Dumpling and Mac n Cheese sides
    Andy W.

Hadn't been to a Cracker Barrel in a couple years, but went for dinner tonight at their Canton, GA location hearing their CEO saying they're making changes to stay relevant. We really didn't notice much of anything different other than how bad the service was, and it wasn't very busy. Our server Jennifer was very forgetful and below average as a server. I showed her dirty silverware when she took my order, served my appetizer, but still no silverware. The dressing dipping sauce for the appetizer was spilled when she served it and said she'd be right back with the sauce...it never came. When she finally arrived with the entrees, I had to remind her again that I needed clean silverware. My wife and I both got the fried chicken entree which was nicely crispy, but too salty. Much prefer fried chicken at Publix Supermarket or Golden Coral than Cracker Barrel's. Their Cole Slaw was quite good though as we're the biscuits. Mac b Cheese was quite standard though I did enjoy my dumpling side. In summary, a nice change of pace but nothing to write home about and the poor service makes the thought of going back again soon less likely with so many other dining choices around.

I have had issues with this location but it's been a while so I thought I would try again. It was very average. Upon entering, we were seated relatively quickly. It took a bit for our server to show up and he mumbled and spoke so quietly my friends and I all couldn't hear him. The outside of my water glass was dirty. We were surrounded by dirty tables that were not getting cleaned. We ordered our food and it came, not too long of a wait. I got the grilled chicken tenderloins and 2 sides, dumplings and carrots. The carrots were dried out, almost like they were reheated in a microwave. The dumplings were okay and the grilled chicken wasn't bad. There were a couple of bites I got that were gristle and some had burnt marinade on top that wasn't great. Our bread was sorry- for 3 people we got 4 pieces of bread and they were tiny and undercooked. The meatloaf my friend ordered was burnt on the entire top, rendering that portion of the food inedible. The portion of eggs my other friend got was sorry as well. It was difficult to get refills as well- I left still feeling thirsty. Everything was underwhelming, especially as we have patronized other Cracker Barrels in the area. For $50, our service was pitiful. As you can see in my photo, our butter bowl in the bread basket had some old food crusted onto it. Plus, we watched the servers "clean" another table. They wiped off some of the table and then put the dirty menu back on. They had left a pile of dirty dishes on the corner. They finally came back by to pick up the dirty dishes but did not clean the table again. Instead, they shifted the items (sugars, salt, etc) to the other side and proceeded to sit another unsuspecting couple at that table. Their cleanliness was not there.

Kaitelyn did an amazing job she sat there and counted change for 1 hour with no complaints! Great service and food!

Coming from a medical procedure that required me to fast I was hungry, but not overly so. The discharge nurse advised me to eat turkey, grilled chicken, maybe mac n' cheese. Sounds like a Cracker Barrel kind of meal! On road trips, I've ordered grilled chicken on seared bread at virtually every Cracker Barrel we'd stop at. Simple, but satisfying. I was informed that my go-to dish is no longer on the menu -- but our server suggested something that fit the bill: grilled chicken tenders. I ordered the children's portion -- three nice-sized tenders -- which came with one side. Mac n' cheese it is! The waitress graciously brought out seared sourdough and I made my own sandwich. We didn't even have to pay for coffee, since a drink -- even refillable coffee -- is included on the children's menu. My meal was better than fast food, and cheaper too at $5.99. My husband ordered the meatloaf special. Mixed reviews. The meatloaf tasted homemade, but the slice was skimpy like it too came off the children's menu. (It didn't.) Cole slaw was tangy and good, but I equated the side of mashed potatoes to mortar! Dense, tasteless -- the kitchen should definitely re-work their recipe. At lunchtime the place was hopping. We waited about ten minutes to be seated. The restaurant -- like so many -- was clearly understaffed, with servers doing their best to keep customers happy.

We had great service for breakfast! Everyone was friendly & we were checked on regularly. Everything tasted great. I'd definitely come back!

The food is delicious. The service is good, and so is the atmosphere. The price is good considering how much you get. I did have bad experiences with this Cracker Barrel in the past. It seems that waitresses or waiters that wear aprons with five stars give you the worst service, and waitresses or waiters with no store give the best service. I always get relieved when they assign a waitress to my table with no stars because I already know that my service is going to be good.

Avoid to-go orders. Despite the ticket being correct, the items were wrong/missing. Food was cold. Terrible value. Won't return.

