Really enjoyed my beer, but the service left a lot to be desired. Debated on writing this review, but after visiting other local Breweries, decided my experience was subpar. Came in Sunday evening with some buddies and the bartender was abrupt and rude. She was dismissive and attempted to make me feel stupid when I asked for recommendations it was uncomfortable for everyone including other guests at the bar. Although I wasn't raving at the time I was there, this place is kinda my perfect brewery. Let's break it down - Cool eclectic wall art - After we came in and got a few drinks, I said "let's just walk around and look at the stuff on the walls." Lots of old maritime-style art; think krakens and pre-war diving suits. Right up my alley, with the added benefit of being stylized just enough to make it less museum and more art. Layout - A long bar if you're a barstool resident. Tables - high and low - if you need to play a boardgame or if you're an elbow leaner. Outside for smokers, skywatchers, and people who just prefer to be outside. Couch for those too cool for all of the above. There's an upstairs too, but 1) not sure if it was open, since nobody was up there and 2) I couldn't find a way up anyway, but that might be just because I'm dumb. They were also playing pretty perfect music - downtempo/deep house/chill music for the cool not-douchey-ultralounge vibe. Tap selection - This is a big one that sometimes gets overlooked by the little places. Yeah, you've got all your goofy experimental lemon & lime saison, stone crab stout, oatmeal porters - the weird crap that all the hip cool kids are into now. But right at the top of the chalkboard is their standard 4 - a wheat, an IPA, a stout, and a trippel. The fallbacks for those visits where you don't feel like trying something new, you just want a solid beer. A few of the other local spots in the area would do well to emulate this setup. The beer itself - But those weird experiments in brewcraft? They were legit. Many places that offer unique beers often wind up tasting like Bud Light with whatever they felt like adding - during the brewing process, like they just made their normal beer and then tossed in some oranges or whatever. Coppertail seems like they really know what they're doing, though The beers with the odd things in them were just crafted well. They tasted refined, quality-controlled, not just "drawing board to sales floor" style. Good beer. Terrible service. Only one person working at the bar and bringing out food. You sit yourself and have to order from the bar for food and drinks. The bartender is swamped and could care less about taking your order or getting it right. They messed up my order and told me they'd take it off and still charged me for it. I rarely don't write very positive reviews. I was very disappointed during my visit to Coppertail. I understand with Covid things aren't as usual anywhere. It took at least 25 mins from being seated until someone finally took our drink order. The waiter was cold and not very helpful. Another 20 mins we waited until he finally came back to our table for our food order. Food arrives another 20 mins later (we have been here over an hour now!), the french fries are cold and the rest of the food is mediocre at best. We really enjoy the brewery atmosphere. This brewery has great beer and a descent selection. If your looking for a lighter beer this may not be your place. They are always changing and have some great regulars ( Free dive and unholy). Free dive is an IPA and one of my favorites. The haves food menu from stein and vine which is excellent. I love craft beer and always glad to check out breweries. Coppertail had fantastic reviews so I was super excited to go and ready to love it! To my huge disappointment, I hated it. The selection of beers is not good! Every single beer they had was hoppy and felt like they only carried IPAs. I love wheat/wit beers (Hoegaarden, Alagash, local Florida Cracker, etc) and they did not have a single beer that was even remotely similar to those or at least Blue Moon or Shock Top. I couldn't even find a regular light beer, very sad! My husband and I ended up getting whatever was the least hoppy (still way too much), barely finished it and left. The brewery itself is cool and I loved the ambiance, but wouldn't return unless there was a better variety of beer. If you like IPAs you will love this place. read more

