The owner was completely indifferent about customers, and seemed always to be busy tinkering instead of managing or engaging customers. Total inconsistency. Practically had to chase staff down to get help at the deli counter. Last time I was there the staff member tried to sell me old, grey meat (which should be a deep red if fresh). No prices listed. $7 for a bottle of water. Completely confused seating. It was a total CF. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did. It was a Master Class on how NOT to run an Italian restaurant/market, which seems strange when a great success story, Andreoli's, is right around the corner. So this was a HUGE disappointment. My husband and I went there today 6/14 around 2:30 pm. The sign on the door, Google, AND their website all said they were open Saturdays from 10:00 am-9:00pm but when we pulled up the doors were locked. No sign on the door saying they were closed or "private event" or anything. First time last night to this new-ish Italian restaurant in Scottsdale. Charming place, outstanding menu. Not a large restaurant, so I'm not sure why it took 20-25 minutes for our 3-drink order to be filled. The Corso Italia Martini was excellent and the Cocciante Margarita was a fun take on a margarita. The Fritto Misto was supposed to be shrimp and calamari, but really was 90% calamari (which was good). Definitely needs more than 2 shrimp. The Tortellini Gratinati was terrific, as were the Linguini Con Aragosta (lobster), the mushroom soup and the beet salad. The pork Milanese special was fine if a bit dry. Carrot cake was very good. We will be back as there are a number of interesting dishes on this menu and the staff, while a bit inattentive, were very kind. read more

I did a review about Corso's fine dining room. I came back for lunch in their market. It is just my new favorite destination. The dining room for special occasions, and the market for lunch. Next up: trying the coffee bar. The staff cannot be friendlier or more accommodating. The vibe is just wonderful. It's ironic because I'm vegan, and I'm surrounded by the fresh meats, cheeses, and desserts that I will never consume, but there's also pastas and sauces and delicacies like artichokes and olives. You can purchase Italian ingredients for your own cooking. It's elegant and sophisticated. No blaring music. A little slice of heaven Scottsdale. read more

The food was ok, I had the meatball panini which I was expecting to be more panini like but it was some meatballs, red sauce in crunchy Italian bread. It was hard to eat and missing any cheese. It tasted fresh but not a lot of flavor. Normally this would be an easy 3 star but...the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I said water, she said plain or sparkling, I chose sparkling. Ooops. She brought out a bottle and I guess I should've stopped her. I bottle of fiuggi water and was charged $7! What?! The sandwich was $14 and you charged $7 for one bottle of water that retails for $3?! I'm hoping Corso will become more consistent. I think they are shorthanded. We had dinner here with friends January 9. We all loved it. Food was very good. We returned with friends for dinner on January 30.. Service was very slow, but we were talking a lot. My pasta came out lukewarm. It wasn't hot. I did not send it back. Someone had the stuffed pork said it was OK but not outstanding but he loved the Caesar Salad and the other two diners were happy with their dinners. I love coming here and picking up their in-house made bread. It is outstanding. I really hope Corso can make it in this location as ingredients used are fresh and pasta homemade (I believe. ) the friends we dined with January 9 return to Corso because they liked it so much and sent me a message saying that they were disappointed, but will give them another chance. read more