We had reservations for 5:30 and they quickly seated us. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and attentive and we never lacked for drink refills. The seating is comfortable and there is upstairs dining accessible by elevator. I ordered the special, a thick cut pork chop. While my wife had the Trout Almondine. For side we chose the creamed kale and risotto. Before our dishes came out I had the kitchen salad with bleu cheese dressing and their complimentary bread. The dipping sauce was nice and a real twang. It was nice and unique for a few bites, but the vinegar was too strong to enjoy it past a few tastings. The salads were nice but nothing terribly exciting and with big leafs of greenery on a flat plate to challenge your dexterity. My pork chop was perfectly cooked and the flavors were fantastic. I'm not a kale fan, but there take was very good. Although the amount of lemon used in the flavoring was a bit too strong for more than a few bites. My risotto also had a sour note, but not as strong, and they were wonderfully creamy. We sampled each other's entrees and I'm not a fish person, but I almost (but not quite) almost regretted not getting the trout. It was absolutely delicious. And the sauce on my pork chop was fantastic. At the end of our meal I visited the restroom, which was where things turned downhill. I know older buildings can be a challenge to keep nice, and there's no predicting when a previous patron can leave a mess. But when I saw the revolting detritus piled in the corner, it was obvious the dirtiness of the bathroom was due to staff neglect over an extended period.

I reserved a table for five here for Mother's Day because we've had mostly good experiences here,…read morehaven't been in a little while, and they had both crab cake Benedict and bottomless mimosas on the prix fixe menu, two of my wife's favorite things. They were clearly understaffed, which was apparent from checking in with the hostess. The line of people waiting to check in with her caused the waiter taking desserts downstairs to have to wait up to five minutes with that tray. Once we were seated, we thought things might go better. Crab cake Benedict was the #1 choice for my wife and BIL, but the kids' menu didn't have the chicken and waffles the guy who called to confirm my reservation had mentioned. That was no problem because my kids have learned to find something to eat wherever we take them, and I ordered chicken and waffles to share with them because I love my kids and knew I would get enough food one way or another. The mimosa came in a wine glass because they had run out of flutes, which was fine by my wife, but she said they tasted heavier on the juice than on the prosecco. My waffles came out a bit burnt, but they replaced them with no problem when we pointed it out. My kids got fresh waffles, and I enjoyed the burnt ones. The chicken was one decent piece for a person, but split between my daughter and me was less than I had hoped for. Thankfully, the salad was a decent appetizer. When the crab cakes Benedict came, we were shocked to see a mess of scrambled eggs on a thin crab cake with an English muffin under. We always ask for hollandaise on the side because that sauce can go several different ways of bad, but in this instance we were genuinely confused how a benedict could come with anything other than poached eggs! The flavor was okay, but the texture and presentation left a lot to be desired. My wife only finished half of hers and didn't touch the limp fries. You can probably figure out how I made do with food in this instance. Our kids, meanwhile, devoured their food like we had starved them their whole lives, so on the plus side we didn't have to hear kids whining about food! Service was polite but very slow. I don't know that we'll be back. With the abundance of good restaurants in our area, it's going to be hard to justify returning here.

We stopped by for lunch and were really impressed with the quality of the food and the great customer service we received. We started our meal with the crab dip and hush puppies and it was a great start to our meal. Everything arrived warm and fresh and delicious and great for sharing. For our entree we ordered the special pasta of the day which was a pesto sauce pasta with chicken and the shrimp and grits. Two completely different types of dishes and both were absolutely FANTASTIC! The pesto sauce of the pasta dish was one of the best pesto sauces we have had in a really long time. Absolutely delicious. The shrimp and grits was just perfection the very best grits I've also had in a long time. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the whole dish was so full of flavor. Truly one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Best part - the restaurant was so affordable (especially for a seafood restaurant) which we loved as well. We have dined at many expensive seafood restaurants over the years and most are simply overpriced and the food is usually ok but not wow by any means. I can truly say the food at this restaurant was WOW, and at a great price point. The shrimp and grits was only $17 for a large plate of delicious food it was 100% worth it and more. Service was great as well, everyone was very friendly and attentive, and made great recommendations for dishes to try. Overall, one of the best dining experiences we have had in some time. If you are in Georgia and looking for a great meal in highly recommend checking this little gem out. You won't be disappointed!

First good sign: the bartender had classic bartender energy. Easy to talk to and good at what he does. Looking at the menu, I immediately noticed some French touches, including escargot, which you almost never see around here. I had to try it. It wasn't the best escargot I've ever had, but when a place in Canton is putting it on the menu, you give them credit for the effort. The real reason I came in was the oysters. I'm a big Roberto's in downtown Woodstock fan, which I consider the oyster mecca of the area. So I was curious if Canton had anything comparable. To their credit, Going Coastal actually does oysters properly. Not just the usual generic stuff. They had Murder Points, which tells me someone in the kitchen cares about quality and sourcing. I also ordered a piece of fish. They cook it to order and let you choose how you want it prepared. Some people want the chef's call, others like control. Either way, the execution was solid and the flavors worked. Bottom line: this is a good seafood spot. The best seafood option in Canton.

They had a noticeably strong smell right away, which usually means they're not as fresh as they should be, especially at a $40 price point. We took them home, but every time we opened the fridge the smell hit us, so they ultimately went in the trash. Despite this particular experience, we've always enjoyed this place.
