I must start out by saying, wood fire pizza is probably my favorite food and though their pizza might not be the very best wood fire pizza in town I keep coming back again and again. Partly I enjoy that its Phinney's wood fire pizza place and I love supporting a neighborhood joint. Also, atmosphere is really important to me and I love how cozy this place is, it reminds me of being at a pizzeria in New York and its so fun squeezing together on a romantic date. There's also a nice patio in back if you need some extra space or have a larger party. The Ridge is just kitty-corner from this place, but I enjoy going to both places for different reasons. I recently had the pleasure of stumbling upon Cornuto after a day of paddling on Greenlake. It was barely five o'clock and easily 93 degrees outside and we just wanted a place that would have us and our puppy for some snacks and drinks. This ended up being the perfect spot! Our server (((Erin))) was so welcoming and accommodating. She showed us to the back patio and said to sit anywhere we liked. We settled ourselves in and no sooner than we sat down she had a BIG bowl of water for my hot and thirsty doggie. Adult beverages followed, as did a beautiful burrata and tomato salad, beet (yes beet) carpaccio, and buffula pizza. All were delicious--very simple and not heavy handed. The main thing I want to stress about this place was how absolutely genuine and wonderful our server was...we were still in soaking wet clothes and not looking our best but we were treated like we were regulars! Should note though we both recognized the use of quality ingredients. The wines by the glass pours are slight. Mostly because of the tiny glasses they use. Next visit we'll try the house 1/2 liter. This is one of my two favorite pizza places in Seattle, both Neapolitan. If you like that style of pizza (sounds like some of the reviewers don't), this is the genuine article. Their happy hour is awesome, $5 for any of three 9" pies iirc. They have always had a vegan pizza on there for those aspiring vegans who cannot give up pizza. Plus a meat one and a margherita. The crust is a great texture, chewy and bubbly. The pizzas cook for 2-3 minutes in a wood burning oven. The ingredients are quality. The salad is a little weak but not worth docking a star over. I love the atmosphere alone. All the dark wood, dim lighting and sparks of white candle light here and there. I'm a fan of the wood fired, I tend to keep going back for the peperoni. Loaded with small discs of spicy peperoni and just enough cheese, light on the sauce. I add on the pepper oil. YUM! The house craft cocktails are really tasty. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Greenwood. It's almost always a last minute choice, but it always feels like a special date night. Ambiance is lovely and cozy. Pizza is top-notch. Simple, authentic ingredients, and very reasonably priced. My husband and I usually split a pizza and a salad. They also have an awesome happy hour. First of all, you have to know that I work at the Vita right next door :) Cornutos has a classy feel but a with a fun loving twist. All of the staff members are a hoot and both the red heads are spicy! They are all so friendly and inviting. Food: Most importantly, the pizza is delicious and it is a classic italian style, so dont come here expecting dominos or pizza hut. Make sure to take a look at the menu because they have more than just pizza. Drinks: The drinks are affordable and tasty. I am more of a beer drinking guy so you will have to try it out for yourself. The pizza here is really good. Thin chewy crust, not overly greasy, and the prosciutto cotto makes everything better. They also have a bottle of chili-infused olive oil which works on every pizza. The pasta is not good. The linguine vongole had marinara sauce instead of white wine which seemed wrong. I love when you go somewhere and it is just so unexpectedly pleasant that you can't wait to come back. That is the exact experience I had. Our service was excellent, our pizza was superb, prices were reasonable(except alcohol) and the atmosphere was perfect. The pizza is very much like Tutta Bella, you can just have one to yourself. We had an appetizer with somekind of creamy mushroom situation on top of crostini which I could eat every day. And our pizza maker came by to ask how it was. Neat. I went to Cornuto on a Thursday just in time for happy hour. I had been craving neapolitan pizza after recently watching a documentary on Netflix. We began by ordering a $12.00 Carafe of House red wine, which is out of character for me because I am a beer drinker typically, but the wine did not disappoint. We ordered the Carbonara and Dante pizzas, both of which satisfied my neapolitan craving. To top the night off our server brought me a digestive and Tiramisu cake with a candle on it because he had over heard conversation with my GF and I that it was my birthday. Charming, cozy, decor. Apparently we were the first to sit in a booth in the expanded side. Week night, and over on that side, ended up private dining. Which is rather nice when you're with your other half that you're still crazy about. Don't expect that to happen all the time, though, because they have awesome pizza and the tiramisu is YUM. I'm sure they expanded because they've been overflowing. Just a minor pick. Many places we go (we love pizza) particularly when they have bars, have pretty much endless refills of soda. I'm sure many are just hooked up to a "hose" at the bar (on tap, basically), because it'll be used often. Even diet coke, which is what my man orders. This was one can. Just a can. And over ice (poured for him, which would be nice except...) when he asked for no ice. But the can is warm, so I'm sure the guy had it in his head that no one wants warm soda. No big. (Service was very friendly, btw. Good stuff.) Like I said, minor perhaps, but at the same time, when you get a good price for your food (AND BOOZE), most places can toss out something like soda as if it were water, since it's not your money maker in the first place. It practically is water. Why do I even bring it up? I was told this place kicked Tutta Bella's butt. They are so very similar I don't know that I can say that. Cornuto is a bit thinner crust (not complaining) and maybe some different topping styles. Love both pizza places. Cornuto DOES have cozier dining (well, compared to the location of Bella's I've been to). But Tutta Bella treats soda like water. Capisce? The pizza was really mediocre at best. The crust was limp and completely without texture or bite. You might as well put pizza toppings on a flour tortilla. Only it would be better if you made your own that way, because you'd probably put a little more cheese. They really skimped. And they had the audacity to charge $16 for this. I give an extra star for a really decent house red wine, a Montepulciano that was quite good, and for a friendly server. But I won't go back. The service is always good. Due to its size you really cannot go there with more than 4 people which is limiting. Best pizza I've had in a long time, and especially in the United States. Not your typical New York or Chicago style pizza, but much similar to the European style pizza's I enjoyed when I lived in Germany for 8 years, and traveled much all of the continent, sampling pizzas in several different countries at various bistros and cafes. Very fresh, tasty and well-matched ingredients, and, (IMHO, that which can make or break a pizza...) a fabulous crust that was baked to perfection.
