Stopped here last night while in the area for a soccer game. I ordered the white meat chicken with green beans and a sweet potato. I went to the fountain to fill my cup and there was no ice. I asked the cashier if they were out & he said he'd take care of it, which he did. My plate was brought out very quickly. The sweet potato was actually only 1/2 of a sweet potato and it was about the size of a golf ball, there was hardly any substance to it. The chicken and green beans were really good. The sign on the door said they close at 9pm but when I walked out the door at 8:20, the "open" sign was turned off and the door was locked behind me. I'll eat here again but don't think I'll order the sweet potato as a side. read more

I've heard good things about the Cowboy Chicken chain, but I've never been until today. I got a sandwich, side, and drink for $12 - a bit pricey I thought. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. I told the cashier that I had never been and asked for a recommendation. The BBQ chicken sandwich was good but not spectacular. I was fine until I got a bit of gristle in one bite. I know that meat has gristle, but I was done at that point. I got the twice baked potatoes, a version of hash brown potato casserole. Good, but I like mine better. I am a tea connoisseur and the tea was FANTASTIC. They also had a seasonal flavored tea (today was watermelon), but I'm a sweet tea purist. One last note. The food was served with a couple of purple onion rings and a blistered jalapeño pepper. I'm not afraid of heat, but that was the hottest pepper I've had in many years! read more

I really love the chicken and sides. My school brings in Cowboy Chicken often. My husband and I picked up a family order on Sunday. The chicken was super tender. I also love the green beans. Always so fresh. The Mac n cheese is great. Wish y'all still had creamer spinach. We got some peach cobbler too. We needed some comfort food. Our order was ready in 5 minutes. I have been eating at the Dallas locations for decades. This would have been a five star review, but I had to think about what sides I ordered. They were not memorable at all. This place has so much potential if the employees would just get a clue. They either weren't trained right, or they just don't belong in the service industry. Twice we've been & been disappointed. The first time, they brought out the tomato cucumber salad DRY, obviously wasn't properly made. When I asked to switch it for beans they completely ignored me, so I had to go back up to the register & ask if I could have my beans. Also, instead of informing me they were out of the chipotle mayo for my sandwich, they brought it out dry. If they had told me they were out of it I would have ordered something else! Also, some chick behind the register had ridiculously long neon yellow acrylic nails, way too long to be working in the food industry.. it was hard not to be disgusted. Chicken always is good but went in at noon on Sunday and they were out of okra plus wanted a sweet potato which is advertised as a side ( when available) which they had because others got them but we were told couldn't have one as a side. Bad advertising. They were not marked as being extra or couldn't have as side, they were a side on the board but the manager, Michael decided we couldn't have. Not the place for me. Loaded mash potatoes were extremely dry and hard. Cobbler was like a cake mix that wasn't done.

If you like chicken, do NOT eat here. It is horrible every time and I'll never go back. 3 times in the last 6 weeks. (2nd and 3rd trip was dragged there with a friend), same old tired chicken, different day. It is always DRY, DRY, DRY. The skin is just parched onto the sheetrock chicken. Actually they might consider changing the name to SheetRock Chicken. It's just another franchise fast food chain full of bad, processed overly salted food. If you care about taste and health skip this place so they will go out of business for the 2nd time in not many years. I made the mistake of trying this place again Bad choice. Actually today's Cowboy Chicken tastes like the same chicken they left in the warmer after this place closed a year ago. YUCK! read more

Staff very attentive and food is great for reasonable price! I put in my order for eat in, then sat down to play on my phone while I waited. I didn't notice a half hour went by and no food! When I, finally, notice I asked about it and they had lost my ticket! Well, they made it right w/out me even asking! My order was credited back to my account, food packed to go, had to get back to work, and the manager gave me two more free meal coupons! Food was delicious and I'm back today! Will definitely be using the other coupon and be back to spend $ for future meals. read more

Stopped for a Rotisserie chicken. Ordered the chicken and 2 enchiladas. The food came out quick the enchiladas was only fair didn't finish the plate between me and my girl. We both left hungry. While we still had the chicken right? Not really it was way over cooked dry and it was so over cooked the inside thighs was dry. The outer skin was good but the first layer of meat was brown and hard it had been so over cooked. We left the chicken in the bag on the table. Was going to bring it home to the dog. While we used to enjoy Cowboy Chicken in Sherman the last few visits to order to-go have been less than spectacular. While we understand that it's not possible to have fresh chicken ready at a moment's notice since a restaurant doesn't know how many guests they'll have it's less than satisfying to be served chicken that has obviously been sitting under a heat lamp or something else to keep it warm judging by the dryness and toughness of it. The last three or four times we've been we've had the same problem but live close to 25 mils away so can't rally take it back and ask for fresher chicken. Most of those times we've ordered the half chicken meal, ordering the chicken leg meal the other. On Friday night's visit we each ordered a half chicken with two sides. The sides, as always, were great but the chicken seemed smaller and, once again, was tough and dry with barely a couple of bites of meat on each leg. The customer service is always friendly and nice when we visit but with the lack of quality control on the chicken, the main selling point of Cowboy Chicken, we most likely won't be back. read more

Good food and good value. I had the three piece dark meat with a side salad and the tomato and cucumber salad. Chicken was tender and tasty, and salads were fresh and yummy. Even used a coupon for a free entree with purchase of entree and two drinks, so my friend and I split the difference. read more

Fresh and tasty. We had the southwest chicken salad and chicken enchiladas with the creamed spinach, twice baked potatoes, and mac and cheese. The salad was crisp and delicious, but you will want to ask for two ranch dressing cups instead of one. (Great ranch.) The enchiladas were excellent. The sauce was lively but not too spicy. Unlike most home style restaurants, that serve up bland, mushy, lame sides, these sides were surprisingly flavorful and enjoyable. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality. The friendly staff and clean environment just adds to the experience. Wish we had more of these in Texas. read more
