This was, without a doubt, the most disgusting meal I've had in recent memory. I ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich which came with a pickle slice and a bag of potato chips to go. It looked tasty, but after one bite I knew I had made a huge mistake. I was expecting a hot sandwich, but it was a cold one. Personal preference, nothing against the bakery here. The problem started with the piece of chicken on the sandwich. It had the consistency of jelly and was strangely very wet as if it had been stored in ice water or something. Overall, it could be described as "chicken-like" at best. There was supposed to be pesto mayo on the sandwich, but I couldn't detect any pesto flavor in the glob of mayo that had been slapped between the bread and the "chicken". There were tomato slices, but only on one half of the sandwich. There may be some decent items on the menu, but I won't be back to try any of them. read more

Food is pretty tasty no doubt. But...If you're going for a "Quick Lunch"....forget about it. I've purposely experienced this place at 11am, 1200pm, and 100pm. The sandwiches are delicious! Parking is pretty difficult, but that's the case for all restaurants in Westwood. It is a bit pricey, but you get a lot of food (pickles and chips with a sandwich). The guy who took our order was not super friendly, but the busboy Abel made up for that. Abel was very friendly and helpful! He really looked like he loves his job and cleaned up tables in a very efficient manner. We had a very good lunch experience! read more

My start group came here for lunch today. The Corner's Café seems to one on the higher end side. The inside of the café has plenty of spaces with an elegant feel. For food, I can't say I'm a big fan of it. I ordered the Pretzel Ham for $7 and it's such a tiny sandwich (not happy with the portion at all). The bread was too dry and it gave my gum a cut when I was eating it. The onion was too much and I am now stuck with a nasty onion breath. For service, the order came out very slow. I even had to walk up to grab my order instead of someone deliver it to the table. The waitress was a bit confused when delivering the order for my coworkers so I guess their delivery system hasn't been quite perfected yet. Overall, I would say come here for the environment, but not for the food. Random fact: My group saw Santa Claus eating a salad here. Good for him for eating healthy! read more

Presentation is key, and that's where you fail. On the exterior at least. It's called "Corner Bakery", and it's in the MIDDLE of the block. Two negative stars for false advertisement! On a happy note, the inside looks so appealing! On a sad note, it doesn't taste like it looks! Negative star for the quality! The breads, cookies, and all the other goods here taste artificial. You might as well buy a cookie from the counter, of a 7-11. It will be faster, cheaper, and the taste is equivalent. I've never been impressed with anything here. Ordered the Special Oatmeal with fruit, only to find out they no longer serve it (although it is prominently on their menu) yet the regular oatmeal was truly fabulous. Came in for lunch and although the customer service was pretty good (even during lunch rush in Westwood), the food was kinda greasy. I ordered a Mix & Match half sandwich and cup of soup with a chicken panini and chicken noodle soup. The panini was a good size (considering it was a half order) but the bread was not evenly toasted and it was greasy. I ended up taking chunks of it off the sandwich. The chicken noodle soup was salty and didn't have many veggies which is usually my favorite part of that soup. Having come from the East Coast, I wanted to find a Panera twin when I started going to UCLA, and Corner Bakery has definitely satisfied my panini/soup cravings on a weekly basis. Let it be known now that the establishment is not actually at a corner. I've always gotten the panini combo for the panini + side salad or side soup. I've always liked their chicken noodle, chicken tortilla, poblano corn chowder, and roasted tomato basil. Not a fan of the lentil. My favorite panini: Chicken Pomodori- roasted chicken, basil and spinach, oven-roasted tomatoes, and provolone cheese with pesto mayo on sourdough Club Panini - Hickory smoked turkey breast, crisp applewood smoked bacon, white cheddar cheese, and plum tomatoes with mayonnaise. What I will say is that the panini can be a bit oily or undercooked (not given enough time or not pressed well), as well as small in terms of portion size. Each plate comes with a pickle and a handful of chips, but you're at the mercy of their handfuls because I've sometimes had no chips at all. What keeps me from giving it four stars is this inconsistency, as well as the portion for the price. read more

