This place is pretty good to stop by for a quick lunch, dinner, or take-out. The menu offers a fairly wide selection of sandwiches and soups. Their paninis are always delicious and crispy. The chicken pomodori panini is the saving grace of this whole place. Since moving out of Westwood, I crave this sandwich all the time and definitely stop by whenever I get the chance to visit. it's not on a corner! ha! Went here with an old friend the other day for lunch and boy was it busy. But we managed to find a table. Been here before, so was revisiting the place after a long while. Ordered the mom's sandwich combo - turkey and mixed greens. it was a-ok. like a homemade sandwich...something i could've thrown together. but hey, it was supposedly one of the healthier sandwiches on the menu. and the salad was tasty. I come here all the time for lunch, I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. This place is walking distance from work and it's cheap, so it makes a great lunch spot. This place is solid, but I wouldn't choose to eat here if it wasn't so convenient. My favorite salad is the Spinach Sweet Crisp Salad. I also enjoy their soups and sandwiches. However, I noticed lately that their greens are no longer very fresh. Some of the greens are wilted, and I would push those to the side. One time I tried their new kale salad, and some of the kale was yellow. I don't know if it's a change in management or it's something that I'm just now noticing. It's a great place to study, with big tables (if you can get one) and free wi-fi. I'll still come here for lunch during work, despite my complaints simply because it's convenience, good price, and not too bad taste. Food quality is good. I like their chopped salad, various soups, and the berry almond Swiss oatmeal. If you like sweets they have plenty of those. Diabetics should stick to the salad and gf allergists should stay away. Anyway, service is inconsistent, but not bad. If you're sick of the UCLA Westwood medical cafeteria food, this is a nice alternative for breakfast, lunch, or dinner for long term hospital visitors. Went here because LA has a non-existent (or hard to find) brunch scene. Ordered the all American scrambler and a truffle mocha. The coffee was terrible, I had it sent back to get a regular coffee (which was ok). The eggs were slightly better than cafeteria style, and came with potatoes instead of the fruit I asked for. Sent it back to get the sausage that came with the order, and fruit (which was the best part of the meal). I never got my damn sausage. read more

Corner Bakery Cafes are a chain of restaurants similar to Le Pain Quotidien. The comfortable seating and atmosphere brings a varied customer base of students, business people and bored Bel-Air housewives. When I used to work in Westwood and order my lunch to go, Corner Bakery was usually my top choice. We all know how much food suffers when it is not served immediately or whether it'll even survive the journey from restaurant to desk. But it's hard to completely dismantle a sandwich in a to-go container. My favorites are the DC Chicken Salad on Steakhouse Rye and the Chicken Pesto on Ciabatta. The chicken salad has large identifiable chunks of chicken with light dressing and raisins. The crisp green apples add variety in texture, a satisfying crunch to an otherwise squishy salad. My one complaint about the sandwich is its difficulty in eating. I found myself reaching for the fork to finish off the remaining pieces of chicken. The chicken pesto on the other hand, doesn't suffer from this lack of cohesiveness. The appeal of Corner Bakery is not its uniqueness, there are a million other bakery cafes, but in its familiarity. A wide chain like this must be popular to continue expanding. The public has spoken, and Corner Bakery is in. read more

Oh UCLA what a bummer. I got accepted for undergraduate- didn't go b/c I hate the Westwood village area of LA. Got accepted for law school- visited a second time- didn't go- didn't want to have to deal with the Westwood area. Came back for the first time in ages w/ dad for father's day weekend. Had lunch here. Oh Westwood. At least when I'm in Santa Monica or Downtown I feel like I'm someplace. We must have hit the post-graduation rush, because after getting into line, ordering, and loafing around at a table for another 40 minutes staring vacantly at large congregated families (of varying degrees of amiability), we finally got our food--two sandwiches and a salad & soup. It sounds like difficult stuff to assemble--40 minutes? really?--and I'm sure it would have been worth the hour total wait, except that it tasted like food that I could have gotten at Curbside for half the price. Next time I come back (if that ever happens), it will have to be when there's no line and when the kitchen can keep up with the orders. I've eaten here three times and now I'm convinced that it's nothing more than a superficially charming experience; it's nicely themed like a Disney building on Main Street but the food is so unexciting. I find the salads to be totally DULL and the soups are only slightly better. Sandwiches are sort of between the salads and soups on the excitement scale. Had the worst experience here today. Ordered a salted caramel latte and a bagel with cream cheese and had to wait 15 minutes before they brought out the bagel. And they still didn't have my coffee, so I showed my server the receipt to prove that it was still missing. 5 minutes later (after 20 minutes of waiting), they brought out...a pumpkin spice latte. Not even what I wanted. This is ridiculous. They were busy today but it shouldn't take 15 minutes to toast a bagel. I have always loved Corner Bakery Cafe but this place was alright ish. The food was DELICIOUS as always and there pricing isn't that bad. I'm only giving 3 stars because my dad and I waited for the food for 30-40 minutes. After twenty minutes of waiting, we got kind of impatient and asked the server where our food was, and he said that it was coming in a few minutes. Ten minutes later, the waiter came up to us and asked for our receipt so he can go into the kitchen to check up on our order. Five minutes passed and our order finally came out. I got a egg sandwich this morning and was completely unimpressed by the end result. The Anaheim Scramble sandwich has cheddar, onions, tomato, bacon and avocado. With these ingredients on sourdough bread should be flavorful instead it was bland. The cheese was flavorless they should put sharp cheddar on or at least a high enough quality cheese to add more than goo and grease. Honestly the best part was the toasted bread. Two suggestions: 1) pay attention to clearing and bussing tables during the lunch rush, and 2) work with your Chamber of Commerce about the homeless issue in the neighborhood. I have passed by this place many times in different areas.... I finally decided to eat there and what a disappointment!! I order a sandwich that was supposed to have egg, spinach, cheese and avocado!!! The picture right above the register looked so good... It sold me.... The avocado was the reason I chose this sandwich... First off... There was no avocado in my sand motto speak of and second, the spinach was just cold unseasoned spinach... I just had the worst corner bakery experience ever on this Sunday morning in this location. Ordered two breakfast items and a coffee to go but two out of four coffee containers were running out. There were only decaf and hazelnut flavored which I don't drink. Told to several staff there about coffee and waited for 30 minuets, still no coffee! Had to ask the cashier for refund because I was told the coffee is still brewing. Came back home, opened the food I ordered, one Anaheim panini - only a slight trace of avocado in it, not mentioning I was ordering Anaheim scrambler originally but was told running out of potatoes so had to switch to the panini. Also for the other item, the berry almond oatmeal, there is no bread with it! All these are supposed to be the signature dishes of Corner Bakery.
