We saw this place walking home the night before and decided we needed to come back for lunch the next day. I'm so glad we did! This was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a really long time. I am a sucker for deli's and when I lived in Cow Hollow, Corsagna Deli was one of my go to spots. The place is super small and is only to-go (there are two tables right out front if you want to eat your food right away). So I'm feeling a bit shameful for not giving a review to this awesome deli before today, like way before today, but I don't think it matters because the name and food seem to speak for themselves. I was introduced to the wonderful Chef's Salad and array of sandwiches by the CEO I supported at the time (holy moly ... going to age myself here) 20+ years ago. I long ago left that job and moved out of the neighborhood but I find myself goin back there for the salad. I don't know what they put in it but the tuna salad is an amazing complement to their chef's salad which has artichokes (big chunks of it not some teeny tiny leaves of), three beans, broccoli, tomatoes and romaine lettuce. I got the meatball sandwich and it was pretty good and tasty. Just needed a late lunch snack. I got a Pellegrino soda. I interacted with cashier who is the owner's daughter. Corsanga Deli is a relatively unknown spot, yet one that delivers incredible sandwiches. I've been working in the Marina District for a few months now, and discovered this spot one day walking back to the office after grabbing lunch elsewhere. It's this small looking spot that really only has room for 5 or so people inside. I was craving a sandwich, and this happens to be one of the few places in the area where you can grab a good ole' deli made sandy. The ingredients are fresh here, the menu has plenty of options, the service is fantastic and last but not least, the prices are phenomenal. I ordered myself a Turkey sandwich on the sliced white bread with everything on it (tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, mustard, onions, banana peppers). It was pure perfection. Sometimes you just want to go out and enjoy a simple lunch, nothing fancy or over complicated, and these guys do it just right. Other than serving up delicious food, they also have other miscellaneous items that make this place even more of a hidden gem than it already is. Do you like Gelato pops? Guess what, this place has Gelato pops! They are freaking amazing, especially on a warm day. Final verdict: Corsanga Deli is a hidden gem. Other than your regular Union Street crowd, it's a spot you probably never heard of. Since the entire order process (taking the order, making it, packing it, ringing up the customer) takes three to five minutes, if there are three people ahead of you, settle in for a 10-15 minute wait. Short staffing also means errors and bad moods behind the counter. I've visited perhaps eight times over three years and have experienced missing drinks and containers messily placed upside down in the bag. I've also learned that small + local does not equal friendly. Food quality is fine (I like the meatball sandwich) but nothing more.