Best way to get here is via public transportation or on foot. Service this morning was slow and staff don't seem to bother with cleanliness of tables and floors. The new pesto egg panini is not worth its value of $5.99 plus tax. It is only a greasy half sandwich filled eggs, mozzarella cheese, pesto sauce and two slices of tomatoes. Not to mention the arsenic burnt marks. I had to pick off half of the entire toast surface on both sides. The flavor is very average and can be easily replicated in the home kitchen. This was my second time eating at a Corner Bakery but the first time at this location. The food was ok but the woman at the counter, Raven, was very rude to me right from the start. I only had a 100 bill and she made sure to let me know how inconvenient this was. She came back to the register and said "I hope 5's are alright ".. After giving me my change, I corrected part of our order and she said she was thrown off by my large bill.. this was accompanied by a disapproving look and tone. If I wasn't with my teenage son I may have made a bigger deal of this but I am always shocked by exceptionally rude customer service. I'm torn between giving the Westwood Corner Bakery 3 or 4 stars because some of the entrees are overpriced and vomit inducing while others are heavenly. Food: One of the best no-brainer meals I can think of if you're near the medical center is calling in to Corner Bakery for the soup and sandwich combo with the chicken pomodori panini and a cup of tomato soup. Dip that panini into the soup and experience true sensory bliss. The other soups (choices of which rotate daily with the tomato being a constant) are okay. The chicken soup is pretty good. But the tomato... it's perfect. Not too salty and just the right amount of sweet. I would avoid the pastas with cream sauce, especially the pesto cavatappi, as their idea of creamy is watered down milk products. Atmosphere: It's quiet and relaxing inside. I enjoy the large display cases with sumptuous breads, cakes, and other desserts beckoning you as you order. Actually, no. Stop that. It's kind of annoying. Service: One time they got my order wrong TWICE while I was getting takeout. I had to walk about a mile two times to exchange my sandwich. I went to the Corner Bakery Cafe a couple of months ago for the first time and it was a very very pleasant and fulfilling experience. Of course, being a bakery, they have a selection of baked goods, but also dishes like pasta, breakfast platters, and paninis! When I went I got a breakfast plate and my boyfriend got the Chicken Pesto Pasta. Well I finished my breakfast plate easily and moved onto his pasta because it was humongous (also because he's a pansy ass). He also bet me that I couldn't finish my plate and his leftovers in one sitting, and guess what? I DID (I didn't know whether to be proud or embarrassed by my beast like eating habits). Came in here on a Wednesday at noon with the bf simply because we've seen this restaurant all over the place in Southern California and was just too curious to resist stopping in. I would say it's pretty standard food for a chain and the soup/salad and soup/sandwich combos are pretty convenient for us indecisive diners. I got the chicken tortilla soup and the harvest salad with roasted chicken and my overall impression was: not bad. The chicken tortilla soup was good but nothing to write home about and the harvest salad (apples, walnuts, blue cheese) would have been 4 star had it not been completely drenched in dressing. Lesson learned: dressing on the side! Overall, if you're in the area and something on the menu catches your eye - why not. My friends rave about this place. I finally tried it out a few weeks ago and it was a pretty good experience. Super packed around lunch, but tables turn over quickly and we were able to find seats without hovering over people who were still eating. The noise level drops dramatically when it's not peak lunch or dinner hour and the cafe becomes a great little study spot. The servers kept refilling our drinks and there was no sign of them trying to get us to leave. The food here is reasonably priced, for Westwood anyway. I got a pasta/salad combo and it was tasty! The portion wasn't giant, but it was definitely enough to send me into food coma city. I also tried some of my friend's chicken salad sandwich, which was also delicious. Came here after one long week away from civilization... I've been here before, but never actually had the food. This time, I was starving so I got the Chicken Carbonara pasta, entree-size. It comes with a piece of garlic bread! The pasta itself was average to above-average -- nothing in particular stood out, but it was deliciously creamy and I didn't really feel that it was lacking in chicken or flavor. The atmosphere of this place is really nice, it's sort of like a diner/cafe' feel but nicer; it feels very clean, at least to me. Denny's always feels grungy/dirty to me for some reason... This place has been a great addition to westwood. Although it's a chain, it's nicely nestled in on Westwood Blvd and seems to fit the community nicely. If you've never been to a CBC, they anchor ona warm and cold sandwiches, mostly serving the brunch/lunch crowd. They've got some soups, salads, & pastas to supplement. Every single dessert they have is moist and delicious. They also have a great catering oepration. I like the ambiance and I could sit for hours. It gets really insane between 11:45 and 1pm, so go early or late if you want to lounge a bit. Free wifi ftw. They have indoor and outdoor seating; the outdoor seating is in direct sun during lunch and diners the sidewlak traffic is a bit much. I much prefer indoors. Lastly, I've never recieved bad service here. From the order-takers to the bus staff, everyone is always smiling and cracking innocent jokes ("You said no mayo? Ok, extra mayo for you my dear.") All in all, when I have lunch meetings with off-campus partners and group, this is where I take them. Slam dunk. My fiance and I went to Corner Bakery for lunch. I was amazed with the wide menu selection...sandwiches, soups, salads, pastas, baked goods. Everything looked so good, I didn't know what to order. We both ended up ordering the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup combo (includes chips)...chicken pomodori panini and cheesy broccoli soup...for only $6.99. Their cheesy broccoli soup is the best!!! While eating, we were already planning our next visit two days later...we would have gone the next day, but we already had lunch plans. The second and third time was just as good. Everything that we've tried so far has been great. Every time I come to LA, I now crave Corner Bakery! read more
