Went for breakfast on a Monday and couldn't recommend this place more. I got the corn beef hash with a biscuit. The biscuit was a bit hard but maybe just because we went right before their breakfast service ended. They have mimosas that they serve in a pint glass with little juice, so plan to be super fun and not productive the rest of the day The lunch menu looked amazing (I requested a glimpse before we left). They take an hour off between meal servings - breakfast until 10:30, lunch starting at 11:30 and there was a line just before 11:30. This gap of time was really neat to see as it allowed the staff to grab a bite and sit for a moment, try the specials and get the details. Mad props to a business that takes care of their people. read more

If you're staying in Asheville and are looking for a nice dinner that is prepared by a chef then you should check this place out. I had the fish of the day and my wife had the pork shank which was unbelievably tender. Dinner starts at 5PM and the restaurant is basically a house which has been converted into a restaurant. I was very happy with the entire experience. They have some nice bourbons to choose from. They have wine as well, however, I don't know much about wine other than I don't drink it! I think for the two of us it was around $130ish and it was definitely worth every penny. I will not hesitate to go back here next time I am in Asheville. read more

Service is incredible. Food is underwhelming, particularly for the price. Fillet mignon can be compared to average box store steak joints like Longhorn or Roadhouse. Atmosphere is non-existent, but that matters not to me. read more

Went here to celebrate our anniversary. Brunch food was great! I had peach salad with shrimp hubby had artichoke taurine with shrimp. Both were excellent right portion priced right. Our server was busy but very attentive. Nothing fancy but a clean cozy setting. Made reservations glad we did probably would recommend doing so. Will have to try dinner here sometime. read more

Great little place for lunch on a rainy afternoon. It is not great for large groups. While there a large group of 25 people arrived. The corner has that small restaurant vibe. A cute place that serves southern style food. I had the BLT and it was decent. We ordered calamari for the table and there was not much on the plate. A bit delayed from our trip at the beginning of May, but this restaurant scores top marks on everything from food, environment, and service. No surprise this was one of the best rated restaurants in Asheville!! First, the food. Our server, Michelle, made some fantastic suggestions, and I highly recommend you listen to whatever your server suggests. I opted for two small plates instead of an entree, because I just couldn't decide. Picture here are the Moroccan lamb stew with Israeli couscous (jaw-droopingly amazing), and the Duck Tartine (I basically never eat duck!) with blueberry gelée. Such innovative and outstanding flavor pallets. Also, they had a glass of Blanton's bourbon which is nearly impossible to get here in Cincinnati these days. I was overjoyed. And the prices were all super reasonable!! Price-wise, expect entrees to be around $30, starters $15, desserts $10. Factor in drinks as you will to get a good understanding of your price range for the evening. As for customer service, I can't rave enough about our server, Michelle. Amazing recommendations, but she even took it upon herself to send us home with a dessert to-go because she knew we were too full but still wanted us to have the change to try it. Compassionate, funny, lovely to have conversations with... if you get in this girl's section, you will be well taken care of! Definitely don't miss on talking to her about her classroom/students if you get places with her. Wouldn't hesitate to go back to Corner Kitchen, even for another 2.5 day trip to Asheville! read more

The waiter was phenomenal, attentive, and friendly. He walked us through the menu as it was our first time. The food was to die for. It was so good!! It was on the pricier side, but we were aware of that before ordering. The mimosa was also great and very strong. We had the best time at this cozy restaurant! It gets busy, I would recommend making a reservation in advance. There is street parking, so be prepared to have to walk a block or so after parking. The food is so worth it! We had the falafel wrap and the chef's daily special - a seafood dish. It was all truly amazing. Our server was so friendly and prompt. Was here in Asheville NC with my daughter over the weekend. Everyone we talked to really like this place. It's in a house so had character which was nice. Nice homey restaurant. Food is different then your regular American food. There is wide selection of wine and drinks so any one can find his/her favorite! Food tased good and service was great and quick even at 6:30-7pm. Parking on street is limited but we were able to find a spot. My friends and I went for linner here one afternoon during our time in Asheville!! We were all VERY impressed. We were a big group, so we got a wide variety of things off the menu... no one had any complaints. I personally split the roasted portobello sandwich w/ a side of feta potato salad and half the winter squash vindaloo. Both the plates very SO good and very flavorful!! Even a half meal was a ton of food.. very good serving sizes!! The servers were quick, attentive, and so kind! It was the coziest, most delicious meal on a cold snowy day. I love everything about this place. Our server was the kindest woman in the world and so welcoming and accommodating. I love that they give you a little "bite" while you wait for your meal. The pork chop was incredible and HUGE! Highly recommend. They also have a great wine and cocktail list and the ambiance is amazing. It's an old house turned restaurant and I love it. I absolutely love Corner Kitchen. I found it by searching on Yelp and it has become a staple for lunch every time I go to Asheville. Their crab corn chowder is absolutely delicious, with a side of mixed greens and a small charcuterie sampling. It's plenty of food and the kind of food you find yourself still nibbling well after the meal when you're sitting and talking with friends. Service is always excellent as well! read more

