Great food and service on a recent visit with family, but I was disturbed by the music blaring out of the speaker system. Old school gangsta rap, loud. After I distinctly heard the N word and mo-fo a few times, I said something to the receptionist. Is this language appropriate? "I'm sorry," she said, "the owner likes this music. I'm not allowed to change it." Cordelia staff need a little more authority, or an owner with a little more class. read more

My husband and I had a very nice experience at Cordelia. Our server was very friendly despite being super busy. The atmosphere was dark and moody. We sat near an area that opens up to the outside and love when restaurants have that capability! We loved the jojo's as you can tell by only two being left when I thought to take the picture. The salad looked incredible but definitely missed the mark and we couldn't put exactly put our fingers on it. Our burgers were very close to perfection, however, we both thought they were incredibly salty (not sure if it was an off night or if this is how they're served). We'd definitely go back! read more

Okay, not a long review My colleague and I flew in on a Sunday midday and wanted something to eat for lunch, we saw this place served "American New Fare," so we figured why not it's right around the corner. We walked in and saw the open concept restaurant, and it was fairly packed at 1:45 in the afternoon. We got sat after a brief delay in table set up and immediately were asked for beverage choice, I figured they are serving brunch, so let's go with something simple like a Baileys coffee. Only to find out 10 minutes later they don't have that in their fully stocked bar. So we settled on Liquor 43 and some creamer... it works! We then ordered our meals, a PLT (pimento cheese lettuce tomato) sandwich, and a Dutch baby with apples and cream cheese. That came out likely split. The water and coffee refills never came. The meal was over and our waiter, who was super fine attitude wise, was nowhere to be found. 45 minutes later, we finally asked for the bill when he showed up to fill the coffee. The total costs weren't bad, although I was charged for a Baileys I never got, but I just wanted out as I have other things to do on a Sunday. Neat little place in Cleveland. We started with carrot muharrma, farmers cheese, and crispy chicken skins. The carrot and farmers cheese spread were divine. The decor and ambiance at Cordelia is a 10/10, highly recommend. I would definitely come back and have a drink again the bar. However, the food that we had was just okay. It is possible that because my friend and I ordered mostly vegetarian options that we were both unimpressed with the options we had at hand, So keep that in mind as I tell you about our experience: Let me start with the Carrot Muhammara, that was unique, flavorful, and worth it. Note that you only get 3 slices of bread and you are charged for extra - which I personally find somewhat inhospitable. The waitress was super nice, she recommended the cauliflower dish and said it was so flavorful, it was fine. We ordered a chicken walnut apple appetizer thing, which was also flavorless, but I got used to it. Long story short, ambiance is great, cocktails are good, muhammara is excellent. Give it a shot. Try some meat and chicken or something different than the choices we made. The table next to us had ordered lamb and that looked good. Tell me what you think! Yes I know that Cleveland used to be a hot bed for culinary delights mostly during the LeBron era and I experienced the slight decline and closing of businesses when I lived there around 2019. Rest in peace to my fav restaurant that had my guilty pleasure- lamb burger, and I still remember when House of Blues used to have a Gospel Brunch.... anywho. I didn't think it was possible to quell my culinary tastes on a typical family visit but here we are. The beau found Cordelia and I was pleasantly surprised. For a menu that is a la carte, it is on par with the prices we found in California and even Cincy fancy quaint places- plates range fro $12 to $16 and sides are extra. So anticipate to pay around $50 - 80 for a two person meal with drinks lands you on the latter end. It reminds me of Salt - which eventually closed, so I am not sure The Land is the right repeat clientele but this placed was packed when we were there, so hey prove me wrong people! The oysters were priced a piece so that was surprising, while the caramel apple dutch baby was good but small. Blame it on me being from Chicago and used to the big ones baby! We finished it up with jammy eggs and an order of Jojos, the latter I heard of so much since that is a Cleveland thing. Fantastic food and service. Def get the fried chicken. For two of us, the "mine" portion was plenty with several sides. The charred peas with horseradish and cauliflower were delicious too. It was literally the best single bite of food I've had in my entire life, which has included some truly excellent restaurants and dishes. We came to Cleveland on a mission to try all of the 2025 James Beard nominated Chefs food and Chef Vinny at Cordelia didn't disappoint. We had reservations for 7 and from the moment we were seated we were very well taken care of. We ordered a couple of their classics, the pimento cheese which came with (who knew this was a thing??) fried saltines, and their version of the Skyline Chili dip. Both were very tasty. Then we got to try the bone in Brussels, their Burger Box, and the Mines size of their Fried Chicken. Everything was excellent except for the brusslesprouts which to be fair are leaving the menu soon, but they came out last and were a little bit greasy. For specializing in modern grandma cuisine, the restaurant