheerful and helpful. Unlike other restaurants, the Copper Fox did not require a minimum spend or for the diners to choose meals ahead of time. At the end of the meal, they gave us each separate checks quickly and efficiently. Now to the food and drink: excellent! I enjoyed my fish tacos and my Honey-Do cocktail, but the stars of the show were the brussel sprouts. Who knew they could be so good? Many thanks, Copper Fox. read more

This place is awesome! Good beers, great food, incredible service. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott attached to the restaurant and wandered downstairs to "the bar". Little did I realize that "the bar" is Copper Fox. Talk about a hotel bar! Craft beers, craft cocktails, great music playing, and the food...wow! I came in to a cheery hostess greeting me then made my way to the bar area for drinks and dinner (in that order). My server, Stephanie, was great! She say I, "time to drink!", not a question but a statement. And I agreed. I asked what beers they have on tap and they have a few and more bottles and cans. I taste three before I settle on a local IPA. All recommendations from Stephanie with great descriptions. She also recommends food options and I order. I settle on the Crispy Brussels and Half portion Kale salad with Chicken added. The salad was really good and the Brussels were other level. Pickled jalapeños and fried Brussels equal perfection. So good. The perfect amount of food and over the top flavors. I would recommend this place as a stand alone restaurant to anyone. Forget being the hotel bar. However, I must admit, this was the first time, ever, that I was disappointed with a meal I've ordered in a restaurant. I ordered the vegetable risotto because I don't make it. Would have loved more. The 7 layer chicken salad was good. Light dressing. The presentation was terrific. It came in a glass container all layered then dumped into the bowl at the table. The salad was heavier. More beans and corn less lettuce. We also ordered the herb chicken with cheesy grits and grilled tomatoes. Great flavors. A few beer options on draught.