It was excellent! Very clean and the staff was so nice. Our waiter was Matt. He was perfect, treated us so special and he explained the specials so that we wanted each one. But we only ordered one, the egg omlet dish, superb and the French toast, yummy and eggs on the side. Great size if dishes too. The coffee was deliscious. You must go here. We ate here our first night in Asheville and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was causal and cozy in an old house, the staff was helpful and attentive, and I can't stress how amazing the food was!! We started with a bowl of corn and crab chowder and fried pickled green tomatoes topped with a tangy crab salad. It was wonderful! Then we ordered the pecan crusted trout, a classic that stays on their menu despite other seasonal changes, and it was wonderful. My mom said it was the best fish she had ever had. I ordered the volcano pork shank and WOW. The meat was so tender, the sauce was amazing, and the purée was flavored incredible with an amazing texture. Highly recommend this place!!! read more

I can't rave enough about this restaurant. The food, service, staff. It's a well run establishment and the teamwork is phenomenal! Went for lunch, and our server Crystal was exceptional. The next day, we went back for dessert and sat by the kitchen. Our server was exceptional again, forgot her name. Crystal from yesterday stoped by to say hello. Lunch was grilled chicken sandwich and fried green tomato sandwich. Dessert was the chocolate mousse OMG yumo, and Baileys coffee. If you're in Asheville this is a must go to! read more

Stopped at the Country Kitchen and sat at the bar with Ali...she was a pleasant edition to the beginning of my birthday weekend. She gave us lots of tips for Asheville and served up great service and craft cocktails. She recognized my birthday and topped it of with the cinnamon roll bread pudding which puts all others to shame. Delicious is an understatement. Definitely a stop while in Asheville. read more

I wanted to explore Biltmore Village so Corner Kitchen sounded like a great place to get Sunday brunch and then take a walk! The restaurant is in a charming house with fun local paintings and photographs on the walls. Since we made reservations, we were seated right away upstairs. I ordered the Biscuit Bennies, with ham, poached egg, hollandaise served with grits. The grits were nice and creamy. My husband tried the corned beef hash, which I highly recommend. The best part of the meal was the locally made berry jam that came on the side. Great service and beautiful location! read more

Two words....FRIED CHICKEN! Flew into Asheville on a Sunday morning and decided to stop here for breakfast. We got there right when they opened at 9:00 a.m. and were the first people there. It filled up really fast though, so I recommend making a reservation. I had the fried chicken for breakfast. I was really hungry. I substituted the sides it usually comes with for some cheesy scrambled eggs. The fried chicken was seriously the best I've ever had. The chicken was extremely moist and flavorful (they soak it in buttermilk), and the skin was so crispy and never got soggy and it had an amazing flavor to it with the most perfect spices. The eggs were also delicious. Service was wonderful. I had a great experience here and if I'm ever in Asheville again, I will definitely be stopping by again. Corner Kitchen is a casual upscale restaurant specializing in traditional American food. We are open for brunch and dinner, 7 days a week. Our menu features local ingredients from many local farms and growers. We also have a full bar featuring local beers and liquors.

History

Established in 2004.

Corner Kitchen was started in 2004 by Joe Scully and Kevin Westmoreland. We wanted to make the freshest Southern American food with a bit of twist. Our goal was to give locals and visitors to Asheville, and specifically Biltmore Village a chance to experience handcrafted food from local providers, whether at lunch or dinner. We survived two hurricanes and flooding (as did the rest of Historic Biltmore Village) in 2004, and in 2009 the President and First Lady chose us for one of their meals on their vacation to Asheville. Most recently we continue to survive a Pandemic!