Fantastic beer on tap, I personally love Free Dive which is a smooth crisp and delicious IPA and my boyfriend loves Unholy(pretty impressive for someone who normally drinks Busch...yuck!). Rotating beers on tap also so if you like something you try, get as much as you can because if it's in rotation it may not be back for a while or at all! They really have something for everyone here, whether it's an IPA, a lager, porter, saison or even a sour! I know this is a brewery and we should be focusing on the beer but the food here is AMAZING, I've genuinely thought about coming here on my lunch break on a Tuesday before because it's SO GOOD. I have been coming here all the time for a while now as I live real close by, but never again. The food is great, the beer is great, and the servers are amazing, but management is awful. Me and my girlfriend were here the other day enjoying lunch when we were approached by the manager and told to "leave and don't come back" because I was with my service animal. Not only was this shocking as a general statement, but his tone was aggressive enough to make my girlfriend intimidated and cry in the car on the way home. I have never seen or heard anything like this in my life from a manager or anyone in the service industry. Really bad look to kick out a disabled veteran. This brewery is awesome! Great space, great food and most importantly, great beers. This warehouse sized brewery has plenty of space with seating inside, upstairs and outside. There is seating at the bar and an expedited line in the center of the bar for people at the tables to order at. In one corner, on the way to the bathrooms, there is Coppertail merch of all sorts. I ordered a flight of beers which included a couple of sour beers and a tropical stout. I thoroughly enjoyed the tropical stout, even though it sounded odd. I love sour beers and was not disappointed by Coppertails selections. For lunch, I had a burger with tots. The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. One of the people I was with had the peanut butter and jelly burger, and he said it was awesome. The bartenders were friendly and quick. This brewery is a must if you're in the area. read more

I think that Coppertail might have the most beautiful tap room in Tampa, although I have not been to every place (I'm working on that). If you are looking to take guests to Tampa to a few places, do put this one on your short-list! Yes, the tap room is filled with marvelous copper ceilings and a huge view of the brew works, so even if you don't have time for a tour or the facility you can still appreciate it. There is gorgeous on-brand artwork and the ladies' bathroom is really pretty. (These things do matter.) This place is also really great for people who are sort of on the skirts of craft beer and those who wake up swimming in barrel aged stouts. The Core 4 beers will please just about anyone, and those are always on tap. The others are some really fun experimental beers and a few guest taps. They did a Hoppuccino coffee IPA that was my intro to coffee IPAs, which was glorious. Their Brews Banner DIPA is always great, and their Purple Drink Berliner is a staple. When I've gone, there usually hasn't been a ton of IPAs. Lots of sours, Berliners, saisons, and stouts usually balance it out. So, we were told the chopped salad was good by a bartenderess, so three of us ordered it and it was very small and skimpy for $14. It ate much more like a dinner salad. Even with increased grocery rices, it was quite disappointing. On the other hand, the beers and wine were good as were the wings and fish dip. Coppertail is a pretty snazzy brewery hidden on the outskirts of Ybor. It took me a while to find this place, but oh am I glad I did. They have a great selection of different beers and it's always crowded here. Coppertail has a very hip vibe to it. Unlike other breweries in Tampa, Coppertail focuses a lot of their energy not only on their beers, but also the atmosphere and environment of their brewery. Right when you walk in, you see the exposed brick walls, metal decorations, and artwork covering the brewery. It really gives it refreshing vibe, differing itself from a regularly brewery that is focused on beer decorations. You can also walk to the back and see the entire brewery process. They have a couple of games around the place and even have a massive jenga set outside too. And if any of you are trivia players, they have a trivia night here on Tuesday! I've tried a couple of their beers and each one more amazing than the other. My personal favorite was the unholy trippel. But you seriously can't go wrong with anything on their menu. PS. Coppertail is my new favorite brewery in Tampa Bay. The building is gorgeous, nice outdoor and indoor seating, food tuck onsite, and of course yummy beer. I don't like most styles of beer and eve the styles I like I don't want an entire pint. I'm a beer wife so I'm typically the driver. The great thing about Coppertail is they do give 4, 8, 12 and 16 ounce pours. Why all breweries don't do this is beyond me but I love when they do. The only downside is the smell of sewage outside. Cool venue, hoppin' place! The warehouse feel with high ceilings, exposed piping and pressed tin artwork are definite eye catchers when you walk in. A huge bar with seating dominates the room and a pleasing grouping of various sized tables and a couch set up provide seating spaced through out. Large windows keep it light despite the darker woods and feel of the furniture. High ceilings and concrete walls allow the noise level to rise, but you can hear at the table and there is outside seating as well. The big draw at Coppertail is the huge variety of brew options from more straight forward IPAs to fruit flavored beers. Try the Unholy, a citrus beer blend for a smooth taste and full flavor. Want to try a few of their specialties without overdoing it? Ask for a smaller pour - I LOVE it when venues offer this option!!! 