When I travel to LA, I always look for a Hotel in the downtown area. My son lives nearby and I enjoy having so many options for meals and stores to pick up something I may have forgotten or would like to have for the room. With the World Cup games in Los Angeles, it was a bit of a challenge to find a good property at a decent price. Fortuately, I found such a place in the Wayfarer. What made this property special was the quality of the staff. Each and every person with whom I made contact was exemplary, from the Front Desk to the Bar and Food Counter. Special kudos to Michelle at the Front Desk, who was amazingly helpful and friendly and great with making suggestions for restaurants etc. Also, Eduardo at the Bar and Food Counter was such a good guy-equally friendly, helpful and happy. If more places had staff members such as Michelle and Eduardo, travel would be a lot more pleasurable. Lastly, I had heard about the rooftop bar so took a ride up there to check it out. Sadly it was closed but I can tell it will be super cool with a great vibe when it's open and serving happy guests. I will be looking forward to my next stay at Wayfarer. read more

Cause who doesn't love when the sun is setting at the golden hour of time while you're sippin on a drink that's priced in half, with some added bar bites to complete the happiest hour. Now we can say extra Golden! I come here from time to time and it always feels complete when I leave. No complaints. Wayfarer can have their moment of shine here. Richard, my bartender, took care of my visit and experience. I ordered the mango unchained drink...the chamoy stick was a hit. Straight Latina style! Only sipped a little of it. I merged over to something more simple which was the Gin Rickey drink. I ended up sippin on two of these. Honestly, that was all I needed to set the tone lol, and of course, I was hungry. I stayed at the Wayfarer Hotel in downtown Los Angeles and discovered they have a pretty cool speakeasy. I decided to try the drinks and food, and I was pleasantly surprised -- the drinks were really good, especially the margaritas. The food was okay. It was a bit quiet when I went, but the vibe was still nice. Unfortunately, the rooftop bar was closed while I was there. It's closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which was disappointing because I checked in Monday night and checked out Thursday, so I didn't get the chance to experience the rooftop. They do have a happy hour from 5-7 PM, and the drinks are definitely worth trying. You won't be disappointed. The service was really good here !! read more

This hotel was literally a spot for us to freshen up and head back out, to only then come back for a quick night's sleep. I do think the aesthetic and renovations are cute, but you can tell it is an older hotel with a fresh set of decor. Staff was super friendly, but sadly the hours of the rooftop are a bit limited. They had a little carryout window for you to grab breakfast and coffee downstairs so that was neat. If you need a quick one night stay in the downtown area then this spot has you covered. read more

I had such a phenomenal experience at the Wayfarer rooftop restaurant. The atmosphere was serene. The food was so delicious. The vibes and scenery were immaculate especially during golden hour when the sun sets it creates a great atmosphere. But overall the customer service was one of the best I have had in a while. Our drinks were definitely the highlight here - and the view, of course! We came for DineLA and really enjoyed Mango Margarita and Horchatarita drinks. Large portions, sweet flavors, creative mixes, yum. The Shrimp Aguachiles were a personal fave of mine, no notes. The Pasta a la Diabla (basically, pasta with birria beef) was a miss for me. Lots of heavy pasta with beef, but the taste just didn't hit as intended. It's also such a generous portion, I couldn't finish it. The Queso Fundido was quite good, we agreed that we'd get it again. The Chicharron was good in theory, but we weren't keen on the flavors nor the presentation. The Stuffed Churros were A1, hands down. I'd come back to enjoy the Stuffed Churros with the view any day. Service was efficient and polite, and the place seemed to fill up after sundown. Fun ambiance, good music. Parking can be tricky in this area, but we opted for a garage and paid. read more

