This is my favorite breakfast restaurant but I was so disappointed when I went here yesterday to celebrate getting an A on my midterm and order my food with my english muffin welll tosted and this is what I received. I could not belive they thought it was ok to plate these burnt muffins. I showed my waiter and she offered more but I was finished with my food. They did not even take the muffins off of my bill. I paid, and left my tip as usual. I was nit in the mood to makw a big fuss so I just left. Smh read more

I've order door dash the last two days a kid menu item I don't understand why you have the option for a drink but when my food arrives I have no drink... so my dasher told me today they don't do drinks for a kids meal well on door dash you have to pick a drink in order to move forward now I feel like I'm getting ripped off... if the drink doesn't come with the meal why is it even a option I love the food but I will not be paying for things if I'm no going to receive them this is very unprofessional and maybe there should be no kids meal on your menu for DoorDash... My boyfriend and I have made this are weekend breakfast date for the last few months and every time we're there we try something different. I was in town visiting my parents and wanted to take them out to breakfast. I found this place on yelp and it looked like a pretty good breakfast spot. We weren't really greeted per say, more along the lines of the lady just stared at us until I said here for 3. We were told we could sit anywhere, so we sat at a corner wraparound booth. The first waitress we had was really nice and really attentive. We ordered our breakfast selections and the food came out fairly quick. The food was delicious and piping hot. They did however get my order wrong (I asked for pancakes and got a Belgium waffle instead) but, I didn't complain, I love both! However, what did bother me, was for some strange reason we had multiple waitresses coming to our table every 5 mins before and during our meal, interrupting our conversation. Usually you have one waitress looking after your table, not all of them rotating. We weren't being loud or anything, my parents and I were just catching up, laughing, and enjoying ourselves. Not even 10 mins went by, once they brought the food out and one of the waitresses' had the nerve to ask us if she can bring the check! It rubbed me the wrong way and kind of agitated me, because we had just started eating. I'm not sure if they were trying to rush us out or what. This was on a Thursday morning! it was a little busy but not packed, so what gives? As I looked around, I did notice we were the only African American family there at the time and we did get some weird stares. Another strange thing, was when the waitresses' had nothing to do, they just stood in the back of the restaurant staring at people eat and we got the glaring constantly. That's the main reason I gave 3 stars, as I said before the food was great and my parents were happy that we tried out this new place. They even discussed possibly coming back since they live not too far, but if I had the chance to, I probably wouldn't. The service just left me disappointed. Another African American family was coming in as we were about to leave our booth. They asked for a booth and was given 2 tables pushed together instead of given the option to wait for one. My dad was gonna tell the waitress we are about to leave they can take our booth, but I just advised him against it. Hopefully they got better service than we did. read more

I always love the food here. I grew up eating at Copper Skillet in Pittsburg. The went out of business quite some time ago. I found this one in Martinez 16 yrs ago and was excited to have my "Italian Omelette" again... So sad that I came in this morning for breakfast and they no longer have it... 30yrs on the menu and now it's gone... It's the only reason I've ever come here... It's really too bad that I heard this place was a good breakfast to eat. I love to support local businesses and give a chance to try out what they have. We order take out... medium well steak was over cook and dry. Scramble eggs had egg shells in them, bacon seemed like it was left over and reheated and the French toast we ordered had no taste. Only Monte Cristo sandwich in town. Last time we were here a group of TWENTY-TWO asked to be seated at 10am on a Sunday. Staff were wonderful! I think I was more annoyed than they were, which is stupid since I was already sitting and eating by the time they were sat. I have yet to have a bad meal. Chicken-fried anything, biscuits and gravy, all the omelettes, anything with hollandaise, pancakes are fluffy and soft, waffles are crispy and airy. Lovely. read more

First, I'll say the food was good (for what it is) and reasonably priced. It was also New Year's day for what it's worth. When I arrived there was a wait. It was New Year's Day, so I expected some wait. I was quoted 10-15 minutes. It was closer to 45 minutes. When we sat down, our drink order was taken quickly and delivered. It was about another 5-10 minutes before we would meet our server. Upon ordering, we were told, "the kitchen is backed up today, and orders are taking at least 20 minutes". Fine, we waited for about an hour now already. So we waited some more. That 20 minutes was over 30 minutes. My entire brunch/lunch took about 2hrs. The food is good, and plentiful, but this is easily avoided by quoting realistic times. Also, if your kitchen is this slow, let me know up front before I wait 30-45 minutes. I can choose to endure the wait or not. It's hard to say whether I'll be back as this is the second time I've experienced such long waits here. read more