2, 4, 6, 8 ounce options allow you create your own flavor testing grouping. Brewery tours are $7. Pay at the bar, they will give you a pass and when they have enough takers for a tour group, it starts. Fun! TIPS: Bring your own food or have it delivered as this brewery does not sell food. Visited on a trip to Tampa earlier this month. The tap room is huge and has several levels. Not sure how busy it gets in the evening, but definitely has a potential to be a cool night spot. We went on a Thursday afternoon and it was relatively quiet. The decor and artwork in the taproom is eye catching and interesting. The beers themselves were all solid, and there was definitely something for everyone to try, including some fruity options and sour options for those who may not consider themselves beer drinkers. I wouldn't call his service bad, rather I'd call it straight up unacceptable. Bottom line, if you're coming for the beer and don't mind poor service, this place might be for you. If you're coming for a good meal or have medium or high expectations when it comes to service, I suggest you keep looking. EDIT: management responded to the review and offered to address it. I'm not local so wasn't able to take them up on their offer but I'm impressed how they handled the situation. First time visiting this place after hearing many good things about it. First the decor and layout is very very nice. Nice, spacious layout with ample seating. The art on the wall is beautifully done, with that "3rd eye" type of vibe, which I'm into. Also there is a confessional in there! You can't go in it tho, so that's kind of a bummer. Definitely a nice touch though. As far as the menu, this time around I didn't get food, but the beer.. oh yes. I had the "Unholy" which is a 9.2 ABV American Trippel. Let me tell you , it is a delicious beer. Had two of them and I was def feeling unholy, lol. All jokes aside though, the beer had a nice fruity hop but not too sweet to make you put it down, I'm telling you. It was just the right amount to make me want to keep it in my hand. Also had the "Katastrophe" which was a light kolsch. I enjoyed the smoothness of that as well. They also have a little merch store with a bunch of coppertail branded merchandise, good quality and fairly lrAll in all, I definitely enjoyed my time at coppertail. Just slammed glasses down in front of you and didn't bother to listen to questions. I could see if it was crowded but it was late on a Sunday evening and there were probably 6 seats open at the bar. We were introduced to Coppertail by friends who live in the area and frequent it. We first went when they were in their old space with the small, cute (pet friendly) taproom. The first time I went I got a flight of 8 beers, lots of them were Weisse style and very delicious and light. We recently went to the new taproom which is just gorgeous. It's right next to the old space and is spacious, comfortable, and well thought out. They have expanded their beer selection and are bottling a bunch of different beers now too. I highly recommend Brews Banner and Seasonal Relief, as well as their Coquito beer (can't remember the name) which was like a tropical treat. read more

We visited Coppertail recently while out brewery hopping. I thought the place was completed, but apparently the current tasting room is temporary. We walked in to find the place quite busy, standing room only. We grabbed a flight of everything and sat down and began to sample. All the beers were at or above average except for the IPA. It had a buttery flavor to it. I have sampled it since and it did not have that flavor so it must have been an off batch. The place wasn't highly decorated and had a few board games to play. One of the best breweries in the state, an always interesting draft menu and stellar service. Neat space with lots of room, as it can accommodate large parties and the decor and artwork are all interesting and fun. This was a heightened by adding the Stein & Vine kitchen to the establishment (a pretty cool restaurant in its own right with a stellar draft list out in Brandon). Affordable prices and good food. Some move. You have to order at the bar and the food runners come find you, but that's never been a hindrance or an issue at all and I don't even think about that. I guess my one "complaint" would be that the menu doesn't change quite like the actual Stein & Vine restaurant, which rotates on an almost daily basis. I could understand how that would be more difficult here. Cool night markets and they even had a Stoner / Doom Metal show during Tampa Bay Beer Week. These guys know what's up. read more