Absolutely loved our visit. Me and my mom had a blast and really enjoyed ourselves. This was very special to me since I recently got a new career and was promoted to full-time and have been wanting to show my mom and I more of what the world has to offer. Having dinner with my mom from a rooftop alongside the downtown buildings we have been a part of since the 90s was really cool! My mom had a blast and it really impacted her, nothing like making Mom proud. They don't offer parking which I found silly since they are a hotel lol, but there is a parking lot literally next-door to them that they recommend to park at. It was very fast, safe and convenient for us. The host, both downstairs and upstairs were very friendly and polite. We had the pleasure of being served by Rachel, I believe her name was. She was very attentive, courteous, and polite. She definitely upped our visit. Now I will say this, I did fully do my research in picking the best place to take us to which helped to understand the flow of everything. Of course, I'm a yelper hence why I'm on here and giving them an awesome review, so I do read reviews myself. I normally don't let the bad ones scare me away, I always make my own judgment. So yes, the menu is small, but i feel it has a fair dish as an option to help you gravitate towards your craving. So, NO you are not "just paying for the view." They even have a happy hour menu! You definitely don't get the vibe like they are very upscale and high-end to where you feel like its their way or the highway, who cares kinda vibe. We started off with the happy hour cesar salad which was really good. We both went with their Rigatoni alla Vodka pasta and added protein. I added the steak & my mom added the birria style Ragu. I really enjoyed my protein but man, that birria on my mom's plate was also reeeeally good. The pasta was a bit stale but i was told that was the style, nevertheless our plates were empty haha. Our waitress recommended a wine that my mom really enjoyed. I described what i was craving and i was recommended a mojito that was oh so good! I made reservations for 5pm so we could enjoy the warmness of the sun, yet catch the sunset as well. It's been hot in LA so this was definitely the move. I'm in LOVE! We came here on a Friday night with reservations. We got seated right away and I immediately noticed the aesthetics and felt comfy. I appreciate that there's a few seating options - high tables or lounge type seats. We ordered a few cocktails, elote, chicken sandwich and steak and eggs. The food and drinks were delish! Was here on a work trip and my coworker and I needed to stop for a quick bite before proceeding to our next stop and this was the place we chose! All the spots in DTLA are pricey unfortunately but at least this spot came with nice views and decor. It was hot out but luckily they had a shady spot for us to sit in. I ordered a drink recommended by our waiter and it was like a mango margarita w a chamoy stick and tajin rim - pretty tasty! "Started from the bottom now we here!" Like literally! My night kicked off by making a stop into The Wayfarer's parlor speakeasy (Lilly Rose) on the basement level. I then made my way to The Rooftop. I'd been up before during the day to take in the morning view + some fun scenic pics #SelfiesCloseToTheSun - but getting to dine, eat, sip and experience The Rooftop cocktail bar and restaurant is something to remember. Specializing in cool craft cocktails the Mac Daddy Frose initially called out to me (blended rosé meets tito's vodka, lemon, lillet rose aperitif and liquid alchemist strawberry cocktail syrup), but their frozen machine blended was down. My server/bartender extraordinaire Brian made a suggestion or two that lead me to the Hotline Bling. Tiki Bar tiki style drinks are their showstoppers. Plus a great variety of craft beer, wine and spirits. I wasn't sure if I'd eat here, but was glad I did. My Thai Lemongrass + Mango salad was the best! They have tons of protein options, but a last non in the vegetarian or vegan variety. That said the menu has a solid options or more for dietary needs. It's mostly seafood + fusion inspired. I thought about moving to one of the many loungey areas they have set up, but unfortunately they had a need for the space around 10:15 pm - so everyone would have to leave by then which was a little bit of a bummer - especially as I got charged an access fee for The Rooftop during dinner for some odd reason as a guest for the weekend. An added service fee versus if I had just wanted to dine in for the night. Toward the last half hour I was here they got hit with an influx of guest, mostly ordering one last beverage so it took a while to get a check, but Brian came to the rescue as soon as he could. Truly a gem! Brian had me set with plenty of water and everything came out pretty easy, smooth and delicious. Being next to the fire pit enjoying the energy of DTLA and the Rooftop was truly close perfect. Great way to kick off my birthday season, would definitely bring bae, friends and/or family here for next time. Q Tips: Reservations are encouraged, though very walk-in friendly. Possible wait if a busy night. Parking at the hotel or neighboring garages as well as very close to 7th & Metro Station. The Rooftop offers Prefix Brunch and Lunch that includes salad, main dish and a dessert. Brunch also includes bubbly. Happy Hour happens here! read more

Came for Mother's Day brunch and the restaurant was woefully underprepared. The included charcuterie board took forever to come out, and when it did it was abysmal (the worst charcuterie board I've ever had). They also forgot to bring a second one since we had multiple tables for our party (the server himself said we would have one for each table). Our party, along with at least 2 other tables tables next to us, ended up waiting over 45 minutes between when they cleared the plates for our appetizers and when the main dishes finally came out. We also had to ask for things multiple times because the servers would simply forget. Such a terrible experience, I won't be back here again. read more

Outstanding Service! I had an incredible experience at this rooftop bar, and the highlight was definitely the service. Our waiter, Rubel, went above and beyond--super friendly, personable, and genuinely seemed to enjoy his job. He and Edgardo gave us spot-on recommendations for both drinks and appetizers (their cocktail suggestions of the Mango Unchained and the Saturn ended up being my new favorite!), and he checked in regularly without being intrusive. He even cracked a few jokes that were perfectly timed and added to the relaxed, fun vibe of the evening. Right away they noticed when our heater started to run out of propane and replaced it right away to ensure we remained warm. The view is nice (a city view of DTLA), the ambiance was perfect, but the service really made the night memorable. If you're looking for a great spot with amazing staff, this is it. Staying at the Wayfarer and this rooftop bar is such a cool spot! We checked in and immediately came here to start off a fun weekend in LA. They have happy hour from 3p-5p, which is awesome! Their drink menu is pretty extensive and they have fun cocktails to choose from! I opted for the Brooklyn Heights and we ordered chips and salsa to share. We had a really positive experience here! I was surprise to see some of the reviews. We stayed two nights at The Wayfarer, and stopped by The Rooftop twice! Once in the afternoon for a late lunch and then in the evening for dinner. Both experiences were lovely. In the afternoon, it was much quieter with less foot traffic, and we were able to enjoy a quiet and peaceful lunch. My partner and I thought the food was great - we got the baja fish tacos and the birria beef tacos and that filled us up! They were very generous with the portions, and the chips were made fresh. Dinner was also pleasant, but gets a lot busier! I'd recommend making a reservation to secure a table, especially if you want a view. The rooftop was spacious and clean.