Copper Skillet Courtyard is me and my wifes Go to spot when we go to the Martinez farmers market on saturdays. We really love the upbeat atmosphere. And the mimosa's are amazing! They have Delicious French Toast and my wife loves sitting upstairs in the little dining area above the register. So, we have been going to the Copper Skillet for close to 20 years and it has always been really good. The last two times we have gone, it has been subpar. My fried chicken sandwich last week had absolutely no flavor. I had to keep adding salt and would have tossed it if I hadn't been so hungry. Today, my husband order the waffle and chicken fried steak. He complained the whole time that it was dry and he kept getting bits of egg shell. I had the three cheese omelet. With "three cheese" in the title, you would expect it to ooze out of the omelet. No such luck. There was ONE slice of white cheese and one glob of cream cheese all in the middle. I don't even see the third cheese. I have attached a picture of inside the omelet. If anyone can find the third cheese, please let me know. I am so extremely disappointed because this was always our "Go-To." Looks like we will be finding somewhere else to make our Sunday morning meal place. First, I would like to clarify that my 3-star rating is for the food only. The service I received was 5 STARS; however, the corned beef hash tasted, and I hate to say it, like dog food (or at least what I imagine dog food would taste like based on the smell). The hash browns were not crispy and 2 out of 4 pieces of my toast were burnt. My eggs were cooked well, but they were cold. I think the corned beef is canned? It was extremely mushy and just had a funky taste. My server did offer to get me something else, but I was on limited time so perhaps I will try something else next time. Another Martinez spot to knock off my list. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Its so cute inside. The walls are completely wood paneled in the old style from when this used to be the old Martinez Court House. The room upstairs even says jury box. I think you can rent the space out for events and luncheons and stuff. When I get breakfast out it usually means I'm getting Biscuits and Gravy. I cant help myself. I scoured the menu and it wasn't on it anywhere. I asked our waitress and she pointed over at the wall to a sign that listed custom Biscuits and Gravy menu items. So I went with Biscuits and Gravy, two Eggs over easy, Hash Browns and Bacon. I was so full I couldn't even eat my bacon. The Biscuits were fantastic. My Hash Browns were excellent and cooked extra crispy like I like em. While I was basking in the glow of my Gravy my uncle, who came with me, was not too happy with his Hash Browns. I tasted them because he couldn't finish them. They tasted awful, and I'm so glad that I didn't get his order. They truly tasted like wood chips. Must have been a different batch of oil for his. My food was excellent so that's all I care about. The service was attentive and personable. I'm so glad we got here when we did too, because it got packed and people were standing in line and waiting. On a week day! I wish I could come back here more often. We waited outside for our table for OVER 30 MINUTES & even checked in with the "seating list lady" a few times to be sure we hadn't missed her call; she assured us we were still on the list, she had even attached the name to the face & said we had 1 party ahead of us. She seated 2 other parties (one was a group of ladies which she acted very friendly toward... they literally walked in & she sat them!!) Then she had the nerve to call the name of yet ANOTHER party... AS IF we wouldn't notice that this other couple had put their name in the list WHILE WE WERE WAITING THERE, like I heard their lastname & everything. So I walk over & ask to see her list, OF COURSE, she had passed up our name!! At least it wasn't crossed out yet, but then she tries to act like this was an accident... really??? She was like, oh you're right, then basically pointed us to a table whiles she PERSONALLY ESCORTED the other couple to their table. Just wow! Took us about 2.5 seconds to walk out, we didn't even sit down. We were both too shocked to even move toward our table when she so rudely & dismissively turned her back & walked away. No greeting, no apology, no trying to smooth it over so it wasn't so awkward, NOTHING. I've been here a few other times, and the food was good; service was a bit slow, but friendly. I love going out for breakfast and am always searching for the Best Eggs Benedict. We found this place, open on a Sunday (a big deal for downtown MTown.) We parked around the corner, then saw a back entrance, which I don't recommend. I always hate seeing where the magic happens. Plus walking through part of the kitchen area, you kinda feel like you're in the way and the waitresses hate you from the get-go. We got a booth right away, the last one open. Our waitress was fine, a bit tweaked perhaps, but maybe just busy. They have a kids' menu, always appreciated, but there's no waffle listed. The waffle is only on the regular menu, so when your kid is dead set on a waffle, you've got to pony up for the adult size portion, which will go 3/4 uneaten. I surprised myself when I went to order the Eggs Benedict-- I blurted out "Eggs Florentine!" instead. Whatever. I've never seen so much hollandaise sauce in my life. And, yeah, it was a bit gloppy, but passable. I ate it all. I also ate all of the hash browns, which at most places I have to order "extra crispy" to avoid white hashbrowns. At Copper Skillet, they might crisp 'em up right the first time bc I could barely cut through mine w a knife. Both Cinzia and Reno said the waffle was "ok." I think I need to try this place again and order correctly. Oh! The interior is all hardwood, which is beautiful. But for some reason they choose to cover it with at least three different themes: country crap, county-seat / court-room references and cheap prints of classic paintings. Best breakfast in town, and their specials are the best deal on a weekday. I go here any chance I have. The cook is fantastic, and the waitresses are nice (for the most part). I have never been disappointed, and my cup never stays empty for long. Do yourself a favor next time you find yourself in court (or simply in Martinez)! Such