A well thought out menu with all authentic Italian dishes. The dining area is inviting and even though there is open space, noise level is low. We had the calamari which was light and tasty, beef carpaccio which was tender and flavorful and my entree was branzino with skin on and just melts in your mouth. They have a variety of salamis, proscuittos, ham, mortadella, cheese - reasonable prices for being from Italy. Courteous service, sliced & packaged beautifully like it should be. Oh Corso I had hopes. But you've failed miserably. -Service-absolutely chaotic. Numerous servers running around clueless. Slow on getting drinks, you have to ask for bread and butter ($6) and plates for appetizers. Only one who had a clue was Chad. -Drinks-$2 additional for blue cheese stuffed olives $19!! GTFOH. My buddy wanted a beer..they ran out of Peroni and only other option was a import dark beer nobody had heard of -Food-Omg do not order oysters smelled like dead fish and I spit them out. Sent back. My gf ordered the Orenchetti and it was like dipped in the ocean so salty! I ordered chicken parm and they don't put anything else with as a side you need to order separately. It was avg. We ate dinner here twice. Food is great and authentic Italian. However, both times, my family and I were seated in the back by the bar next to dirty dishes and bar cleaning equipment. There's hardly any lighting in the back corner and it's a tight space. Dining room was empty both times. We are always very well dressed but our ethnicity might be why they won't seat us in the main dining room. We didn't bother to ask for a different table because we got the point. Let me begin where all great Italian meals do: the bread. Dio mio! It arrived warm and crusted to perfection, served with an emerald pool of Visconti olive oil that is so delicious, one could drink a shot-glass of the herbaceous nectar kissed by the songs the Italian sun sings. But this was merely the overture for mean where every single item is made from scratch under the careful supervision of Chef Corrado. Five of us shared an order of the Spaghetti all'Assassina, a dish so audacious, so unapologetically Bari, that that it sizzled onto the table with a crackle that felt like a drumroll. Charred to perfection in its tomato-laced deathbed of chili and oil, each forkful delivered a smoky, spicy bite that danced between danger and divinity. I then had the creamy and fresh bufala, which arrived like a benediction beside translucent folds of Prosciutto di Parma, each slice a whisper of salt and time. Paired with a delicate carpaccio of gemlike heirloom tomatoes, the appetize was a study in balance, restraint, and the quiet power of impeccable ingredients. For me entrée, I had the Hipoglosso Genovese, a halibut served with tender artichokes in a delectable white wine and lemon sauce. My spouse had a filet of branzino, served with sautéed spinach and parmigiano potatoes. Both fish dishes flaked like silk under our forks, the subtle flesh infused with the very soul of the Mediterranean. One of our friends had the cavatelli special. Light and delightfully toothsome, it came crowned with impossibly fresh mussels and cherry tomatoes in delicate sauce that could summon tears. Another friend had the lasagna al forno, baked between diaphanously light pasta sheets, and served in a masterful combination of meat sauce and basciamella. Each bite was a revelation, as though we had stumbled upon a forgotten Adriatic trattoria that somehow followed us across the Atlantic and across the United States, landing in the Sonoran Desert. And the wine, the wine! The wine list is a triumph: esoteric, poetic, and unashamedly Italian. I nearly stood to applaud. The cocktails, too, deserve their aria, thanks to a heaven-sent bartender who should lead a masterclass to teach us mere mortals techniques that mix balance and panache. We concluded our meal by sharing a few flavors of gelato. Silken, intensely flavored, and spun with such care that the pistachio tasted like a sonnet from Shakespeare. The cherry gelato was my personal favorite--yes, even more than the chocolate, because it was mildly sweet, but not cloying, allowing the subtle flavor of the fruit to shine through with elegant restraint. Truth be told, all of the flavors felt like tasting summer itself on a silver spoon. Corso Italia is not merely an Italian restaurant. It is a gastric cathedral to the culinary soul of Italy. We visited this restaurant last evening for dinner. We were first time customers. Without a doubt, this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Everything scored a 5/5. The food, the ambience, and the service were all outstanding. The in-house homemade pasta is to die for. With each bite, you could close your eyes and swear you were in Italy. The chef is a master who we met when he came to our table to personally see if all was well. He is professionally trained, but learned many of his old world recipes in the kitchens of his mother and grandmother in Puglia, Italy. The chef is the owner of the restaurant, and cooks every meal. Each dish that we experienced clearly expressed his personal signature and attention. We ordered oysters on half shell and charbroiled oysters. Both were delicious. Next we ordered a special of the day, Salmon Carpaccio. Wow! If you ever see it on the menu, I suggest you order it. We then moved on to the pasta dishes. We ordered the Tortellini Gratinati and Pappardelle Alla Bologese. I can only describe this as pasta heaven. I can't wait to return to the restaurant to try some of the other options. Given it's still in its early days, I'm hopeful Corso Italia will come into its own and become a local go to. Right now it's a 3.5 star experience -- I rounded up instead of down since they are still so new. This is a review for the restaurant only. As it stands now, the prices are very high for what you get and then they nickel and dime you for everything. They offered to split the pasta for us (we didn't ask) and they charged $2 for doing so. We asked for a little more bread that already came with our dish and were told we'd have to buy a basket. Then they shockingly even charged for adding a tiny bit (as in a few slivers) of parmesan to what was otherwise an incredibly bland salad - I've never experienced that in all my years of dining out all over the world. Unfortunately those petty add-ons soured the experience a bit. While the food was good, the portions are modest and nothing really blew me away to where the steep prices would feel justified. The majority of the space is occupied by the market - the dining area itself is relatively small, and certainly not reminiscent of the Michelin Star vibe it appears they are aiming for. That said, it's still a fairly inviting spot with a cute bar that would be enjoyable for a laid back evening out or nice lunch should they bring the cost more in line with the overall experience. read more

I have only found places, like this, where you can have multiple experiences in one place in New York or Chicago. You can chose from the market side which is more casual & has delicious sandwiches & pizzas or you can chose a more elegant sit down option in the fine dining area with the most amazing homemade Italian pastas & so many other mouth watering authentic Italian dishes. During our dinner Chef Corrado came to check to make sure everything was to our standard & was so friendly while making sure we were satisfied. On top of ALL of that, the staff is so friendly & knowledgeable with their top priority being that you have the best experience & service possible!