had a great cozy vibe and our server was fantastic. Despite my partner being a little indecisive, we never felt rushed or like we were choosing the wrong items. I haven't been wow'd by a restaurant in a while. Cordelia, you thoroughly impressed me. What a delicious, beautiful meal! Farm to table. Flavors were uniquely combined and sooo tasty. No skimping on the spices here. Vegan/vegetarian friendly. Literally every dish was EXCELLENT, except for the market fish (red snapper) which was good but had a tad too much salt. We dined with no expectations, as we got a last minute same day reservation. What a fantastic find! If this restaurant were in SF, it would no doubt be booming. Loved the cool cozy hipster vibe, complete with teal velvet booths, floor to 30-ft ceiling bar, and tattoo-covered bartenders. Most of the names of items require an explanation, but after you visit once, I'm sure every following visit will make you feel like an insider, in-the-know about the tasty creations that await you. Tomato week ($14) w/brie mayo on side as requested so the toddler could eat the plain tomatoes. Fresh and seasoned heirloom tomatoes w/sweet cornbread & brie mayo. Loved how the flavors went together. Fish toast ($14) and beef tartare toast ($18) were both tasty and generously topped with fish/fish roe and beef. Preferred the fish, with the complimentary flavors--acidic pickled kohlrabi cubes, rich fish mayo spread, etc. Beef for me was reminiscent of pulled pork because it was mixed with bbq sauce. Oysters, new school (6/$24) - dressed with watermelon radicchio. Fresh, smooth, good. Corn ribs ($15) - miso, burnt honey, chili powder. Elevated elote, sans cheese, + tiny bit of sweetness. Shining star of our meal that was full of twinkling stars. I'd get this every time I visit. Burger ($21) - super tasty, tender patty, cucumbers, non fatty bacon, tasty Parker house-type rolls as the bun. Fantastic, and surprisingly easily shareable. Whole market fish ($38, red snapper) - bbq'd, good but a tad oversalted. After the fantastic meal I was looking forward to dessert, however they only had 1 option the evening we visited since their freezer broke down earlier in the day. We passed on dessert, but will definitely be back to hopefully try their homemade ice cream/gelato during a future trip. Service was also very friendly and welcoming. A must-visit whenever you're in the area--make a reservation while you can! Having only been open for a couple months now, I hope this place thrives so I can visit whenever I'm in the state. Absolutely incredible. I recommend going for the tasting menu if it's your first time to try their top dishes. You'll get at least one dish from each section of their menu. Everything was so delicious I barely have words for it. I left so full I'm glad we walked from our hotel! We went for our anniversary and our waitress gave us champagne on the house which was so sweet! We were sitting close enough to the kitchen to peak over and see them working. ~ gluten-free review ~ I have been to Cordelia twice since moving to Cleveland and I can only say great things about the restaurant. The ambience and inside is great for a friend dinner or date night even came here on Valentine's Day and the service was incredible even though it was very busy. My only feedback is that the gluten free options are pretty limited, however you still have one option with each of the mini sections and they are incredible! Another cute little restaurant in the gateway area, this place was packed but we managed to secure 7 seats at the bar where the whole menu is available. Something for everyone including the vegan in our party. We tried a variety of their offerings from fried chicken to a burger box to cauliflower to pork belly. All were unique and flavorful. I've been to Cordelia a few times now and I love the uniqueness and a few new items added every season. They have one of my favorite brunch menus especially the Shakshouka. For dinner, we tried some the ciders that were delicious and the classic bee's knees cocktail which was perfect. We always get the farmer's cheese and carrot muhammara which are fantastic. This time for dinner we tried the rib which was a little bit fatty but the beef carpaccio was perfection. And the burger box is a must order every time. What a cute restaurant tucked into E 4th in Cleveland. Wife & I did our date night here, and was not disappointed. We made reservations, but you could have walked in. Attentive & smiling staff greet you right when you walk in and ensure you don't wait long. The table settings are cute, and with a full bar, they've got pretty much any beverage you're gonna want. We had the sliders and jo-jos. What kind of date night food is that you ask?!? The kind the keeps you dreaming about their food even to this day. Absolutely insane flavors and the potatoes' crunch but tender insides just sang. I would go back for those alone. Great ambience, very cool space but the food is subpar at best. I really wanted to like this place. It's relatively new and the reviews on Google and Yelp are above four stars. Don't get me wrong, for an ambience or a cute dinner date with girlfriends, it might be fun but my husband and I are big on delicious tasting foods that are balanced in their tastes. None of the foods are horrible. The porkbelly was good but the burger was too greasy and felt overly salty and overbearing. The main issue with all the dishes was that it is so overpriced for what you're getting. I guess you're paying for the venue and atmosphere rather than the food. We didnt get drinks so i cant speak for them. From what the tables around us ordered, they looked good. Overall, fun place to try but we won't be going again. read more