a cute place on the inside! The menu is huge, and the service was great. We were seated right away and offered coffee and water. My co-workers and I all ordered the omelette with bacon, avocado, spinach, and mushrooms. I got mine with egg whites, it was delicious and the portions were huge! So I've always heard great things about this little hole in the wall brunch spot and let me tell you, it was worth the wait. It's downtown and fun to walk around and check out all the shops after you eat. Came on a Wednesday with a couple girlfriends and got seated and taken care of right away. They have $5 mimosas, got the pomegranate and orange, so good! There are sooo many options to choose from, I couldn't decide! They have about 40 omelette choices, on top of other breakfast and lunch options. Ended up getting the basic breakfast and I was not disappointed. The country potatoes were sooo good, and the sausage was delicious. So after eating here for the first time this weekend (4/21/12), we were incredibly disappointed that we'd never tried it the year before while living in Martinez. It would've been a great place to make our regular spot for breakfast. I ordered an egg (over-medium) and extra crispy hash browns (both a la carte - I'd already eaten one breakfast!!) (pictured) My fiance had a full breakfast of two eggs over easy, toast, hash browns and bacon. Plus a soda and a tea. Our total was $15.26. That included a free egg (there were two on my plate!!) Yummm Very reasonable prices, awesome food. The bacon was really crispy. We informed her a little burnt was okay and it was perfect. The hashbrowns may have been just a lil too crispy for us. I ate them all... but we'd had ones deep fried once before (somewhere else) and based on those, we think these may have been deep fried too. They were still good, but not great. They'd prob be great as-served, if we hadn't ordered 'extra-crispy'. Our server was very friendly. A woman with brown hair and a great smile. She was efficient and we had no complaints. She even stopped us from putting money in the meter (guess you don't need to on the weekend in Martinez - nice!) Another employee (a taller guy) got us a drink refill once without asking. Great prices and service. Lots of menu options, good specials and cheap mimosas. There were a lot of people here but there are also a lot of tables available so I was seated right away. Seems like a popular breakfast spot for the area. I ordered the bacon + two eggs with toast and hash browns. Everything was pretty basic. The bacon was a little too salty for my taste but the rest was fine. My neighbor's biscuits and gravy looked pretty good... This place is super cute inside with a cabin like feel to it. It has a very relaxing and comfortable feeling to it. The staff here is really friendly and very helpful. What the french toast!!? Just....No! This was recommended by a local and although I appreciate her efforts in helping us find an alternative to Victoria's Cafe since it was closed, I left hungry and disappointed. FOOD: An upgraded Denny's. It's a good thing their prices were reasonable. The "Healthy Scramble" (made with egg whites) was so soggy that I could have given myself a side of soup with the juices. The scramble was all veggies (no meat or cheese-what was I thinking?) so my assumption was that the veggies were not defrosted all the way nor dried thus creating a baby swamp thing and placing it on my plate. The hash browns weren't bad. I'd eat those again if the big one hit and I had nothing else. It was very busy (I don't know HOW) so the servers were definitely in a pickle and looked stressed. Needless to say, we were not checked on once so the opportunity to order something else came and went. We waited 25 minutes and no one came to take our card so I had to head on over to the cashier and reluctantly forked over dinero for one half eaten meal. Yes, I returned mine. I seldom do this and am very polite about it but I just could not consume baby swamp thing. Maybe if it had 1/2lb of cheese. OVERALL: Cute, cabin-like decor, sloOoooow service and below average food. If I could give this place a negative review, I would. This review isn't a going off of one experience, but of all of my experiences there in the past 6 years. The food is at best mediocre, the service is bad... even with a bell curve. It's slow, unorganized, and the place is tight. People just basically excuse the bad service because that's what they are used to. I had a conversation about it with the table next to me today. They were saying how it's worse when the older gentleman is running the floor. Today was the last day I'll ever set foot in that place. The ambiance is cute, but it seriously takes a dive in customer service and quality of food. I waited as usual a little over 30 min to get seated with my daughter. We walked around the farmers market and came back with some coffee. No biggy, we factored in a wait time. We waited a little longer and got seated. It took over 30 min to even get a menu, let alone our waitress to acknowledge our presence. We were able to finally order about 35 min after being seated. By this time the table next to us that were seated at the exact same time were served were getting their meals. Another 30 minutes goes by and my daughter is starting to get antsy... we go to the bathroom, come out... still no food and the table next to us said that they had t come out to check on us while we were gone. I finally set my timer in my phone for 5 min and in that five min nobody checked on us or brought us our meal. Nobody even remotely looking at us from the kitchen. So over an hour of waiting around for breakfast, we left. Literally empty handed... and angry that I'd wasted close to two hours on this CRAP. I'm delighted that MTZ is opening so many new businesses. Hopefully we'll see better breakfast and brunch options. My kid was the one who prompted today's visit, the last time we went we ran into some school friends. We won't be making that mistake again. read more
