Friendly place with a bunch of food options. My wife and I go here from time to time and have always enjoyed it. We have tried the breakfast burrito, breakfast croissant sandwich, and burgers and onion rings. All have been great.... we really love coming here for breakfast when we're hungover. I got my sandwich today with wet lettuce and the dried up end of mortadella with what looked like a rotten piece of something on my Italian sub and also the hard parts of tomato and the sourdough seemed like about 3 days old. The food is ok. But the real highlight is getting to wait 15-20 min for a sandwich and then still get your order wrong. I have only visited this place twice. The first time is because I live in the area and needed a quick lunch. First I waited about 15 min for a tuna sandwich and there was so much mustard on the thing it made it hard to eat. So I thought I'd give them another chance with another sandwich. My second time was for a chicken salad sandwich. I've recently been in and around Valley Center quite a bit and CJD is now by go-to lunch spot. The sandwiches are on point (I would recommend the French dip and the philly cheese steak) and the staff/owners are extremely warm and friendly. With covid situation, their outdoor dining is clean and well spaced to maintain social distancing. The few times I'd ordered delivery, the experience had been quick and safe as well. So my Mother in law uses a Cat only Veterinary next door to this Deli and it is a little out of the way but now that we've eaten here I will never complain about the 30 min. Drive again. Every time we go the food is so far above and beyond perfect it's without a doubt the best deli within 100 miles. The burgers, hot pastrami and the French dip are some of my favorites. I love going here for lunch. Their sandwiches are always good and if you are up to it, they are the only place in town with ICE CREAM. This is hands down my favorite place in Valley Center. Great sandwiches, amazing Thriftys ice cream, and awesome staff. I love living in VC because of the close knit community and this deli is the epitome of this. It's family owned and ran. They always have great food. My personal favorite is my own special order which includes pastrami on a hot dog with pepporonconi. The Philly cheesesteak is delicious as well as the home made chicken soup. Found this place while on my way to Harrah's Casino. We knew the casino food would be pricey so we wanted to stop and take advantage of good ol local food and prices. I ordered a side of fries and a chocolate shake while killing some time before a wedding in Valley Center. The fries came out to me and were severely burned, with 5-6 fries that looked like they had been scooped from the bottom of the fryer after cooking all day. My chocolate shake was somehow overlooked on my receipt by the 8 employees behind the counter (8 customers, 8 employees, still didn't get my order right!), so that didn't come with my fries, I had to get up and ask. I am so happy to work 3 doors down from this place. I usually just come for water and snacks but when I do forget my lunch or just have a craving for some yummy food I am never disappinted. I absolutely love their ham melt with avocado. They never skimp with anything! It is a bit pricey but you're definetely paying for the quality and freshness of the ingredients. They have the best ham and bacon. I can come here for ice cream, coffee, sandwiches, burgers, onion rings, breakfast burritos, soda, water bottles, you name it! I LOVE their Turkey/Avocado Crissant Sandwich :) My husband LOVES the terriyaki chicken sandwich and the teenager loves their BLT. The kiddos love to stop in for a scope of ice cream... the deli portion is not cheap, but its good :) Oh and they make lattes/coffee as well... Atmosphere was very smoky - better ventilation is in order. Very very noisy for a deli. My dad had to yell our order several times to be heard. The food took a while but it was good. My work on occasion brings me to the charming farming town of Valley Center. There is a bunch of everything grown there from nuts to cactus, to citrus and of course, avocados. I have driven by the Country Junction dozens of times while I going thru town, but never stopped, fearful I would get stuck in traffic on the way back home. This day, however, my belly growled like a furious ogre and needed to add some fuel. Each time Ive driven past CJ, it was decently packed with lots of cars parked on its side of the strip mall parking lot, and people walking in and out with their grub. Country Junction is the epitome of small town mom n pop shop. Everyone in there knew each other, either with a casual hello or "how's your crop coming along?" Even the local Sheriffs, 3 of them, came in complete with their cowboy hats on. It was quite the experience. Service was very friendly and my order was processed promptly...a very delicious Patrami sandwich on buttery grilled wheat bread. Why the 4 stars? Well it was obvious I wasn't a local, and I saw other pastrami sandwiches ordered by the locals, and rightfully so , they must've had almost twice the meat.
