When I ordered, I asked if it was a filet or a whole fish and he told me it was a small piece of a filet. Well, it arrived like a half fish with the tail and all the fish but it was only half of a full fish. Fish was ok but the veggies were not cooked at all (carrots, green beans, cauliflower) were all hard and tasted as if they were just washed and put on the plate raw. When the check arrived, we had to guess what was what because all items listed were "food". No itemization or proper accounting. Other patrons there were asking about chef Hannes and it seemed like he was not there. Idk if that was the reason the service and the food were a disaster or whether it was a one off situation but I don't think we have it in us to try this place ever again.

The problem was, she brought it to me in a to-go container. They brought my wife's quiche out on a plate, our lattes in mugs, so why was there any confusion? We never ordered anything to-go! From that, we had to go inside and ask for silverware, a plate, and all of that kind of stuff. Just an annoying waste of time! This may seem like a small thing. And, it is. But, this stuff has been going on a lot lately. They really need to get their staff under control, get them listening to their customers, and bring their customers what they ordered. The other problem I have with this place is that it has become overrun with flies. It's really annoying! I mean, we were just batting flies away from our table the whole time we were sitting there. As were a lot of other people. Looking at the open tables and chairs, there were flies just resting on them. I realize this is not their fault. And there's probably nothing they can do about it. My wife and I were excited to have a date night and try the new local spot, Coucou. What a mistake. This was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in years. The food was so aggressively salty that it was nearly inedible. Every dish seemed determined to answer the question, "How much salt is too much?" We both left feeling awful and regretting every bite. The cocktails weren't any better. For a restaurant trying to position itself as an upscale dining experience, the drinks were surprisingly bad, forgettable at best, and overpriced for what we received. Then there was the service. Coucou automatically charges a 20% service fee, and unfortunately the staff seemed to take that as permission to do the absolute minimum. Our water glasses sat empty, nobody checked on our meal, and when we asked questions about the menu, the responses inspired very little confidence. It felt like nobody cared whether we were having a good experience or not. The only redeeming part of the evening was that the manager, after hearing our concerns, reduced the bill by nearly half. I appreciate the gesture, but when a restaurant has to cut your bill by 50% just to make things right, that's a sign something is seriously wrong. We walked in excited to support a new local business and walked out wondering how this place is staying open. If you're looking for overpriced salt with a mandatory tip attached, Coucou might be your place. If you're looking for a good meal, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Without question, one of the worst meals I've had in a very long time. *********** **Update:** What has been most disappointing is the owner's response. Instead of taking responsibility for any part of the experience, the focus has been on questioning my credibility, criticizing how the review was written, and even suggesting that I may not have actually dined there. Yes, I used ChatGPT to help organize and edit my thoughts. That does not change the experience we had. That's a strange response given that your own manager reduced our bill by nearly 50%. We didn't ask for that adjustment. He offered it because there were obvious problems with the meal and the overall experience. During our visit, we also observed the manager offering discounts to other tables around us because of issues with their meals as well. Not every restaurant gets it right every night. Most customers understand that. What matters is how management responds when things go wrong. A simple acknowledgment that our experience fell short would have gone a long way. Instead, the response has been to challenge the customer rather than reflect on the feedback. Frankly, that tells me more about the restaurant than the disappointing meal did. I genuinely wanted to like Coucou. We chose it for a date night because we were excited to support a new local restaurant. The Bourbon Buzz brunch cocktail was good, though! Definitely enjoyed that. Service was just okay this time. Our waitress wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. At one point we needed something, and another waitress, the African American woman (I didn't catch her name) noticed and took care of us right away. Overall, Love & Salt still has a cool ambiance. This visit just didn't hit quite the same.

We also enjoyed the Fried Calamari that came with fried pepperoncini, fried lemon slices, and a lemon aioli. For my entree, I had the Panko Crusted Filet of Sole. It was a pretty large piece that came with sauteed veggies (some colorful broccoli and cauliflower florets) and a citrus-wine sauce. I would get this again! They had a few different specials for the night that I tried a couple bite of. One was a fish dish with spinach and rice that was pretty good. The other was a prime rib with twice baked potato and wedge salad. Unfortunately, the prime rib was like a third fat and wasn't very good. Get the fish dishes but skip the prime rib!

Chocolate lava cake was hot, perfectly paired with the cold creamy ice cream with melted chocolate inside. They have parking down below- "metered" parking for 3 hrs. This place shares space with many other great retailers/businesses including Bacio Di latte ice cream if you wanted ice cream after dinner here. I'll have to come back for the happy hour next time I'm in the area.