Coppertail is my favorite Tampa bar. It's clean, there is a huge variety of craft beer, and they recently added a reasonable food menu. There is beer for any palette, from fruitier ciders to darker Porter-type beers. They also have growlers available, as well as a fridge with 6 packs that you can purchase for home. While I've never done a tour of the brewery, they are available, and there's a variety of souvenirs to purchase, from t shirts to glasses. It's a good place for any group size, I definitely recommend sitting at the bar however. The staff is friendly and willing to conversation, and provide suggestions for the extensive menu. One thing to keep in mind is that there is no liquor served, which may vex some or give reason to dock a star. But at the end of the day, this is a beer bar. And it's the most Tampa brewery in Tampa. read more

Excellent company, food and beers are great' I've been here about three times this year, and since they've added a kitchen, I can't help but order something off the menu each time! Definitely go for the tots, must try those. And their pretzels don't have a typical 'pretzel taste', I think because they use a different ingredients in their dough, but it's addicting and delicious! I don't like spicy food, but I did enjoy their volcano burger! It's got jalapeños embedded in the goat cheese in the middle of the burger, so if you don't want them, make sure you let them know! They have excellent craft beers, and you can't go wrong with their beers. I really like hoppy beers, so my favorites are their trippel and IPA. Try the free dive!!!! Also, got to experience their upstairs last weekend. They have a nice balcony, people were playing corn hole, and they have a small bar as well (most of their brews, and you can order food). Even better...they have bathrooms upstairs, too! Oh and you can take stairs or the elevator! Coppertail is my favorite brewery in Tampa and now they also serve food from one of my favorite restaurants in Tampa.. Stein and Vine! The vibe and atmosphere at Coppertail is unlike any of the other Tampa breweries. The selection of different types of beers is awesome. They usually have a sour or two as well, which is the type of beer we love but have a hard time finding different sours on tap. I have not had the opportunity to try the Stein and Vine kitchen at Coppertaily et but am looking forward to getting there ASAP to try it out. read more

Although this brewery is pretty out of the way for me, I ready dig what they have going on and was a huge fan of their place. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and had about 15 people. There was plenty of room for us as some sat at tables while others mingled. There is both inside and outside seating and a huge bar where the bartenders are quick to poor you one of their many selections on tap. I loved every beer I drank and was happy with the wide variety they offered. There was a nice selection of IPAs, even a coffee IPA, a few sours, and my favorite of the day a cherry chocolate porter. This is a really solid brewery and tap room. The beers are all solid and I don't think you'll hit any beer that is just gross. They tend to run out of their limited run beers pretty quickly, so make sure you get it while the getting is good. I can say this enough, but I highly recommend the Hoppucino. Next to the Duchess, it is my favorite beer out there. If you don't like coffee or IPAs, then you may not like it, otherwise get two. I really wish they would bottle this drink or at least allow growlers. It can get busy but there is ample seating throughout the establishment. The tables aren't waited (which would be nice), but there are ordering spots at the bar where a line forms. I know lines suck, but it works out for the best. Nothing I hate more than trying to push my way up to the bar to be ignored by the bartender because I am not as loud as everyone else. It gets pretty loud in there when it's crowded. They also have food and it's all decent. Not amazing, but not horrible. A little better than average, just slightly. They will bring the food to you, so that's nice. There is an upstairs area, which has a limited beer selection, but last time we went, they kicked us out. Guess it isn't always open. All the good, unique beers are downstairs but the extra seating would be nice especially since it gets loud downstairs when it's crowded. read more