Meet the Business Owner: Joe S.

Joe is the Chef/Owner of two of Asheville's most distinctive and popular food operations: Corner Kitchen and Chestnut. Corner Kitchen opened its doors in February 2004 and was a hit from day one. Once the citizens of Asheville realized that they could experience top-notch food and service in a casual and unpretentious setting, there was little doubt that Corner Kitchen would become an institution in our little mountain city. In 2014, Joe and Kevin decided to open their second restaurant, Chestnut, in downtown Asheville. Both Corner Kitchen and Chestnut use many local farmers, butchers, and food crafters to keep the food authentic and to continue a tradition on hand-wrought and sensible preparations.

WORSE service ever. We are new in Asheville and today we were very excited about this place. Sadly service was awful. To be fair, the hostess was very nice but, the server, Alex was plain horrible. Try to avoid being served by him. He was obviously fake at everything he did. Basically every single order was wrong. He never paid attention to anything that we said. When my meal arrived was wrong, so I ate the side soup and asked for my actual meal. He said I'll fix it ASAP. Right. He only went to the kitchen after I called him, after of almost 40'. He didn't check our tables not even once. At the beginning of the dinner I order to go and he said will be ready before we finish our dinner. Nope, didn't happen. We have to wait another 30+ minutes for our to-go orders. All this messy and horrible service and I have to see this guy making fun of us asking to his coworker if we were looking at him? Yes, we are not deaf!! We heard that! And we wanted more drinks that is why we wanted his attention, your awful service ruined our night. We shouldn't even have tipped you but, we did. To make it worse, the to go order was also WRONG and the sandwiches were almost EMPTY, just mushrooms and lettuce. Like really??? I am sure wasn't a kitchen mistake. I wouldn't post this but, after I opened the to-go boxes we've had enough. To the owner: I am a restaurant owner as well, this is why I am doing this also. People like this one, might ruin your business. Once, can happen. Twice, be aware. Three times, should be a good bye. Enjoyed Sunday brunch with my fiancé during a little getaway weekend. We started early, around 9:15am, and they were really getting full by the time we left so I would recommend reservations. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself is located in a house built in the 1880s as part of the initial Biltmore village for estate employees so cool for local history buffs as well. Highly recommend the smoked salmons locks--very fresh with beautiful presentation. Highly recommend and we'll be back next time we're in town. read more

I was in Asheville last week and went to lunch here with four girlfriends. I had a wonderful lavender scented chicken salad. My ginger mojito was yummy as well. Makers Mark, homemade ginger syrup, bitters and a splash of soda water. It was so unusual. We had a long wait for a table but decided to wander a few doors down to do a little shopping till our table was ready. Sat out on the patio on a lovely , warm afternoon. I was hoping to use Corner Kitchen for my wedding but Methinks not! They had a call with me and promised me the world - a detailed proposal, a timeline template, customized attention - I got none of it. I waited for over a month for a proposal and just got an email with yet another excuse as to why they cannot get it to me. Apparently they provide service to upcoming event and cannot handle paperwork for new events at the same time. I am very disappointed I wasted my time. read more

Well worth the wait!! I stopped in for brunch for one on a Saturday. It was a good 30 min wait, and I almost left. I'm so glad I did not leave. The service? Fantastic! The menu? Creative! The atmosphere? Hometown cozy and warm. The food? Delicious! There is this homemade jam, blueberry, blackberry and raspberry that you must try either on a homemade muffin or in the signature mimosa. This is probably my pick of the best hidden gem in the Asheville around the Biltmore Estate area. The food is incredibly fresh tasting and rivals any farm to market high end restaurant. I sat at the bar area watching the chefs working their magic. They were definitely a well oiled machine that produced top quality food. Dinner was very good! The cosmopolitan measurements were slightly off and it was super sour but they did chill the martini glasses so that adds some bonus points for sure. The charcuterie plate was absolutely delicious I just felt it was lacking for the price. It needed a larger portion of the cheeses for $25 and also more crostini.