Just finished eating here and wow it was incredible. The place is super cute and in the super fun location of e 4th st. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the hostesses. The place is very vibey with lots of eclectic decor. We ordered the snacks and relish tray, choosing 5 items, including the crispy chicken skin, carrot muhammara, farmer's cheese, thaxton's garlic, and the jammy eggs. I was so surprised at how much I loved the muhammara given that I don't really like carrots!! My boyfriend was licking up every last drop off the spoon. We also got the new school oysters which had some of the best mignonette I've ever had. We got the winter citrus salad to bring in some freshness to our meal and that might have been my favorite dish. The citrus was soooo fresh and sweet. While we were full, we still decided to take a peek at the dessert menu and ordered both the bowl of dirt and the butterscotch pudding, both of which had the perfect amount of sweetness and were absolutely divine. We were looking for a nice place with good food for a night out. So we reserved a table at Cordelia's to try their "modern grandma" menu. The initial impression when we walked in was positive. The look of the location was nice, but once we sat down, the ambient noise was so loud we couldn't easily hear each other and our server had to shout to be heard. He also spoke so fast we could barely understand him and didn't do a great job explaining the menu. Additionally, we sat directly under an air vent which was uncomfortable. We were willing to put up with the ambiance and ordered their Holy Trinity - Jammy Eggs, Carrot Muhammara and Farmer's Cheese. These were great although my southern grandma would have used a little more seasoning on the eggs. The drinks were the best part of the meal. The "A Forest" cocktail was particularly nice. I ordered the pork belly which came out with decent flavor but with no crisp and an overly flabby texture. I'm not sure how they intended to serve it but it was so fatty that I could only eat a bite or two of a fairly large serving before losing my desire for more. Between the loud, windy ambiance, the so-so service, and the amount of money we paid for a mostly bland (and sometimes unappetizing) meal, this probably isn't a restaurant we will visit again. read more

This place definitely lives up to the other great reviews!!My new favorite restaurant on 4th. We got the 3-appetizer deal and everything we chose was amazing. First we got the farmer cheese and it was UNREAL, I wish I could've gotten 3 portions of just that. The only thing is I wish they would've given us more bread (only one slice per person). Then we chose the jammy eggs. I'm not a huge egg person, especially runny eggs, but these were incredible!! so savory and delicious. Lastly we got the fried chicken bits. These were good but not my favorite, not sure I'd choose that one again. For our main course we got the burger box, fried chicken, and cauliflower dish, as well as the crispy taters for a side. Burger box: this dish was DELICIOUS. It was a huge portion and had a layer of crispy cheese and this pickle sauce that was to die for. It's definitely enough to share but it was so good I could've eaten it by myself. Cauliflower: I was not expecting this to be such a big portion. I was expecting more tapas style portions but this dish was extremely filling and flavorful. I'm not vegetarian but I would definitely get this again. Such a unique dish I was very impressed. Fried chicken: very tasty and less greasy than many other fried chicken dishes I've had. Would definitely get again. Overall, I had an amazing experience here. The atmosphere is great and we were able to sit outside and people watch. The service was great and very quick. It's a bit pricey but nothing more than the other restaurants in the area; in fact I'd rather spend my money here because the portions are fair compared to some places nearby. I had the honor and the pleasure of writing about Cordelia in the issue of Cleveland Magazine that named it the best new restaurant in Cleveland. As I wrote there, "While Cordelia describes its approach as 'Midwest nice,' we just call it some of the best food we've ever eaten." I've since been back multiple times, as Cordelia has become my favorite go-to spot for taking out-of-towers for dinner. I love that you can feel just as at-home dressed for a baseball game as decked out for a fancy anniversary or other special occasion. The Burger Box truly is the best burger in town, but my favorite thing on the menu is the carrot muhammara, which is unlike anything I've ever eaten before. Ran out of bread? Eat it with a spoon. It's that good. Whatever you get, save room for dessert, as Chef Ryan Boone's modern, level-up takes on your favorite childhood treats will have you feeling both nostalgic and extra-stuffed. If you can't decide, go for the granita. It never disappoints -- but then again, nothing at Cordelia ever does. read more

Went to Cordelia today to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was super excited because it's been on my list for quite awhile! Arrived at about 5 and it was pretty empty as was the area in general so luckily we found street parking easily and had our choice of seating at the restaurant. The weather was gorgeous so we sat outside. We wanted to try several things so here's what we got and what we thought: Chicharrones: meh..lacked flavor and tbh I've had better prepackaged from the gas station. Fried Chicken: tasty, crispy and fresh but not at all on my list of best or even remarkable fried chicken from a local Cleveland restaurant (SOHO on W. 25th puts it to shame) while definitely on the list of most pricey for portion. The skin was flavorful but the meat itself fell flat. I asked if they had hot sauce and the waiter said yes and returned with a maybe one ounce amount of hot sauce which I later learned was $2. I understand it's from a local company but can't recall whom however for me it was just as described "hot" and "sauce"; that's it. The chicken came with a side of house made pickled veggies that were delicious! So much so that I ordered another side (additional cost) to add to the salad that I'll describe next. Over dressed greens: I wanted some salad so this sufficed. The menu says "veg" so maybe I expected too much because it was lettuce, croutons and dressing. I ordered shaved onion to add (although the waiter initially told me they had none..until I mentioned there were shaved onions on my prawns so he reluctantly obliged), also at an additional cost. Jammy Eggs: sooo damn good and unique. I highly recommend. Smoked fish dip: very good and actually a decent portion of dip however far too few crackers for the amount of dip. We ordered extra crackers and while the waiter didn't advise in advance, it was an additional cost. I'm cool with that but it would have been nice to know first and they might need to reconsider the amount of crackers they provide with the dip order. Jojos: good and would likely order again. As mentioned the portion for price was off IMO...4 jojos (aka one potato cut into quarters) for $9. The aioli was tasty too. Grilled prawns: definitely the highlight of the meal for me. They were cooked to perfection and so flavorful with the perfect amount of char from the grill. We all really loved these. They come with a delicious olive oil based sauce that was soooo good with the side of bread I ordered (additional cost) which again is fine but also an inexpensive add they could make to upgrade the dish as a whole. Overall it was good just nothing to rave about and I was expecting rave worthy. I'd return to try some different things and for the prawns. Our waiter was inattentive and totally lack luster which also made the experience underwhelming. I'm not one to cut corners for good food; I literally live for it but I left here feeling like I'd been "nickel and dimed" for things that should have been considered in the general menu execution and not have had to be ordered separately. For reference we spent $130 ish before tip with no alcoholic drinks. read more

Delicious food! Nice small plates so you can try lots of different options. The best plate by far were the corn husks with miso butter. It's a little on the pricy side but delicious. Very nice server as well. The vibe is elevated grandma eats which definitely leant to a fun ambiance. read more

While the ideas for the food are good, however execution is poor.
